Reviews for Eagle Mountain House and Golf Club

Review 1:Common areas could use some sprucing including hot tub room and health clubs.

Review 2:Staff was excellent and food was surprisingly delicious. Overall great economy. A great winter retreat if you don't need fancy.

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:Beautiful location, room comfortable and well equipped. Staff friendly and helpful. The service, food and drinks in the bar and restaurant were excellent. This was an overnight stopover on our road trip, but we both agreed that this was a place where we would have liked to have stayed for longer.

Review 5:The bar staff are unfriendly and not particularly helpful. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. When we asked the restaurant staff for some hot water & tea bags to make a cup of tea in the evening the waitress was very rude and then we were charged $6!

Review 6:Location. Old hotel with lots of character.

Review 7:The carpet in our room was ripped and all the bedding looked old and like it needed a wash. Paint was peeling in our room too.

Review 8:The outside was quite lovely. Staff was heloful

Review 9:The hotel could use some attention to details to make the experience feel a bit more upscale and cared for.

Review 10:comfortable, clean rooms, clean hotel, pleasant staff. Due to work commitments, did not get to experience the restaurant, bar, fitness center or golf course, which we would have otherwise.

Review 11:Looked bit old and tired from the outside but turned out surprisingly lovely.

Review 12:Great view, enjoyed sitting on a porch. Lovely reception lounge, complementary cookies and hot beverages. Nice staff.

Review 13:My wife and I needed alone time after a difficult year. This resort with it's turn of the century charm was just the ticket. We were treated with respect and honor. It was quiet and peaceful. The golf was wonderful. We had the course to ourselves much of the time. The building itself is magnificent. There are very few of these old grand resorts left in the world and it was wonderful to experience it. The old fashioned double door elevator is fun to try.

Review 14:Hotel room was a bit shabby...the rug was old but considering the winter weather the rugs take a lot of wear and tear so not much of an issue for us. Less acceptable were the tattered bathroom curtain and chipped bathroom wall paint which are cosmetic and easily fixed but unappealing to guests. Not sure why this hadn't been addressed prior to our stay, really. Not a deal breaker for us but could put off others for sure.

Review 15:Lovely, historic hotel with doorstep access to Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Quick 15 min. ride to Wildcat. Charming village at the bottom of the hill. Hot tub and game room are nice extras. Hotel restaurant served well prepared dinners and a buffet breakfast. Pet friendly rooms available which is nice for dog lovers. Fun for kids with a movie night and campfire s'mores. Really great spot for families!

Review 16:I couldn't find anywhere on the website that refers to the "spa services". We were told when we arrived. Who brings a bathing suit to a hotel in February if they don't know there is a hot tub? Also, I booked a massage in town, and might have done it at the Inn if I'd known it was a possibility. Whoever is doing marketing on the website for the Inn is not really doing it. The restaurant blurb still said, "Summer is Here!" Only, it was February, and we were there to ski. Followed by a sentence with two typos. I wouldn't have let that stay up for a week, let alone 6 months. It gave the impression that no one really cared too much.

Review 17:We enjoyed our stay, found the rooms comfortable, the location beautiful.

Review 18:Twice our rooms weren't cleaned yet at 3.30 pm when we came back after cross crossing skiing, we think due to not having enough cleaning staff.

Review 19:They sent my lost glasses to our house about 2 weeks after we came home

Review 20:Creaking floors in the hall. Prices of drinks were outrageous.

Review 21:The coziness and charm of it all. Loved the beds....pillow....comforter....very comfy. A lovely spot. Nice bathroom.

Review 22:Having to leave !!!!!

Review 23:Found this lovely place on a previous visit, 3 years ago, and just had to go back again. Absolutely delightful hotel, in a beautiful location. All rather 'stuck in a time warp' but in a lovely old fashioned way. Very comfortable rooms and public areas, with huge open fireplaces. Food was superb. Nothing to grumble about at all, and would most definitely return at the first opportunity.

