Reviews for The Shore Path Cottage
Review 1:Our room, which I think was Bob's room, is the first room immediately next to the front door of the cottage which stays unlocked. The room has a heavy sliding pocket door that only locks from the inside so we chose to lock some of our belongings in our car while we were out in the evening.
Review 2:The Shore Path is a lovely old house with nice common space. Upon arrival we were offered coffee, tea or wine and a fresh loaf of lemon bread. Breakfast was wonderful. We didn't have the chance to explore the actual shore path behind the home due to only staying one night and the day we arrived the entire coast was fogged out. The cottage is very walkable to all shops and restaurants of Bar Harbor and about a 15-20 min drive to Cadillac Mountain.
Review 3:We loved the location, the shore path to town and the overall character and history. So much fun sharing with the innkeeper. They were wonderfully warm and accomodation!
Review 4:Our room was not in the main house but in a new cottage beside the house (Birds' Nest 1). We were woken very early in the mornings by the movement of people who were staying upstairs.
Review 5:We loved being within walking distance of Bar Harbor village and the many restaurants. Our hostess was extremely helpful and made suggestions for dinner venues as well as for our daily activities. Afternoon tea was a delicious bonus.
Review 6:A tad overpriced. Most expensive B&B on our 15 night excursion.
Review 7:Great location. Within easy walking distance to downtown. Beautiful old home with a lovely room. Charming hosts. Best blueberry pancakes ever!
Review 8:Absolutely nothing!
Review 9:It was gorgeous! Our room was great, the shore directly accessible from the property, lovely host, excellent breakfast (killer muffins!!!), every afternoon fresh homemade pastry...just a wonderful place to escape the stress! And just a couple minutes to Acadia National Park.
Review 10:Rooms a bit tired and worn and so many cruise-ships and their thousands of passengers in town! Poor Bar Harbor.
Review 11:Great location on the shore path and close to town centre. Very hospitable and helpful hosts. Coffee, tea, cakes and wine at tea time. Yum. Acadia park stunning.
Review 12:Our stay in Acadia wasn't a brief one. We traveling around the island almost a week, coming in from New Jersey, spending the holidays with friends in such beautiful place. While we were in Acadia we wanted to see the beach and ocean, and as ladies in the trip have limited walking range we opted for a hotel that was within a very short distance from the main town. We selected The Shore Path Cottage and were very pleased with the quality of the house and the service we received. Rooms we were given was on the attic and has got to be one of the best rooms I've ever stayed in with a spacious and comfortable sitting area and adjoining bathroom. The quality overall was excellent (I LOVED the style of the furniture), and everything was clean and spotless. The bed linens after a long-distance driving were an absolute delight. Pure comfort. There was a deck with rocking chairs downstairs outside and one HUGE backyard where one can see the sea level. I recommend the breakfasts in the hotel. The food is high quality and abundant with fine china. Service is excellent. The hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner, but there are numerous places to eat within a short walking distance. The host was excellent with good recommendations, useful information and check-in and check-out were flawless. Would I come back and stay here again if I visited Acadia ? Oh yeah! I definitely would.
Review 13:We liked the 'home' feel and you was made so welcome. The breakfast was excellent plus the extra's like afternoon tea, wine and cake. Perfect position for the shore and village.
Review 14:Room was right off the front door which is left open/unlocked and there is no lock on room door. We were unable to stay for breakfast so the owner promised to leave banana bread and other goodies to take with us but they were nowhere to be found and neither were the staff. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to this.
Review 15:The location was excellent. A nice romantic walk on the Shorepath path. Owner was nice. Room was nice.
Review 16:Lovely owners. Friendly, relaxed and comfortable. Close to the water, Acadia and walking distance to downtown. Great hospitality Would highly recommend this quintessential B & B.
Review 17:The food, the staff, the other guest, the place, the views. Everything. And unlike other facilities that are in the hubbub a noise, this place was quiet and tranquil.
Review 18:The mother and daughter who run the cottage bed-and-breakfast are totally lovely people. They went out of their way to accommodate us and everyone who was staying there. The breakfasts were homemade and very delicious. Every afternoon there were yummy freshly baked treats and wine put out for the guests. The view of the shore from the veranda and extremely spacious yard was truly exquisite. The stainglass windows in our bedroom, the homeyness yet cleanliness and professionalism of the staff, breakfasts around the homestyle large dining room table provided us with delightful companionate conversation with the most interesting other guests. Even the books in the room gave me hours of reading fun… And they were books I wouldn't have easily found elsewhere. I recommend this place highly.
Review 19:Could use more bathrooms.
Review 20:Location on the water, short distance to town, meeting interesting bed and breakfast guests, relaxing on porch and back lawn, parking, enthusiastic hostess!
Review 21:Shame the king bed in my room had a ridge down the middle but it really is the only grumble with my otherwise fantastic room !
Review 22:A beautifully tended home style guest house with the warmest owners. Lovely touches like teas, coffee and home baked cookies! Was made to feel very comfortable and relaxed!
Review 23:Very personalised hospitality, the owner knew the area really well, was happy to chat and spend time providing us with great recommendations. She even lent us her hiking guidebook for the area! The breakfast was delicious, especially the cunammon and blueberry muffins. There was also homemade cookies in the evening and coffe/tea/wine. The Location was great, just off main street but with its own access to the shore path.
