Reviews for Alpenhof Lodge

Review 1:Walls were very thin--heard all next door neighbors. Rooms need remodelling or a facelift. Total facility is very dated--expensive for value.

Review 2:Location is great! Breakfast is fine.

Review 3:It's worth noting when the Gondola across the road opens, we missed it by a week or two. It would be very convenient when it is open, otherwise you are best to drive to the lifts.

Review 4:Great location, comfortable rooms, great bar and restaurant.

Review 5:Poor Internet connection in the back lodge.

Review 6:From the moment we checked in until check out the staff couldn't do enough for us. We were planning to take a horse riding trip and they called and called to book us in. They has a DVD library which they let us have the use of on the first evening which was fantastic.

Review 7:too expensive for what it is. worse, no warm water to shower in the morning and the wifi is unworkably slow because of insufficient bandwidth

Review 8:this hotel is located in the village. close to restaurants and shops and shuttles

Review 9:No coffee making in room in fact no coffee to be had on site at all. Resturant closed (didn't see that when booking) only dinning was a sports bar in the cellar. Burgers and multi screen sports -- not for us. Very expensive for what it was

Review 10:Room good,location good

Review 11:Spiders/bugs in room but, the lodge is in the midst of nature...it is to be expected.

Review 12:Location, comfort, cleanliness and courteous staff, and food!

Review 13:I didn't like that there was no elevator to the second floor or that the room had no air conditioning. The online description of the room may have mentioned that but I didn't notice. The room was very hot in September!

Review 14:I liked the location of the hotel and the European design. Nice lakes. Breakfast was done in a European continental style which is something we're used to. It consisted of bread, cheese, salami, ham, yogurt, coffee, tea and juice.

Review 15:This was a very out dated lodge. There was no elevator which made carrying bags up the stairs tough, I was traveling with a small kid so we had a lot of stuff. The floors squeaked every time I walked in the room.

Review 16:The location was great and the staff was friendly.

Review 17:Wifi a bit slow, but we can live without It unlike some people! Don't understand why we had to have $100 set aside on a credit card, no other hotels seem to do that??

Review 18:Hotel looks great, very swissy looking! Bed VERY comfortable, good breakfast.Amazing choice of beers in the clock tower bar. Ate dinner at Slocombes down the road good burgers and pulled pork.Room had view through trees at the back, loved everything.

Review 19:The room was excessively hot and even the fan didn't help that much to cool the room down. The wifi was intermittent or didn't work.

Review 20:For a complimentary meal, the breakfast was very good. Ron (reception) was very welcoming and helpful on our arrival. The clock tower bar was very convenient and had a excellent selection of beers on tap, with very nice bar staff.

Review 21:The staff is very unfriendly. The room are not cleaned well and the hotel doesn't have a lift, then with heavy luggage it is not easy to take the stairs. Wifi connection is really bad.

Review 22:Breakfast is very good. Parking available.

Review 23:No Air-conditioning, but that's the same for most hotels in that area. Breakfast should have been better for that price.

Review 24:Friendliness and politeness of the staff. Its family run business and it has been a while having spoken to someone so polite. Plus I was able to get fans for my room.

Review 25:The WiFi really sucked big time, more so since we were in the rear end of the property away from the main building.

Review 26:The location and the general area as well as the free breakfat

Review 27:Rooms were very hotel as no air-con, but considering this is a ski resort and we were there in June it's sort of expected.

Review 28:Location was great, easy to find, nice restaurants close by, rustic feel, friendly staff, value for money.

Review 29:No critically bad experience. However, the breakfast was terrible - nothing fresh, nor organic. It was all processed industry food-like substances - from the '80s. Also, it was sad to see that all of the utensils and cutlery were one-time use throw-aways. Not sustainable at all.

Review 30:Walking distance to the center and lift. The staff are really nice and helpful. Ron at the front desk guided us to the right hiking trails to avoid rain, etc. The rooms were kept clean.

Review 31:Nothing.

Review 32:The staff were very welcoming and friendly which was great after a long day of travel. The location is very good and it is easy to find. The breakfast room was large and inviting.

