Reviews for Bar Harbor Villager Motel

Review 1:Breakfast wasn't all that great. Pretty expensive for what the property is. Probably would not stay here again - even though the location was great.

Review 2:Location

Review 3:Rooms were small. No space in bathroom for two people. Extra sink outside to use while someone was occupying the room would be nice. Also front of hotel had nice chairs and views of the town. Back where we were put was blocked by bushes and looked at back of buildings.

Review 4:The location

Review 5:Breakfast is a coffe or tea, little cereal, a toast, a bagel, a yogurt have a nice day.

Review 6:What is so great about this place is that it is so close to the downtown. Your right there at the end of the action of the street. It does have a pool although it was not open when we went.

Review 7:The pool water was clean looking but the sides of the pool had green algae all the way around. Needless to say we did not go in!

Review 8:The location was good for walking into town and eating out. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 9:Clean comfortable room, surprisingly quiet considering it's in central Bar Harbor. Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast, great location for access to Acadia. Good value. Would stay here again.

Review 10:bathroom small but clean. need another mirror. mom and daughter traveling. outside appearance needs updating. didn't have breakfast included but that was ok because we wouldn't be interested in continental carbs. they don't have maid service in the cabins I guess. Maybe they do in the rooms.

Review 11:the inside of the cabin was clean, cheery, and bright. kitchenette was very nice, updated. wifi was good. If we had sun we would have enjoyed the beach more. nice staff. for the deal I got on booking.com I thought the price was good. bed was very comfy. had a good sleep. quiet.

Review 12:Rooms are tired, and although I believe they were clean, the carpeting and chairs were stained and in need of replacement. The bathroom fixtures were outdated and small.

Review 13:Location, location, location.

Review 14:I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights together with my wife and our five-years-old daughter. We have paid all the money for our stay when we checked in. But after we left, the hotel overcharge $100 by themselves before telling me. The first reason is that they think we did some cooking and left some unpleasant smell. Actually the room was not smell good when we checked in. They assumed we do cooking because there is a small rice cooker in my luggage. The manager said she goes into my room and checks it by herself. The second reason is that their staff count we have six people. I really don't know how it can be possible? When we still in the hotel, nobody told me anything about smell or more people, but after we left, they charged me extra money. What behavior it is? I try to argue with them, but they stop replying me after two emails. So you should prepare to be overcharged with some ridiculous reasons if you want to stay in their hotels. I have been in dozens of hotels for business or relaxation, but I have never met something terrible like that.

Review 15:Can not wait to visit again. It's not the Hilton, but recommend this place high on the scale. My Harley Davidson even had towels. Can' t beat that. You will love the location along with the comfort

Review 16:Wifi in the room was a little weak, apart from that nothing to complain at all

Review 17:Great location, very friendly staff, very clean, good breakfast, nice pool, just perfect

Review 18:Double beds are just too small for a resort. The rooms were in need of updating...they were clean but a little shabby. I felt we were paying much more for the location than the actual room. That being said, I do realize we were visiting in prime summer time and we expected to pay.

Review 19:Loved the location for exploring downtown. Everyone on the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice with enough room for guests to sit as long as everyone didn't eat at once. The pool area was nice and inviting. It made a great base for several days of exploring Acadia, and it was always pleasant to come back to the hotel after hiking and biking all day.

Review 20:Great location intown and to Acadia National Park. Breakfast was very nice! A little on the expensive side for the quality of the room but you pay for location so it was worth it. I would stay there again.

Review 21:Parking was tight. Sometimes tough to get s spot but considering we were right on the main drag in town it was the best it could be. You just need to keep it in your mind when away from the motel

Review 22:The room was clean and comfortable. Staff was warm and friendly. Loved the lication!!

Review 23:Breakfast quite basic, otherwise everything was great!

Review 24:Clean and comfortable rooms Helpful staff Great location, walking distance to the main strip Good wifi

Review 25:We removed all of our luggage and took a walk because check out was 11 am. When we returned to the room the housekeeper was cleaning. Only problem was we had some food in the fridge and fruit on the table along with our bill. She assumed we were gone and cleaned up. Wish she had checked the office. I was looking forward to my leftovers.

Review 26:Location was a great winner. Staff friendly.

Review 27:Wi-Fi left something to be desired. It was sporadic at best.

Review 28:Kids running breakfast bar were awesome; courteous and hard-working. Always well-stocked and fresh.

Review 29:We are older and we found the bed to be too firm for our bodies.

Review 30:Loved the location. It's right in the middle of town. Easy walk to stores, restaurants, bar, etc. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient.

