Reviews for Madison Hotel

Review 1:Service for checking in /out was terrible Restaurant was terrible Bar was terrible No towels in room upon arrival No valet available when we arrived No room service menu in room They didn't even ask how our stay was Room temp was set at 65' in December and it took until the next morning to warm up

Review 2:It is a nice hotel. The room was nice,

Review 3:The view was the side of a building. When I made the reservations, it said "room with a view". There was cold air around Windows and the coffee maker did not work.

Review 4:Staff was nice

Review 5:Wishing I'd spent both nights in Memphis here instead of the disappointment that is The Peabody

Review 6:Cool looking hotel, great musical touches and so many photo opportunities. Hit the roof before 4pm to take advantage of the rooftop views before it publicly opens. Comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom. Wanna go back!!

Review 7:Not very attentive to the details in the room one would expect for $200+/night (didn't replenish water bottles, ran out of TP, Keurig/coffee cups looked dirty, didn't replenish K-cups). When I turned on the cold water tap in bathroom sink, I always got hot water first. Minor, yet annoying issues.

Review 8:The Madison was very clean, nice linens, great central location downtown, good food in the restaurant and included vouchers to use at the restaurant.

Review 9:Enjoyed Memphis with a group of friends. The room space was very accomodating for four of us. We will recommend Madison Hotel to everyone who travels to Memphis.

Review 10:Everyone was great but housekeeping kept forgetting things like towels and toilet paper so we kept calling. THey were responsive once we called.

Review 11:Great hotel, great location, roof deck is a real plus, helpful staff.

Review 12:Altercation with male front desk representative!

Review 13:James and Joshua in housekeeping went above and beyond to assist me when I needed help. I was also impressed that James worked on his birthday because the hotel had such high traffic of customers! The view from the twilight is gorgeous in the evening and even the more solitude at night!

Review 14:I repeatedly asked if location had a pool and was informed it did. When we arrived - they said pool had been done for a month. The representative even called the location (or said they were) about the pool.

Review 15:My husband and I were stopping through Memphis on our honey moon and the Madison made our visit very special. The staff was tremendously kind and welcoming and the location is phenomenal. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 16:Terrace view of Mississippi River is lovely. Best option in Memphis. Jrsuites are nice. Well appointed- much nicer than photos depict!! Bed washeavenly. Staff exude southern hospitality!!

Review 17:The downstairs bar faces the sidewalk. Despite being inside, the smell of a broken sewer line did make it's way in. This wasn't the hotels fault and I'd assume isn't an ongoing problem.

Review 18:The hotel was gorgeous and the rooms were laid out perfectly. Staff was all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The view and vibe at the Twilight Sky Terrace were spectacular. Probably the best hotel experience I have ever had. We will certainly go back anytime we stay in Memphis.

Review 19:The room was really small, with limited storage and barely no room to move because the bed was so big, while the bathroom was huge for absolutely no reason. We had to ring down to get the coffee refreshed an toilet roll as it was replenished. They didn't even clean the cups/glasses or brush the bathroom floor.

Review 20:Bed was comfortable

Review 21:Although location and rooftop view are good, and front line staff friendly, the condition of the room was poor, and frankly dirty. When challenged about the dirt and broken fittings, a member of the housekeeping staff almost broke down. There may be a problem in the way the hotel in managed.

Review 22:Location, view from roof, friendly staff. However, beyond this it disappointed and we checked out. Ironically the Peabody was cheaper (and superior).

Review 23:Didn't really have a bad experience. Just thought the hotel wasextremely overpriced... And then, the additional $29 per night parkingfee was just too much on top of that. Felt t should have beencomplimentary for hotel guests.

Review 24:The hotel staff were extremely nice , friendly and veryaccommodating . They "checked in" on us several times tosee if we needed anything.

Review 25:It's overpriced! For $250-350 a night we had no service at all. This price doesn't include breakfast. No laundry service. No bottled water in rooms. No even pen, pencil or piece of paper, I had to go to the front desk to get it. The mattress was so uncomfortable that I had pain in the neck and back every night and day I stayed in this hotel. The shower is so small that my husband looked like a shrimp in it.

Review 26:The room was big.

Review 27:Frankly, for the high price I expected much more. The room and bathroom weren't much more than basic. The bed was very firm which just isn't my preference. We got a suite and it just seemed to have been advertised as more fabulous than it was.

Review 28:The location was great, the shower was great, it was clean. The hotel was cute and the staff was nice enough - nothing especially great or over the top helpful. Overall it was a nice place to stay, not great or special and probably not worth the money we paid to stay there.

Review 29:The bar/restaurant staff lacked much to be desired. The advertising of the suites was only the premium suites not what we were in. And valet parking was not included in my 400.00 hotel bill. Shame.

Review 30:I loved the the hotel staff was super friendly. From front desk to valet, everyone was very welcoming. The room was clean and well decorated. The view was ok.

Review 31:There needs to be a door between the 2 rooms In the suite I stayed in. Couldn't open a window. Breakfast was slow but good

Review 32:Amazing roof top bar. Bed was very fluffy and comfortable. Good location and I got to swim laps in the morning!

Review 33:Rooftop not supervised Refrigerator not accessible or cold Had to call room service for ice ! Room too pricey for king suite Sound system was not working Phone cord was too short View was not impressive from room 29.00 each night for parking seemed excessive given what the price of the room was Jacuzzi bath too small and outdated Shower too small

Review 34:Staff

Review 35:Only one TINY thing--only one small wastebasket. Everything else wasn't just good it was great.

Review 36:Staff, room, restaurant, and wonderful roof terrace with great views of Memphis and the Mississippi--and Danceable, swayable high quality piped music 24/7.

