Reviews for Harbor Hotel Provincetown

Review 1:Seemed more like a motel Rooms seemed a bit cold and clinical and didn't have carpets Too many outside lights at night really lit up the room and made it difficult to sleep

Review 2:Sea view and close proximity to beach Good food in restaurant Friendly very helpful staff

Review 3:There was an overwhelming smell of bleach when I first checked in

Review 4:The location was lovely although my room was not on the Bay side. The bed was comfortable

Review 5:No bad experience. I would go back to this hotel!

Review 6:Great waterfront location (not beach-front though) Hotel has clearly been remodeled recently. I was so glad there were no bedspreads!!! Just crisp white linens and a lightweight down comforter. Complimentary brewed coffee wasn't half bad. Close drive into P-town. I suppose you could walk but it would be a hike. Race Point Beach 5 minutes away. Beautiful!

Review 7:the breakfast buffet was cold and not supplied adequately. Never saw an attendant until we had to pay.

Review 8:The staff was super friendly. Clean rooms... However the bathroom could use updates. Only one electrical outlet in the room. The breakfast buffet was disappointing... 12.95 for food that was gone and or cold,. The view and the room was quiet and comfortable and the atmosphere reminded me of mad men. I would definitely come back.

Review 9:Price was high for what we would usually pay for the type of property (remodeled motel), but pretty much in line with other property choices in the area. Probably wouldn't pay extra for the view next time since it isn't from a private balcony. It is from the entry door side of room.

Review 10:Very clean. Friendly staff. Small refrigerator and microwave in room was handy. Convenient to downtown, but did need to drive to it. Rooms were remodeled nicely. Bed was clean and comfortable. We would recommend it.

Review 11:Bed was very uncomfortable. Smell of mold. Different rates for people. Also advertised as ocean view with balcony. Deceptive. Ocean view no balcony. Very disappointed. Won't stay there again.

Review 12:Close to provincetown. Staff accomodations and friendly

Review 13:Floor was simulated sand and very sticky. Needs washing. There was an ocean view but you had to cross busy road to gain access. Implied you were on the beach.

Review 14:Nice towels, very fluffy. Nice fire pit, overlooking ocean. Appreciated free parking.

Review 15:The view was spectacular. This was not a luxury hotel. Accommodations were fine for us as we stayed only one night while visiting Proviencetown. We had a first floor room which was just what we wanted.

Review 16:breakfast was at an additional cost and expensive.

Review 17:good location next to the sea and not far from Provincetown centre. there was a fridge in the room. the bed was very comfy.

Review 18:When I called to confirm our reservation/upgrade our room we discovered it had been cancelled! It was rectified by making a new reservation but had it been a busy time I don't know how it would have worked out. Them when our bill came it was fine upon checkout. However my card was billed $50 more. Not cool. Getting a call back from a manager about this didn't happen even after 3 phone calls. But my bank refunded it. Every time I called our reservation was difficult to find, not sure why, even after our stay the dates I'm he system were incorrect. Also our room phone didn't work. We mentioned if but never got a new one. This made me slightly nervous. These things didn't affect our stay but will hopefully be resolved by the mgmt. it would just make things really excellent here.

Review 19:This was the perfect place for us & our two kids 4 & 7. A very unique place. Looks like an old 50's motel updated into a retro-modern hotel. We upgraded to the suite which was a super idea because the kids got a pullout/tv/bathroom & dining area/kitchenette. we had a private bed & bathroom. Everything was modern. Perfect!!! The pool & cabana was great & little picnic table & green area right outside our room was so nice. The firepit area was awesome too. So unique!! We made s'mores, had drinks & sat by the fire & beach We were very surprised at two things: for the price this was a great stay right on the beach Well across the street but it's close enough! And close to town but it's a lovely walk & a nice peaceful spot. The other thing that we were pleasantly surprised about was the restaurant. We got there late & were hesitant to eat at a hotel for our first meal in such a great foodie area but the food was awesome!! My Hubbs is a Chef so we kinda know good food & he is hard to please...it was really good!!! The kids even got to sit separately on a rug at one of the cute loungey coffee table areas nearby & we sat at our own table so it was almost a date nite! Perfect. Our friends from San Fran met us there & were jealous they were staying at the sandcastle resort timeshare & hated it. They loved our place, hung out at our pool & firepit & room. It was so fun!! We loved this place & can't wait to go back. Perfect for families or a couple alone. We will definitley recommend & be back next summer! Nice job harbor hotel!

