Reviews for Highbrook Motel
Review 1:I liked that it was like Maine, simple but perfectly comfortable, some old-fashioned bits like the wall heaters, not fancy and corporate. Easy to get into town.
Review 2:Grab and go breakfast with the steel cut oatmeal and breakfast sandwiches was fabulous and included in price. Obviously a well cared for family run operation, with attention to every detail.
Review 3:Great service, very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff, good location ~15min walk from the Bar Harbor center and ~15min drive to the summit of Cadillac Mountain.
Review 4:Very nice room. Clean and nice, very small bathroom. The staff is very friendly. The price is pretty high for having no amnnities. If you smoke know that this is a smoke free property and you have to go off the property to smoke, not just outside the room.
Review 5:We had to move rooms, but that wasn't the motel's fault--we decided to stay an additional night--at least they had a room!
Review 6:The view from our balcony
Review 7:Rooms are very clean. Very quiet at night. Grab and go breakfast was nice - including steel cut oatmeal with maple syrup. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 8:Nothing to report
Review 9:This family run motel is a pure gem,10 out of 10.Comfortable,clean,free WiFi,spacious rooms, comfortable beds, copious breakfast, close to Bar Harbor and to the entrance to the National Park. The staff is friendly, helpful, ready to answer any questions. The stay at the motel was a pleasure,if ever we go to Bar Harbor we'll stay again.
Review 10:EVERYTHING!! The location was ideal and easily accessible to the Island Explorer as well as Acadia. The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant! We loved our bright, clean, and very spacious room!
Review 11:We were charged $25 by booking through Bookings.com. Price was same as saw on Internet.
Review 12:The building was older but the room was nice with a good bed, plenty of room, exceptionally clean; no noise from adjoining rooms or street; people were nice and helpful.
Review 13:Great advice on everything from how to get places, where to eat, what to see. Breakfast is a delight. Loved the old fashioned feel and friendliness of a family run place.
Review 14:If we could have, we would have stayed even longer!
Review 15:We really enjoyed our stay at Highbrook. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and even provided lots of information about the local area at check-in. The facilities were very good and the room was cleaned to a very high standard. There was also a good, varied breakfast provided in the morning.
Review 16:Quaint little place with very nice spacious rooms, friendly helpful staff. Mom and pop kind of place. Assigned parking in front of your room. Cozy and relaxing.
Review 17:The location was great…walk to downtown Bar Harbor, or a short bike ride into Acadia Park on lightly traveled roads. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are large and very clean, and the grab and go breakfast was a nice touch. There is a free bus that goes all over the island and stops right in front of the hotel every 15 or 30 minutes throughout the day.
Review 18:Wifi signal was weak, but that is my only complaint
Review 19:Welcoming staff, quiet, attractive furnishings, away from crowds of the downtown area, but close enough to be a nice walk to town for dining, shows and shopping. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 20:Lovely, local establishment is a nice break from the chain hotels. Place close to town quiet. Breakfast was and convenient for heading out on the morning.
Review 21:NOTHING!!! All good :)
Review 22:I liked everything about this hotel. Extremelly clean!!!! People working here are very nice and helpfull. The location is excellent. The breakfast is outstanding!!!
Review 23:A one mile walk into downtown Bar Harbor. Contrary to what we were told at check-in, the shuttle does not stop at the motel. We got off at the closest stop and walked across the highway.
Review 24:Very clean, large rooms. Very good "grab and go" breakfast. We stayed in the uphill building, which was quieter and further from the highway.
Review 25:We stayed three days. The motel is well maintained, and has a nice appearance. The room was very clean every day. As the motel is about one-mile from town, it is generally quiet, except for vehicle traffic on the nearby road. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 26:Bathroom very small and old. Continental breakfast had to be brought to your room since there was no place to eat it. Lobby is small as well.
Review 27:Room was spacious
Review 28:Although we opened the window, the shower fogged up the bathroom and everything became damp. An exhaust fan would have taken care of the problem. But we loved the place and wished we had reserved more than one night.
