Reviews for Sierra Lodge

Review 1:The heater made a rattling noise every time it turned off and interupted my sleep. In the end we just turned it down to 60 and that way it never had to turn on and was quiet after that.

Review 2:On main drag of Mammoth. If you want to take the free shuttle to the ski resort ,it is right in front of the Hotel. There is plenty of underground parking. Good coffee and fruit in the AM. Angel's restaurant is right across the road and has some tasty food for reasonable prices.

Review 3:Dirty, stained comforters, not enough towel bars, no in room coffee (although they had coffee in the common breakfast area)

Review 4:Underground parking, spa open during winter, some food for breakfast ( it wasn't much, but better than nothing ), little kitchenette

Review 5:Literally the only bad thing (which is just more of an inconvenience) is that the bathroom floor is INSANELY cold all the time but like I said, just put some towels down and you're good to go!

Review 6:Everything. Service was helpful and very friendly. They had very nice amenities like a tv, jacuzzi, breakfast, wifi, all of which worked excellently and we enjoyed. Parking was easy and the lockers to stow away snow equipment were very helpful. No complaints at all about this place, absolutely will come here again and recommend to any friends looking to stay in Mammoth.

Review 7:We noticed that there's no air conditioning,I hope that is not hot during the summer months. The other minus would be having to use a key to open the door (no electronic card).

Review 8:We liked the fact that the room was (is) very spacious. We enjoyed the Continental breakfast. The location is central, that's a plus. We will definitely come back again.

Review 9:No elevator, not much of a minimal breakfast.

Review 10:Clean and spacious rooms at a decent (for crazy expensive Mammoth) price. refrigerator and microwave and small balcony included. Pleasant staff, good location with free covered parking, and no resort fees make this a decent choice for lodging in Mammoth.

Review 11:Hard to say. The attention of the man in the frontdesk is extraordinay, emapthic, warm, supportive. Room size is very good, and the place is wonderfull.

Review 12:The sliding glass door and screen was hard to open and the screen would not stay on track

Review 13:Clean rooms with nice beds, kitchenette with breakfast included and a good size flat screen tv ! Photo is from our second floor balcony room.

Review 14:- Nice location, close to the Tioga pass out of the Yosemite park and right by the beautiful mammoth lakes - Very nice staff - large, clean and comfortable rooms. Cozy atmosphere in the common room for the breakfast

Review 15:Place is beginning to look dated and could do with redecorating.

Review 16:Ideal location for visiting Yosemite National Park and skiing in the winter. BBQ was new in 2015 and hot tub.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Room as well as the entire lodge space was well maintained and very clean, nice in-room facilities like clean cutlery, microwave, fridge, welcoming staff at the front desk, awesome breakfast, on-site free parking, value for money

Review 19:I really can't say. I had a hard time sleeping, but I honestly think it had more to do with the altitude than anything with the facility.

Review 20:Location was fine.

Review 21:The motel is really really old, the carpet stinks. I will never come back there. 90$ for one night is ridiculously expensive. Pretty disgusting.

Review 22:The guy at the front desk is really nice, helpful and professional

Review 23:Even though we had a room on the 1st floor, still had to go up about 16 steps to reach it. Bathroom could use a little remodeling, would like to have the sink area separate from the toilet & bath.

Review 24:Very friendly staff, found us an extra bed & chair for the 3 of us. Good location for visiting great attractions along the Eastern Sierra & Hwy 395 corridor. Nice room where they serve their continental breakfast.

Review 25:Had a room (111) backing on to jacuzzi, but nothing major.

Review 26:Comfy and pleasant place to stay. Decent breakfast. Great liquor store opposite (A-Frame Liquor).

Review 27:Breakfast area did not have sufficient tables for guests to enjoy having their breakfast. A lot of noise from banging doors for some reason.

Review 28:Comfortable. Friendly clerk. Clean rooms and nice place.

Review 29:Sounds from other rooms could be heard: snoaring etc.

