Reviews for Falmouth Heights Motor Lodge

Review 1:The ice machine outside (while welcome if you wanted ice) made quite a lot of noise.

Review 2:Clean, comfortable rooms with good on-site facilities and friendly staff. Very good value and a great location near to Falmouth harbour.

Review 3:Breakfast subpar (basically granola bars).

Review 4:Very clean, great price. Don't let the words "motor lodge" scare you! Lady at front desk was so nice and sweet. We weren't able to get there until 10:30 pm & she called us about 8:30 to make sure everything was OK & that we were still coming!

Review 5:Nothing but suggest that you get a map of the area as the roads are confusing unless you have a GPS.

Review 6:As it was near the end of season they upgraded us to the Beach House with superior comfort and facilities. The manageress was terrific with local advice. Two good eating places within walking distance.

Review 7:we had to stand in a very small room for breakfast with many other guests. No tables??? Needs an improvement.

Review 8:Area was quiet and the room was small but comfortable.

Review 9:Wonderful location- easy walk to Island Queen( ferry to Martha's Vineyard ), shopping and restaurants on Main Street, and beach. Room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 10:room had a bit of a damp, musty smell, which was dissipated by the AC

Review 11:cute place - more quaint than a hotel; nice grounds and location. we left a charger behind... the housekeeping staff found it; front desk called to see if it was ours and mailed it to us. great customer service.

Review 12:This is the real deal. An old school, traditional cape motel, beautifully built with lot's of lovely details and with small but clean and comfortable rooms. I booked at the last second after missing the ferry to Woods Hole and the owner came by and graciously opened up for me! I would come back in a heartbeat!

Review 13:Having to leave!!

Review 14:Surprisingly quaint, clean, quiet, felt like we were at home. Steps to the beach, ferry and very short drive into town center and all shops and restaurants. Loved the quiet neighborhood!

Review 15:The room was small and provided no utensils to use with the microwave. The walls were thin and we were kept awake by the TV next door.

Review 16:The proximity to the Martha's Vineyard ferry, the grounds and swimming pool and friendly helpful staff.

Review 17:We lost power in the middle of the night and my husband went to find someone, and opened a door in the outside of the motel and saw a mass of wiring. He thinks the town should inspect the premisis.

Review 18:The staff were nice and the room was clean

Review 19:Kind of expensive for a one night stay. We just arrived in the evening and left the other morning for the ferry to Marthas Vineyard. Breakfast can not be called breakfast. I was just mini muffins, like really mini. Went to an other place for breakfast.

Review 20:The only complaint is that the king size bed is too large for the room. difficult to walk on the wall side. A queed would have been better

Review 21:Very friendly staff. Great value in a nice location. 5 minutes walk to the beach

Review 22:We were traveling to the Vineyard for a wedding and this hotel was perfect for an overnight stay and location to the ferry. Staff were super nice and very helpful with ferry schedules, tickets, parking, etc. Beach was within walking distance.

Review 23:Close to the beach & ferry Easy access to town, restaurants & activities We went the week before Labour Day & it was nice and quiet, easy to get around.

Review 24:Just the hard bed and nowhere to sit and eat the breakfast they generously supplied.

Review 25:This place was so cute and everyone was extremely friendly!!!! We had only 2 minor complaints. The bed was very very hard and there wasn't anywhere to sit and enjoy the continental breakfast. Beautiful property and VERY CLEAN. If they had a few tables in the garden area or on the front of the office it would be great! If ever in Falmouth and you don't mind a smaller room this place is great!

Review 26:Nothing. My mother and I had a very pleasant stay.

Review 27:I loved the "at home feel" of the Falmouth Motor Lodge. It was like being at grandma's house ... very comfortable and inviting. I look forward to returning as soon as possible.

Review 28:Wished the balcony was bigger....very tight for 2 people. Also wished they had coffee makers(Keurig) in the room!

Review 29:Could walk to the beach and there were 3-4 dining options' in walking distance. Staff was exceptionally nice and helpful .had a water view from our balcony.

