Reviews for Mount Desert Street Motel
Review 1:I choose The Mount Desert Street Motel because it was withing walking distance to just about everything in Bar Harbor. It was very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed just sitting out in front of our room and watching the foot traffic go by. I have already recommended the Mount Desert Street Motel to people who were heading up to Bar Harbor. Hope to stay there next year.
Review 2:The room was dump and smelly Our clothes smelled after leaving motel No radiators to heat the room only old smelly AC
Review 3:Only the location - near main attractions
Review 4:Lighting could have been better, overhead light almost like a night light
Review 5:Great Location, comfortable bed, refrigerator microwave flat screen tv great selection of channels.
Review 6:Nothing
Review 7:Location perfect for accessing everything. Convenience of car at door and very quiet at night. Staff is owner so wants to please. Stayed 4 days and refrig and microwave made breakfast and preparing lunch sandwiches easy. No down time for finding and waiting in restaurants.
Review 8:The only disadvantage was that the room was quite moist, which resulted in somewhat soggy clothes every morning...
Review 9:Great place to stay, with excellent location!
Review 10:The family members/owners of this motel were so friendly and helpful. And the location was perfect--just a short walk to so many shops, restaurants, entertainment, and the tour bus that took us through Acadia and Cadillac Mountain.
Review 11:Room very dated, walls very thin you can hear your neighbours in every respect. Also wooden boardwalk noisy and a lot of road noise even with earplugs!!! Not great value for money.
Review 12:Room very clean and friendly staff. Short walk to town.
Review 13:It was expensive for what it offered, even in peak season. The heater was loud.
Review 14:Location - close to everything in town.
Review 15:Tight fit between toilet and vanity. Banged a couple of elbows.
Review 16:Great location, close to everything, yet quiet
Review 17:Every thing
Review 18:Great location for a thrifty price!
Review 19:The room smelled old and musty
Review 20:The location was ok
Review 21:Smell of the room
Review 22:Location
Review 23:Close to downtown owners were helpful
Review 24:Needed upgrades, bathroom door didn't shut,
Review 25:The location was decent and staff was nice and helpful
Review 26:Well located, quiet and close to downtown
Review 27:We liked the location and the motel was very sufficient, not a luxury place, but we didn't want a luxury, just comfortable, clean and affordable.
Review 28:This in-town motel made it easy for us to walk everywhere.
Review 29:Nothing.
Review 30:The staff was very helpful, accommodating, and pleasant.
Review 31:Rooms and beds were great. Location is great
Review 32:Nothing - for this grade of hotel it delivered
Review 33:Location, friendly owners
Review 34:The room we had 205 was smaller than last years in this way. The bathroom had no place to set out the normal bath items except to set them on the floor or the toilet seat. They can not be left out to be used again. If you are not careful you will bang your right elbow on the corner of the sink. Room had a slight musty smell but had no exhaust fan either to remove shower moisture. possibly later seasonal use of air conditioning might take care of this
Review 35:very clean and walking distance to most places on the waterfront.( For a younger person) Office staff very friendly
Review 36:We did not mind this motel at all. Others may want to know that it is an older model that appears to be having work done to it to keep it more current.
Review 37:The location. We were able to walk into town and it was not far from Acadia National Park.
Review 38:Nothing. We knew what were getting and liked it.
Review 39:This is a 1950/1960s style motel that has been kept up. Rooms have flat screen, small refrigerator, microwave , and wireless internet. Very clean. Easy walk to downtown Bar Harbor. Just what we wanted at a very reasonable price.
Review 40:It was fairly small by American standards and kinda basic (but you get what you pay for) and the bed was quite bouncy which we don't particularly like. We were cold in the night as the heater made so much noise we couldn't sleep with it on - but generally no issues which ruined our stay.
Review 41:It was very affordable, very central and very clean. We found it easy to find and park at and the staff were helpful and attentive. The room had everything you needed, the shower was very good and we enjoyed the flat-screen TV and very useful handbook/guides of the area provided in the room.
Review 42:Our room (in the motel) didn't have the best sound insulation but it wasn't terrible either.
Review 43:The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was well-stocked and functioned well. The free Wi-Fi was great and the motel is very easy walking distance to everything in downtown Bar Harbor.
Review 44:A little pricey for end of the season, we weren't initially told ofthe breakfast arrangement with the Quality Inn up the street. Someproblems with credit card due to wrong address in their system but themanager was very good about it, no stress or worry, it worked out.
Review 45:Staff were friendly, remodeled simple inn design was clean andcomfortable, nothing fancy, walking distance to Bar Harbor shopsand dining.
Review 46:Hotel location was excellent. Motel is not modern buy very clean, spacious and bed very comfortable. We were lucky with the wheather in october. 24 C for 2 days. Because of the US Federal Shutdown, the Parks were closed but we decided to walk the beautiful trails up to Cadillac Mountain - 4 miles up and 4 miles down. Hubby and I are in our 50s and had no problem. It is beautiful all the way up!! Would love to go back.
Review 47:-rug could be a lot cleaner (seemed to be ground in dirt).
Review 48:-close proximity to shopping area. -ease of getting in and out of the unit. -front desk very helpful. -staff very accomodating and helpful.
Review 49:Huge window - in direction to the parking lot.
Review 50:Close to downtown Bar Harbor. Clean room and bath. Very good breakfast for US standard. Fiendly and helpful stuff.