Review 30:Nice surpise! We had a one night stop and could have stayed longer. Rooms were clean and comfortable, not a luxury place but worth of the money - especially with breakfast included.

Review 31:No elevator.

Review 32:Inside parking. Motorcycle friendly. Continental breakfast, Comfy bed, quite location, central location. Local shuttle to move one around town.

Review 33:Only one washing machine/dryer for the entire place. They're both sort of outside the building. No elevator. Basic breakfast.

Review 34:Nice room including balcony. Nice common room.

Review 35:Complimentary breakfast was subpar, at night, you can hear everyone walking around and talking wifi was way too slow..

Review 36:Availability, our room was pretty nice in size. Parking was good. Nice people, room was pretty clean.

Review 37:No elevators Basic breakfast Bit too expensive

Review 38:Clean Nice stuff Comfortable rooms Microwave and fridge in the room Close to visitor center and mammoth lakes

Review 39:Nothing I recall

Review 40:Very spacious comfortable rooms. Very helpful staff on reception. Own underground car park. Breakfast very good and nice room on the first floor, many hotels cram you in a small room but this was lovely. Good location in the centre of Mammoth within walking distance of some restaurants.

Review 41:Good cheap hotel, nothing special, but it was a good, clean room. Breakfast was very basic. Hotel was good for a stop in Mammoth Lakes, but we wouldn't recommend it for more nights.

Review 42:Breakfast arrangement was poor Room was on the small size (still OK though) Some difficulties to find acceptable restaurants in town (and they close early in the evening)

Review 43:Location close to the lakes. Easy parking

Review 44:Room was very dark and felt pretty stale with the old decor. Bed was pretty firm and the room didn't feel super clean.

Review 45:Decent location and good price for a last minute stay. Mammoth lakes is a great stop over on the way to Yosemite. The brewing rooms are great! Front desk were friendly.

Review 46:very limited breakfast - we actually didn't eat because we have not found anything. we have visited much better hotels where we got significantly more value for our money.

Review 47:friendly staff, huge parking lot

Review 48:So far everything is so gooooooood!

Review 49:The bus service in the whole town is FREE! The hotel front desk offers a guide book, with a number of traveling routes. Staff members are extremely friendly and helpful! Our free tour to the lakes is amazing!

Review 50:Everything needs upgrading; had to bump luggage up and down stairs; "breakfast" minimalistic--no fresh fruit, only bagels, dry cereal, and orange juice

Review 51:beds comfortable; easy central location

Review 52:Breakfast pretty poor. I liked just milk, cereal and fruits. Better than nothing..

Review 53:Nice break for one night after our Yosemite and Mono Lake visit. Mommoth is nice too for people who like nature, walking and riding. Easy parking facility.

Review 54:I personally didn't like the breakfast that much, it was very bland. Some cereal and bagels and fruit. WiFi was also sometimes a bit slow, but OK enough anyway.

Review 55:We liked our stay at Sierra Lodge. It was idyllic and had beautiful views in a good location. The hot tub was great after a long day of hiking and horse riding at the mountains. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was easy to find and had enough parking space in the garage during our stay, although I could imagine that during the highest season it'd be hard to find space for your car. Room was clean and spacious. The kitchenette with a microwave and 2 fridges was a huge plus. Would definitely recommend this to anyone planning to stay at the Mammoth Lakes area!

Review 56:Standup A/C unit was noisy but helpful for summer stays. A bit of a walk to Village...take shuttle.

Review 57:Clean and comfortable; did have standup A/C unit for summer night stay. Staff was friendly and helpful; free shuttle pickup nearby.

Review 58:Best place while travelling in the USA for 15 days! Excellent stop-by for the route Yosemite-Death Valley. Absolute friendly staff and prone to help.

Review 59:If you are looking to stay close to yosemite, this is not the place. It takes an hour to drive to the entrance of yosemite, and if you want to go to yosemite valley it is another hour and a half drive across the park to get there. you are better off staying at the coast side of the park if you want to see the valley, or if you are looking enough to get a hotel in the valley.