Review 30:"Breakfast" was not out. Was already put away by 9 a.m, and overheard staff member on the phone assurring a guest that there currently was good out infrpnt of her. Nothing was there. Pool is said to close at 10 p.m or when dark out. Asked front desk at 8:30 where pool was she said out back and gave us towels. We went out and it was locked up. Some older man staff decided to clean pool hour and a half early in sunlight and lock it up. Didn't get to swim. Not happy. Staff does not communicate well. They do not give you enough for the price.

Review 31:Only complaint was the musty, beachy smell you'd probably find at most places on the Cape.

Review 32:Friendly staff, clean room and perfect location. The best deal for the price. Will definitely be going back!

Review 33:The Staff confirmed my reservation to make sure we had the correct set up for our stay. The pool was clean, the property was clean and off the main road, close to MV Island Queen Ferry ~ close to the beach!!

Review 34:The overall beauty of the area and the view from our room of the Atlantic Ocean plus the close proximity to good restaurants and the Island Queen launch, just a short distance away, not to mention that the manager of the motel drove us to the launch site......and picked us up on our return from Martha's Vineyard 3 days later, Great service.

Review 35:We stayed for two nights and completely enjoyed our stay. The room we had was clean, well air conditioned and roomy. The bedding was perfect with an all cotton quilt which we prefer to bulky comforters.

Review 36:The room, although very clean, had an unpleasant mouldy/damp smell. Felt there wasn't enough ventilation to keep the small room aired. Very noisy a/c unit, impossible to sleep with it on.

Review 37:Staff were very helpful, room was ready early which was a bonus. Location to MV ferry is the reason we picked this motel & it was just over the road!

Review 38:For what it is, this place is great!! It's not elegant, but it's clean, the grounds are very nice, a simple breakfast gets the job done and saves you $20+ . The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is very nice! Walk to the beach. Grills if you want them in a shady grove,..at a decent price. What could be bad??

Review 39:My husband and I had a great stay at Falmouth Heights Motor Lodge over July 4th weekend. Our room was so clean. We were able to purchase tickets for the Island Queen at the motor lodge without waiting in a long line. The fireworks were incredible at the beach which was only a short walk from the lodge. We were able to come back to our room and watch the Boston Pops on TV while people were stuck in traffic for almost two hours leaving the Heights. We enjoyed every minute of our 3 night stay. We will be back!!!

Review 40:A bit on the dirty side. Some random bugs here and there. Bit of a mildew smell all around. Paper thin walls. Small rooms. Mediocre bed. Really, we weren't expecting much when we booked the place but overall, we couldn't wait to not be there.

Review 41:Friendly staff. Free parking. A clean and free pool. Great location. Steps away from the beach and the boat to Martha's Vineyard. A 5 minute drive to the main strip with all the shops.

Review 42:WiFi connection never worked. Coffee pot in room would have been appreciated.

Review 43:Very helpful friendly staff! Well kept grounds and facilities. Short one block walk to the beach. Would be great for families with young children - nice pool, lots of outdoor play space.

Review 44:Limited eating facilities within walking distance. Could do with tea and coffee making facilities in room.

Review 45:Friendly staff, Given option to upgrade to main house at a nominal rate and view room choices prior to deciding which was a good idea. Nice pool area. Clean and tidy rooms Complimentary continental breakfast

Review 46:Air conditioning made too much noise to leave it on to cool down the room at night .... was a warm and stick night!

Review 47:Lady behind the reception was really helpful. Room very comfortable. 2 minute walk to the island Queen ferry.

Review 48:The bed was okay but not extremely comfortable. Breakfast lacked fruits and proteins.

Review 49:The location, cleanliness, and price were great. The staff was helpful providing information about the area.

Review 50:A little too far for older person like me to walk to town. About 1.5 mile but doable. We did it in the rain!

Review 51:We had a mix up first night on accommodations but the owner, Maureen, was so wonderful and moved us the next day to the beach house for the rest of our stay. She was so kind and friendly as was all the staff. The property is beautiful and the beach house rooms (not on beach but very comfortable) And roomy. Free parking also. Short distance to walk to Martha's Vineyard ferry too. WiFi was the best we had on our multi-city trip. Super fast and reliable as my husband had to keep up with some work stuff. I would highly recommend Maureen's family lodge.

