Reviews for River Inn of Harbor Town

Review 1:Some minor maintenance items that needed attention. Not a game changer but expected them to be a little more on top of things for the money.

Review 2:Outstanding beautiful smaller hotel with a great staff and excellent location.

Review 3:We loved the River Inn..What a beautiful and welcoming hotel. The folks on reception couldn't have been more helpful. The port and truffles was a nice touch!

Review 4:45 min walk to Downtown but tram stop 10 mins away. Rooms could be seen as smaller and more traditionally furnished but , that's a taste matter.

Review 5:Dining options - upscale restaurant , roof top bar/ bistro and , bar grill. Turndown service and , old style service generally.Location quiet with river views and good free parking .

Review 6:Room was a little small.

Review 7:Nice touch to have a glass of champagne on arrival and glass of wine in your room in the evening. Lovely location by the Mississippi. Great breakfast.

Review 8:The Wifi was never up and running properly

Review 9:The staff was excellent. The perks were a nice touch. Wine upon arrival and turned down evenings with port and wine was great!! Housekeeping was great! "Alisha" (3rd floor) did an EXCELLENT JOB EVERYDAY! The breakfast and staff at Paulette's was Fabulous

Review 10:The did not have rooms with two beds. So we had to get a second room for our 19 year old daughter.

Review 11:Great location we really enjoyed the daily breakfast the staff was awesome!

Review 12:The included breakfast was inedible, but they claimed that they had recently lost their regular morning chef. Bathroom is small for a newly constructed **** boutique hotel

Review 13:Quiet location on Mud Island and just a short drive from Beale St and downtown. Paulette's for dinner is very good

Review 14:the halls were hot! Also while there was a malfunction with fire alarm twice in one night!

Review 15:The bed was super comfortable and beautiful. Breakfast was amazing!

Review 16:I wanted to stay longer. Hopefully on our next trip we can manage to add some extra time to enjoy the hotel and the surrounding area.

Review 17:Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful! Beautiful property and being greeted by the piano music was a wonderful touch!

Review 18:drapes in room didn't close all the way; very slow wifi; TV's slightly outdated and volume had a "governor" on it so when the A/C was running, we couldn't hear the TV.

Review 19:Great location with access to memphis. Quite a respite from the urban decay of Memphis. Very friendly and helpful staff- Melvin and Katie were great.

Review 20:Tea and coffee in room would have been nice

Review 21:Location. Friendliness of staff. Added touches like port and chocolates after the bed was turned down for us

Review 22:Being bumped probably because we booked through Booking .com for just a couple if days

Review 23:We were bumped from the River harbour Inn despite booking back in Dec 2014 and not staying until end of April 15 but they moved us to the Peabody which was fab so all ended up well

Review 24:Our room was not available (we were told that there was a maintenance issue) but the hotel was busy with a wedding so we suspect it was double booked. However we were sent to the Peabody (a great treat) for the night and returned the next day to spend the next 2 nights in the Penthouse Suite which more than made up for our initial disappointment -so a bad thing was neatly and professionally turned round. Congrats to River Inn for managing it so well !

Review 25:Fantastic location -out of town ,by the River but easy to get to Down Town Memphis. The breakfast was superb! and the Bar was fab -big windows opened to coiling breezes and great cocktails.

Review 26:We were so pleased we picked this hotel. Easy access to main tourist areas but and such a scenic, safe and pleasant location.Much better than staying downtown

Review 27:We do not own a TV and were unable to figure out how to operate one with two remotes. Can;t it be done more simply?

Review 28:The staff was wonderful and the room comfy. Breakfast was great.

Review 29:My room was so small. You couldn't get around the bed by the table without difficulty. The view of the Mississippi was through a very small window. Booking said we had a terrace. Not true. No terrace anywhere !!!

Review 30:The terrace restaurant was excellent. The breakfast was good and lovely selection and waitress service.

Review 31:The bed was uncomfortable for both my husband and myself. Not all folks wake up early on vacation. It would be nice to have breakfast extended to 11 am. The TV was set in such a manner that we had to arrange our bodies in an uncomfortable manner in order to view it.