Review 60:Lovely hotel, nice facilities and in a nice area - Mamoth lakes - would be lovely in the winter months for skiing. Hotel was expensive for summer rates seen as it is so far from yosemite.

Review 61:The hotel was slightly pricey, especially since it did not have a pool or more elaborate facilities to offer.

Review 62:A spacious room with clean and good quality facilities and furniture.

Review 63:Nothing im happy

Review 64:Its really a nice and very clean palce to stay. Everybody seems so friendly. Specially to Mark the manger who chexk us in. He is a nice and very accomodating person. We are coming back during this year fall season and we are staying in this palce again.

Review 65:We were in 208; the shower water temp was difficult to control; could go from cold to scalding if one were not careful: recommend fixing.

Review 66:Location and value; clean and continental breakfast was nice.

Review 67:The hotel could encourage the city to put a crosswalk at the corner of their street so it's easier to cross the highway, although there is a crossing 2 blocks south.

Review 68:This has a great location. The rooms are nice and the breakfast was good.

Review 69:WI-FI had some problems from time to time

Review 70:We stayed there in summertime which is quite unusual for this type of hotel which suits best if you want to ski or snowboard in wintertime. Still, the hotel is nice for a 3* one, having big rooms, with kitchenette included. The bathroom was well equipped with clean towels, shower gel, shampoo and body lotion. The heating went well too (it was a but chilly although it was July) and the room had also an AC system in place. Big LG TV screen. The guy from the reception was very friendly and willing to help with info and suggestions. We didn't have any breakfast. In front of the hotel there is a nice pub (John's) where you can eat pizza or drink a cold beer. The hotel has its own parking which is very good

Review 71:Not much choice for breakfasthowever it was described as a continental breakfast, and was good food and coffee.

Review 72:Friendly host. Large comfortable room. Restaurant and bar right opposite. Free shuttle to village & lakes.

Review 73:It wasn't a bad experience at all but I think the price was more than it should have been. The cleaning ladies were little pushy and bent upon changing the linen and towels at like 8-9 am. We were tired as hell and wanted not to be disturbed. We weren't even checking out that day so the hurry/push wasnt justified. Breakfast was next to nothing. Breads, coffee, juice and corn flakes.

Review 74:Clean comfortable room, biggggg TV, the room had a small eating table and two chairs. Cutlery and microwave provided. Small refrigerator too. Covered parking.

Review 75:This hotel did not have any Ac during summer. We had traveled from death valley and was disastrous to find that out. Given there was no AC and no elevator the price seems too high. Because it is the Bear country we had to take every luggage up through the stairs to our room and bring it down again the next day. I did not see the fa kept in the room so got another fan for our room . Two fans were not enough to get sleep during hot humid summer nights.

Review 76:The receptionist was nice and willing to help us.

Review 77:Very poor breakfast with limited choices, and there was no room to sit down in the dining room. Room facility was very basic, and poor internet connection

Review 78:Staff was very helpful and welcoming

Review 79:There is not much space for breakfast. People have to keep waiting for someone who left after they are done. Or we can take the food up to the room. The design is not quite customer- based. There are not too many choices of food either.

Review 80:The room is spacious.

Review 81:noise from other people at the hotel, especially the smashing of doors. We were at room 111 and it means that you can hear anyone going to the breakfast area

Review 82:friendly staff and good hotel

Review 83:The Wi-Fi speed is just too slow. Maybe too many people are using it. And the breakfast could be improved.

Review 84:It's very clean, and all the details in the room are carefully designed. Parking is complementary.

Review 85:I love Mammoth and understand that the weather is usually cooler, unfortunately the weekend I visited it was the 4th of July and very humid and hot. This hotel has no a/c at all. I was also very disappointed with the fact that there was no coffee maker, even though it's a lodge style room, with a fridge and small kitchenette

Review 86:It was a good location and the staff was friendly

Review 87:Parking at the back side was not that great. Our rental car got stuck unpleasantly resulting a broken bumper. Anyways Mammoth Airport Enterprise location was only 8 miles away to get the car replaced with a nice SUV.

