Reviews for Vacationland Inn & Conference Center

Review 1:Stayed 2 days on the second day the towels we used were still hanging on rack and the night before I dropped a peanut on the floor and it was still there

Review 2:Location

Review 3:The only negative th as t I have is that the reception on the tv was less than desired. I don't know why it was fuzzy, but it was.

Review 4:I liked the fact that it was all set up to be a quaint, cozy place to stay...and it really was! It was almost like staying at home.

Review 5:Surprisingly, room did not have a closet or clothing dresser. But we had a hotter and fireplace.

Review 6:Very clean and quiet hotel. Accessible to highways and restaurants

Review 7:Unfinished room, the tiles in the bathroom and vanity did not have grout. Staff was not helpful, I as told the Inn was walking distance about 20 minutes, to the Cross insurance Center, in was actually almost 2 hour walk. When I checked out I was asked how the stay was, I replied "fair" and the desk clerk said excellent. They seemed very happy with a fair review.

Review 8:gentleman on check in was down right unfriendly.old analog tv;s need to go.carpets dirty. shower and heat hard to regulate.

Review 9:beds were quite comfortable.

Review 10:Would have liked a coffee /tea maker in room, and access to milk during the evening.

Review 11:Hospitality was excellent and location is great. Also loved the exterior and interior entrances.

Review 12:Water in shower would jump back and forth from hot to cold and water pressure was weak.

Review 13:The rustic look and feel of the hotel. The double doors in the room so that we didn't have to go outside in order to get to breakfast. The maps, coupons, and location.

Review 14:The room was not cleaned nor beds made for our second day's stay and we had to ask for more towels. The carpet was in dire need of cleaning and a light was burned out over the sink. The coffee maker did not work.

Review 15:Location was great and having the restaurant beside it within walking distance was a bonus. Making our own waffles for breakfast was fun! Staff was helpful at the front desk..no hassles.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Awesome waffles with local blueberries pilled high. Staff gave great restaurant tips too. House keeping chased us to restaurant to return forgotten item.

Review 18:Old a/c unit. It worked but was smelly and noisy.

Review 19:Very large room Two doors to room - one to the outside, where I parked, one to an interior corridor. Woodsy theme to decor Historical information inset into breakfast room tables

Review 20:There were not enough plugs for charging phones and computer and no light by desk.

Review 21:It is probably me, I have decided not to book anymore hotels less than 120.00. This was only 90.00 and I don't think it is anywhere close to its 3 star rating. Although the room and bedding were clean the room was old and worn. We were in the back building and it was a long, cold walk outside to breakfast and laundry.

Review 22:There was one older female at the front desk who seemed a little bit irritable and condescending, but normally the staff are friendly.

Review 23:It's comfortable, quiet and conveniently located for our trips.

Review 24:The entire plumbing system is very messed up. There is no pressure to the shower. The toilet doesn't flush very well at all. We have stayed several times and it wasn't just one experience with the plumbing it was every time. We only stay at the hotel one night at a time because multiple night I wouldn't feel clean to enjoy my vacation.

Review 25:Vacationland Inn is a very comfortable and cozy hotel. Very friendly staff they make you feel very welcome.

Review 26:Parking was a little tricky, shower water temperature a bit tough to regulate, but neither was a big deal.

Review 27:Staff was friendly and courteous, extremely helpful and welcoming, genuinely nice. Lovely inn, homey details, extremely clean, super comfortable beds, very quiet in rear building away from road, very reasonable price.

Review 28:The room I stayed in was in need of some modernization. While it was clean, it could use a new carpet and some fresh paint. Everything worked so there was no problem, but it wasn't the most appealing room I've stayed in.

Review 29:The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, plenty of places to eat, and a Walmart. There's plenty of parking, the staff is friendly, and the lobby is rustic and inviting. The complimentary breakfast is good and handy if you're in a rush in the morning. It's better than most places for this price range.

Review 30:They did not have an available printer for printing boarding passes. It seemed a little odd for a hotel with a conference center.

