Reviews for Stevenson's Holliday Inn
Review 1:Warm shower water ran out quickly, walkways were not maintained and were covered in ice, television was tiny.
Review 2:Staff was competent, check in and check out were quick. Room was clean, the heater worked in the winter. Motel was lowest cost in the area, and value for the price was OK.
Review 3:Old, foot print on the bath towel, little tiny tv, really dirty shower curtain with mold, etc. Things that I would mind if I wasn't staying here based on price.
Review 4:Close to NorthStar resort and good price. Has everything you need, and nothing you don't. Cheaper to book online than if you call in person. Heater works.
Review 5:Older, sort of dirty and rundown, small wall heater only so it was sort of cold. Location, and price more than made up for it. I would absolutely stay here again. Also the guy working in the office was very helpful.
Review 6:Filthy accommodation with bedspreads that have probably never been washed and the pillows had multitudes of hair and stains- obviously not washed. Gross: pay more and go elsewhere.
Review 7:Location
Review 8:Everything. It is a dirty place that smells. The appartments are so old, that they should be torn down. There is nothing to renovate. Please close this motel. I dont understand how how can sell this to people. Everthing was disgusting. The pool, the beds, the shower, the floor, the chairs. TV and WiFi werent workng properly...
Review 9:Nothing.
Review 10:Very firm mattress, outdated, dust on everything including table top fan(so disgusting). pool was not what I would go in(even if you dumped chlorine all over), not even a toe! Coffee pot not provided, and you have to request a cup of Joe(watered down).
Review 11:Walking distance to hotel
Review 12:Mildew in the shower. Furniture seems to have been thrown into the room. Pillows are old and flat. Towels are like thin sandpaper. All walls are cracked, have holes or are poorly patched. There's not much of an effort to clean the rooms. This place is getting bulldozed over in a few months and they act like it.
Review 13:The other customers spend most of their stay in the parking lot talking about how a place could be this bad. It's hilarious.
Review 14:Everything about the property was run down. The pool was locked off so it could not be used. The garage under the room we stayed was unable to close because of all the stuff that was stuffed in it. Paint was peeling everywhere. The smoke detector was in pieces when we checked in. I will never be back to this property.
Review 15:The little girl that checked us in was the highlight of the property.
Review 16:This a a DUMP. The place stunk of old sweat and Clorox when asked about the Clorox smell were to,d to was to mask the mold and mildew smell. Avoid this place at all costs!
Review 17:Are you kidding Me? This place should not be listed on any internet site!
Review 18:It is a shame that a motel, in such a wonderful location, has been allowed to become so run down. The owner of this establishment has let the out side buildings, pool, hot tub, and everything else just deteriorate. The inside of the rooms need help, also. Do hope, in the future, that the owners will do something about this problem.
Review 19:We really liked the people who worked at the motel. The manager and housekeepers were so very nice. Did a great job. They made our stay very enjoyable. We also enjoyed the guests.
Review 20:Filthy - stained sheets, stained furniture, moldy shower, ants, fridge held together with tape, uncomfortable bed, damaged toilet seat, smelled like smoke
Review 21:Location is good and there was plenty of parking.
Review 22:The pool has no water in it. This is false advertising. This is not a Holiday Inn by any means. It is a place to lay your head down and take a shower. The advertising is misleading. There is construction going on in the downtown area so the entrance is in the back. No air, very run down. Would not recommend staying here even if it is a deal.
Review 23:Location is great.
Review 24:Weird sliding glass door entry with full view of parking lot. Everyone can see into each room unless curtains are pulled, which blocks natural lighting.
Review 25:Excellent hospitality from staff.
Review 26:Bed very uncomfortable. Hard pillows. Noisy heater. Very small TV difficult to view from bed. Dated and worn out furnishings. Needs a total remodel. No phone in room to call office.
Review 27:Parking right in front of unit. Quiet. Microwave and fridge. Staff was responsive and friendly.
Review 28:Room was old and unwelcoming, upon further inspection, found holes in blankets chairs, also found blood on a pillow. The only entry was sliding glass door which was off track and had a broken frame dangerous in the case of a fire. Water damage in one corner. Condemn this place.
Review 29:Cable tv
Review 30:The shower was poor because the water would randomly go from hot to cold. The tv didn't have a power button anymore and over all nothing was what i payed for.
Review 31:The heater was the only good part about this room.