Review 32:The hotel is set amongst a combo of single family, condo and apartment homes. A very lovely community. There were 3 choices of restaurants on site. All 3 were fabulous. The room had a great view of the Mississippi.

Review 33:We liked the non-hotel aura of the place, as well as its proximity to Poplar Street and to Downtown. It was comfortable, quiet and we had a good river view. The complimentary breakfasts at Paulette's were a nice addition.

Review 34:glass of wine at check-in. Port and truffles in evening. Ambience. The male piano player was fantastic. Coziness. Service. Bread pudding at Tugs.free am breakfast at paulettes.View.

Review 35:The breakfast quality, service and consistency really did not meet our expectations. We ordered the same dish twice on two separate days and were served completely different plates. The staff also kept forgetting to serve our table and we ended up waiting much longer for what basically are ready-made dishes. Also do avoid their "famous pancakes" if you don't want to have your arteries clogged up with oil.

Review 36:We had a great room with a view of the river and a nice comfortable bed. The internet worked well and we had a pleasant stay.

Review 37:If you want to be in the heart of the action of Memphis, this is not your place. It will be a short cab ride (but ask the staff to call their driver for you - he was wonderful and the car was really nice - especially for my Big Man.) However, if you want a sweet room right on the Misssissippi River, book it now!

Review 38:My husband and I went to Memphis for his 65th birthday - and this was the perfect hotel for us. Super charming, incredibly comfortable rooms, and the staff was beyond helpful. All three restaurants were great. The lit fireplace in the cozy lobby was so welcoming. Truly 5 star all around.

Review 39:A bit disappointing. This was my second stay there. The staff was not as good this time around. There were a number of smaller issues, including never bringing up a fan they said they'd bring, a rather rude bartender on the evening of 12/31 in the upstairs bar (we asked if they had port, and received a curt no, then he walked away), a non-helpful front desk member that same night when we asked for port, and a surprising cluelessness about the general area when we asked the concierges for help. (They had no idea about local movie theaters, for instance.) At that price, first-rate service is expected, and it simply wasn't provided this time around.

Review 40:The wi fi and tv was turned off the last day hours before check out time

Review 41:The area was kept up to perfection and really showcased the location everyone was so nice and helpful. I loved it the perks were amazing, it was the perfect retreat. I will defiantly stay again.

Review 42:The food was okay but did not match the rest of the quality of the Inn. We had our evening meal there.

Review 43:The location and beauty of the neighborhood and the scenery were the best!

Review 44:From the moment you check and welcomed with a glass of bubbly the hospitality was 1st class. The suite was sumptuous, clean & very comfortable, breakfast was good with plenty of choice, evening meals were delicious & location to Central Memphis & next to the Mississipi was ideal, will definitely return if visiting Memphis

Review 45:Such a beautiful hotel. Like staying in a southern mansion. Gorgeous view of the Mississippi River. Situated in a lovely, safe neighborhood. Really enjoyed our stay.

Review 46:The reception was polite but not well organized. They forgot our dry cleaning clothes and also answered differently on same types of questions like opening hours for training facilities and so on..

Review 47:We liked the restaurant inside, both the working people and the delicious food. Their starter was to die for. Rooms was good, especially the beds and the whole scenery with the Mississippi river running alongside was beautiful.

Review 48:Poor wifi signal in our room.. just outside the door it was fine...

Review 49:From the moment we entered the hotel and greeted with a glass of wine by excellent staff, to checkout 3 days later was perfect.. (well almost.see wifi comment.!) An amazing hotel in a great location, great breakfast, and the Big Guy on Reception was a real a star...

Review 50:The "free" breakfast included a tip at checkout. I tipped at the table as the check you had to sign had a line for a tip. waitstaff did not indicate they received a tip automatically so they were tipped twice and they were not that good.

Review 51:breakfast was very good had a view of the river

Review 52:Nothing!

Review 53:We liked the pretty and peaceful location looking out on to the Mississippi River, yet near enough to the centre of town, the comfortable room, the beautiful lobby, the excellent breakfasts, the welcoming drink, the turn-down service with chocolates and port, their informal restaurant, Tug's just across the street and the friendly and helpful staff. In fact, we cannot fault this Inn.