Review 88:This is one of the best location to stay to enjoy the local feeling as well as the near by beauties. Staff were excellent. Front desk and particularly the manager is very cooperative. We were allowed to park our SUV even after the check out as we went out to watch the July 4th Parade. Breakfast was decent. Also got a good room with a nice view.

Review 89:Overall it was a great place to stay for the amount of money we paid, especially for a 4th of July weekend, but I wish they would have had an air conditioner.

Review 90:I absolutely loved how comfortable the bed was. King beds rock!

Review 91:Slightly dated décor, yet very comfortable; super clean; very helpful, friendly staff. We were hesitant to book a place we knew nothing about. We read the reviews of others and are glad we booked. Sierra Lodge surpassed our expectations!

Review 92:Doors slam... But staff and signs warn to be mindful of others when closing doors esp after 10pm. But for those who sleep in door slamming in the morning was a bit loud. But it's an older lodge so nothing they really can do to fix it.

Review 93:Roomy for King Size room. Balcony was nice. Had basic kitchen utensils that we didn't expect. Had washer & dryer (but one of each only) Location on Main st.

Review 94:The first room on the second floor we got had no screen on it and since there is no AC we requested a different room so we could open balcony door. There are no coffee makers in the room.

Review 95:The lodge was close to village and lakes as well as restaurants

Review 96:The matress in room #209 had a huge dip in both sides. We let the office know when we checked out & they said it was only 2 years old. They also suggested that we might have corrected the problem by sleeping side ways on the King size bed. Also, the breakfast ran out of danishes if you didn't get there early enough and no fresh fruit. Room had not been made up at 1:30 when we came back to the room.

Review 97:The location was great. The room was nice with a balcony and plenty of room. Angel's restraruant, across the street, had very good BBQ.

Review 98:beyond outdated - felt totally dirty - portable fan instead of air conditioner - bedspread and blanket were so old that if they were cleaned you couldn't tell - believed sheets would be clean choose not to use blanket

Review 99:staff

Review 100:1hr to Yosemite east gate walking distance to bars and restaurants close to grocery store clean hot tub excellent breakfast and friendly staff covered parking

Review 101:The shower head was too low, had to kneel to wash our hair (5'9)

Review 102:Breakfast was great, room was really spacious and the bed was very soft and comfy. Very helpful staff. Laundry facilities available which was great for us!

Review 103:There is no elevator and dining area is too small. Sometime we couldn't find a table to have breakfast.

Review 104:Location and stuff were awesome ! It close to everywhere, very clean.

Review 105:We were allowed to check in early and were given a first floor room given our "mature" status. Room was clean, came with fridge and microwave plus complimentary breakfast.

Review 106:Little round toilet with extremely loud fan thy turned with light. Could not turn it off without turning off light. No elevator but staff carried bags for us.

Review 107:Clean, convenient, helpful staff.

Review 108:There was a banging sound coming from the ceiling, sounded like a heater clicking. Wasn't enough to keep me awake, but might be for others.

Review 109:Right off of the main road in Mammoth. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Continental breakfast was better than I expected. Staff was nice.

Review 110:Convenient location, covered parking (it snowed), great bed, large room w/ kitchenette. Attentive and friendly staff. Good Continental breakfast. Very competitively priced (cheaper than Motel 6). Will definitely stay again in the future

Review 111:Breakfast was rather lacking in items offered and the coffee was terribly strong. I went to get a piece of fruit well before the end of the breakfast time and it was all out.

Review 112:Close to everything in the village. We were in between seasons. Not crowded so very nice.

Review 113:The seating capacity of the breakfast room was small. The quality of the bed's mattress could be improved.

Review 114:Friendly and helpful staff, large rooms, breakfast included, convenient location, good value for money.