Review 51:Needs to have additional "Black Out" curtain on windows to keep out light at night. Especially need something on door.
Review 52:Location - for the price Acceptable size of room Access to town and Acadia
Review 53:Although breakfast was included it was taken in a room across the road. The food was acceptable but very basic
Review 54:Helpfull staff who provided a pack containing local information. Great location, spacious and clean room. Overall good value
Review 55:I booked room on line it was easy.I enjoyed it from the first conversation I had with owner when I called and told him I was not going to make the 8 pm check in time. he said no problem he would wait until I arrived .I was 50 mins late he was still happy to see me.and was happy to go outside in the dark to get me extra towels. a big A+plus. They had gone in earlier in day and adjusted heat in room.very considerate people ! they are green friendly too another A+
Review 56:price of the room was a bit excessive, but then again bar harbor is not the cheapest place anyway
Review 57:extremely friendly and helpful staff, very nice room, lovely location, lots of space, good beds, breakfast included
Review 58:Jeff, who mans the desk when Jerry is off duty, is often surly.
Review 59:Jerry, who manages the Motel, is absolutely wonderful - very friendly and full of advice on the area. The motel is perfect for travelers looking to stay within easy walking distance to the center of Bar Harbor and who aren't too fussed about fancy facilities, since they have come to spend time outside their rooms anyway. Parking is easy with ample space to maneuver, unlike many spots in town, though we had no need of a car once we arrived: everything is very close. The Motel is clean, well-stocked with clean towels, and has an arrangement with the Quality Inn down the street for a free continental breakfast and access to the pool. The continental breakfast is decent; there are eggs and various breakfast meats available in addition to the usual muffin and coffee routine. The overall atmosphere is cheerful and friendly, and they have some activities (like a S'mores night) that would appeal to families.
Review 60:The continental breakfast was very poor quality.
Review 61:The staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestions about the best restaurants, shops, what we would like to see in Acadia. The room was comfortable and clean.
Review 62:Breakfast was horrible. To begin with, the breakfast trays stink to high heaven! They smelled as if they'd been hastily wiped off with a damp cloth and stacked. They need to be washed in hot water and completely dried before being stacked. I had to wash my hands later to remove the stench and I'm not the only patron to remark on the odor. The food options weren't fabulous, but seemed at least edible. However, the smell of the trays made me think that some breakfast items were not prepared in a clean environment, which limited my choices. The room was not bad. There wasn't a speck of dust anywhere and the windows were spotless. However, the carpet felt damp and I didn't want to walk barefoot on it. Also, the bed covers haven't seen a washing machine in a while. They should be washed more frequently. The sheets and pillowcases seemed clean though.
Review 63:Can't beat the location! A five minute walk to downtown Bar Harbor is hard to complain about.
Review 64:in our reservation was underlined that a person uses a wheelchair; the hotel staff did not point out that to get into the room there were a few stairs and the bathroom was not suitable for disabled people
Review 65:good location, not in the town center but a few minutes walk, with free parking in front of and ability to stay on the veranda to relax with coffee or tea offered at the reception
Review 66:The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The location was within walking distance to town with a short drive to Acadia National Park. The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 67:Room was updated in bathroom only. Air conditioner a little loud.Complimentary breakfast tasty but in a old rundown closedrestaurant. Creepy
Review 68:Location was perfect just a short walk to everything. Staff veryfriendly.
Review 69:Room was rathee small however it was very clean and well kept.
Review 70:Beautiful area close to Acadia national park and the shops and restaurants of bar harbor. We were able to easily walk to dinner and explore arouns the local area.
Review 71:We've been there at the beginning of May and it was pretty chilly in the room. When we turned on AC it was pretty noisy.
Review 72:The bed was huge. We appriated the location, you could go by walk everywhere (breakfast, city center, shopping mall, ocean).

Review 80:Location.price.
Review 81:Overpriced, nothing special at all. Soda machine didn't work and breakfast was inconvenient.

Review 84:Location, Floor plan,

Review 90:The rooms are large and clean, beds are great, parking in front of the room, outside sitting area, in middle of town.
Review 91:Short walk to Village Green and shuttle bus stop. Easy walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor and the waterfront.
Review 92:The price was too high,no pool
Review 93:walking distance to everything, the design of the room
Review 94:Cost, outdated
Review 95:Location, staff

Review 97:The location. Near the Park and near the town

Review 107:The carpet was dirty. Didn't look dirty but the bottom of our socks were filthy.
Review 108:Conveniently located in the village so easy to walk to a lot.
Review 109:No complaints.
Review 110:Room was spasious, clean and within walking distance to shopingresturants and near the Acadia National Park entrance.
Review 111:It was a handy spot to be able to walk to all the shopping, restaurants, etc. Certainly the most reasonable as far as cost within that area.
Review 112:Location, price, cleanliness, staff
Review 113:Nothing. It was great.
Review 114:Availability of pool & hot tub at nearby Quality Inn. Coffee pot in room.
Review 115:Friendly informative staff. The location was in walking distance to many shops and restaurants.
