Reviews for Good Hotel
Review 1:The coffee machine inside the room is basically useless - no idea how/if it actually worked, even with miminal instructions on the lid, and what it produced was terrible. Also, bike rental was a bit of a joke, as I tried two seperate bikes and neither worked properly. Not in good condition!
Review 2:Very friendly and accommodating staff, with good taqueria recommendations.
Review 3:Hotel smelled like weed which was very unattractive. The room was freezing and I had no thermostat. Front desk told me there was one in my room, but there wasn't. Maintenance came and helped me get heater working though and very fast!
Review 4:Staff was very friendly and helpful. I felt very safe.
Review 5:Management cancelled my reservation after I complained about questionable accounting practices. The hotel was significantly over authorizing hotel charges (more than 250 percent). Do not stay here unless you are asking to be raked over the coals.
Review 6:Only thing lacking is a mini-fridge or cooler in the room for groceries.
Review 7:Tidy room, wood fixtures, natural fiber fabric, meditation pillow, hot water/coffee thingy in room, safe for laptop, clip on lamp for bedtime reading, non-perfume shampoo/soap, laundry drying line in the shower. Super friendly and helpful staff.
Review 8:I'd rather have a full-fetched desk and comfortable chair rather than a small shelf-like high table/chair.
Review 9:Room is cute and modern with a good contemporary vibe.
Review 10:The area between the hotel and the city centre feels really unsafe. A sad indictment of SF's rich poor divide, I guess. I'm pretty hardy though but felt genuinely scared at times.
Review 11:The hotel itself is fine - the rooms are spacious by city standards and pretty comfortable. Be sure to try the pool available across the road. Floating under the stars in the warm water is a delight!
Review 12:No air con, rooms are very hot even when cold outside (was never above 20 degrees the whole time we were in san fran) ceiling fans are on a timer so you can't sleep with them on. Beds are hard. Was clean though. Reception somehow stuffed up and charged my credit card more then 4x the price of our stay. Over $4000 AUS. No one could give an answer why, promised call backs, never got them. Poor service in that regard. Took about 2 weeks to get my money back.
Review 13:Staff was rude, unknowlegeable. Parked one day on lot and they charged me for 5 days of parking. They charged my card twice!!!!!! Room extremely tiny. Carpet super dirty, ac did not work. No heat... They brought us in a tiny portable heater.
Review 14:The only good thing about this place is that it's near to major transportation. Area very sketchy
Review 15:Smaller and more spartan than expected. Nice place but would have liked more for the cost. Morning clerk was super nice but late night clerk gruff and awkward.
Review 16:Good location, checkin was available late, easy checkin and out.
Review 17:Room is terrible. Reminded me of a college dorm room. In the bed nowhere to sit except for one plastic chair, a wire framed elevated chair, and bed. Recommended place to eat was called Custom Burger. It was a greasy spoon diner not a restaurant. Parking was $35.00 bucks a day. Very cheap looking. Should be called MOTEL not HOTEL
Review 18:Daytime front desk manager Paul was excellent. The cleaning staff was extremely kind and more then helpful.
Review 19:I was disappointed in the hotel for the cost. The pictures of the hotel are from right after the remodeling. Now it looks pretty beat up. The room design is also weird. My room didn't have a closet but had a huge bathroom with a ton of unused space.
Review 20:Good location for seeing downtown. Clean hotel and rooms. The staff was very helpful. The parking lot was full and I didn't have anywhere to park so one of the hotel employees was awesome and gave me his spot!
Review 21:Conference center is on 4th. By 6th street the neighborhood changes to unsavory. Beyond 7th it goes down further to the potentially dangerous tenderloin.
Review 22:I stayed here for conference center. Walking distance to Marconi. For the area it is a resonable price.
Review 23:Amenities, facilities are getting a bit basic as the price seems to rise
Review 24:The location, rooms (in other visits not this time), price (relative to location and facilities)
Review 25:This is not a good hotel. Be warned!!! The hotel is in an awful part of town. Walk in daylight or you will be tripping over angry homeless people. The hotel itself prices itself as a trendy boutique hotel in a great town. Our room was smelly, no aircon, the fan over our bed turned itself off. We stayed there 3 nights and every night woke up stiflingly hot! The staff on arrival were bored by us?!? This is the first review I have ever written about a hotel. My advise is simple... For an overnight ... This is expensive but adequate.. Drive/Taxi to location... For more than two nights avoid. We preferred to stay away or go to the cinema than return to our room. Very disappointed. We were on our honeymoon around America... The reviews posted were misleading... This was one of the most expensive ... Which wouldn't have bothered us if it was nice. The only redeeming of the hotel are the cleaning staff, who we tipped generously.