Review 31:Staff was very attentive and responded to every need in a timely fashion.

Review 32:It was a very sketchy area, and there were a love of confusing signs as to the dangerous surroundings. We had booked two nights, but chose to leave after one night due to these issues.

Review 33:Liked how close the hotel was to shopping that we wanted to do.

Review 34:They had me go through an alternate route (based on highway sign) that seemed to send me way south from what I needed to be and off the road that I though would take me more directly there. A lot of construction in town but I still think it would have been easier to come straight in/straight down, rather than down and back up again. Also didn;t like that I had to search for entrance due to construction. They could have told me that a notice on the "front" door indicating it was closed because of Tar. could have been dealt with by entering door at the side of the same vestibule. . I was left hiking baggage around for potential "fire escape" entrance which I never did find

Review 35:Accommos very comfie . . nice ice bucket facilities . . Nice continental served in the brekki nook . .Wish I had availed of Belgian Waffles but always feel uncomfie if staff have ti teach me how to use equip. . .Prefer if its just done for me . . . someone else was using and couldn't wait . .I was late for departure . . .

Review 36:We have stayed here before and the previous room was a lot better. This was OK this time. The room carpet was stained and layout of the room was poor. I don't usually complain but my wife did not like the room we got . We we disappointed considering the money we paid.

Review 37:Good Location, Friendly staff

Review 38:Carpet was very dirty--needed immediate attention. Bedspreads had seen better days. Replace them and you should get better ratings.

Review 39:Employees were very friendly and nice. Lobby was pretty. Room was beautifully painted and decorated. Breakfast was good.

Review 40:The staff were great; the property is going green; good location. We didn't have the breakfast that was included but the eating area was good and the waffles with Maine blueberry syrup was supposed to be very good.

Review 41:The shower felt like it was going to cave in, the room smelled musty, overall the place seemed really old and outdated.

Review 42:Nice that they had a bonfire outside for all guests! The waffles at the continental breakfast were a nice touch.

Review 43:outside flies and bugs. forgot about those.

Review 44:cleanliness, comfort, friendliness, quiet, location, ease of accessing room, fresh blueberries and strawberries on waffles for breakfast. repeat visit. love to stay here. great restaurant next door. marvelous food everywhere. lots of amenities nearby.

Review 45:The room we stayed in was a little outdated, but it was clean.

Review 46:The beds and pillows were very comfortable. the staff at check-in and check-out were friendly and professional

Review 47:Very helpful front desk staff. Very thoughtful and kind breakfast room staff. Clean and comfortable room. Overall location and ambiance just a tad downscale, but I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Review 48:The air conditioner was overly loud and the Wi-Fi did not work. I complained to the clerk but they were not able to resolve it. Bed could have been better.

Review 49:Staff were friendly. Decor fits area

Review 50:The room has two entrances, one into the busing and one into the parking lot. It's seems conviences but I am doubting about the security. People can let others into their rooms from the outside entrance.

Review 51:Interesting decorations you must see! Comfy beds, sweet staff( the girl work night shift), continence location which has gas station right next door. Hot breakfast!

Review 52:The controls for the shower were reversed so when you turned toward hot, cold water came out and when you turned toward cold, hot water came out.

Review 53:The staff was excellent and very friendly and accommodating.

Review 54:WI Fi, was non existant. Breakfast was Carb heavy. 5 days of Waffles, no matter how good they are, is just too much. Variety would be welcome. How about scrambled eggs?

Review 55:Billie Jo. In fact she is the number 1 reason that we will return. All your staff was excellent. Kind and genuine. They represent you well.

Review 56:Staff was friendly and helpful. Place is very large. Might be a problem in winter, but not in summer. Our room was quiet but air conditioner was quite loud so we could only use it sporadically.

Review 57:Rustic rooms. No shower knob, therefore couldn't use shower. Very small bathroom. Very poor soundproofing..could hear people in hallways. Musty smell on entering room.