Review 20:when it rained the water came thru the walls and the door. floors were wet. it seems to be half renovated,,, lots more to do. floors were sticky. incompitant receptionists. one was good.

Review 21:friendly cleaning team.

Review 22:We had a wonderful stay at the Harbor Hotel. My kids had a blast at the pool. It is.very family friendly and I recommend it highly. We will be back next year for sure!!

Review 23:Breakfast buffet was a bit expensive, I would have preferred a more simple, free option. The hotel is also a bit far from the town which makes getting food anywhere else a bit of a pain

Review 24:It was nice to have a more remote section of the beach in front of the hotel to enjoy the water after dark

Review 25:Room needed a table and chairs and a rack or counter for luggage; there is enough space. Great view past parking lot making it slightly over priced. Room should have been cleaner for price. Later take out menu past 9pm would add value.

Review 26:Wonderful staff. Friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable, very inviting and adequately clean. Nice to have restaurant on site.

Review 27:staff was not that friendly and we were right next to the srorage closet and they were noisey not concious of the fact that we were right there.

Review 28:location and clean

Review 29:Property is great need of renovation. Very uncomfortable furniture. Mildew in the shower and broken faucets.

Review 30:Wonderful pool; great location just outside center of town; very nice and helpful staff.

Review 31:Would have liked some sort of breakfast to have been included with the price.

Review 32:Beautiful location, clean facility, easy, low-cost shuttle bus to town center at frequent intervals. A/C, TV, bath all worked well. Breakfast was good, but would have liked something complimentary.

Review 33:Price, way too overpriced for the room. Only paid for the view. Room was not clean, floor was dirty. Mold on ceiling . Can not open the window only the door to get sea air, but then no privacy . Bathroom too small also not the cleanest . Marketing made the king sea view room to be a "luxury " hotel stay , it was more a feel a dorm room , with foot traffic in front of the room all day with no privacy. Breakfast was not included in price of room.

Review 34:View of harbor !

Review 35:Promotional literature stated that shuttle bus was free but its not. Although when I didn't have the cash the staff were friendly enough to loan it to me so I didn't miss the bus. Some rooms may need paint updates.

Review 36:Lovely staff, across from beach, big rooms, old style motel but with a touch of fun about it. Better for families and people with dogs, not singles.

Review 37:The bathroom/tub were gross! Badly needed updates. No amount of cleaning would have fixed it. We all wore our flip flops in the shower.

Review 38:The room was modern and updated.

Review 39:A bit far out of town but well served by bus ($2) that runs regularly. Not really a place to hang out in but ok to sleep.

Review 40:Recently refurbished and comfy beds

Review 41:Pool could have been cleaner and dining experience was very bad. Server spilled drinks on us and then served our meals at very different times. One person was served dinner while the rest had finished. The operations manager made excuses for the poor service.

Review 42:Less expensive than most Ptown hotels. Bartender at Cabana Bar was great!

Review 43:Taxi costs to Province Town

Review 44:Nice seating areas, both outside and in, free tea and coffee during the day, good internet connection, pool bar and food, towels at the pool.

Review 45:Bed was uncomfortable, pillows had no support.

Review 46:Bed wasn't the most comfortable and bathroom was not very spacious, but overall hotel was very nice!

Review 47:Hole in ceiling, mold in bathroom, concrete cold floors that appeared filthy- wouldn't walk barefoot in room. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, sheets low thread count, furniture cheap.

Review 48:Ocean across the street was beautiful

Review 49:You can see the wear and tear of the property. Walls very dirty, ceiling in bathroom coming off. Very low water pressure in shower. Our room was not serviced until well after 4 pm when we called on the second day we were there. A staff person in the hallway said it was not her room and then also said she could not give us any extra towels.

Review 50:Pool was great. Breakfast was ok, just a bit expensive.

Review 51:Cabana bar closing at 4pm. Pool was too crowded and there were never any towels. Too expensive for what you get. Walls were very thin and tub and ceiling desperately needs updating.

Review 52:Staff was great.

Review 53:mediocre décor-except for better water pressure in the shower and (finally) new AC units, not much different from 10 years ago. Same sticking patio doors. But the room rate has sky-rocketed.