Review 115:I booked a stay with Sierra Lodge to enter Yosemite Park but the 120 pass was closed during my stay and it would take 8 hours to get to the park from the hotel. The manager completely understood and kindly let me cancel with no fee. I am touched by the kindness of the people here and will book with them again in the future.

Review 116:Good size room with a great layout. The furniture is plain generic, but the dressing area, extra sink with refrigerator were very convenient. Average Wi-Fi speed, and a small continental breakfast of bread, cereal and fruit bowl. They provide a locker in the covered parking garage which is great so you don't have to lug your ski equipment very far.

Review 117:Bathtub did not drain when taking a shower, and no privacy screen/ shade on window so you can let light in without the people in the building right next door looking at you! The walls are thin, I heard everything in the two rooms on either side of me. Stairs... 2 flights of stairs, no elevator to get to room.

Review 118:The bed was very comfortable, room was clean, the wi-fi was good. Ample storage for things in the room. A very small kitchenette in room with a sink, kitchen sink, and larger fridge than most rooms. Flatscreen tv, hairdrier, they had a nice cozy spa bbq area outside. And a large sitting room by their breakfast area. Covered parking for when it starts to act like winter.

Review 119:Breakfast was just ok and although the rooms had some good amenities other things were seriously outdated and there wasn't exactly a 'kitchen.'

Review 120:Checking in and out was easy. Staff were friendly. In a great location and fairly good value for money.

Review 121:nothing. loved all of it.

Review 122:Everything. Best value for price and quality and ease. I've stayed at all of the competing spots for the same price and this hotel takes the gold in this price category. Great job folks!

Review 123:There is one maid that just squeals like a teenage girl up and down the hallways every morning. There are signs remaining guest to be quiet in the hallways, but this does not apply to this one spanish maid. Very annoying.

Review 124:The location and price

Review 125:Location is close to Canyon lodge and 10mins to the Main lodge area. They provide lockers in the basement parking to store your skis/board. Staff is friendly.

Review 126:Like the title of my review ... If you miss the 80s - well, this is your place. Staff was excellent but the place is literally out of a time warp... Old. It was clean just old and smelled of carpet freshener stuff. I know Mammoth is having a hard few years but this place is probable a decade past the need for renovation... Oh well... Friendly, safe and priced for what it is... Like I was back working as a lifty in the 80's

Review 127:Spotty Wi-Fi. Small hottub. Free continental breakfast was a little sparse.

Review 128:There is a free ski shuttle stop directly in front of the motel. Friendly staff, clean, fridge and microwave in the room.

Review 129:A stovetop in the room would have finished this off perfectly Wifi was a bit temperamental

Review 130:Bus to slopes right outside Hot tub and BBQ area were great Staff were so friendly and helpful

Review 131:Room was quiet and comfortable. Kitchenette was a nice feature and the continental breakfast was a good way to start the day before hitting the slopes.

Review 132:The hotel is old and every door is the wrong size so they all slam every time they close. Room smelled like mold as soon as it got warm out. Breakfast was just toast and cereal. Made service over at 10:00 so don't sleep in or your bed never gets maid. They don't change sheets either. The view is of a travel lodge and a dumpster.

Review 133:Nothing except indoor parking

Review 134:This visit the room was about 85 degrees and could not cool off. I had to open the patio door to cool the room off every other hour. There was also a whole bunch of noise every morning for no reason. One night they had a fire going and other nights no fire.

Review 135:This is a great lodge to stay at. The room comes with a microwave, fridge and changing area.

Review 136:Overall facility would benefit from a refresh. WiFi speed, towels and bathroom items should be upgraded. At over $300/night during peak the units are not a good value however; could be if the quality of the facilities and products were aligned with this level of pricing. The facility has great potential....

Review 137:location, bus stop 14, room size, small kitchenette in room, good room storage, flat panel TV, continental B Fast, hot tub, covered parking, very friend overnight staff, close to the village and other shopping centers on main street