Review 58:Loved the breakfast!

Review 59:We had a hard time finding the motel because booking.com told us it was in Bangor not Brewer. They should do their homework.

Review 60:Staff was very helpful and friendly and the room was very clean. The breakfast was great. Exceptional value for the money.

Review 61:The decor is quite dated but functional. The staff we interacted with were really focused on guest satisfaction.

Review 62:The breakfast is awesome. Real blueberry mash for waffle topping.

Review 63:Toilet in our room did not flush properly. Poops did not go down despite two flushes. They need the high powered ones because water pressure was low and could not do the job. The brochure over-advertised what was there. Photos are much nicer than the actual rooms which were a bit shabby in comparison to the images on line and in their brochures. I'd suggest they freshen up some of the older rooms.

Review 64:The price was fair. Location okay but our section was close to the busy road. Blueberry waffles were nice but there was hardly anything else and so one family member was not pleased. I suggest adding yogurt.

Review 65:They renovated their front building and posted the photos of it on the advertisements. If you book with an agency you may get an old room, with awfully loud ac unit and a smell of a very old building cause for some reason they give you old building rooms if you book through the agency. So just watch out and may be call and ask, cause I heard that the rooms in the building look much better.

Review 66:The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing.

Review 67:Internet a bit buggy and slow. A small investment to upgrade the wireless system would be much appreciated.

Review 68:Great waffles! Nice setting inside and attention to historical aspects in the common areas.

Review 69:It has several rooms where you drive up to the door, so it gave off a lower class/low rent vibe. But once inside it was nice

Review 70:The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, very comfy. The breakfast was free and it was good---lots of choices.

Review 71:nothing

Review 72:After calling other hotels for us the man on the front desk found us a room when we returned for an extra night. Hotel staff are always friendly.

Review 73:Room was very small, it felt cramped. And the bathroom, oh my goodness, it was the size of a postage stamp and very old and ugly looking. You had to squeeze between the tub and toilet to close the door because there was only about an inch or less possibly, of clearance between the door and toilet bowl. The window in the bathroom did not have a screen either, which meant either keeping it closed or letting the bugs in. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but typical of beds at motels in this price point. I would have liked some more protein options at breakfast. Supposedly there was hard boiled eggs but either that was just the one day or they were gone every day by the time we got there (around 8). Fruit would have been nice too. Still, for the price it wasn't bad. It was average or above average for a hotel at this price point.

Review 74:Location was good, right on the main road and near major highways, easy to get to where you need to be, lots of shopping nearby and good restaurant right next door. Place was very clean and common areas nicely renovated. Staff was pleasant. Breakfast was well stocked and the room where you ate was lovely.

Review 75:When we first arrived we had some issues with the wi-fi, however we managed to get this sorted out with the help of the man at reception.

Review 76:We chose Vacationland because we thought it would offer good value for money, and we weren't disppointed. The rooms could definitely use an update in terms of decor, but everything was very clean, and everything worked fine. There is a very good range of cable TV channels. The staff were also very helpful. Overall this place is nothing fancy, but it does offer very good value for money.

Review 77:a warm friendly atmosphere though out all parts of the staff. front desk are very help full and polite. very good breakfast room and breakfast. handy to Walgreens and fast food outlets.

Review 78:smell in the room - it smelled like very old stale cigarette smoke. At one time there was smoking in that room. Fortunately, the room was clean, but the smell took away from the experience.

Review 79:quick access to the interstate and the price

Review 80:Nothing...

Review 81:Cleanest and best kept mature property we have ever seen. A feeling of ...past times quaintness and East Coast care and pride. Everything from the neatly kept lawns to the novel displays of wildlife and oceanset furniture. Really cool place! Thank You

Review 82:The location was our choice with access to the interstate I95 about 3 minutes away. Family restaurant next door to eat at so we did not drink and drive. Food wad good and prices reasonable. Hotel breakfast was decent with quite a few choices.

