Reviews for Bar Harbor Manor
Review 1:Room large, albeit sparsely furnished. Pricey - but in line with similar facilities. Would have preferred breakfast at the facility.
Review 2:New and clean facility. Good location. Helpful staff. Very quiet. Beautifully landscaped entrance. Well decorated rooms and halls. Would certainly choose it again when returning to Bar Harbor.
Review 3:Convenience since we were spending the next day in Acadia National Park. Room was very comfortable. Staff at Front Desk was very cordial and helpful.
Review 4:They held my room when I was delayed due to air travel. The young man at the desk spent 15-20 minutes showing me on map where good places to eat were, how to get to Cadilac Mountain, what were the best places on Schoodic to paint! Wonderful apples to take to my room to munch on before bed. Clean, modern, terrific! Beautiful hydrangeas.
Review 5:Loved that this hotel was within easy walking distance to town and very close to several restaurants. The hotel provided plenty of parking. The daily maid service straightened up the room before we returned from breakfast AND left extra packets of coffee when requested.
Review 6:I liked everything. A little back from the main part of town, but the walk was not that far.
Review 7:The rooms were well-maintained, clean, and nicely decorated.
Review 8:This may sound petty. We were in room 208. The ac is located too close to the bed. I had to deal with air constantly blowing in my face. I deal with a permanent injury to my right hip and am unable to lay on it. It would been great if ac could be where desk was and desk in cubby area. Also, patio light was disruptive and it was unable to be shut off or dimmed.
Review 9:Very kind and professional cleaning staff. Clean and attractive environment. Close to attractions, but not so close to be disrupted.
Review 10:N/A
Review 11:It is situated on Holland Ave and we could walk easily all over downtown Bar Harbor. We were approximately 5 minutes from Hannaford's and Jordan' Restaurant where we enjoyed our breakfast every morning.
Review 12:Perfect location, 10 minute walk to Bar Harbor Village. Free parking, staff was super helpful and warm, really comfortable room, a relaxing experience. We are a couple in our mid 30's, just wanted to get away for a couple days - really was the perfect spot. It was nice to stay in a local place, full of Maine charm.
Review 13:None.
Review 14:This is a small boutique hotel in the heart of the town of Bar Harbor. It is located reasonably close to downtown and restaurants so that it is possible to simply walk to venues and dinner. Of the many places that we have stayed in Bar Harbor, this is one of our clear favorites and one that we anticipate returning to again and again. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and well appointed. They are also well insulated so that they are quiet. There is a small refrigerator and microwave in each room which allowed us to bring in sodas, milk, and snacks. it was also incredibly helpful that the hotel has a stone ramp to the front door if needed and an elevator to upper levels. The flat screen TV was an important plus. The hotel itself is in close proximity to another bed and breakfast that fronts on the street. Thus, road noise is at a minimum. The garden is superb and the staff were incredibly helpful any time that we asked for information or had questions. It was a wonderful trip and we look forward to staying at the Bar Harbor Manor on other visits. It was exactly what we needed.
Review 15:the staff was not hostile but neither helpful. felt like my requests and questions were a bit of chore and very quickly kept it to minimum.
Review 16:rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. the location is quite good but there are plenty to chose from in the same area.
Review 17:They needed sheer covers over the first floor windows to allow daylight to come in. The bed sunk in on the side I was on, too soft. Microwave was too old.
Review 18:The location was excellent; not to close to the hustle & bustle, but close enough to walk to the village. The room was spacious. I liked the sitting area; however, a couple of ottomans or a sofa would have been nice so you could relax without laying on the bed.
Review 19:The front desk staff were helpful in recommending restaurants and giving directions. The location is convenient for walking to shops, restaurants, buses, and the sand bar. I would stay there again.
Review 20:We should have brought our keurig! I guess we are getting lazy in our age, or did not want to take the time to make.. We had full days planned...
Review 21:It was a wonderful stay!! The garden area was a very nice surprise. After busy days it was nice to come back and joy a glass of wine and talk about the day..