Review 32:When we drive to nature (hiking, skiing, etc.) we often stay at places hovering around 5 out of 10. What we've learned is: read the reviews, and adjust your expectations. If ten people said sheets were nasty, don’t expect them to be the W Hotel tread count when you arrive. Since we DRIVE, we pack sleeping bags or extra sheets, some towels, and, of course, our pillows. That solves the issue of old stained bedding that the 5-rated tend to offer, and guarantees our good night sleep. We choose based on LOCATION and deal with the rest when we pay pittance in comparison to everything that’s around. Obviously, that does not apply when FLYING, in which case W, rating, prices and expectations apply. BYO bedding to get the value of this place.
Review 33:The owner of Stevenson’s Holiday Inn was super nice to our family, upgraded us to a 2-story unit with separate bedroom for the kids, full kitchen and a fireplace, and plenty of space for all our gear – we didn't ask, we were just mightily surprised when we unlocked the door in the darkness. Kitchen and bath were spotless. WiFi worked well on four devices at one time. Next morning, we asked if we could actually use the fireplace, and the owner came with three loads of logs for us! Now that’s great service by my book, nothing beats boots and mitts drying by the fire on a mini 4-day ski vacation.
Review 34:Hot tub was not working (as advertised), pool was not working (as advertised) and filthy, room was not very clean. For $149/night, I expected much much more and at least a working hot tub for apres ski. Very disappointed.
Review 35:Front desk staff was very nice.
Review 36:Dumpy conditions, dirty carpets I had to ask for a box of kleenex and they reluctantly gave me a box but said they do not provide kleenex, despite an empty box in the room. I did not want to spend much time in the room because it was not a comfortable space.
Review 37:Good location and easy access to Northstar. Heater worked and the room was warm.
Review 38:For the area we felt a Christmas splurge for a real fireplace, with 2 separate bedrooms near the lake shore. Front desk argued with me its too big a place for 2 people. We were tired so just wanted to get in and sleep. Place was a dirty dive for almost 200 a night. first floor bed was soft horrible with dirty used sheets. I had both bad knees but resorted to sleep up the steep stone stairs. Bathroom had no heat, ice cold. Stove was gas and burners did not work. Dingy gray white old thin towels. My son refused to shower and his clean white socks soiled quickly black walking across carpet. Walls thin, heard everything neighbors said throughout night. It was an expensive note to tell others to go elsewhere.
Review 39:Nothing
Review 40:This is the worst motel I've ever stayed in. EVERYTHING was totally worn out. Building/facility maintenance skills are a big ZERO here and probably performed by a 7 year old child. Broken furniture, electrical, plumbing, terrible paint and caulking (by far the worst). Towels, sheets, shower curtain and carpet smelled old and stained. I do not recommend staying here. If you cut prices in half I still would not come back.
Review 41:Kitchen was well equipped.
Review 42:Though the location is not far from the beach, this is vintage Tahoe.....meaning simply, the pool you see in the photo doesn't look like that. The reception area is a bit frightening. There are no lights at night making for treacherous navigating since there are steps and other places that you could easily stumble. Do not expect a hairdryer or shampoo, but there is a small sliver of soap. The beds were OK as beds go. Bedspread had seen much better days as had the blankets. I almost left when I saw the shape of the property. This would be good, I guess, for some single guys or gals who really don't care about where they stay, as long as it is close to a beach...........which, in Kings Beach, most motels are. I would not ever stay here again. Didn't feel safe or secure. And, by the way, this is NOT a Holiday Inn.
Review 43:nothing
Review 44:Could do with spending some money updating the property ...cracked wash basin, old lamps, strange wiring system. Don't advertise wifi if it generally doesn't work!
Review 45:Good location for beach.
Review 46:We stayed overnight and it was good stay for the money. The staff was extremely helpful. We had a flat tire and they helped us fix it since Sunday most of the auto repair shops were closed and we did not know how far our car could drive. Thank you
Review 47:old, flat, yellow pillows that need to be thrown away. No mattress pad. Dirty head board. Filthy sliding glass door that can be unlocked by pulling hard. Lights that don't work Holes in the wall, 80's wall paper peeling, horrible caulking job through out, toilet seat even needed to be replaced. Ugly painting with in, and dirty door frames. Just yucky all the way around. Pool out of order and ugly and murky Restaurant next door continually calling people to their food on a loud speaker.
Review 48:location. We love Kings Beach. But never again at this motel!
Review 49:Manager (owner?) & family had been in control for over 18 years but property and rooms were in a very poor state of repair. It appeared that when something broke it was never to be put right. So many examples from toilet roll holder, sink plug, table leg falling off, doors not closing properly, sticking locks, and continued outside the room to swimming pool fence tied up with string, broken glass, unclean surfaces..........and etc.