Review 83:Phone was out of service all 3 days we stayed there; room quality was poor and not cleaned well, there was not enough strength in the wi-fi to get on the internet at all while we were there, there were 2 entrances to the room were not told not to put the chain on the back door so room did not get cleaned or replenished with supplies the first night and could not call the front desk to report also could not call for a wake up call as the alarm clock did not work either.

Review 84:Great blueberry waffles, if you only stayed there for breakfast. DQ and a great restaurant were next door.

Review 85:The staff were the best, the reception desk and staff in breakfast area were the best I have come across(these were only staff we had contact with) The location was a little further out than some places in Bangor however the 5 min extra drive is worth it. This hotel will now be my stopping place in the Bangor area from this point forward.

Review 86:No lamps. Scarcity of elec outlets. No towel bars. Lamppost blocked path to bathroom. This room miss labeled & charged as a "suite. ".

Review 87:This place might have been new in the late '60's but it really needs an update. The bathroom was clean and serviceable, but that is the nicest I can say about it. There were even signs on the wall for the shower regarding how to deal with getting hot water. The wall plugs were so old that our electronics plugs kept falling out. The phone is a Princess edition! Ehe bedside lamp was a loon, which by itself is not all that bad, but the light it gave off was pitiful. In fact, there was very little lighting in the room at all. I guess you get what you pay for ...

Review 88:The room was on the first floor and parking was right outside our door.

Review 89:as very often in the U.S. the breakfast room was very small compared to so many guests. Therefore the small buffet was overcrowded. I prefer to eat outside

Review 90:Despite the huge numbers of rooms staff was friendly, comfort and cleanliness were great

Review 91:Broken table in room and pitiful breakfast. Very minimal prepackaged boxed pastry and very little of it. Carpet was not clean. Certainly not worth $250 per night!!!

Review 92:room located in separate building compared to breakfast location. Inconsistant water temperature during showers.

Review 93:vast room. Ideal for motorcyclists with large bags

Review 94:Continental breakfast was pretty much coffee and juice and cook your own waffles . No fruit other than waffle toppings, or other normal breakfast items. About 5 or 6 choices of bread. Old showers had some black mold under caulking. TV's need to be flat screen.

Review 95:Drive up access to my room.Quaint but somewhat dated.

Review 96:The room itself was a bit outdated, especially the bathroom.

Review 97:The lobby and breakfast rooms were updated and cozy with a cabin feel. My room had two entrances, one from the parking area making it easy to carry suitcases in and out, and one to the hallway leading to the lobby and breakfast room. Made it very convenient. It was also nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room.

Review 98:Breakfast was not diabetic friendly What they had was fine as long as you could eat carbs. Even room temperature hard boiled eggs would have created something friendly for us

Review 99:Room was very small.

Review 100:We left something in the room and one of the staff paid for and sent it back to us. This was above and beyond what she had to do.

Review 101:Keyed doors rather than card keys. Continental breakfast consisted of waffles, toast or cereal (cheerios I believe) NO fruit or yogurt.

Review 102:Great location, very friendly staff

Review 103:Theroom and property were clean well maintained and beautifully decorated. The rates are definitely on the affordable side with awesome extras like the delicious breakfast.

Review 104:room had strong smell of cigarette smoke from last visitor. told front desk..was handled promptly.....given discount.

Review 105:rooms were huge...great for family.

Review 106:First room was not the greatest but got a great upgrade for the last days.

Review 107:Excellent staff. Went above and beyond. Great breakfast especially the waffles.

Review 108:Location, and cleanliness. And friendliness of staff. Even though staff couldn't find my bookin as had computer crash, all sorted and had a lovely big room

Review 109:Well back from the road, completely quiet. The place had its own funky but welcoming personality, different from motel chains. The included breakfast didn't include eggs but otherwise was of superior quality. Will definitely return.

Review 110:It would be nice to offer complimentary bottled water in the room.

Review 111:The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. The room was clean and quiet. Very good location and a good value.