Review 33:Wifi was weak. No microwave

Review 34:Most amazing staff. They would help you with anything. They even gave my money back after i missed one day due to the weather... And i didn't even ask! Also great location, very comfortable and quiet rooms. Nice breakfast. Clean!

Review 35:Very small showers and bathroom, no fireplace considering its a winter cabin resort, bar smells like beer, hot tub always crowded, floors very noisy, breakfast consisted of lunch meat, pastries/breads, hardboiled cold eggs, oatmeal, and coffee/tea/juice

Review 36:VERY close to gondola, packed bar during saturday night, relaxed atmosphere, cookies on the counter of the front desk, good parking, mini fridge in room, washer and dryer downstairs

Review 37:The showers could be more updated and the bathroom larger.

Review 38:The location across from Village and near shuttle and gondola is great. Good to have parking. Staff friendly and helpful the whole time. No complaints really. Loved the restaurant attached --Petra's.

Review 39:They have a serious acoustic isolation problem in room 300. When the two rooms below mine had their bathroom fans turned on, it was impossible to sleep. Besides the noise, the bed kept shaking as long as those bathrooms fans were functioning. One night, someone turned the bathroom fan at 3:00 am and only turned it off at 7:00 am. It was a horrible night to sleep. The internet is slow and very unstable in the rooms. I could only get a fairly poor connection in the lobby.

Review 40:I think there is no better location in Mammoth Lakes if you want to ski/snowboard. The hotel is very close to the Village Gondola, which gives access to the Canyon Lodge area. The Petra restaurant (delicious food and excellent service) is part of the hotel, as well as the Clock Tower Cellar bar. The collective hot Jacuzzi is small, but it is good.

Review 41:We arrived at 10:30. The person checking us in had a terrible attitude. He even told us you can try the wifi, but it sux. He was right about that. Also, it just smelled very musty. My pillow smelled like a cat peed on it.

Review 42:The location was just across the street from the lift. The cellar bar was fun.

Review 43:I couldn't find anything to complain about ;-)

Review 44:The staff really stood out as my first impression. On the phone Aaron was very helpful and informative. When we arrived he and the other gentleman working the front desk were very friendly and helpful. They got my friend and I into a room with 2 beds even though we booked a King (all that was available online). The room was clean and the beds were very comfy. You can't beat the location for the price either. It's directly across from the Village and Gondola. And there's a fun bar right downstairs ;-)

Review 45:bed was firm for my liking but overall is stay here again

Review 46:Location was great literally like a 400 ft walk across st to multiple restaurants and a Starbucks, however we had the continental breakfast there at alpenhof just 1 of the 3 mornings but it was great nice spread really good coffee (unlike Toomey's) across the street

Review 47:There wasn't anything we disliked. The area seems to shut down the Around the first week in October for a couple of weeks. Something to bear in mind if you want lots going on.

Review 48:The room was clean and a good size. Fridge and coffe maker in room were very useful. Breakfast was a cold buffet with lots of good quality food to choose from. The staff were all very friendly especially Christine on reception, she was great to talk to. She gave us a map and suggested places for sightseeing, she also had a good knowledge of the history of the surrounding area and some good stories about the Bears. The Lodge is situated just across the road from the pretty village centre and a very short walk the the local Mammoth Brewery.

Review 49:With the older hotel, their walls are a little thin but it's still quiet there.

Review 50:Older hotel that is well maintained and comfortable. Good breakfast, clean rooms and great location to walk to the village or drive to the older part of town. Right along bus lines too.

Review 51:All was great and would recomeng it to anyone the rooms were great as we were near to the fall the fact there was no air con didn't matter it would have been a bit hot during the summer

Review 52:The only drawback to room 401 is that it's next to the trash cans - no stink or anything just get woken up at 7am once on Saturday morning nbd

Review 53:This place is right across from the new village where all the nice restaurants are. From the moment we got there the staff was very friendly. The breakfast is not extensive but offers everything you need to get up, fuel up and get out. Rooms are clean, good sized and comfy. For hands down the cheapest place to stay in Mammoth coupled with a free breakfast you can't complain about the little things - it's no four star Ritz but it's no dump either. The bar downstairs is a favorite for locals and has a great atmosphere. Here's a secret shhhhh....we stayed in room 401 - it is THE BEST room in the place for the price! You get a fireplace, your own private porch to hang out on and is right next to the door that goes to the bar and the hot tub. Ask for room 401 I promise you won't regret it! Oh, and if you're lucky there's a friendly 1000 pound bear that likes to visit your porch at about 1am!