Review 50:The floor was dirty, the walls were missing paint and mixed colors, the tile was stained and there was food crumbs. There was no toilet paper or tissue upon arrival, no shampoo was provided only body soap. The rate was incredibly expensive for one bed one night, however understandable because of the location. There was a table but no chair and there was only one lamp in the room.
Review 51:Right in the middle of town, close to the beach and the porch attached to the room was nice.
Review 52:Hotel was funky! Fortunately, they didn't have a 2 bed room so they transferred us to the Sun and Sand hotel, which had an even better location, but was not much better for cleanliness. Staff was nice but hotel was shabby. Hot tub had a science experiment floating in it. Everything was just barely meeting health standards. Even Days Inn and Motel 6 have switched to flat screen tv's. I recommend that they invest some money in fixing the place up. They probably won't because their location is so good they will always be booked.
Review 53:Location, Location, Location! Walking distance to shops and restaurants, right on the beach. We walked 20 feet out our door and rented Jet skis.
Review 54:The photos on website were not even close to reality. False advertising for sure. Dated mismatched furniture. Dusty, dirty smelly rooms. Torn, wrinkled sheets. In room Refrigerator not working. No AC but did have a fan with layers of dust and grime. Dirty microwave. Antique TV. No coffee pot. Broken ice maker in marginally maintained pool spa area. Planter boxes dried up with dead weeds. Even with draught, they could have been cleaned up. Cannot believe Booking.com would even have this place on their list.
Review 55:Manager did change our room and gave us clean sheets, comforter, another fan, a portable frig since the inroom one didn't work. But, It overheated and we almost had a fire. He let us put our food in another unoccupied room. He tried to be accommodating with what little he had to work with. The cleaning lady was nice too. In the parking lot we had conversations with others who had similar experiences.
Review 56:Neil was a pleasure to work with! He even went out of his way to help us get our concert tickets printed. Thank you, Neil!
Review 57:Dirty bed Dirty and non inviting washroom Heater doesn't do its job
Review 58:Deferred maintenence of room.
Review 59:Lots of room.
Review 60:Room was dated and bed uncomfortable
Review 61:very peaceful and quiet, very simple and you really enjoy going to sleep., and affordable.
Review 62:Everything is dirty. Don't stay there. You waste your money. Filthy!.
Review 63:Room wasn't ready in time, pool is filthy
Review 64:Separate rooms
Review 65:Very dirty - mold on the shower curtain which we did not use as we couldn't get out of there fast enough
Review 66:Bed bugs. Towels weren't clean.
Review 67:Location.
Review 68:Nothing!
Review 69:Good customer service! Interesting styled room!
Review 70:Breakfast not good.
Review 71:Walking distance from main attractions
Review 72:Bulldoze it
Review 73:FRIDGE DIDNT. work
Review 74:Staff helpful, friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable of city.
Review 75:Greasy stove
Review 76:Very accommodating for disabled Petfriendliness with yard.
Review 77:Room didn't have microwave as advertised, refrigerator didn't keep food cold enough. It was noisy, dated, dirty, spider infested.
Review 78:The location
Review 79:A P Availability of green area A
Review 80:It was the most run down place I have ever been. SO run down, didn't even have a shower head, so dirty. NO AC, a sad fan.
Review 81:Location was okay.
Review 82:The shower room forcets old and malfunction. And no indication to show which direction hot and cold water, we got burn from hot water.
Review 83:none
Review 84:Big window at front of unit didn't lock and you need an adapter to accomodate a three prong plug.
Review 85:It fit our budget and location parameters.
Review 86:Neal, the Manager was very nice. Had a game room where we played ping pong.
Review 87:Place needs a renovation
Review 88:Older facility, not very clean, and we had no hot water. Had to walk to another room to shower.
Review 89:Very nice location and staff
Review 90:Needed a coffee maker in the room.
Review 91:very nice staff; extremely accomodating. Walking distance to the beach
Review 92:old run down people screaming in parking lot. while not "dirty" it is old and grungy
Review 93:It was fine
Review 94:The location to the beach was great
Review 95:Our bed looked liked the sheets had not been changed from the people before us
Review 96:People were very friendly
Review 97:It truly needs to be remodeled
Review 98:Friendliness
Review 99:staff could be more accomodating
Review 100:It's good value for the money; location is good
Review 101:Pool and ice machine not working
Review 102:Handy to beach and food places.
Review 103:Unclean unmaintained
Review 104:Dirtiness of room, pool too cloudy to swim in, hot tub broken, bedding looked dirty,
Review 105:Pretty run down. No water in pool. Never did get the password for Wi-fi.