Review 112:See above

Review 113:Convenience to brewer. The floors in the room were dirty and bath was outdated , faucet loose in bathtub. I'm gluten free there are no options. Coffee choices few, saw pots that weren't brewed. It was Sunday , should of been more choices .

Review 114:Upon arrival I noticed that there was no black out curtain in the room. I'm sensitive to light and need a dark room. I asked for another room, but there were none available. The clerk offered to have maintenance fix it the next day. When I came back the next evening, it had not been fixed and the clerks explanation was that they must have been busy. Additionally, while it was a non-smoking room, guests were smoking on the outside deck, which caused the smoke to drift into the room. I checked out the next morning and spent the next four nights of my trip somewhere else -- in the dark and smoke-free.

Review 115:There were two beds in my room, and one sagged in the middle, but the other was rather comfortable.

Review 116:As mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast is lacking fruit, it'shigh carb. Other customers brought their own to put in the cereal or onwaffles. When checking in, the front desk staff suggested the restaurantnext door for eggs, etc....problem solved. Great coffee and waffles!

Review 117:The motel was clean, just outdated. That didn't bother me at all. There was new carpet and paint. The furniture and bathroom tile were oldbut they are completely functional and kept up. Very friendly staff. Iliked the drive up parking to the first floor rooms.

Review 118:The people above me stayed up until 4 a.m. walking around and slamming what sounded like dresser drawers and like a chair with casters on rolling around the floor. I went to the front desk twice to ask them if there was anything they could do. They seem to know who that person was, and said something about they usually go to bed around 4 AM. I don't know what she meant by that, but she wasn't really willing to do too much to stop them. Needless to say I got absolutely no sleep that night

Review 119:Dated furnishings, does not look like it was upgraded since the 70's, breakfast had no fruit, mattress fair in comfort,

Review 120:Good location, friendly staff , clean , value for the money and adequate for the one night lay over that we used it for

Review 121:Less than stellar breakfast experience but that had everything to do with rude guests who monopolized the food displays and took much more than was reasonable for one helping, leaving nothing for others. The staff did their best to keep on top of supply but were clearly challenged by the children permitted to run amok by their parents who were both present.

Review 122:Love having a door to the parking lot and our motorcycles AND a door to the hallway to the front desk and breakfast room. Great porch for sitting out as well as chairs around the fountain. Friendly and helpful staff...we'll be back!

Review 123:You don't have hair dryer and flat iron and ironing board

Review 124:Very good location, quiet, homey, clean, the building feels very solid and strong so as the floors. The staffs are very helpful and accomodating especially the one who works in the evening(3 to 11pm) @ the front desk.

Review 125:THERE WAS A BIT OF DUST ON THE FURNITURE AND THE ROOM WAS VERY SCENTED WHICH WE CLEARED OUT WITH THE AIR CONDITER

Review 126:VERY HOSPITABLE STAFF CONVENIENT LOCATION

Review 127:The whole welcome as we first walked in, friendly staff, the way that nature is a factor in the decor, the great sized room with clean amenities and the continental breakfast...we have no complaints at all.

Review 128:The staff was excellent and very helpful We accidently left a tablet in our room and when we went back to get it, they had it waiting for us within a few minutes. Very satisfied and looking forward to staying again.

Review 129:I thought this hotel was excellent value for the money - the room was quite large and very comfortable. I liked being able to drive up to the door of our room. The breakfast room was well appointed and the food tasty!

Review 130:Love the appearance of the front desk area with the woodland theme. The dining area was very comfortable and attractive looking, very much like being in a B & B. Liked the friendly staff too.

Review 131:Not a matter of dislike just an observation, the large parking area around the Inn in a way diminishes the exterior of the Inn. There is however a pond with fountain sitting area that is very appealing.

Review 132:Loved lobby decor. Porch swings etc were very relaxing even just to look at. I slept better than I have for a long time. Even though I was in an economy room it was larger than most, great - new - decor including home style quilts. Liked it all at a very reasonable $$. Staff super.