Review 22:We opted to stay in the Hotel room, the rooms were very spacious , clean and updated I just felt they lacked that home feeling. Felt too much like a hotel room but that was what I chose
Review 23:The grounds of Bar Harbor Manor are simply beautiful. The flower gardens are stunning. The property is beautiful and location to me was perfect. Close to everything but on a nice quiet street.
Review 24:An outside light shining on balcony could not be turned off at night which precluded sittiing out there in the evening. A little more sound from room above than we usually hear.
Review 25:Quiet even though near downtown Bar Harbor. Spacious room. All new. Balcony.
Review 26:The coffeemaker was too small for us. We usually have 2-3 cups each and would have preferred a regular coffee machine so we could use our own coffee. We do not care for dark roast.
Review 27:The location was very quiet and peaceful, and the grounds were beautifully landscaped.
Review 28:The room we had was very dark, one window, and no view except the back of an adjacent house. shops and resturants were not easily accessible. Was a long walk--Not as described on the website.
Review 29:room was clean and bed comfortable. the inn was quiet.
Review 30:were in old section that needs updating, big time. I know Bar Harbor is an expensive vacation spot and i don't mind paying the price but we paid for what we saw on website and of course they show the newer rooms. I would much prefer a smaller room with updated bed and balcony than suite version in older section. should be a clear choice when reserving!
Review 31:location was practical, we could park the car and walk all over Bar Harbor. Grocery store around corner and just an all round beautiful vacation town
Review 32:Although right in Bar Harbor, this hotel had no New England Charm. It was basically just a hotel room. No view, no pool, no breakfast.
Review 33:Within walking distance of downtown, Acadia park shuttle, harbor, and whale watching tours.
Review 34:Very spacious room with cross ventilation and a terrace where we could feel at home. We could walk to everyplace in town and were right near the road to Acadia. Unlimited coffee/tea in office/lounge area
Review 35:It was fine but didn't have any feel of intimacy. Just like a big motel complex - not quite what we were looking for
Review 36:The room and the bed were both enormous
Review 37:Loved the location and the rooms were very nice. Especially loved having a refrigerator in the room. Also, the front desk personnel were especially helpful!
Review 38:ttje bed and bedding left a lot to be desired. The mattress needs to be replaced it was lumpy and uncomfortable the The sheets and towels were very rough and scratchy. Not the best sleeping environment on our trip for sure
Review 39:the staff was very nice and the external Appearance was lovely
Review 40:ice machine was outside, there was not view of ocean, there was no breakfast
Review 41:hotel was clean, modern and comfortable. Hotel was walking distance to downtown
Review 42:The bed (although a wonderfully large King) was very firm and uncomfortable.
Review 43:LOVED the location (1-2 blocks from downtown and the water!) and the style of room - great value (room with sitting area)
Review 44:Unfortunately, 2 of our 4 days were cold and rainy, but we made the best of it.
Review 45:We've been to Bar Harbor a few times. Like that Acadia National Park is so close by. Plenty of good restaurants. Lodging property was in 'like new' condition.
Review 46:Very quiet street and conveniently located for our needs. Very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the patio for morning coffee. We were pleasantly surprised to find not only a fridge, but a microwave. We were traveling on a budget and that helped greatly!
Review 47:Beautiful rooms and property. Amenities were exactly what we wanted. Just a short walk to all of downtown. Monica and Brandon are wonderful hosts and owners.
Review 48:the cable didn't have great choices but that was OK because we decided to watch Netflix. Oh wait... The WiFi was terrible. With the hotel only half full, too. Also the WiFi is unsecured. If you are not addicted to Netflix and don't need to transmit sensitive info it will not be a problem. Also the bed is tough for short people, especially the mega pillows. Conversely it is probably great for a tall person.
Review 49:We loved the huge room, the huge bathroom and the balcony. It was very quiet. Although we came on the shoulder season there were other guests on our floor and there was never a lot of noise ( voices or plumbing from other rooms). Staff was very friendly and helpful. The shower was great. I kept taking unnecessary showers.