Review 24:It would have been nice to have a coffee machine in our room.

Review 25:The ambiance of Eagle Mountain House was lovely. Like taking a step back in time with the old elevator and antiques.

Review 26:The management needs to consider additional staff in the dining room for breakfast. The young woman working was her best, but one person for 10 or 12 tables was unrealistic.

Review 27:The location was fantastic!! Jackson Falls was worth more time than we could give it. Stunning views and great hikes. The old hotel was wonderful.

Review 28:The room was big, but the moment we stepped in we felt the dog urine smell. The couch was smelly and the whole place was dirty. Before we left in the morning we saw a few bugs on the sofa. I had to take out all the clothes in my luggage to make sure we don't take them home. To make it short: the worst hotel we've stayed in. I can't believe they are charging over 200$ per night. I would rather sleep in my car.

Review 29:Pretty much nothing was good there except for the wifi connection.

Review 30:Horrible service in the dining room ( over 1 hour wait for food after ordering). Mechanism on guest room door broke trapping us in the room for 45 minutes before maintenance could break into room to open door.

Review 31:Beautiful setting with a magnificent front porch for relaxing and enjoying nature and scenery

Review 32:Wish pillows were a little fluffier. Also would have appreciated a continental breakfast.

Review 33:The Inn is charming with beautiful views. Very relaxing after a long days of "kiddie" activities. Lovely original woodwork. Staff are warm and welcoming.

Review 34:We loved it all!

Review 35:We love the wrap-around porch and hanging baskets of flowers, the outdoor pool, the breakfast, the mountain views, the rock-tangled creek, the library.

Review 36:Front desk staff is very robotic. Not really helpful with location information such as restaurant info .. I was under the impression that this was a B&B, which it is not.

Review 37:Location is very nice

Review 38:Beautiful hotel in an ideal vacation location in the middle of the mountains. The hotel is grand with a large gorgeous golf course, a nice relaxing pool and very friendly staff and guests. Its hard not to have a good time at a nice hotel, and my family had a great time. We made some new friends and fell in love with the Eagle Mountain House. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and delicious. They have some of the best scones in the area. All the food is made in house and is fantastic. Bed was very comfortable and mountain views were spectacular.

Review 39:Would have loved to stay longer!

Review 40:Wonderful and charming ambience......breakfast was fine and pub comfy and cozy. Casual and hospitable.

Review 41:It's all a bit tired and could with a freshen up.

Review 42:Interesting old building with plenty of character. Surrounded by handsome hills and woodland.

Review 43:Very small room Acknowledge its a historic hotel, but its shabby

Review 44:Location Parking

Review 45:Liked everything.

Review 46:We felt relaxed and at home. Enjoyed talking with every staff member. Will definitely be back.

Review 47:Very cool place, old fashioned and authentic. You feel like you are in an other century.

Review 48:The historic builing and it's location and view!

Review 49:No breakfast no coffee machine in room

Review 50:location location location history of the building beautiful

Review 51:Spotless room, very comfortable bed, good food, great bar. The view up Carter Notch is as beautiful as ever.

Review 52:Great old grand hotel. Proximity to x/c trails perfect. Good food. Appointments are not up to the minute, but that is part of the charm

Review 53:A more sports oriented Bartender May have been a good idea for the crowd.

Review 54:Wish the breakfast was included as in the past.

Review 55:We've been here many times over the years, and always enjoy it no matter the season!

Review 56:Service was a little slow in the tavern and dining room.

Review 57:There is a very homey feel to the hotel. It is a historic hotel.

Review 58:The preservation of historical Americana!

Review 59:Restaurant service was appaling - not enough staff.

Review 60:Friendly and informative check in (jane)

Review 61:Gorgeous porch and views! Excellent food!

Review 62:Loved the hotel and restaurant served great food at reasonable prices!