Review 54:Full of old world southern charm and hospitality, the hotel is warm and welcoming with a breathtaking location on the banks of the Mississippi. We have stayed there twice now and have not been disappointed

Review 55:Eventhough i had a reservation through booking.com they told me they never got the reservstion from booking and that they shouldn't have gjven me a room.

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Loved the decor and the authenticity of the room and the hotel in general. The views of the mississippi river from the bedroom were stunning. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very attentive and polite. Reception desk staff were more than helpful with anything we needed. Highly recommended.

Review 58:Travelling downtown not in walking distance, needed taxis. Breakfast togo(due to early checkout) was poor.

Review 59:Corner bedroom was excellent as was breakfast. Rooftop terracebar/bistro was very good too. Staff were very helpful, especiallyDeborah who went out of her way to help organise trip and early taxi, many thanks. Also the champagne at check in was a delightful surprise aswas the sherry and chocolates in evening left in bedroom.

Review 60:What we didn't like was the durty carpet, in the room and elevator. It smelled all a little "old" and definitely requires an uptade/change/clean. We still would recommend it, all the other city hotels looked older and the city center is not a place you want to stay.

Review 61:The location is wonderful, next to the river with a good view and very nice houses around, very nice people. We also liked free parking (not anymore a given in the US), free W-LAN (as it shoukd be in any hotel), free water bottles and even some chocolate surprise in the evening. We had breakfast included which was quite good.

Review 62:The only negative was the sitting area on each floor was not cooling well and ceiling was sweating. Rooms were very cool though.

Review 63:The room was great, comfortable and clean. The restaurant, Paulette's, was superb and the ambience of hotel was great. Close to walking on the river and downtown for activities. Fun time!!

Review 64:This hotel is nestled in a small community on an Island hidden from downtown Memphis but minutes away. You feel like your in France with it's decor and atmospere. It's quaint, quiet and safe. Great view of River from hotel!

Review 65:Great restaurant within location. Awesome bar & casual eating overlooking the river & bridges ( day & night ) Great service & drinks . Quality of area for walking, visiting shops, eating locations & fun meeting local residents who were very friendly . Lobby well suited for relaxing , easy access to bar.. Great room , quiet and well laid out . Supper comfort-bed.

Review 66:We were offered a drink on arrival but wasn't sure if that was complimentary and we did not get that offer again. There was coffee available at night and no hot water for tea at all anytime if the day

Review 67:The breakfast was great and the pancakes superb. Free parking the rooms and the general ambience was superb

Review 68:We felt pampered from the moment we walked in. An upscale hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. The location was perfect and the on-site restaurants had delicious food.

Review 69:Paulette's restaurant needs to develop a policy for dealing with loud, inebriated, and vulgar customers who were soooo loud and using obnoxious language, that even after we asked to be moved to another table further away from them, the noise level was still barely improved. It was surprising to me that this was a large group and consisted of men and women in their mid to upper 60's in age; however, their "good" time ruined not only our anniversary dinner, but the dinner and evening for many of the other patrons attending that night. I know this because many of the other guests were voicing their displeasure to management -- but the complaints fell on deaf ears.... Had I been a native of Memphis, I would have contacted the police. All of these people needed a taxi....or an evening in jail....

Review 70:Loved the location of our room. The room itself was very luxurious. Linens, glass of port and chocolates were wonderful. LOVED the glass of champagne upon arrival--what a classy gesture! Breakfast was delicious!! Grits were even better than I remember enjoying as a young girl on my parents' farm....

Review 71:Nothing.

Review 72:Everything was top notch. Staff were more than willing to oblige any request. Hotel is well situated with a river view, the river walk is recommended. Rooms are large, clean, plenty of storage, and a refrigerator. Paulette's for a fabulous breakfast, and although dinner is expensive, but delicious, we managed to get their $20 special on a Monday, and Lobster special on a Wednesday, not to be missed.

Review 73:Every thing about it. loved loved loved it

Review 75:Personal touch, professional but not intrusive