Review 26:First off, this was a Motel, NOT a Hotel. It was very overpriced (explanation was due to high demand for Outside Lands but still way overpriced for this place). The self parking was ridiculous, trying to maneuver in and out of the very tight spaces was quite challenging.
Review 27:The location was great and the room was modern and clean.
Review 28:If you want food or printing/scanning or change of $20, you need to go to next door or across street to Best Western or Carriage Inn, courtyard room views are of carport and windows/doors of neighboring motels so no privacy if opening windows, no refrigerator in room, telephone volume very low even when turned all the way up
Review 29:Located across from courthouse, very comfortable bed. Shuttle to SFO ordered at front desk for $16, windows open for fresh air, complimentary coffee/tea in lobby in morning (but not the ones supplied in your room), bottled water in room, safe in room
Review 30:We faced 7th Street and it was extremely loud, with the homeless yelling and the police sirens all night. We did get a real chuckle that the floor in our room was not level. The whole hotel felt passed it's prime.
Review 31:The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was really comfortable.
Review 32:We booked in Good Hotel but they sent us to Best Western. Both hotel charged our card despite of that we paid in cash on the spot. They blocked the card for many days even though they promised not to block.
Review 33:Not enough pillows/blankets. Never answered the phone when calling the front desk from room.
Review 34:Extremely cute and quirky. Loved the decor. Colored clocks and photo booth covered walls were really fun and different. Rooms have different unusual art, which I absolutely loved.
Review 35:Paying for parking. lol
Review 36:The staff is friendly without being annoying. The Good Hotel leaves you alone to do your own thing in the city. The rooms are very basic following the whole "good" for the environment theme.
Review 37:Expensive hotel considering location and no breakfast. A couple of slices of toast and fruit juice/coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and some pieces of fruit is fairly standard in all motels, which if offered would make a big difference, which is standard in pretty much every motel. Although the bedroom is nicely presented and clean, the carpet in the halls is manky dirty with black gunky stains all over the place.
Review 38:Fairly nice hotel room with private bathroom. Free wifi although quite slow. Working escalator. Friendly chatty staff. Car Parking offered.
Review 39:It had more of a hostel vibe than I expected from the website and also the price. The area wasn't the greatest and some upfront advice from the hotel on that would have been good,
Review 40:The hotel was clean and no nonsense, staff were helpful and replaced a broken hair dryer in minutes
Review 41:The rooms are very cold and doomed, it feels unsafe and the feeling is like it is a motel, breakfasts are not available and stuff couldn't recommend the place except Custom burger
Review 42:I loved the idea of bicycle rent in the hotel, but everytime the bicycles were away
Review 43:Way smaller than what appears on the website. Wasn't as fresh appearing as what appeared as well. I was pretty disappointed with what I was given for what I paid. It was basically a basic motel with Ikea furniture.
Review 44:Our view was a concrete wall, No real air conditioner, fans didn't work, no breakfast (except for coffee)
Review 45:Room was nice and clean, Wifi had it problems, but was good overall, clean and silent, modern, IPod Docking Station in the room (but only for IPhones up to the 4th generation)
Review 46:Staff was ok but didn't seem to want to discuss much or spend much time with you. They were polite to us though. Breakfast within the Good Hotel would have been nice
Review 47:bed was very good and room was clean and neat. Overall happy with the place, could sleep well
Review 48:I was first checked into a tiny smelly room that was yet to be cleaned before being moved to one outside. This was slightly bigger but the house keeping staff talked loudly outside the room at all hours. You can hear everything from inside the rooms. The sink leaked all over the floor whenever it was full.
Review 49:the location was convenient.
Review 50:The description of the hotel in the website makes you think it's a better place. It's way too noisy and so cold by night, there's no heating in the room. the room was too small and there was a funny smell. As it's located in a main avenue then you can hear so many car and busses as tye glasses are not against noises.
Review 51:The location is very good, there are many busses and street cars routes around.
Review 52:very noisey stay, lots of street noise and come interesting goings on. Front desk person was pretty attentitive to keeping us safe. Had to call security one night due to drunk neighboors.
Review 53:clean rooms, centrally located. Great location to get on bus or BART.
Review 54:there was no toner for the photo booth :)
Review 55:great location near city centre, basic but tasteful facilities with nice green ethos, friendly staff and free wifi. Loved the water recycling toilet!
Review 56:Can be noisy if room faces main road - ask for a room that doesn't face this. Expensive for what you get, but that's San Fran!