Review 24:This property is quite beautiful and very well kept. We were warmly welcomed and were pleased with our very large room which was actually a cottage attached to the larger home. The breakfast was plentiful and, if desired, you could eat on the large porch overlooking the water or inside if you choose. The hostess also supplied a "happy hour" each day from 4p - 6p with wine and delicious snacks. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area.
Review 25:Small bath room
Review 26:Lisabeth was wonderful!! She made us feel so welcomed in her family home. The location was perfect both quiet and yet short walking distance to harbor, shops & dining.
Review 27:Room was a bit small, but we were only there 2 nights so it was fine.
Review 28:The King bed in the Lisabeth room was two twins pushed together. When the owner asked how I had slept the first night, I told her the bed was a little hard and I could feel the separation of the beds. I suggested she get a thick mattress topper and she actually went out and got it that day! My bed was made up for me when I came back and I slept great. Now that's customer service. She said she bought 3 for all the and thanked me for the suggestion.
Review 29:Our double bed was two twins pushed together and rather uncomfortable. The room was listed as a king not a double and we were rather worried about the security, we were told by the owner that they didn't use keys and everything was always left open. We were joined at breakfast by a friend and asked if we could pay for her breakfast, the owners said this was fine. We were the only guests not asked if we wanted anything in particular and much of the food had already ran out by 8.30am. At the end of breakfast our friend was charged $50 for her breakfast which we thought was extortionate. There were no options for people with allergies, one of our group is lactose intolerant and the other can't eat gluten. To add insult to injury we were then asked if we could pay by cheque or cash to avoid additional charges for them. Overall the charm of the property was ruined by the poor service and we felt that we were taken advantage of.
Review 30:The property was a lovely, traditional Bar Harbour B&B close to town and easy to find with free parking.
Review 31:Roberta is a wonderful host. The fresh baked goods are delicious! We felt so welcomed. The house is beautiful and the location perfect for enjoying Bar Harbor!
Review 32:It would have been nice if there would have been a Television in the Room. We were not aware that there was not.
Review 33:The Innkeepers were very helpful and very nice people. We liked the Location of the Place because it was very centrally located and we could walk to most Restaurants and Stores also it was located right on the Ocean
Review 34:The only very slight niggle was that the wifi upstairs was sometimes a bit slow. In the large scheme of things this was a very trivial issue.
Review 35:The hosts The location The house and its atmosphere The fittings The breakfast
Review 36:Very good standard hotel, excellent location, excellent service. Clean rooms . Good breakfast and invested. We had a wonderful stay. The shore path walking is close to hotel.. nice.
Review 37:No grab rail for the shower in the narrow bath
Review 38:Exceptionally quiet and serene atmosphere. Charming and welcoming and ever helpful hosts. Great local in almost in the centre of town but with views and access straight to the bay. Very well kept old house, comfortably furnished but not over the top. Immaculately clean, everything works first time every time. No overpowering scents, perfumes but always smelt fresh and clean. Exceptionally fine breakfast including delicious homemade museli and a wonderful fresh fruit salad every morning.
Review 39:WiFi was rather limited but then we were on holiday.
Review 40:Warm welcome. Guests are treated more as part of the family than paying clients. Breakfast is included but tea and coffee with home made cakes and pies are always on offer. The property overlooks the sea and there is access the the shore path (of course). It is quiet but with easy access (2-3 mins walk) to the main street and plenty of excellent restaurants. We were very sorry to leave.
Review 41:The Wi-Fi upstairs was a bit weaker than we would prefer but first rate on the lower level.
Review 42:The owners and staff could not be nicer and more concerned for the enjoyment of their guests. The bed (we had a King) was amazingly comfortable and the location was right on the water and a 3 minute walk from the heart of town. Plenty of parking on-site, very easy in and out.
Review 43:We had a wonderfull time at the Shorepath cottage! The beds are amazingly comfortable and we had a free upgrade to the top of the building were we had a lovely view at the oceanside and a romantic big room. The breakfast was very good and we had a great time meeting other travellers during the mornings. This is the place to go if you want to stay in Barharbor. I had lots of fun with the squirrels aswell ;)
Review 44:There was nothing we did not like except perhaps the low level of light in the room.
Review 45:Well located on Shore Path and close to the Main Street and excellent restaurants. Nice grounds and public areas.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:We loved the location within walking distance to town. The suite with two adjoining rooms was perfect for our group of 4 adults. Everything was very well kept. Best of all was the warmest hospitality of the hosts and the other guests.
Review 48:The location was perfect for visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia national Park. Two blocks off Main Street toward the bay, so an easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was very quiet and with a lovely view of the bay, in an area where big cruise ships dock. The breakfasts were wonderful and the staff was friendly and very helpful with all our questions. Rooms are large and everything is very clean. I will definitely try to stay there again if I return to the area.
Review 49:Can't think of anything.
Review 50:Everything.Location is great, easy walk into town, but quiet. Decor very charming, bed very comfortable. Breakfast home cooked and great. Staff, charming and friendly. Wish I lived closer so I could visit often.
Review 51:No television on the property but we had Netflix on an I-Pad.
Review 52:Understated, unpretentious and absolutely wonderful in every way. The owners are warm, open, and so engaging. The effect was that visitors actually relaxed. Walk to everything! We found our new best place in Bar Harbor.