Review 29:Beds were comfortable, front porch was great for simply sitting and chatting. It wasn't right on top of the road and we felt at home. Great staff, very knowledgeable and helpful.
Review 30:We travelled 3 weeks through New England but in point of kind service this was our TOP accomodation. Due to an injury of mine we had to move our arrival date for 3 days (without any problem). Even shorten the stay from 3 to 2 nights was done (including reimbursement - not needed based on contractual conditions). The location is good (very near Bar Harbor and the entrance of the Acadia National Park), the rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast was a "takeaway breakfast" but with everything you need: coffee, hot oats, nuts/raisins, fruits, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, marmelade, ... Really a recommendation this Highbrooke Motel!
Review 31:Nothing to complain about.
Review 32:Friendly welcome and ease with which our request to stay an extra night was dealt with. Lovely, clean room with excellent facilities. Although not right in town, it's an easy walk to get there. Good breakfast.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Driving up to the picture window with all the lamps on was like driving to be a guest at a home. You could eat off the floor in our room. I mean everything was spotless. I loved the two pretty overstuffed chairs by the lamp table. The soft green walls and drapes and dust ruffle to match. I truly felt lika a guest in a nice home. The staff is friendly, helpful and nice. It is right next to Acadia National Park and in a very convenient location. Loved this place and loved Bar Harbor!
Review 35:The wifi in the second (back) building was not always available to connect to.
Review 36:The property is well maintained and scrupulously clean. The daily maid service is exceptional. The daily morning "grab and go" breakfast is more than adequate.
Review 37:Stayed for one night at Highbrook Motel, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We chose this hotel because it is extremely close to Acadia Park/ Cadillac Mountain. Which I would recommend to anyone who wants to catch an awesome sunrise. Tons of people wake up early and head to the top of the mountain, definitely worth waking up at 5:00AM!
Review 38:Reminded me of places I used to stay at with my parents. I usually stay at "fancier" places but this motel really had everything you could want as a base for hiking in Acadia Park and visiting Bar Harbor.
Review 39:No one's fault - but the bathroom is a little cramped w/ verylittle space to lay things out in the standard room (older motel, soit's just the layout) - making it a bit of a challenge to do hair& make-up. A little thing...
Review 40:Older motel w/ charachter. The place was spotless & everythingin working order! The owners & staff were great people. I was giventips on where to go, directions & maps, and advised where to eat inBar Harbor. The location was perfect for going to Bar Harbor &Acadia. Smack dab in the middle of the two. Folks were responsive too. Ihave a bad neck, and the nice soft down pillows were probably great forthe majority of travelers but gave me fits my first night. I mentionedit the next morning & had all new, firmer pillows within the hour.Really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast sandwiches to eat on my wayinto the park each morning!! I'd stay again.
Review 41:Large comfortable apartment. Good complimentary breakfast. On a shuttle service to the centre a mile away - though it closes down too early to bring you back after a dinner in town. Located on the National Park entrance side of town.
Review 42:Highbrook Street was in very poor condition leading up to the upper section of their room units. Had to drive down to the office for breakfast, but would have to say we realized it was nice to bag up and collect breakfast choices and take them to the room to have at the table in our room.
Review 43:The staff went above and beyond, giving suggestions, directions, information necessary to make our vacation all that it could be. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of different choices, (i.e. english muffins with egg, bacon & cheese; bagels, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, different spreads, oatmeal, coffee, tea, hot chocolate). The fact that there were two separate sinks, one in the bathroom and one just around the corner from the bathroom, which made it convenient for both of us to get around at the same time. Had a choice of hard or soft pillows. We could park our car right outside the door of our room.
Review 44:We think that the grab and go breakfast should be offered later than 10 am. Some of us like to sleep in a little. Lack of lounge chairs to sit outside under the trees.
Review 45:The first thing we noticed was how clean the room was. It smelled so nice in the room. We were in the building in the back and it was very quiet, away from the main street. The grab and go breakfast was perfect. You could eat it then or save for a snack later in the day. The staff here was wonderful. A very nice place and we would recommend it to anyone.