Review 57:Nice eco-hotel, easy to find, close to Bart station, clean, good wif-fi, great hamburger place over the road with good veggie options!
Review 58:(1) Some clumsy design choices -- i.e., bathroom door literally could not close because heavy headboard in bedroom was in its way -- no one thought to fix that? I did not want to go to sleep with a toilet just a few feet away from my bed; (2) The room was FREEZING in mid-Feb 2015 with an air system that did not work and a small space heater that barely worked to warm the space. I literally slept in a sweatshirt/hoodie (which I was lucky to have) and had to ask for an extra blanket for the bed which had insufficient bedding; (3) The first room I checked into smelled...the second one was better but freezing and the bathroom door could not close. I shouldn't have to move more than 2x just to find an acceptable room in a hotel with lots of available rooms on any given day; (4) I originally considered staying for days but after that experience, I checked out the very next morning to avoid the exhaust or hassle. I arrived late from a long flight with layovers that day and I really wish I could have better things to say about this hotel as I really adored the concept. However, my experience was that the staff is AWESOME and they do their best within their limitations, that even the eco-friendly concept (the whole reason I chose them) is GREAT, but all in all, it was a bit rough around the edges. Lastly: (5) Breakfast -- I'm not fond of the idea that you literally have to go to another hotel across the street just to have breakfast in that hotel's restaurant? That's the first time I've ever seen that in any hotel I've visited anywhere in the world, even hostels. I believe Good Hotel should try to get some in-house meal system going if they can. Going to to other hotel actually exposed me to the very idea that other options in the area were available and I'm more likely now to try that other hotel on a future visit to SF.
Review 59:Extraordinarily friendly staff. They were some of the sweetest, most professional hotel staff I've ever met. Great breakfast nearby (albeit somewhat oddly, at a different hotel's restaurant). A great 'concept', overall, that still needs tweaks.
Review 60:water trickled too slowly and scarce (understood that it's for drought but we felt we wasted more water washing and keeping the faucet on longer) bed was a bit hard room is a bit cold (unwelcoming) not enough parking why do you charge customers for a parking fee when they park in your own facility? bad for business :-(
Review 61:its a few blocks away from our event competitively priced modern design friendly staff own parking lot but if you get there too late you have to park in sister hotel which is a bit of a walk
Review 62:That most of the rooms have a pretty healthy internet and some rooms have horrible internet it needs to be fixed .
Review 63:I like how the staff treats you like family.
Review 64:The location. 7th is one of the noisiest streets in SF. Cars, trucks, shouting panhandlers had me up 4 nighte in a row. The price: for the money we pais, we expected the four seasons, but got a motel 6
Review 65:I liked the bikes and the photobooth. Staff was ok.
Review 66:Nothing really, I found the Good Hotel to be "great".
Review 67:Hotel is a short (15 minute), flat walk to Moscone. Area is not too bad for San Fran. The room was extremely clean, comfortable and quiet.
Review 68:My room had a funky smell and it was quite warm even with the windows open. I tried to turn on the fan but it only had one speed and I thought it was going to pull the ceiling down it was so fast. Not the most luxurious room I have stayed in for $450 a night, but when the city is sold out the rates are going to be high.
Review 69:I was attending Dreamforce and the location was within a good walking distance to the Moscone Center. I wouldn't say it was the best neighborhood, but I didn't feel unsafe. The staff were very nice and helpful. My room had everything I needed.
Review 70:This is a very very basic hotel. There is no zircon, no food, no bar, no facilities apart from rooms and a (small) reception desk. The walls are very thin so you can easily hear what is going on in the room next door.
Review 71:There was a bed and it was reasonably clean.
Review 72:Room pictures look young, fresh and friendly on the web...my first room at parking level was of miserable quality (used carpet, old paint on walls,..). Second room still above the parking a bit better...
Review 73:Quite close to Union Square and Moscone Center
Review 74:The Good Hotel is situated in the area that is a little dodgy. The 5th and 7th street do not seem safe place after 6 PM. It was a bit of a shock to the system - a lot of the homeless and gangs of people hang out on the street. Noting happened on our walk but it would make you a little nervous.
Review 75:It is a pretty standard room, clean and comfortable. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.
Review 76:- WIFI wasn't working and the hotel staff couldn't solve it and made me call their internet provider customer support at 1 am instead of doing it themselves. - Night clerk disturbed sleep calling late at night by mistake. - Very small room. - Very small place for breakfast. - Parking unbelievably expensive and almost mandatory, since you can't park elsewhere.
Review 77:Almost nothing. The recycling and ecological theme of the hotel was nice, but not really implemented in practice.