Review 54:We always stay on the ground floor in the back building. Like the ability to bring our luggage and beach stuff in through the patio door. Far enough from the lights of P-town but right on the shuttle bus route. Plenty of free parking.

Review 55:the only thing that would have been better would be if it had been free!!! Just kidding.

Review 56:We loved this hotel- it has been renovated and it very tastefully done. Quiet, on the water, friendly staff, good restaurant, fire pit with s'mores at night, right on a bus stop out front.

Review 57:The main areas of the hotel are not well-maintained. The back building is gloomy. Some staff members are untrained and unprofessional. This is not a 3-star hotel as Booking.com indicates. For travelers without cars, the location is a big problem because a taxi needs to be called to go anywhere.

Review 58:Tiny issue. ..the toilet seat was loose.

Review 59:I loved the decor...very modern. Very clean. We were only guests for one nigh, but I would be very comfortable booking a longer stay.

Review 60:Not very satisfied with the cleaning. It was not good and also done VERY late in the afternoon. Har to sit and wait for our room everyday when we got back from the beach.

Review 61:Nice area. Close to the beach.

Review 62:our toilet was leaking god only knows what, overall the bathroom was outdated and worn.Value for price was poor, but it is ptown in summer so what can we expect?

Review 63:We needed a room due to family emergency and you had one available

Review 64:I didn't realise this is a pet friendly hotel. As I love dogs this wasn't a problem, but our neighbours were dog sitting and the dogs barked quiet a lot which may disturb some people.

Review 65:Armond gave the best welcome I have ever had at a hotel, he is lovely. Valentina in the restaurant was fabulous and a star in retiring my bag to me. The fire put is lovely, the pool is good.

Review 66:We did not eat breakfast at the hotel since we have to pay for a buffet and we feel that the cost is not worth it. Bathroom is too small though for a family of 4. Pillows are too soft probably need to be replace.

Review 67:I like that it's over looking the ocean and walking distance to downtown area.

Review 68:The price The floor of room - like being in a garage The pool - loud house music played from 10am - not relaxing The location - right on busy road The view - of car park

Review 69:Free wi-fi and excellent breakfast

Review 70:Attention to detail. The room needed to be cleaner. There was a cobweb in the corner of the window of room 100 and the light fixture behind the headboard was very dusty.

Review 71:The staff at the front desk and at the pool were very helpful.

Review 72:Luke was very rude. Not only to guests but to his own staff.

Review 73:Armand and Keith made the stay exceptional. Provided us with the information necessary to get from point A to point B and enjoy the local sights, sounds, and food. Keith is also the BEST bartender I have ever had. You name it, he makes it. All with a smile on his face and an infectious laugh.

Review 74:Our room was quite large but the shower room was tiny and cramped, hard to get in and out around the toilet, and nowhere to hang towels. The air conditioning is really loud and blows right across the bed.

Review 75:The hotel is clean and comfortable with lots of facilities (Keurig machine in the room, pool, coin-operated laundry, bonfires). They offer free breakfast but we didn't realize that until we checked out! There is a regular shuttle service into town, otherwise it is about half an hour to walk. Friendly and helpful front desk staff.

Review 76:Room and furniture looked like they were from the 1950's. TV did not work, sliding glass doors would not open. Overall it needed an update. The cost for what we got was terrible. Charged too much for the room.

Review 77:The pool area was fantastic.

Review 78:I thought some things in the room could have been changed like the mirrors on the bathroom doors get rusted due to water and steam

Review 79:I liked the modern decor and the outdoor front area

Review 80:I enjoyed this property quite a bit. Is it overpriced for essentially what is a motel? Yes. However, everything in the summer on the Cape is. The staff that runs this property are very friendly and helpful. There is ample free parking and a nice pool area. It is about a 20 minute walk to the middle of commercial street. Oh an there is a beautiful bay beach across the street and you get some beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Review 81:Beds were clean with nice sheets but too soft for my liking. There weresome cobwebs behind one of the beds. Waited 10 minutes for a drink atthe pool bar......nobody was there.