Review 54:Pleasant and helpful staff. A very nice continental breakfast. Pool temperature was bracing, but the hotub was great. The Alpenhof Lodge has a friendly atmosphere and much more charm than a chain hotel.

Review 55:We did not like that the WiFi was spotty and often unavailable. Also, we were leaving very early for a 100 mile bicycle ride and ask if we could sit in the hot tub for a few minutes and were told it did not open until 10 am.

Review 56:We liked that this hotel was located across the street from the village and just minutes from Mammoth Mountain. It is an older property but was very clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 57:Noisy water pipes during night interrupted sleep, no coffee pot. Electrical outlets inaccessible---"free" breakfast was skimpy

Review 58:Quaint, clean, friendly

Review 59:Room was hot as first but cooled off later.

Review 60:We received good advice about where to eat in nearby Mammoth village which had a range of restaurants, as their restaurant was fully booked. The breakfast was good.

Review 61:Breakfast was served in paper plates and cups!! Low shower head

Review 62:Comfortable room Very clean Friendly staff Great bar on site too - important when most of the resort is shut in the summer!

Review 63:The downstairs Clocktower bar could use a little sprucing up. Softer pillows would be nice. Expand the appetizer menu at Petra's.

Review 64:Love this place. The location is awesome since you can walk to so many eating and drinking establishments and there is a very nice restaurant and a bar underneath directly on site. Shuttle stop is right across the street too. Nice large parking lot available. Room was clean. One of the very few hotels where I wasn't afraid to walk on the carpet without my flip-flops on. It was summer, so the room was a little warm because there is no AC (as is the case with most places in Mammoth), but the provided fan and an open window helped. Definitely recommended!

Review 65:Carpets in hallways looking a bit tired. Dining room a bit dark but food was delicious tis a bit pricey though

Review 66:Nice friendly staff pool adequate after for a leisurely dip. Clean room comfortable bed. Continental breakfast was plentiful

Review 67:Not much tbh.

Review 68:Location was good and the hotel had a pool and hot tub! Room was nice, pub under hotel served good beer and better food but like so many American bars needs to not be ashamed its a pub and let some light in! Breakfast was good also. Overall a good solid hotel.

Review 69:Awesome location. Cool staff and great price.

Review 70:Perfect location to the Village and near to restaurants and shopping

Review 71:concerned and helpful and friendly staff

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:Friendly staff on arrival, comfy bed, good breakfast. Lovely town. Very pretty at night.

Review 74:It was all good.

Review 75:In room fireplace, clean rooms, good breakfast.

Review 76:No air condition, room over looked a restaurant on the street and the air conditioning from kitchen below was very noisy.

Review 77:Locality great

Review 78:I did not have any bad experience

Review 79:Accommodating staff, lovely room, clean, close to great restaurants and village. We will return.

Review 80:None

Review 81:My sink at 411 seems like designed for midgets!!

Review 82:Understandably set up more for winter skiing than summer holidays.

Review 83:Good hotel restaurant. Great cocktails in bar!

Review 84:Too over priced.

Review 85:Location

Review 86:The Location is great, and convenient for areas within town.

Review 87:The internet was shocking but that's probably down to the High altitude.

Review 88:Both The lady and young man on reception were marvellous and so helpful.

Review 89:The room was a little stuffy. The wifi was bad!

Review 90:The location to the shops and lift. Staff was very nice. The breakfast was ok. The eggs were rubbery.

Review 91:Bed was too hard, could not use spa because it was too close to 9 pm

Review 92:Location, decor, breakfast

Review 93:The bed was too hard and uncomfortable.that's my only complaint.

Review 94:Location was excellent and staff was nice. The breakfast was decent.