Review 50:first floor of Island House unit could hear all talking and walking from second floor. Bedroom needed room darkening shades.
Review 51:Location was great, rooms were large and nicely furnished.
Review 52:So close to in town Bar Harbor, few blocks walk, very clean, greeted nicely, appeared to be new, spacious room, big refridge, nice to have microwave due to running marathon that was helpful. Decks are nice to have off room, No complaints, will return.
Review 53:I can't think of any think that we didn't like about this place.
Review 54:We were in a two room suite that was very quite and comfortable. The location was good and it was easy to get to the places we wanted to see
Review 55:Staff addressing all of our needs. Cleanliness of rooms and facility outstanding. Easy access to main streets in Bar Harbor. Parking available. Would recommend to all my family and friends Dave. Ohio
Review 56:My wife rolled her ankle stepping off an unmarked kerb outside the front office; kerb should have been painted to distinguish it from the bitumen driveway.
Review 57:Spacious, quiet, comfortable, well-appointed room with a small balcony. Coffee & hot water available in the front office all the time. Room cleaned daily. Close to the town centre, but not affected by traffic. Beautiful village situated in a lovely part of the country.
Review 58:Our flight got canceled at the last minute so I called to let them know we would be a day late (we had planned on 4 nights) They charged us for 4 nights anyway. Also had requested a room with a balcony but they said too bad we don't have any available. I had booked months in advance when I made this request and they have a whole building with balconies. Who knows if they gave up my balcony room when we failed to show due to airline engine trouble and put us across the street for the remainder of our visit.
Review 59:Room was large had a separate bedroom. Refrigerator and microwave was the extent of a kitchen which was fine for us. We planned on eating out anyway. Asked for a wine opener and were provided with one and real glasses as well. We were so busy we didn't really check out the property so not sure what other amenities were offered. Overall nice little place
Review 60:Very convenient location, walking distance to many nice restaurants and bar island. The room is clean, spacious with very comfortable bed even for a pregnant mom in her 3rd trimester.
Review 61:Great Location with plenty of parking. Close to town and restaurants. Got a king size room with balcony, the bathroom is roomy with large counter. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 62:Only negative was the bed was a little high... believe me that was the only complaint.
Review 63:Stayed on the third floor of the newer hotel building. Room was spacious and the balcony was a good treat. The bed was firm and comfortable. Thumbs up all around.
Review 64:King Suite with oversized tub which what I had reserved is not what we got. Room #38 is what we got.King bed was really old and lumpy. Bathroom area toilet paper holder was across room 5 feet away from toilet. All rooms in this per say suite had heavy smell of chemicals. My wife and I were celebrating our 23 Wedding Anniversary surprised at rate we paid for what we got not worth the money. Website pictures look great but what you see in person tells a whole different story. With the Inn being sold out that night we had no options.
Review 65:Close to Down Town
Review 66:Our party of 5 arrived 40 mins before check-in and were told by a woman at the desk that none of our rooms were ready. We walked around and came back 20 mins later and miraculously all rooms were ready. We took her to be a bit rigid and rule-bound re check-in, but the owner seemed more accomodating.
Review 67:The facility is clean and comfortable, and located relatively close to the center of town, and very close to a great breakfast place.
Review 68:It was a little bit further to the downtown area then expected but not too bad. We walked every day.
Review 69:The room had a lot of space and the balcony was nice. The amenities didn't include body lotion and my wife asked if they had any. They didn't. The next day we had body lotion in the room with a nice note thanking my wife for the suggestion.
Review 70:-over priced for what is included -air conditioner woke us up every time it came on
Review 71:close to downtown very clean quiet good parking easy to get to
Review 72:Leaving
Review 73:Spacious; clean; lovely decorated room;individual outside porch;helpful staff; lots of electrical outlets for charging tech items, flower gardens; great location within walking distance of town
Review 74:We expected the suites to be much larger than they were. Also, the view from our room was not at all impressive. We had a leaky faucet. No light in the closet. No hand towel rack in bathroom. All things considered the price did not seem appropriate.