Review 37:We just spent a long weekend at the Madison – we had our 16 year old son and eight-month-old baby girl – all of us were accommodated for beautifully! We stayed in a king suite – it was perfect – there were two separate living areas – our son used the foldout couch and the Madison provided a crib for our little girl that we kept with us in our part of the room. The bed was really comfortable – the bathroom spacious and very clean. The staff could not have been nicer. We really felt like everyone was glad that we chose to stay there. We had dinner at the restaurant at the hotel two times – each time was delightful and the food was delicious. We had room service for breakfast as well and it was scrumptious! The location cannot be beat – it was a perfect spot – next time we go back we will try to schedule our trip in warmer weather so that we can enjoy the rooftop terrace bar – it looks beautiful up there. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I also think it would be perfect for any kind of traveler – whether a single person – a business traveler – a couple without kids – or a family like ours. Absolutely wonderful!

Review 38:Our room was on a lower floor (3rd) and there was noise from the street in the evening. We went to bed early though and the noise did not continue late into the night.

Review 39:The staff all treated us as if we were honored guests and that they would do anything hey could to do please us.

Review 40:Breakfast was extra but the plus in that was we went to the blue plate in court square ( highly recommended)

Review 41:The decor was great, the staff were friendly, valet parking was prompt, the food was good. The location was a short walk to where you would want to be.

Review 42:The restaurant is nice but when we went for food, the staff were not interested. They were too busy clearing away the dinner plates and setting up breakfast. The lady behind the bar was going at 100 miles/hour and we seemed to be in the way. Certainly not relaxing. We were also knocked up by housekeeping 3 times on the day we were leaving. It was really annoying ! Nice hotel but that staff need some work !

Review 43:The hotel is elegant and nicely decorated and a good location. It's a boutique style rather than luxury.

Review 44:Minibar wasn't switched on or working and fridge smelled when opened.

Review 45:The staff were so helpful! The bed was very comfortable and the shower products were lovely.

Review 46:Wi-fi was not always available. Food was just ok.

Review 47:The staff, the decor, the location, the rooftop bar, beautiful flat screen, towels and bedding. The size of the hotel. Would definitely visit again.

Review 48:Cost of valet parking

Review 49:Good location within walking distance of tourist attractions and bars and restaurants. Comfortable room and friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfasts!

Review 50:Odd music theme. Felt somewhat inauthentic. Elvis and Rufus Thomas records make sense. But Primus LPs make anyplace seem uncool. Primus is a terrible band.

Review 51:Location can't be beat. Close to Beale street, easy to roam around downtown. Walking distance to Rendezvous for ribs.

Review 52:Unhelpful receptionist - we asked for advice about the city and where to go. She didn't help at all and made us feel like she was doing us a favour by even speaking to us! Thank goodness for Marci in the restaurant who helpfully got us a map and gave us some advice. The basics weren't there. Toilet roll wasn't restocked in our room. We had to ask for some. There was no apologies from the hotel. Again we were made to feel like we were receiving a favour! The coffee creamer, sugar etc wasn't restocked. The bathroom floor wasn't cleaned. The bath mat wasn't replaced. The shower gel wasn't replaced. All small things but annoying none-the-less. The worse thing of all was that we took a glass of wine from the ground floor bar up to the roof terrace bar. (The bar was almost empty). We were confronted by an unfriendly member of staff asking us to provide receipts to prove that we bought the wine from downstairs! I thought she was joking - unfortunately not. Absolutely disgusting. We explained that we were paying guests of the hotel and could provide evidence of our residency - she said that she didn't need to see that but wanted receipts for our wine purchase! So insulting. Very small minded behaviour. We will be returning to Memphis but will absolutely not be returning to the Madison hotel. It looks good but the service was awful. It's not a cheap hotel and we'd expect more.

Review 53:Marci in the restaurant area was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. Good location.

Review 54:No central lobby to spreak of Restaurant extremely slow, and food over or undercooked (breakfast).

Review 55:Rooms are large and very well appointed, roof terrace is breathtaking

Review 56:As previous reviewers have pointed out the receptionist is businesslike to the point of rudeness - does she actually like welcoming visitors to the hotel or are we an inconvenience of some kind? Other staff much warmer and more friendly but that first impression is off putting- staff training needed perhaps?!

Review 57:The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable; the hotel itself is in an interesting part of town; would recommend Cafe Keough nearby for breakfast and Flight restaurant for dinner- both fabulous. The room terrace gives beautiful views of the river at sunset.

Review 58:The only problem was when we went to take a shower our room had no towels. It too room service 45 mins to bring us some.

Review 59:We love the location. It was easy to get to.

Review 60:Though the staff was very friendly in the restaurant, the service was extremely slow and it appeared to be a very slow evening as the dining room was not full. That was the only negative in our entire experience. The food was great but the service was less than satisfactory for such a nice place.

Review 61:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was beautiful and clean and was centrally located to our points of interest.

Review 62:The staff was so friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to give recommendations of where to go in the city. The room was quiet and cozy. Very comfortable.

Review 63:The only minor issue was that I have young children the swimming pool is a must. It had a slight musty smell to it and could use a little up keep. There were paint flakes hanging from the ceiling. Nothing major, just not something you would expect when you stay somewhere as nice as this. Other than that, it was fantastic

Review 64:Rooms were very nice. Everybody from the front desk to valet was extremely polite. Location was fantastic to all of the down town area.

Review 65:Parking is not the best!!! There's a parking garage across the street, but they lock your car up at 7pm nightly. We had to walk quite a bit.

Review 66:The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure you had a pleasant stay. Also, the hotel is within reach of a lot of popular destinations.

Review 67:Cool vibe. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable accommodations, nicely furnished. Good