Review 31:Continental breakfast was blah. Hard boiled eggs did not taste fresh.

Review 32:Staff was friendly and helpful. Everything in the village of Bar Harbor was in walking distance. Be sure to check out Reel Pizza where you can order Pizza and eat it while watching a movie!

Review 33:The WiFi was poor enough that we relied on 4G for most Internet activity. I discussed this with staff, and they are working on it. To be fair, our WiFi access from open access points in Bar Harbor performed poorly in general.

Review 34:The Villager was budget priced, featured clean rooms and friendly staff. For this location, I believe they are a great value. I would definitely stay there again if visiting MDI.

Review 35:The breakfast was fair. They had the typical cold cereals., good muffins, and ok coffee.

Review 36:This motel was in an excellent location. The rooms were very very clean!

Review 37:An amazing location and very good experience for the affordable cost. We loved the short walk to downtown Bar Harbor and the less than 5 minute drive to Acadia National Park.

Review 38:The breakfast was a little meager, but to be fair it is advertised as a continental breakfast, so can't really complain. The parking is a little limited, especially if you arrive after 6pm or so - but hard to complain when it's free. The rooms themselves could use a little updating, but everything was still clean and comfortable, and I suppose it added to the rustic feel of the quaint New England town :) Overall, my 'complains' are really minimal - this is a great place to stay.

Review 39:The location is great, walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on the main 'drag' of Bar Harbor. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of space. I appreciated having a mini-fridge in the room, and both the heat and A/C worked well. The WiFi also worked well. Staff was friendly and accommodating, helping me with recommendations, directions, and even printing my airline boarding passes for me. I'd recommend staying here again, for the location alone!

Review 40:The motel is a simple no frills establishment as the facility is on the older side it lacks amenities of newer establishments as Should be expected. Unit was clean and the staff was very friendly and responsive. GREAT Location.

Review 41:Did not care for the continental breakfast. Went to Great Maine Breakfast. A must.

Review 42:Definitely liked the location. We could walk anywhere, shops, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. The ocean not to far away.

Review 43:I liked how we were located right in the town and how we could walk to really anywhere we wanted in the town It was nice just to leave the car at the hotel and walk around the town or walk to go get dinner

Review 44:We were not impressed with the breakfast available.

Review 45:It was right in the center of town, very comfortable, and a great price. Also very close to Acadia National Park. Great breakfast places close by.

Review 46:We found the price a bit high for a room booked after the first of October, however, it was in line with other similar class hotels/motels in the area.

Review 47:The facility was clean and well maintained but not unlike many others in the area. The best feature of the Villager is its location. Parking in the downtown area of Bar Harbour is at a premium and if you stay at the Villager you can walk to most downtown area facilities all of their inherent charm.

Review 48:It can be difficult to park outside of room as this is a two storey motel. It wasn't a problem, but unusual for a motel. Heated swimming pool wasn't very warm!

Review 49:The location is excellent - in the centre of Bar Harbor close to shops and restaurants, but very quiet, and a short drive from the entrance to Acadia National Park. Room was large, clean and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast but the friend I was staying with said it was very good. I particularly liked the free cookies when we arrived late at night!

Review 50:Nothing

Review 51:The location was excellent and not needing to use the car a big bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. I would like to stay there again.

Review 52:Lots of noise early in the morning. Traffic and garbage trucks.

Review 53:Staff was good. The room was comfortable and clean. It was easy to get around town and to area sites.

Review 54:I didn't like being woken up every morning at 5 or 6 a.m. by the back up alarm of some commercial vehicle at a nearby business

Review 55:It was a comfortable older motel with easy access to all local activities

Review 56:Lack of lighting by which to do makeup and hair seated. Updated in-room coffee would be a plus.

Review 57:It was within easy walking distance to everything. It has been updated which was a very pleasant surprise. Breakfast offered a variety of standard but adequate offerings.

Review 58:The Parking was a problem. Unless you had a parking spot by 5:30 or 6:00 pm you had to wait for someone to leave or park in an area that was not well lit.

Review 59:Clean, quiet, convenient. Very nice staff. Very good value. It was great to be able to stay right in town.

Review 60:Parking lot was pretty tight and was usually full, which meant we did not get a spot near our room. People would park along pool area which was directly in back of the main parking spots. This made it even tighter when backing out our SUV. If you have a sub compact you would be OK!

Review 61:Location was perfect for us. We could walk anywhere in Bar Harbor. Close to restaurants and shopping and only a couple of minutes walking from the harbor! Never heard any noise from traffic.

