Reviews for Hill Top Motel

Review 1:It was 25 degrees outside and the heater couldn't overtake the cold. Not enough blankets on the bed. Rug appeared dirty. No shampoo, just two little bars of soap. Shower trickled out water. Extremely old furniture.

Review 2:Parked next to room.

Review 3:The appearance of the bathtub made us choose to avoid taking a bath. It had no skid mat or strips and appeared unsafe and unsanitary. Absolutely HATED the plastic demonic picture that was covering a hole in the wall. Made us think of every horror movie about hotels we've ever seen. Tried to hang a towel over it but that didn't work. Thought about trying to rip it off the wall, but thought that would be inappropriate. The severely cluttered and dirty office made us skeptical of the cleanliness of the room. We weren't too far wrong.

Review 4:The bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. Glad there was a working and clean microwave and refrigerator.

Review 5:Bugs in the bathroom. Also got a bit pricey for what it is when we added extra people.

Review 6:Timewarp feel, nice view, close to whatever you might be doing in Kingman, AZ.

Review 7:It was "quaint" and there is a down side to 1960's amenities.

Review 8:Could not have asked for a better location for our trip. The focus was activities at Mt. Hualipai State Park, but we were also able to easily access the different wants the City of Kingman had to offer. It was also "quaint."

Review 9:Wifi was flakey Pool was a bit murky

Review 10:Location (walking distance to nice restaurant Dambar) Laundry, parking, A/C, views, quirkiness (1950's style)

Review 11:The guy at the desk doesn't seem to ever wear a shirt, and I couldn't find a strong internet signal even outside the room.

Review 12:The place is very outdated, but is cheap and clean as far as I could see.

Review 13:Older motel and room a bit musty - just opened the door for half an hour and it was fine. Cold swimming pool is great to relax and the price is right for what you get. No road noise that I could hear. If you want a cheap place to stay and a comfortable bed then stay here!

Review 14:had to pay for ice - put money in, but machine never worked. Motel wifi not working but found a hotspot

Review 15:classic route 66 motel gave us detergent for washing machine free

Review 16:Bed and moquette are too dusty. Sense of unsafety, too weak and old door just in the middle of route 66

Review 17:It is greatly located if travelling on the Route 66

Review 18:We could hear the TV from the room next door which was left on all night (until I got up and used our remote to turn it off!) We were near the street so the signal for wifi was a bit weak.

Review 19:The price, the owner who put ice in our fridge (and his dog) and especially the very quiet air conditioner and the swimming pool.

Review 20:Although this is on Historical Route 66, and is a retro motel, the roomwas in serious need of updating, up to and including the large sectionof wood panelling that had been cut out so you could see the brick wallof the building!! The Carpets were in serious need of being replaced,as they appeared (and felt) like they have been there since the motelwas built!

Review 21:The staff was great, and very friendly. Even with the lack of updates, the room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Review 22:This place needs updating. Ever who owns it should think about updating a little. It's like walking back in time and I don't mean in a good way.

Review 23:Surrounding area has a lot to see.

Review 24:The ice machine was broken. The desk person moved slow and the swimming pool looked old and needed some work.

Review 25:It was in a pretty good location. Out side area needed some work. Looked like a Bates Motel. But, the room was clean, we was tired from a long day on the road. Looks like they (the staff/owner) looked like they was trying improve the look of the hotel.

Review 26:Nice old route 66 motel, with lots of character. The owners are lovely, and they have an awesome dog and cat. There is also laundry machines on the premises.

Review 27:The wifi was accessible only outside. In the room it wouldn't stay hooked up. Our main issue is with the town. If Kingman wants to become a true destination for those wanting to relive the glory days of Route 66 the historical attractions/venues need to be open. Everything we were interested in visiting closed at 5:00. Evening activities are almost all modern and not at all historical or even have a 50s feel.

Review 28:The vintage 50s Route 66 feel was perfect. We felt safe and comfortable.

Review 29:No coffee in room. Ice machine broken. Bed hard.

Review 30:The location was on a primary thoroufare but in a quiet section. No hassles checking in. Food within walking distance.

Review 31:Less than 1mile from The Visitor Center, Route 66 Museum, and a Vintage Route 66 Diner, Mr. D'z and The Rutherford Family Diner. Did not use the pool, but I was VERY tempted, just too tired. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 32:Bring your own soap & shampoo ... No shampoo on hand and the soap supplied was very tiny and disintegrated quickly !

Review 33:The place was very retro 70's look with a push button phone ! Owners were friendly and place was clean. We were just passing through on a road trip and this was def. a great step back to the old Rt 66 era !

Review 34:Needs desperately to be better maintained. My TV didn't work. They fixed it - mostly, but I would have preferred that the hotel dog not have come into my room during the repairs. Gave a generally run-down feeling and very musty.

Review 35:The price was right and it was within easy walking distance of a Walgreens and some food options. The people were nice, and the pets were nice.

Review 36:fabric of the place is decaying a bit. But maybe that is part of its Route 66 period character.

Review 37:Cheap, welcoming, everything you need. Good wi-fi. comfortable. Great if you want to experience Route66 retro! Very dog friendly (and a very friendly dog in the office.)

Review 38:It was a older and could use new carpet. Priced a little high for the quality. But we felt safe and slept well.

Review 39:This motel was on a hill. It looks like an original Route 66 motel as the bathtub and tiles reflect this. People nice and it was very quiet. A place to rest on a long trip home.

