Reviews for Peabody Memphis

Review 1:Seating was limited in the rooms, maybe an addition of a couch would be helpful in each room. The vending machines on our floor (10) were out of order and one of the vending spaces was too hot. The bill reader did not work and the machines were sold out of soda. Therefore, we had to go to a different floor - 11.

Review 2:The staff was very courteous. The reading lights built into the headboards were useful. Although this could be a complaint, a mystery charge (wrong room was billed) was removed from my bill.

Review 3:We spent the NYE there and it felt a little hectic, checking in and checking out took some time. The rooms may need a little refreshing in terms of decoration

Review 4:Great location, nice landmark hotel, on the expensive side

Review 5:Room service took forever. Was cold when it finally arrived. We had to leave so we didn't have time to have them remake it.

Review 6:almost everything. Love this hotel. One of our favorite places in Memphis.

Review 7:Fantastic experience. Very friendly staff. In particular our waitress, Rosie, couldn't do enough to help us when we arrived shattered on the early morning train from Chicago. Check in wasn't until 4pm but staff kindly allowed us a much earlier availability at no extra cost. Beautiful, spacious room. Hope to return one day.

Review 8:At the lobby bar, we were ignored/not spoken to for 10+ minutes. Yes, they were busy serving those seated in the lobby, but we were seen by the bartenders and not one word or smile. So we went elsewhere.

Review 9:Comfortable bed, easy check-on, very nice porter on cart from the garage to hotel.

Review 10:Room next to lifts was noisy from. 5am. Charge of $4.99 a bottle of water in the room. Lobby waitresses not friendly just wanted their tip. Room on 10th floor but no view

Review 11:Central location and in an historic building

Review 12:The ducks were amazing to see. We took a tour with the duckmaster Doug which I highly recommend as he helps you understand the hotel's history as well as Memphis in general. The king room is a large suite although does have a surprisingly small bathroom. Very cute duck soaps and linens :-) The location is great, close to many restaurants and Beale Street.

Review 13:It's trading on its past reputation without refreshing or reassessing whether its getting everything right for patrons. Judging by our pokey little cubbyhole of a room, with ill-fitting, spiderwebbed windows. We were also subjected to construction work outside these windows from 07.20 so no sleep past that time (it was on Peabody property but reception didn't care, apologise or help). What else? Oh the TV placed wrongly; the toilet inexplicably in the centre of the tiny bathroom so you trip over it EACH time you're in there; hidden extra charges ("essential" hotel service rate to cover wifi use, toll-free and local call charges I was told. My foot!) on top of $300?! Do yourself a huge favour and book the Madison instead. This place belongs in the past with other outdated, overpriced relics :-(

Review 14:The toiletries are lovely and plentiful. Comfortable bed

Review 15:Parking lot is quite a walk from the reception area and parking is expensive.

Review 16:Beautiful, luxurious old hotel. Comfy, sumptuous room with beautiful, comfortable beds. Great service and staff. Very close to Beale St.

Review 17:residents not treated as priority during parade. Standard room is not value for money

Review 18:Iconic Hotel - lovely inside main ground floor. Parade great viewing

Review 19:The hotel had not received my reservation from Booking.com. The staff accepted my email as proof and gave us the rate promised. They were great. Booking.com was not.

Review 20:Being at the Peabody.

Review 21:Don't get a room near the lifts- very noisy and the insulation is poor so you had better hope you aren't next to a noisy guest as you will hear everything!!!

Review 22:The ducks are amazing- so much fun.

Review 23:The water in the pool dyed us blue!

Review 24:Beautiful rooms and friendly helpful staff. The lobby was amazing and we watched the March of the ducks three times. Not to be missed. A really luxurious buzzing place.

Review 25:Service was bad. Ordered room service @ 8am, told 30 minutes which is perfectly acceptable. At 8:45, called back and was told it was on the way up. At 9am, had to call and cancel because I had to meet people downstairs. Friends' room wasn't made up during the day, and they did not have the room available that they reserved 5 months earlier. Extremely slow service in the bar -- sat a dirty table for 20 minutes before anyone came over.

Review 26:Beautiful, historic hotel in a great location.