Review 52:Felt very welcomed by the owner. Upgraded to a cottage with a deck which was very pleasant for the warm evening. Clean and comfortable. Walking distance to the harbour and good restaurants.

Review 53:Nothing bad but you need a car to get to the shops & restaurants from the motel.

Review 54:Lovely spacious room. Comfortable beds. Very quiet. Close to the ferry terminal. Free WiFi Falmouth is a really lovely little town with some great restaurants & cafes.

Review 55:It was convenient to places that we visited each day. Close to the center of town and candlestick bowling and shops. So close to the water (about 3 blocks).

Review 56:We could have used a little more room, but sufficient. We heard people talking outside our room several times in the late evening that woke us up. Also heard car doors opening and shutting because you are just a sidewalk away from vehicles.

Review 57:Location and service.

Review 58:We got a free upgrade to a room in the Anchor House, which was a steal. The people who work there are extremely friendly and courteous, and made our stay very enjoyable. The room is a short walk to the beach and to the Island Queen Ferry, which takes you straight to Martha's Vineyard. A quick breakfast (mini muffins, donut munchkins, etc) is served until 10am, too!

Review 59:The hotel blurb gives the impression that it overlooks the water, which it does not. A car is essential.

Review 60:The location was okay, as was the room and bed. I wouldn't say it was much more than that, and the complimentary breakfast could, with a little thought - and fresh fruit - be better.

Review 61:Although continental breakfast was provided would like to see a Keurig coffee maker in room.

Review 62:Cleanliness of room Stayed in beach house which was very nice with updated bathroom & balcony. Short 3 minute walk to beach, quiet & private area.

Review 63:Rain and cold weather put a damper on these Floridians' visit.

Review 64:Great convenient location for catching Island Queen ferry to Martha's Vineyard and setting out for daily m in various towns. Beach is easily reached with a one block walk. The Casino Restaurant and the British Beer Company became our dinner spots!

Review 65:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 66:Warm friendly welcome. Excellent room and surroundings. Perfect handling of small water leak which really did not bother us. Short walk to Island Queen Ferry.

Review 67:Would have been good to have coffee making in the room.

Review 68:Choice of rooms - we went for upgrade in the Harbour House which was spacious and comfortable. Very friendly staff and a great base for our short trip to Cape Cod which included whale watching, a tour on Martha's Vineyard and a drive round to Provincetown

Review 69:We got here right as the season was opening. A bit of a musty smell in the room

Review 70:The location was awesome with a outdoor pool, fire pit, lots of lawn chairs

Review 71:The motel was clean and in a great location close to the beach and about 1.5 miles from Falmouth Center. While the room was on the small side, and the motel was a bit old-timey, everything was comfortable and cheerful. Good value for the money.

Review 72:It was perfect for a young couple for a night. Very clean and comfortable. The swimming pool looks great but we went out of season so we didn't take advantage of it. Definitively a place to come back.

Review 73:Nothing to dislike!

Review 74:Very friendly staff - we were offered an upgrade when we arrived but decided that our original choice was perfectly acceptable. Appreciated the free breakfast which wasn't expected. It was the last week of their season and things were beginning to shut down but we were just a short walk from a great pub. A very relaxing place to stay.

Review 75:Walls were a bit thin (we could hear our neighbors and also car doors slamming in the morning). Breakfast was continental: some packaged donuts and just-add-water oatmeal. Not the greatest, but was to be expected given the price of the motel.

Review 76:Good value for the money. Very clean. Unlike some motels I've stayed in, this one had a personal feel to the way the rooms were decorated. The staff was great.

Review 77:We had a top quality room in the Grande House which was very comfortable. The staff were welcoming, helpful & friendly & the location ideal both for the beach and the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Grab n go breakfast was good too.

Review 78:Super clean facility and very friendly, helpful staff. I was in town for interview, and unfamiliar with directions. The staff showed me a map, and explained how to get to my destination.