Review 78:- Mattress needed changing. - Homeless people and junkies around - didn't always feel very safe walking around there alone. (They are everywhere in downtown SF, though, not just this particular area.)
Review 79:- Fantastic location for someone planning to walk around SF. - Possibility to borrow a bike. - Water-saving toilet with a little wash basin on top of it. - Helpful staff.
Review 80:Rooms have a funny smell Beds are not comfortable Shower is very small while bathroom us huge. There is no place to hang towels. It us a green hotel but provide disposable cups. There is no mirror in the room, only the one in the bathroom which is a challenge if you are traveling in group.
Review 81:Location Customer service (Excellent staff) Affordable price
Review 82:Over priced. Our room smelled a bit and walls were paper thin. Garages directly under the room so you wake up Everytime someone comes home or leaves.
Review 83:Rooms look nice
Review 84:the smell of the rooms and elevator. on the whole it was clean, however it smelt incredibly bad. Given it was like £150/ night it was expensive for the quality, however that may just be SF.
Review 85:location was ok
Review 86:The hotel is located in SOMA which is not the best area of town. The bathroom was rather small in my room.
Review 87:The bed is nice and firm. Wifi is working fine. Kind and helpful staff. As good, simple straightforward hotel. Public transport is very close by.
Review 88:WiFi was patchy - most of the time it failed to connect. Lots of street noise at night if room windows access street. Also drilling and work noise from refurbishment work.
Review 89:Hard working and helpful desk staff
Review 90:Poor hotel !! No air conditioner!! Window can't open!! A ceiling fan turn off every 15 min. Shower will take 3 times longer because water savety!!
Review 91:Usually hotel WiFi are quite slow but Good Hotel's one was completely unusable. The courtyard rooms have a lot of noise, being it from the construction or homeless people wandering around 7th, so you might not like that if you're a light sleeper.
Review 92:free bike is more a promotion gag. 3 or 4 bikes ? its not realistic to get one, they told us it starts 8.00 in the morning, but the bikes are away at 7.45 - people are waiting for it! forget the bike! its lottery to get one.
Review 93:location is practically. near un plaza but near tenderloin too. central location for touristic trips around... WLAN perfect room-cleaning personal is great.
Review 94:Unfortunately, the walls are also very thin, so loud jackholes in the hallway can make for a very poor night's sleep.
Review 95:For its location, we had very little street noise. Room was small but cozy and very clean.
Review 96:Helpful staff, the housekeeping where amazing. Room had really cool details, bike rentals & photo booth in lobby. We stayed here after we got hitched at City Hall, very close to the city district.
Review 97:I believe that parking should be included in the price of the hotel and not be an extra charge.
Review 98:Nice cozy location
Review 99:Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, great location for going out.
Review 100:No breakfast included, plenty of homeless around the area
Review 101:Location
Review 102:Parking costs too much and no enough spots, so inconvience
Review 103:The 150 deposit for using the bicycle
Review 104:weird smell in the building
Review 105:conveniently located for conferences at the Moscone centre
Review 106:I've stayed there the last three or four times in SF. Friendly, homey, central, non formal!
Review 107:The room is very outdated. It is like a cheap motel.
Review 108:Location and Vietnamese restaurant nearby
Review 109:The recepción and the missimformation about the block of money for insurance.
Review 110:The cleaness, the comfortabillities, and installation.
Review 111:Nothing!
Review 112:The relaxed atmosphere. Friendliness of the staff. It has a homey quality. Eco active! Central!
Review 113:Unfriendly staffs, they charged my credit card twice.
Review 114:Location, Cleanliness, nice roomkeeper
Review 115:Nothing wrong
Review 116:Front desk sfAff is very helpful ur
Review 117:Understanding at checkout time
Review 118:Nice and good value
Review 119:Staff were not all friendly and room was cold so asked for extra blankets that were not delivered till 2nd night
Review 120:The hotel has a very good localisation with the Subway at less than 5 minutes by feet. And it is near of the cable car And shopping streets!!
Review 121:Location an stay was great I would stay again
Review 122:Small room. No table for working.
Review 123:Clean room. Calm.
Review 124:Carnets on Floor
Review 125:Beware -It does not look anything like the photos!
Review 126:No air con, wanted to rent bikes and they were not safe to use at all, no fridge, some staff were unfriendly.
Review 127:Location Location ...
Review 128:This is not false advertising. Very good hotel!
Review 129:Forty, smelly, rude staff
Review 130:Wifi, near a lot of places.
Review 131:It was a fine experience just not a special experience.
Review 132:The cleanliness and location.