Review 27:It's very big & lacks any personal touch. The rooms do not contain a fridge or coffee/ tea making facilities. The self parking is quite a walk to the hotel. The check in & out times coincide with the duck marches which is stupid.

Review 28:Great location. It's beautifully decorated & well maintained. The ducks are quite special & give it a personality.

Review 29:Very expensive for no apparent reason. Elevator to parking garage was out of service during our entire stay. Lobby very dark.

Review 30:Location, but there are many hotels in the same area. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 31:The staff downstairs didn't seem to know much about the area. Sherree upstairs not he 12th floor, however, was excellent and told us about Gus's fried chicken, and the Arcade restaurant. Also please teach your staff how to make tea the English way, boiling water on to the tea bag - having a decent cup of tea in the morning would have taken our stay from excellent to very excellent!!

Review 32:Just about everything, great hotel, great staff, great location. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 33:Bathroom floor looked like it needed a good scrubbing. Paint was chipped in the room as well as several holes in the wall. There was also a peculiar smell in the room. We gave up on having our luggage delivered to our room. It was extremely slow so we ended up going back downstairs and getting it ourselves. No coffee maker in room.

Review 34:Downstairs was beautiful. Location was great.

Review 35:The receptionist/concierge we had whilst checking out was awful. The hotel messed up our final bill by adding a $61 bar tab which we never spent (didn't even go to the bar) and although they eventually took it off, there was no apology, no friendly explanation as to what went wrong, etc. the lady just grabbed a bunch of receipts and shuffles through them for 10 minutes without a word to me- as if this was a standard part of the checking out process!

Review 36:Beautiful lobby, excellent central location, nice rooms, friendly bell boys

Review 37:The location was great for Beale Street and the general downtown area. The staff were helpful and the housekeeping were wonderful, my room was extremely clean for the whole time I was there (4 nights). They did provide free Wifi, and I had no problems with connecting. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Review 38:Arrival and check in service was poor (11pm), no bath mats after 1st day, service standards do not match hotel

Review 39:Lovely hotel, convenient location, good facilities (bar, deli, restaurant)

Review 40:At check in allocated wrong rooms as we were told we had booked through 3rd party,ie booking.com. Would have to have rooms left available! Not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel!

Review 41:Good location.

Review 42:Rooms with a story Owner interaction - good guidance to Memphis things to do Very stylish rooms Private parking Excellent wifi Excellent airco Super tv set Central location

Review 43:We originally booked our hotel with booking.com, we were very dissapointed to discover an extra $550 worth of fees not included or mentioned in the booking price. Yikes.

Review 44:Our family loved the comfort, style, and design of the Peabody.

Review 45:Had to leave the deli without even asking for ice cream. 2 employees never knew I was there!

Review 46:Breakfast was great - best grits every! However, I did not get 2nd cup of coffee timely.

Review 47:The bathroom is nicely appointed but far too small - very little bench space or shelving for toiletries.

Review 48:Beautifully furnished with a lovely lobby and the wonderful Peabody Duck Parade. The hotel has some great stores for shopping and a good choice of places to eat, although sadly Chez Phillipe was closed while we were there. Very convenient to Beale St, Sun Studios etc.

Review 49:The Peabody's famous ducks were too important. An older couple like us got overlooked. Signed up for a morning tour and waited where I was told to wait; tour bus left without me. I felt somewhat invisible. No hair dryer or coffee maker in room. Expensive.

Review 50:Interesting, beautiful lobby.

Review 51:Staff very courteous, friendly, and helpful. Hotel beautifully decorated and rooftop had various functions and great view of the river. Duck parade very unique.

Review 52:Extremely small rooms, no bathroom vanity, should include more amenitiesfor high cost of rooms (bottled water in room... At $4, really?). Norefrigerator/microwave, "Complimentary" use of robescreeps me out. Who wants to wear a used robe?? I don't care if ithas been washed!!!

Review 53:Close to Beale Street. Beautifully decorated and historicallysignificant building. Courteous staff.

Review 54:Room was small and dark, noisy A/C unit. Breakfast was minimal and service was slow.

Review 55:Nice old building, close to Beale Street and close to downtown Memphis (although downtown Memphis is very small).

Review 56:we went to check in and the hotel was booked. management was nice and put us up in another hotel and they didn't charge me for that night. that was nice of them but it was disappointing as i had reservations for a long time.