Review 79:Cons included no coffee machine, but, it was available at the main office. Not enough electrical outlets in the room. Because of a CPAP machine I had to disconnect a lamp.

Review 80:The room was clean and had just enough room for a comfortable stay. We are an older couple and we did enjoy the three days. We'll be back.

Review 81:The queen bed was too hard for me and after the second night we were both stiff and sore

Review 82:Grounds Coffee/breakfast in the lobby Staff Within walking distance to beach and ferry to MV

Review 83:Guests were smoking near the main building.

Review 84:A short walk to the beach, Shopping both grocery and home décor, clothing and Cape Cod mementos also within a short walk. Right across from the Martha's Vineyard ferry...I used WiFi a lot without difficulty

Review 85:Heavy rain made sleeping difficult because there are no gutters so the water runs off the sloped roof and directly hits the ground. It was loud but it wouldn't put me off going back.

Review 86:Close to the beech and close to the bar. Very basic but clean and practical. Downtown Falmouth only 5 minutes by cab. Bus station also only 5 min with Peter Pan buses running straight to Boston and beyond.

Review 87:We stayed for 2 nights and found it to be a very clean, tidy and comfortable lodge. Very conveniently located (walking distance) for the Ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Breakfast was 'on the go' buffet style of coffee, fruit and muffins which was adequate. We would stay here again.

Review 88:Rooms tired and dated. Brochure picture is deceptive as most rooms are in a block with only 2 rooms in the type shown in the pictures which was very disappointing.

Review 89:Very convenient location for ferry to Marthas Vineyard and for beach. Lovely gardens and outside pool.

Review 90:Location was great It was just a couple of blocks to the ferry and bike rentals. Walking downtown only took 1/2 hour. Staff was EXTREMELY friendly and even called to say that they found a lost earring. Room was very spacious and VERY clean. That was refreshing.

Review 91:CAN'T THINK OF ANY DISLIKES

Review 92:GREAT LOCATION FOR VISITING THE EASY ACCESS TO THE AREA'S ATTRACTIONS. ALSO ENJOY THE VARITY OF LOCAL FOOD CHOICES. ONE BIG ADVANTAGE WAS BEING ONLY TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE MARTHA VINEYARD'S FERRY AND ABLE TO PURCHASE THE TICKETS AT THE LODGE

Review 93:We should have booked an efficiency rather than a room with a microwave and refrigerator. It wasn't the fault of the motel rather than our desire to cook our own meals.

Review 94:The rooms in Harbor House were roomy and clean. The pool was well maintained as well as the grounds around the motel.

Review 95:all good

Review 96:very welcoming hosts, very clean, ideal location with the beach and ferry to Martha's Vineyard only a short walk away -lovely pool and grounds - a great place to relax

Review 97:Room size

Review 98:We loved the location And the cleanliness. Rooms are pretty small. Remember it's motel. We could hear at 6 am our neighbours taking shower. Other than that we loved it all.

Review 99:This is a minimum motel. No real luxuries. While room was clean, there was a certain smell. Bed was hard and we purchased sustainable pillows at local Walmart. Rooms very small.

Review 100:Staff was nice and helpful. Location good. Grounds well maintained. Room was clean.

Review 101:There was nothing that I didn't like. All excellent!

Review 102:All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. The room was excellent and had a lovely sea view from the balcony. The pool was very clean and well-presented.

Review 103:The queen size bed was not very comfortable.

Review 104:The location. A short walk to the ocean and to the ferry boat to Martha's Vineyard. I enjoyed eating outside in the picnic area. Nice breakfast options.

Review 105:having to walk by a smoker who smoked by the pool every morning and I didn't use the pool when he was there smoking also another woman was smoking too. Not near my room or I would want my money back. I walked to beach in another direction. was not happy about that. It clearly stated non smoking property and there was a dog at the pool when I arrived not in the water but with a guest.

Review 106:location and comfort

Review 107:The location was excellent. A short walk to the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, the beach, shopping and restaurants. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly.

Review 108:The room was quite small but the rate was reasonable so I guess that goes hand in hand. It is an older building but well maintained.