Review 82:Pool was great. Location nice. Fire pit was a plus

Review 83:I did not appreciated that they checked in my friends and I into the wrong room but even worst, when the hotel employees realized their mistake after several hours had passed (more than 5 hours) they asked my friends and I to move to another room very late at night... *** Another situation aroused which I don't want to get into details in here but the reaction of some of the employees (The bartender and someone else closely related to him) at the Harbor Hotel was not the best. Instead of having a neutral position regarding the situation, they took sides and their personal comments/feelings about the situation were disclosed. I was very disappointed at this because after the scenario finally got resolved, they all knew that it was a very big misunderstanding and that no one was at fault other than the one person making the accusations. *** Or checking out was a disaster as well. The charges of my room and someone else rooms were all mess-up (due to their previous mistake when checking us in and then moving us to another room). If you like coffee, make sure you bring your own coffee maker since the one at our room was not working.

Review 84:This was my second time staying at the Harbor Hotel because the first time that i stayed there which was approximately two years ago around the same time of this past visit, my friends and I felt in love with the place (even though the walk to town is kind of long...) But this time the entire experience was not pretty and more to a negative side.

Review 85:Loud music around pool in afternoon Beach not really accessible from here

Review 86:Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff Lovely view of bay Comfortable simply decorated rooms Lovely lobby area Good bus service into town at the door

Review 87:We enjoyed this hotel. It was clean, well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions of places to go. We didn't have a chance to use the firepit at night but looked really nice. The pool was clean and had lots of sun, and also umbrellas for those looking for shade. There is a bar in the pool area which was great! Bartender was very friendly and personable. We had a great time!

Review 88:We recently celebrated a wedding anniversary and had a super time. The waterview room was awesome and the staff were very helpful. Pool and cabana bar were great amenity.

Review 89:The air conditioner gave the room a VERY CLAMMY feeling which made all of us uncomfortable.

Review 90:Fabulous location on Cape Cod Bay, with a Spartan but "beachy" decor.

Review 91:no bad experience-would stay again

Review 92:The location was good proximity to the town. The rest and bar was nice and modern. The staff in the bar was very nice-sweet couple from Serbia.

Review 93:The hotel is not on the beach. One has to cross a road and walk a distance to access beach.

Review 94:The spaciousness of the room. It is a short distance to the town centre via car.

Review 95:We were a little surprised by the lack of carpet in the place. Makes sense, given how much sand gets dragged in, but it was still kind of strange.

Review 96:We loved the location. Lots of parking, great view of the bay.

Review 97:The noise on the first night was terrible. I rang the desk at 2:40am to complain but nothing happened. Extremely noisy music during the day from the pool bar. Room exteriors were a bit shabby

Review 98:Very helpful lady on the desk. Comfortable bed and nice room interior

Review 99:The rooms are very drab with paint peeling off the ceilings, rust around metal fixtures, extremely small bathroom, no coffee bar, no continental breakfast, poolside bar not open, poor maid service, no carpeting, fire pit not open, plus a lot more :[. Just not good for the money!

Review 100:The only thing we liked about this hotel was it's location.

Review 101:Our room was in a separate section from the original motel and on the back side so we had no view. Considering we were there in what would still be off season (Tuesday and Wednesday after Memorial Day) it seems we could have had a nicer view with our room. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and with only one wait person, was very slow. I left without ordering after waiting a while. It's probably fine in the regular season.

Review 102:It was quiet, the wi-fi was excellent. The room had a fridge which came in very handy. Beds were very comfortable. Pool looked nice but it was too windy and chilly to try. We would stay here again if traveling in this area.

Review 103:Not much soundproofing between the rooms. Breakfast was Scarse by the time we got to it.

Review 104:I loved that you can take the shuttle that uses charlie cards right into provincetown center. The beds were A great sleep especially the pillows.

Review 105:Really noisy, lots of room parties going on. If had children would have hated staying here due to explicit language. Appreciate the hotel can't account for its guests but wouldn't stay again as a result. Felt the staff were checking in yet another guest and lacked a personal feel.

Review 106:The room was lovely, big bed, lots of space, we liked the location as out of town so 30 minute walk but we enjoyed this. Also right across from the beach. Very clean.

Review 107:The kids love waffles; the breakfast would be even better with a waffle maker and boiled eggs added to the mix.

Review 108:The location is perfect, the view spectacular and the room was lovely!

Review 109:The place was in tough shape and the paper thin walls allow you to hear what is going on in the next room loud and clear.