Review 57:we were close to so many attractions and restaurants.

Review 58:The duck experience was disappointing - as a hotel guest we expected to be able to see what was going on, but there was no facility for this. The general public had packed the area and we saw nothing despite trying several times. I do understand that it is a tourist attraction rather than a facility of the hotel though. The bar and restaurants were very expensive so we did not eat here during our stay - Beale Street is more fun anyway!

Review 59:We did enjoy our stay at the Peabody in the middle of a long trip, it has just that little touch of old world charm. As others have mentioned, the bathrooms are incredibly small but the bed was very comfortable and service warm and obliging. There were plenty of towels and pillows also.

Review 60:When being checked in, the young female staff member paid hardly any attention to us because she was busy chatting up a young man next to us (who was already being dealt with by another member of staff). She came across as unprofessional and we didn't get much detail on the hotel and facilities as a result, plus it didn't give a good first impression.

Review 61:The Peabody had lots of charm and character. The lobby is stunning and the march of the hotel's ducks to and (later)from the lobby fountain every day is a grand, fun affair. We went up to the roof where there is a great view and you can see the ducks' mansion. Also, there's free coffee before 9am & a lovely pool and gym where free bottles of water are provided.

Review 62:The room was too small and the bathroom had no place to store cosmetics and lotions securely.

Review 63:The Peabody is a beautiful hotel with charming public spaces. The service was warm and friendly.

Review 64:If you do not valet park, expect a good walk, and the parking garage may get full on weekends! If you are checking in ANY time that the ducks are making their appearance, expect a long elevator wait time. Also, I didn't stay in a suite, just a basic room and there was not enough counter space in the bathroom, almost none.

Review 65:I love the location! The Peabody is right downtown and within walking distance to most of the "touristy" spots, like Beale St. The room was fine, clean, comfy bed. The staff was friendly.

Review 66:The 4:30 am fire drill? Or maybe it was a false alarm. No one ever admitted to knowing.

Review 67:The hotel is beautiful, the staff is awesome. Not a cheap place to stay but well worth the price.

Review 68:Self- parking is a pain, the rooms can be tiny, bathroom is micro with no shelf area. Noise is an issue. We had a room where I felt like the guest next to us were in my room.

Review 69:Lobby, facilities and staff are really good.

Review 70:We had an unlucky room placement - room 535, which was next to the elevator. Elevator noise was disturbing through the night and early morning.

Review 71:Hotel is beautiful, staff is wonderful, location is perfect, holiday decorations were splendid. Our room was comfortable, updated and very clean.

Review 72:Bathrooms were tiny and beds were small.

Review 73:Beautiful grand hotel. Loved the lobby, drinks were overpriced but the Christmas decor was beautiful! The Sunday brunch was amazing and well worth the money!

Review 74:Nothing.

Review 75:It is a magnificent hotel that is rich in history. The staff are excellent and it is very centrally located. I would also highly recommend the Hotel Tour. The daily Duck Marches are a real treat.

Review 76:Besides just the mass crowd of people that can't be helped we really don't have any complaints.

Review 77:Me and my fiancé stayed here for her birthday. We enjoyed everything about the Peabody. Our room was very tasteful and well furnished. Hotel service was top notch, and I would recommend anyone to eat at the capriccio. All and all a great experience.

Review 78:You have to pay extra for a fridge to be brought to your room. As much as you pay I would have thought they would already have one in the rooms. I was also surprised that the water they provide in the room cost extra If you drink it too!

Review 79:I loved that it was so close to Beale! We were there for a concert so it was a little pricey but overall awesome!

Review 80:Fabulous hotel in the heart of the city, stunningly beautiful building that is very well maintained. All staffers were incredibly helpful and friendly and well worth the high price.