Review 63:Quiet road, nice swimming pool, beautiful views, within walking distance to downtown Jackson for bakeries and restaurants

Review 64:The room was stuffy. Needed a better cooling system.

Review 65:Pretty much everything.

Review 66:Facilities are a bit dated.

Review 67:Historic hotel in great location. Check-in was efficient and room was clean and comfortable.

Review 68:nothing

Review 69:staff was very helpfull and friendly. rooms were comfy we really enjoyed our stay here

Review 70:The location was great. Has a unique feel as if you had gone back in time. While I like the historical atmosphere it could use a little capital injection to improve the golf course, gym ect. Perhaps that's why this was such a great value. Because of the price and beautiful surroundings I would stay again. Oh and it was clean that's always a plus.

Review 71:My daughter placed a gift certificate with the hotel on Friday evening, we did not get it until approximately 8 PM Saturday. Too late for cocktails or dinner. I spent approximately $26 at the MOAA luncheon and paid cash. I would have used this certificate, if I had it. We had planned on leaving early, go to church in North Conway and then have breakfast there before heading home. This forced us to have breakfast at the hotel and miss church. There really wasn't any activity that we are interested in.

Review 72:The location and scenery. It was very pleasant and peaceful there.

Review 73:nothing!

Review 74:beautiful location, clean comfortable room with HUGW bathroom, wrap around porch was Magnificent! The staff was VERY VERY accommodating and friendly. Cant wait to come back!

Review 75:pool was not working, hottub was not working, tennis courts were taken up by a tent for a reunion the night before, so no amenities were available really... golf was not ready to golf temporary greens..golf should have been extremely discounted..staff in tavern was not too overly excited to do their job...also dogs were allowed with customers so you would sit on the porch and have a glass of wine while dogs were on there barking...very disappointed..we couldnt beleive it compared to prior yearss

Review 76:room was lovely....food was lovely..

Review 77:very cold bathroom with no heating system there. No bread, Marmelade, apples, bananas, cheese for breakfast.

Review 78:Very friendly stuff for breakfast and Dining, very good fresh omeletts, so close to the XC tracks,

Review 79:Parking lot is sloped and was covered with ice, despite multiple standings. It was raining in very hard to get to our car. Nice to have a hot tub and game room, especially on a rainy day. Both of those rooms are good functionally, but could use some remodeling, new carpeting, new equipment etc.

Review 80:Staff was very helpful in attending to all of our special requests. Comfortable bed. Great to have our own thermostat in the room. Excellent water pressure/heat and the tap water tastes great! Nice lobby area and porch.

Review 81:Liked the excellent service at the New Years evening. The girls in the lounge were also wonderful even though they had worked long hours. Rooms were dry clean. Very helpful and nice smiles.

Review 82:The building is in need of repair / updates. The carpet in our room was ripped & torn. The walls are paper thin with no insulation. You could easily hear every time someone walked by- it was quite noisy. The staff were busy flirting with each other on check out & had no interest in helping us.

Review 83:The location is wonderful. The building is a bueatiful historic building.

Review 84:We love this hotel! Have been there many times. Nice, friendly staff, always wonderful seasonal decorations in lobby, cozy library and fantastic fireplace!Tasty breakfast (pancakes!!!). Great location for X-country skiing.

Review 85:The pipes in the room are very noisy and the bed was very hard for my taste.

Review 86:The staff was very pleasant. The inn was very clean and the location was beautiful.

Review 87:I didn't like how old and worn some things looked...it really showed the age of the hotel...worn carpeting, old water stains on the walls with wallpaper curling at the seams; cheesy bargain store mirrors in the room; the tub/shower was too small. The hotel just had an overall "old/tired" feeling to it.

Review 88:Love the location and the surroundings. Friendly staff. Love the grandness of the old girl...the porch with rockers; the main lobby staircase with the beautiful wood; the "they don't build them like that anymore" appearance of the outside with the stone stairway entrance up to the porch. It's like going back in time to the way things used to be. I really loved the comforter on the bed...so soft and comfy although the bed itself was not very comfortable; the mattress was too hard. The bar was very inviting.