Review 46:Personal attention...staff very willing to respond to all of our questions. Saved us money by booking tour through the hotel instead of calling direct.
Review 47:The staff was very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. It was a great location. It was nice having an adequate breakfast a few doors down and getting on the road to see the sights. I could either take a shuttle or walk downtown. Great stay !!!! Marge , Rocky Hill
Review 48:If there is any negative, it would be that the bathroom sink was very small and mirror was hung higher on wall than expected. At 5'4", made getting ready slightly challenging and would be difficult for a shorter person.
Review 49:Wonderful, helpful owner/operator staff. Perfect location, walkable to downtown (approx 1/2 mile) but outside the noisy zone, comfortable, spacious room, strong wifi, excellent breakfast options (boxes, bags, trays provided to take food to room or on the road), chairs on lawn and on wide porch outside room for sipping coffee and wine, right on Island Explorer bus line for easy access to Bar Harbor sights and Acadia Park. Refrigerator in room made it even more convenient! Great value. Although we booked the room in June for a September stay, when we checked in the hotel reduced the price Booking.com had quoted to reflect the lower off-season rate that was the current rate. Perfect!
Review 50:The room is very clean, possibly the best condition among motels; Decent breakfast, good value for money; Location is convenient if travelling to Arcadia National Park
Review 51:A bit pricey for us mid-westerners but seemed to be comparable for thearea. We were just happy to find a place as many were booked up. Glad webooked early.
Review 52:The motel was very homey, neat and clean. Bed was quite comfortable andfurniture very nice for a motel room. Good breakfast. Great location inconjuction with Bar Harbor and Acadia Natl. Park.
Review 53:The room was carpeted, which probably explains why it smelled a little musky when we came in. Opening the windows and door helped, though. WiFi kept losing connection on several devices.
Review 54:Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, they had a whole package of flyers and booklets ready for us with restaurant menus and things to do. The location is great, right between the main entrance to Acadia NP and downtown Bar Harbor. The bed was really good as well.
Review 55:Retro decor: mint green walls, faux wood paneling, patterned formica counters, BUT meticulously maintained!
Review 56:Possibly the cleanest place I've ever stayed. Super pleasant, professional staff. Large dressing area. Close to Acadia, within walking distance to Bar Harbor, on park bus route. Good breakfast.
Review 57:?????."What is there not to like"
Review 58:Best Value for Your money.Very Friendly,Clean, respond's to all Your need's & question's,Quiet,Walking Distance to Town.
Review 59:June in the office was so kind, efficient and thorough. When I told her we would be checking out early the next morning, she suggested we take breakfast items to our room to put in our refrigerator. Nice parking right out the door. All our needs were nicely met.
Review 60:Very clean and great location. We were able to pick up Free shuttle right at front door, which is plus considering the lack of parking in Bar Harbor.
Review 61:Not a major problem, but the bathrooms are small. They were fine for us but some may find it too small.
Review 62:We loved the 50's feel. Very clean and friendly staff. Beds comfortable. Loved the screen door.
Review 63:Very little room to place toiletries in the bathroom.
Review 64:Friendly and helpful staff. Large, spacious rooms. Larger 'mini' fridge. Very cold a/c! Free wi-fi. Grab and go breakfast. Coffee and tea available all day. FREE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE - runs every 1/2 hour from 7-3 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 3-10 p.m. Less than a mile from Main St. in Bar Harbor! Flat screen t.v. Very quaint. Not a modern facility, but absolutely worth it! Not just clean, it's IMMACULATE! Hair dryer, ironing board and iron included.
Review 65:Wi-Fi was slow at times.
Review 66:Friendly, very helpful staff. Great "Grab and Go" breakfast selection. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Convenient to downtown Bar Harbor, free shuttle, and entrance to Acadia NP.
Review 67:Steep hill for entry. Couldn't see the water. Noise of traffic but not at night.
Review 68:Very clean. Designated parking spot right in front of our door. Ease of breakfast. Friendly staff. Front porch.
Review 69:difficult / extra cost to park