Review 81:We stayed two nights but couldn't see the duck parade because people from other hotels crowded the lobby area The best locations on the mezzanine and the entire rooftop area were booked for a private party which meant we couldn't enjoy these areas but we were not told beforehand No fridge or coffee maker in the room, no complimentary drinks. If you want to enjoy the best parts of the Peabody (the lobby, duck parade and rooftop) you can book a cheaper hotel nearby and still go (like most other people did) There is absolutely no benefits of staying at the Peabody other than to say you've stayed there. Worst hotel out of seven we stopped at during our visit to the USA (and the most expesnsive)

Review 82:Beautiful lobby area

Review 83:This is the 2nd visit to the Peabody, we visited 2 years ago. The lobby bar staff have not improved at all, they are often abrupt and unfriendly. There seems to be a superior attitude with some staff. Although a simple request for a coffee at the end of the day seemed to get them in a bit of a tizzy. Its a top quality expensive hotel, most reasonable requests should not be a problem. We complained after the last visit about the same staff, nothing's changed so will not be returning. Peabody Place is now empty. Felt like the downturn in the economy had really affected Memphis.

Review 84:Rooms are great Location great Coffee shop, friendly staff good choice of products in there. Duck procession. Valet parking staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 85:Way overpriced, and you don't even get a fridge in your room or a free bagel in the morning. The room and bathroom were nice enough but small.

Review 86:The best of the Peabody can be experienced without getting a room. The ducks are a fun treat, and there are some good restaurants and shops on the premises.

Review 87:Parking is quite expensive at $18 per night for self parking The hotel service fee at $11.95 per night for the internet service I felt was unwarranted

Review 88:The hotel décor was outstanding. Beautiful surroundings yet close to all of the Memphis tourist attractions.

Review 89:My room was very poor, the towels were in the cupboard in the bedroom and when I finally found them they were frayed and a stain on one. the bed was very uncomfortable and hurt my back. it wasn't worth the money I had spent.

Review 90:The lobby area was very grand.

Review 91:Some of the store staff was rude and the front desk staff were unfriendly. Where was the southern hospitality??

Review 92:The location was close to many attractions. The interior architect is beautiful.

Review 93:Amazing town and amazing Hotel

Review 94:the additional cost for the VIP as I didn't get the full service as indicated by person at check in.

Review 95:The ducks and comfort of the bed.

Review 96:Needed another Bar tender, was short one that night and they did great but were overwhelmed.

Review 97:Lost my wallet and it was found and turned in.

Review 98:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 99:Staff was amazing and very accommodating.

Review 100:Seeing the ducks walk and swim in the fountain is worth the extra money. Location by Bealle Street is excellent.

Review 101:Zip!

Review 102:Very comfortable, great location, wonderful restaurant, terrific bars and funny ducks!

Review 103:NA

Review 104:This is a superb hotel--one of the best in the world--Ducks a spectacular plus.Hotel restaurants great.

Review 105:Room was terribly overpriced and tired...Who doesn't offer coffee in the rooms??? Terrible..

Review 106:Loved the staff and location

Review 107:Brilliant hotel, everybody was polite and friendly

Review 108:All the extra fees per night. Give me a price up front and let me make the decision up front, not let me find out in the end.

Review 109:Staff.

Review 110:The rooms are a bit old. Quite loud from floor and neighboring rooms.

Review 111:The staff was very polite

Review 112:Wonderful and unique. Duck walk is fun to watch.

Review 113:The ducks

Review 114:Our room was ready when we arrived at 7 am off the Amtrak train from Chicago! Staff were brilliant. The room was luxurious.

Review 115:Great location for the purpose of our trip

Review 116:Surprise upgrade of our room. Lovely comfortable hotel, wish we could have stayed longer

Review 117:too expensive for the size and service. Paid $18.00 for self parking which I think is outrageous.

Review 118:Rustic, clean

Review 119:Very slow room service

Review 120:Was not pleased with booking.com. Arrived and had only two rooms. Confirmation was for 3.

Review 121:Everything. Was great!!

Review 122:The History of the Peabody and the way they transformed it to our times.

Review 123:Being locked out of my room for 1-1/2 hrs, then the maintenance person telling me to be wait.

Review 124:Location

Review 125:Room small and bathroom very small & breakfast buffet mediocre

Review 126:Fantastic Location, terrific lobby , duck experience & lanskys in lobby too

Review 127:Bathrooms are very small. Bar prices expensive.

Review 128:The service from the front desk was very poor.

Review 129:The location

Review 130:A bit overpriced...

Review 131:It was vety clean and refined! Staff was top notch.

Review 132:Only a minor issue, but i would expect complimentary coffee for all guests all day.

Review 133:The atmosphere was perfect