Review 89:Had to argue to get a drink in a glass, rather than plastic cup at the bar, restaurant was expensive and poor, hotel very much relies on its location but disappoints where service is concerned.

Review 90:Location, hotel appearance, comfortable room

Review 91:Shabby rooms/worn out venue Needed entire update Staff didn'texplain that they were taking funds from my card upon check-in No opptyon check-out to ask for discount or report anything very abrupt staffRoom exceedingly hot tv had few stations, was old cost of room tooexpensive for what it was Wishing I had made reservations elsewhere; asthere are other places nearby

Review 92:Wonderful View from Mountainside rooms & porch area

Review 93:Our waitress the one night we ate in the restaurant on the premisesappeared to be on some drugs or something as she was totally andcompletely hyped, somewhat wrecking a quiet, romantic dinner at the endof a day of gorgeous outdoor fun and frolic...

Review 94:Keeping the historical ambiance of the Inn: beautiful and cozy -

Review 95:Needs a little tlc replacing worn out carpet. Also the waitress in therestaurant was rattled at breakfast the day we were leaving. Shewasn't prepared by herself with the number of customers and we endedup eating elsewhere.

Review 96:Loved the historic charm. It felt like we were staying at Grandma'sturn of the century house. Our room was great.

Review 97:Hot tub needed cleaning and sauna did not work.

Review 98:Overall great experience. Food was superb. Great area for skiiing and snowshoeing. Hotel has a lot of character!!

Review 99:I've been there many times and was an employee there many years ago. No one ever remembers me even though I stay 2 or 3 times a year for the past 7 or 8 years.

Review 100:I love the old style porch and lobby, sitting and looking out at the mountains. I enjoy dining in the tavern. I had a very nice room on the 3 rd floor which allowed me extra room- a cozy bed and a living room area

Review 101:The bathroom sink didn't drain very well.

Review 102:The view is gorgeous, the beds very comfortable, the library was perfect. I sat with a complimentary cup of tea and read by the fire. Everyone was very friendly. The nordic races were right across the street, we were able to walk to watch. The history of the inn gives it character.

Review 103:not much

Review 104:atmosphere...dinner

Review 105:Spacious rooms did not have the feel of a hotel or condo

Review 106:Hot tub area and kids´ game room could use some sprucing up.

Review 107:Love the charm of the old hotel. Surrounded by beauty and close to attractions.

Review 108:Wifi was very spotty.

Review 109:Beautiful old hotel with comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Food was very good. Extremely family friendly.

Review 110:Everyone, guests and staff alike was very friendly.

Review 111:Room was too warm, couldn't get it to cool down.

Review 112:Location, facilities, views. Great, will go back.

Review 113:Run down and not kept up.

Review 114:Location

Review 115:Only minor criticism was noise of generator (or pump) when sitting on veranda.

Review 116:Location, staff, general old-world comfort.

Review 117:Location and mountain views

Review 118:price

Review 119:food,service,views,rocking chairs

Review 120:the bed was painfully hard (and I do not have a bad back!!)

Review 121:It is on the register of historic inns. The rocking chairs on the porch were a big hit.

Review 122:The lifti

Review 123:Location of the hotel , old hotel lots of character .

Review 124:They offered a buffet breakfast and could not order ala carte

Review 125:The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Loved that it was an historic hotel

Review 126:The sofa bed was not very comfortable and the hot tub wasn't working.

Review 127:Love the atmosphere and the beautiful veranda and scenery!

Review 128:Nothing.

Review 129:Everything!

Review 130:We loved every minute of our stay! Beautiful location, great food andfriendly staff.

Review 131:great value for the price. clean rooms and bathrooms, nice rustic charm. 10 minutes from mt. washington auto road and hiking trails.