Review 40:Would have loved better WiFi, but hey, they didn't have WiFi in the 50's or 60's.

Review 41:As close to an authentic 1950/1960's hotel as I've seen. Price is excellent. Owner/manager wonderful man. Real deal.

Review 42:If you are looking for modern facilities this is not the place. A place that time has forgotten. A bit of updating with retro gear would be good. Having said that it was an experience that we are glad we had. A one night stand I think.

Review 43:We liked the location. It was easy to find. Lovely view. Owner very helpful recommending a place to eat.

Review 44:No drinking water or food was available. Keep coins ready for the vending machine. This is a good place only as a place for night-stay as there isn't much to do during the day.

Review 45:The room was clean and well-kept. The receptionist was polite and efficient. Plenty of parking and free Wi-Fi. A convenient stopover in Kingman before visiting the Grand Canyon.

Review 46:When we arrived to our room the bed was un-made, it looked clean but we were a little dubious. On the bed box there was dog hair, along the sides of the mattress! If you are going to allow pets you really need to clean up after them. The room had no main light, just lots of lamps- 2 of which didn't work and had 'Do not use' signs on them. The AC was not turned on when we arrived so the room was stifling and did not smell good. A few hours of AC later and some room spray and it was okay. May be it was just our room, but it was seriously in need of some TLC. It's the most run-down hotel room we've ever stayed in. No amount of nostalgia can make-up for broken facilities and unclean rooms.

Review 47:The hotel manager was welcoming and friendly and gave us free tickets to the Route 66 musuem. We really liked the idea of this Motel- neon sign, outdoor pool, on route 66.....then we stayed there.

Review 48:tiny pool, they gave us a smoking room though I asked for a non.smoking - the male receptionist is really confused and slow, found a bong in the toilet water tank

Review 49:location, old charm

Review 50:Dennis was extremely friendly and we felt very welcome. The view from the Hill Top Motel was amazing! We would certainly stay there again.

Review 51:This is a rt. 66 hotel that has been kept up but not restored to its fullest. Convenient to restaurants, and the view was outstanding.

Review 52:Great location in a fabulous route 66 town

Review 53:location not far from highway

Review 54:Nice Guy at front desk

Review 55:Old, dirty and worn facility

Review 56:The place is old, worn, dirty and in a great need of updating/remodel

Review 57:Location was convenient for an over night, passing through visit--------room met our needs for the night (clean and comfortable !!! )

Review 58:The owner was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Review 59:old fashioned room, clean but smelly

Review 60:price/quality

Review 61:On Route 66 close to museums and a Walgreens across the street.

Review 62:The retro feel

Review 63:The AC was difficult to figure out...a bit stuffy...

Review 64:Quaint...very rustic...quiet. Owner was very nice and interesting!

Review 65:Laundry. I was on a motorcycle roadtrip with a minimum of clothes and it was good to have that facility on place. Fridge Microwave

Review 66:We wanted to stay at 'Route 66' style hotel. We anticipated it would be dated, but it beyond dated. It was worn out.

Review 67:Bath window didnt lock. Bath light didn't work. Parking lot in rough shape. Clean but not in good repair.

Review 68:Beautiful view of the mountains.

Review 69:Handy having laundry facilities

Review 70:The heater would not work; there was a dead roach in the corner

Review 71:convenient to town

Review 72:Very helpful and friendly owner.

Review 73:Nothing, OK stopover.

Review 74:Clean n tidy, pleasant and friendly staff, room had everything we needed.

Review 75:Ice machine broken

Review 76:The vintage feel... The proprietor was very nice and the room was extremely reasonable...

Review 77:Mattress was to hard, but that may just be me.

Review 78:The cleaning crew was nice and replaced only the items that was needed.

Review 79:Cleanness noisy ac

Review 80:Price parking location

Review 81:location price

Review 82:the musty smell - went away once the a/c was on

Review 83:The help from people at the front desk The family atmosphere The view

Review 84:County ban on charcoal cooking.

Review 85:informative staff

Review 86:There wasn't anything I didn't like. We would stay again.. What can a person expect for the price.

Review 87:We found it to be just fine. Yes, it is old, the bathrooms could be upgraded, but we wanted a 66 experience and got it. Beds were comfortable, it was clean, had all we needed for one night. Good restaurant about a block away. Easy to find off of I-40. The price was right !

Review 88:There is no air-conditioning in this hotel. Which is crazy considering it is in the middle of a desert. This is something that I would have assumed all hotels in the United states have. We were very disappointed and uncomfortably hot.

Review 89:The historic aspect of the Hotel was cool.

Review 90:It is very, very old. I would not take my shoes off as the carpet was gross or take a shower. Sketchy people here.

Review 91:The owner's were very nice as we had to chage our dates at the last minute.

Review 92:There was a very big contrast between staying in this Motel and the other modern ones that we had stayed in the previous few nights. It took an hour or so to adjust when we arrived, but the room had all we needed.

Review 93:That it was a route 66 Motel, so it felt like an authentic experience, particularly as another one I had read reviews about had closed down. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the Neon sign outside.

Review 94:A little out dated, but that wasn't a big deal.

Review 95:Cute little motel, great customer service, can check in anytime.

Review 96:Very dated decor and very musty smelling rooms.

Review 97:Room and bedding was clean

Review 98:Honest, clean comfortable.