Review 75:* room was to much like a motel * woman on duty Friday was not very friendly * AC did not cool very well * Lights on balcony should have an "off/on" switch so you could open door/not have lights on all night
Review 76:* location was great * man on duty Sunday was delightful
Review 77:This is very minor - and others have said the same - but carrying around an actual key for our room versus a key card was somewhat problematic...
Review 78:From the beginning, staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was spacious, clean, and we enjoyed reading on the balcony. The young ladies who kept our room neat and tidy were efficient and kind. Being located just a short walk from town center was great as we parked the rental and strolled most everywhere.
Review 79:Terrible WiFi - comes and goes and amazingly slow, NO vending of any type on the property - you actually have to walk to the hotel next door to use the machine in the parking lot if you want a soda. Single in-wall HVAC for a 3 room suite with entry foyer means that the main room gets cold while the bedroom stays a little warm. No place, in a suite, to set up a laptop - I had to put it on a side table and turn one of the big wingbacked chairs to face it.
Review 80:Nice room (we had a suite) for a competitive price, good parking, pretty good location, nice and friendly staff, quiet, very comfortable bed. If going with a large group, the suites can be joined to make a really large apartment.
Review 81:Nothing - This is one of the best places we have stayed at on any of our travels
Review 82:The innkeeper was very helpful and friendly, the property is spotless, large rooms were great and the wi-fi worked very well
Review 83:There is no pool on site. We were fine without one but some oeople might see that as a negative.
Review 84:Wonderful place! We were in the newer hotel section. Granite countertops and ceramic tile floors in bathroom made me feel that I was in a much more expensive place. Great location. Could walk to shops and restaurants. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 85:Nothing. It will be a crime to say even one bad word about this hotel : ).
Review 86:Everything: location is perfect, very quiet place, very close to the center of the town, and, as a bonus, on the way to the center we pass the supermarket that otherwise we will miss. Very close to the Acadia Park. Room was very clean, large, nice. We never had any problem with parking. Highly recommend.
Review 87:This was a great hotel. New, about 1 year old. We stayed in the new more modern part but the original part was more like a Victorian inn. Close to everything.
Review 88:No form of breakfast. Other options in area offered this option. It would be easy and inexpensive to offer bagels and muffins near the coffee service.
Review 89:Very clean.
Review 90:Way too much scented air freshener. I don't know if they were trying to cover something up or if they usually spray that much but it was not good. We had to keep the door to the balcony open and the AC going to get rid of the strong scent.
Review 91:Liked the roominess and the open single door onto the balcony. Nicer than a sliding door. Very quiet and peaceful. Very unexpected. We booked last minute and didn't think it would be up to par but we were pleasantly surprised.
Review 92:location, attendants and cleanliness of apartment
Review 93:The knowledgable, friendly and helpful staff offered great suggestions for restaurants and activities..
Review 94:Location to attractions, downtown shopping, restaurants, and National Park. Staff was very helpful with restaurant selections.
Review 95:The room a little too cookie cutter. Although private terrace really nice.

Review 102:Lovely location, beautiful property
Review 103:Easy to get too, especially in usually crowded Bar Harbor. Onsite parking is great. Nice clean rooms, beds were great.
Review 104:Nothing in particular to dislike or complain about - try as I might!
Review 105:Excellent spacious room.
Review 106:Nothing
Review 107:New and very comfortable accommodation. Good location within walking distance to the harbour and all the restaurants.
Review 108:We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was perfect and our suite was very nice and comfortable. The coffee inside the office was amazing!!
Review 109:Lack of general faculties eg no bar, restaurant or gym.
Review 110:The quality of the room itself was very good. Free unlimited coffee was appreciated

Review 112:Clean well furnished room in the hotel portion of the Manor.
Review 113:Facility clean neat and comfortable adequate parking nice balcony
Review 114:Bathroom poorly arranged and too small.