Review 106:Close to a sandy beach. Very quiet. Easy walk to a few shops and restaurants. Very laid back
Review 107:The 'hotel' is total disaster - dirty, not maintenated and ugly. Beside that we have fier to get some insects or diseases, that was the reason that immediately after arrival and checking the situation we canceled our reservation and found another hotel in next town. I would like to inform you that such 'hotel' could not be standard for 'booking' reservation. Even the procedure not support this kind of cancelation I will not pay for this reservation. In last three weeks of our trip in USA we were in many hotels but nothing like this one. I hope you understand the situation and will not charge the night we spent in other hotel. We are frequent user of 'booking' hotel reservation and in hope of our further cooperation I expect total understandig of situation. Kind regards.
Review 108:Nothing. Employee (Suzanne Shields) totaly understand the situation and understand our cancelation.
Review 109:My thirteen year old son and I were up for a 3 day basketball tournament in Reno and needed affordable lodging nearby. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. I would recommend this motel and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Review 110:No Coffee Maker, Sheets did not fit bed totally
Review 111:The Staff was Awesome, Made a mistake and corrected it and was very pleased with our stay, Not a 5 star ad if that is what you are used to dont go. Very down to earth and awesome time. Thanks
Review 112:The list of things that I did not like is long. A few examples: we had to change the room because of the giant ants in the bathroom, the shower curtain in the other room was beyond disgusting, the towels in the bathroom were not washed after previous usage, the front desk office looked like it was never cleaned. I am not going there ever again.
Review 113:The reason I made the reservation without seeing the place was the price. I liked that there was hot water all the time and Wi-Fi connection. That it all.
Review 114:It was filthy!! Hair on the sheets, toilet leaked all over the floor, shower was dirty, light bulbs were burned out or broken. I wouldn't let my dogs stay here. It was gross.
Review 115:Nothing!!!
Review 116:Did not have coffee maker in room, carpet seemed to need a goodcleaning (or be replaced), mold on shower curtain. There was an in roommicrowave and refrig--both had to be moved to other parts of the roomfor an outlet.
Review 117:Proximity to location of event I was attending, also price
Review 118:Mold on shower curtain. Saggy cheap ancient mattress. Loose windowscreen (no ac). Overpriced even at $59+tax.
Review 119:Located where I mistakenly wanted to be. Very nice and courteous man atfront desk.
Review 120:The building maintenance was non-existent. Flower planters with deadflowers or weeds. Bathroom doors needed planing. They didn't closesecurely. Housekeeping was lax. The beds were clean but dusting offurniture was not done. There was the beginning of mold in the shower. The pool appeared to need cleaning. My general impression was that thisis an older property which originally was excellent for families,by thedesign, but it has been non maintained and has become a "flophouse." Some lamps do not work.
Review 121:The location was great . The room floor plans were interesting in thedouble double choice.
Review 122:Ants in room ... no mattress cover on the bed ... no fitted sheets onthe bed ... bad décor ... smashed in walls in bath room ... the fridgekept turning off and on ... dirty surroundings ... awful awful awful ...misleading ... Holliday Inn ... we thought that we were staying at aHoliday Inn ... the place needs painting in and out ... it could be alovely little Inn ... but it needs at least one mil in renovations ... Iwould never under any circumstances return to this facility.
Review 123:I liked absolutely nothing about this place ...my husband thought thatthe bed was comfortable
Review 124:Furniture was old and dirty. Lightbulbs were hanging out of bathroomfixtures. Front door did not latch; only way to secure door was bybolting it. Carpet was very dark blue color; my wife was convinced itwas that color to hide the dirt. I paid for the 2 night stay before Isaw the room. That was a mistake; had I seen the room first, I wouldhave not stayed there. My advice: stay somewhere else.
Review 125:Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Place was quiet, but that mayhave been because place was empty; perhaps 2 or 3 other cars were parkedthere the 2 nights we were there.
Review 126:It was dirty, gross, run down and not maintained at all. The pics postedlooked as if they came from another location. We were concerned for ourhealth and thankful we had only booked one night. This should be anembarrassment to have on your booking sight.
Review 127:Absolutely nothing!!!
Review 128:Wow that was the worst place I've ever been! And I've beentravelling in 24 countries for one year... The smell in room was justhorrible: a mix of dog urine (?!) and poop. So bad! The staff reallydoesn't care about it. It's a good location hotel, they havecustomers, they won't change anything.
Review 129:The fellow who ran the place was very friendly, however, I must say this was one of the worst places I've ever stayed. Truly. Not clean, the sheets didn't even reach the edges of the bed, pillows with only tapestry coverings no pillowcases, burned out bare lightbulbs in bathroom. Really bad.
Review 130:It was the only place that had availability when I was needing a place to stay