Review 110:The people working at the hotel were very nice and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 111:apparently, visiting in off-peak season, no swimming pool made me sad, and did some construction when i was there

Review 112:the view was awesome, just front of door everything is ok and location was nice, near the town but not really close which was more quiet in the night

Review 113:The room was small and the bathroom was extremely tight.. The promotional photo of guests sitting in chairs on the beach outside the hotel.is false advertising.

Review 114:The view of the water was wonderful

Review 115:My fiancee and I had a great experience. The location right on the water and just down the road from downtown was awesome. We would definitely stay there again!

Review 116:The front desk closes at 10:00pm. There was an alarm clock ringing in the room next to mine. I called the front desk and it rang off the hook. I tried to find a maintenance man with no luck. I finally went back to the front desk and there was a small sign on the door with a number to call. Luckily someone answered and they called someone on sight to go in the room and shut off the alarm. It was concerning to me that if there was an emergency in someone's room, a call to the front desk does not get answered nor transferred.

Review 117:Price and location

Review 118:Bathroom was very small. TV was very hard to switch on. Cleaning staff tried to help but couldn't get it to work. Next door guest came to assist in the end.

Review 119:Cleaning staff was friendly. Room was clean and spacious. The view was fantastic.

Review 120:A bit far from the commercial area. Blinds did not shut the light out in her morning.

Review 121:The hotel is just across from the ocean with a beautiful view. Rooms are spacious and the staff is very kind. Good cost/benefit relation.

Review 122:They added so many personal touches! Hand written welcome notes and even a complimentary bday basket and beverages... the receptionist was wonderful! She gave us great advice and was so friendly... the manager Mat went above and beyond to make sure our stat was the best!! Loved this place and will be back next year!!!

Review 123:The restaurant and bar were closed for the season which was not included on the website. The ice machine was even off. My courtyard view was of a stairwell. No bus transportation as advertised.

Review 124:The bed was comfortable.

Review 125:Exterior door painted gawdy color, floor needs mat inside doorway and outside bathroom.

Review 126:Comfortable room, great location, friendly helpful staff, pet friendly, Keirig coffee machine in room, and clean.

Review 127:What I didnt like is the front desk employee...he was like many othersthat hate their job....Was like a robot...was like we werent eventhere....wait he may have said "may I help you" but heobviously didnt really mean it....like ive said a million times"GOOD help is hard to FIND" and getting harder with eachgeneration...sad...

Review 128:I really appreicated the modern clean design...VERY Nice room...fridge,keguig coffee maker....comfy comfy beds...most of all superCLEAN....rooms are sound proof...the location was supurb...I Thought Igot way more for what I paid.....really great place price was crazycheep for what they provide....I Will be a regular!

Review 129:though very clean, not meticulously maintained (loose shower wall tile, big gap/breeze around door), and staff failed to call back regarding item left in room. But it was comfortable, and about what we expected for the cost.

Review 130:proximity to beach, price, parking, friendly staff

Review 131:Employees did not wear uniforms so I could not tell a hotel management from employee. Room shade via chain was broken. It would not raise back up. So we were unable to let the sun in.

Review 132:Extremely Clean. Everything was comfy, clean not a spec of dirt sand anywhere. Breakfast $12 @ all you can eat? Amazing price! We did not utilize it as the convention we were attending had it's own continental breakfast.

Review 133:Value, friendliness of staff, accomodations, Although It was closed for the season I enjoy the pool, the firepit, free continental breakfast, the harbor across the street and the fact that Harbor Hotel is pet friendly.

Review 134:Quite honestly, everything was pretty doggone perfect. The hotel itself (decor, etc) the location, the staff (we LOVE Adrienne and Loretta), Friday Fish Fry(WOW WHAT A COOL SURPRISE!) brunch on Sunday...ALL top notch. We WILL be back!!!

Review 135:The walk to and from town was a little long but it was far off the beaten path and very quiet for sleeping.

Review 136:The Harbor Hotel was by far one of my best stays in Provincetown. The bed was comfortable, there was an excellent breakfast buffet served for a fee and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I'm going back again next year!

Review 137:If your mind is not open to 'alternative' orientation/lifestyle ... Stay away from the town in general

Review 138:Beach front... Nice staff... Tasteful furnishings all over ... Decent breakfast .. Lovely suite appointments (worth the extra $$$)

Review 139:Surly front desk staff waited over 30 min at breakfast for service food slow to come out only two people who were rushing to do everything

Review 140:Location opposite the beach comfortable bed food was nice and hot at breakfast