Review 109:It was convenient to the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and a short walk to the beach and a few restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were nice as well as the pool A quiet place a night. Overall, the room and grounds were very clean.

Review 110:No safe option or in room coffee facilities, although they do have a fridge in the room. The bed was a little hard.

Review 111:Good location, lovely gardens & pool area. Offers washing facilities and the use of Beach chairs etc. The staff were very helpful & nice. Short walk to the Island Queen Ferry for trips to Martha's Vineyard & a short walk to the BBC which is nice for a drink in the evening.

Review 112:looked nothing like the photo's on line. you basically park your car outside of the hotel door. room was very small. needless to say after our return trip from MV we checked out at 11:00 pm

Review 113:short walk to the island queen ferry

Review 114:no real big issues. the wifi kept cutting out but then it was fine. and the motel makes a big deal about being able to buy ferry tickets at a discount. the discount was $1. So we paid $19 instead of $20 per person and $8 per bike. I wouldn't mind a better discount. but if you plan to go to the Vineyard, it's best to get your tickets at the hotel and beat the long, long lines. we went to the ticket girl and showed her the tickets and got right on. so we cut that huge line. we were the last ones getting on. hard to find anything I didn't like about the place. I would go back.

Review 115:I loved that we were a walk or a bike ride to the beach and ferry to Oakbluffs on the Vineyard. Great bike trails. People on the Cape are accomodating to bikers which was appreciated. I thought we got a lot of quality for the money. Grounds were nice. Very quiet neighborhood. Felt safe. Originally booked the last room they had with a double bed no kitchenette. It was considerate of the staff to call me and ask if we would like a kitchenette instead but with one king bed. The bed was big and very comfortable for both myself and daughter who is 20. We had a great week and slept well. Nice friendly staff. clean room. no smells. no pets and smokers. thank goodness because we have very bad allergies.

Review 116:Nothing really. Did what it said on the tin.

Review 117:This lodging was 3mins walk from the Island Queen boarding area to go to Martha's Vineyard which saved the aggrevation of finding suitable lot parking which I heard became full up very early on.

Review 118:It was not a very modern or stylish room but functional and clean, and the motel had a nice yard and a pool. Breakfast was very basic.

Review 119:I liked the location, with walking distance to the beach and some of the restaurants in town. Friendly family that runs the place. Clean and nice place to stay.

Review 120:Every thing was fine!

Review 121:Wonderful location, great clean rooms. Short distance to the beach and staying in the Grand House was perfect. New decor, immaculate swimming pool and privacy all around makes this our favorite spot at the Cape.

Review 122:Pillows and blankets need an update. Would like decaf coffee as a choice.(no instant)

Review 123:Walk to the beach was great, friendly staff, nice pool. Enjoyed the tables under the trees. Clean accommodations.

Review 124:The staff made us feel right at home. The morning we were to check in there had been bad storms and rain. They called us to ask if we would like to come the next day seeing the weather was awful. Everything worked out great! The rooms are cute and clean and the staff is great! I have recommended two other people to stay at the Falmouth Heights. I would stay there everytime!

Review 125:This will sound weird, but my husband asked for a small room because we wouldn't be there but to sleep. I needed bigger bedside stands or perhaps a shelf or two above the stand to be able to hold more things. The bed is where I relax before turning in for the night...ie. reading, drinking a soda, playing on IPad, talking on cell phone, doing puzzle books, etc.

Review 126:Pool, closeness to walking to the Island Queen boat trip to Martha's Vineyard, and being close to the beach. We also found a fantastic restaurant that we ate at twice.

Review 127:The room was pretty small but, realistically, how much time do you spend there anyway? Wish they had an in-room coffee maker as the front desk / free continental breakfast did not open til 7:30 which was too late for me to sample as my meetings started at 8 am and about 20 minutes from the motel. Room was great for one person, might be a little crowded on a rainy day for more than that....

Review 128:The location was great. Good walking in town. I was there on business so was not able to enjoy the varied amenities nearby, but did walk to the beach and in town. Very close to the ferry terminal - which I hope to take advantage of another time /trip. Lovely town. Little rabbits everywhere. Quiet and peaceful.