Review 62:Breakfast could have offered a little more food.

Review 63:A nice complimentary breakfast, perfect location, and great service from the front desk! I would stay here again.

Review 64:Nothing that any of us can think of but we did not see a toilet by the pool.

Review 65:It is walking distance to the town center. There's a Boar's Head product fast food joint across the street. Their meat & cheese products etc. are from Holland Michigan , I summer in Holland MI...

Review 66:Could be difficult to find parking if you came in a little late. Breakfast room was a little small.

Review 67:Centrally located in downtown bar harbor, walking distance from shops and restaurants. Great service from nick - very friendly and cheerful. Rooms looked new and were very comfortable, refreshments in the office were a plus!

Review 68:The only bad thing I can say is that the compliment breakfast was not good. Not to worry, there are plenty of great places to eat within walking distance

Review 69:We were traveling with kids, young adults and seniors. The hotel was really nice. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure was great for showering. I must say that the location was spot on. Walked everywhere on Main Street. Close to restaurants and sidewalk shopping. Would stay there anytime.

Review 70:I could not get good access to the internet. The breakfast coffee tasted like water.

Review 71:Location was excellent. It was a five minute walk to excellent restaurants and shops.

Review 72:Nothing a great motel.However i would request a pool side room.

Review 73:Location, location, great beds to sleep on, very quiet, very clean, very helpful staff walking steps to shops, restaurants, bars, buses to Acadia National Park.If you are looking for a low cost hotel in the heart of Bar Harbor on the Main street than this is a 5 star motel, without major amenities.

Review 74:Not an actual dislike, more of a surprise. Rooms are small and space is limited. However as work requires much travel am comparing this with newer business friendly hotels.

Review 75:Location (convenient to the village green, restaurants and shops), ease of access to Acadia national Park.

Review 76:The shower was too small. The serving station for the continental breakfast was way too crowded. Not nearly enough parking spaces for the number of rooms they have.

Review 77:The location was excellent - right down town. The property is well maintained.

Review 78:The complimentary breakfast is in a separate building, which could be inconvenient, especially in bad weather. It was fairly typical of such breakfasts, definitely adequate.

Review 79:I loved being able to walk to so many of the restaurants and other places in town. In high season, traffic is congested and parking is limited, so this was a major advantage. The room was adequate. Coffee & tea were available in the reception area while office was open (it closes overnight).

Review 80:If you are in Bar Harbor to conduct business and are in need of work space, look elsewhere. There are no desk, microwave or desk lamp.

Review 81:The location is as close to perfect as you could want in a vacation hotel-near shops, restaurants, free busses to Acadia and the Village Green. The room was clean and, considering how it was close to everything, relatively quiet.

Review 82:On the downside, the wifi was so weak that we couldn't use it and the breakfast leaves a lot to wish for. They didn't even have forks in the breakfast room.

Review 83:We definitely liked the cleanliness of the room, the fridge and the location which comes with parking spots.

Review 84:Not much. It would be great if there is a little more choice on breakfast items.

Review 85:Location - right on Main Street; Breakfast - not too fancy but sufficient; Stuff - very friendly.

Review 86:The room didn't have enough plugs by the night table to plug in Al our electronics. With that being said, the front desk lent us an extension cord to solve that issue.

Review 87:The staff was friendly. They left rags out by our motorcycle every morning to wipe it down. The continental breakfast was well organized and the food options were plentiful. I would definitely stay there again. It was smack dab in the middle of everything! We have a great time.

Review 88:Air conditioner leaked into room. Bathroom is miniscule, but everything worked.

Review 89:Clean, comfortable, SO near to dowbtown you can wald from the pier to the hotel in 15minutes!

Review 90:Difficult to turn on faucet in shower.

Review 91:Locality

Review 92:Easy to find, central location. Spacious rooms.

Review 93:breakfast room too crowded

Review 94:location

Review 95:I recommend this great location.

Review 96:Breakfast limited but ok

Review 97:Great location, basic but clean

Review 98:Great location.

Review 99:Can't think of a thing

Review 100:Location Value

Review 101:Breakfast did not have much to offer.

Review 102:Location was excellent.

Review 103:No privacy. 1st floor window visable to everyone. Could not open curtain.

Review 104:Location to town .

Review 105:Some street traffic noise in early am

Review 106:Location right in town

Review 107:Location right on Main Street.

Review 108:Not a good value, pool was closed. Breakfast was mediocre at best, and the price was higher after arriving and comparing.

Review 109:Location.

Review 110:Fantastic location, easy parking, very convenient.

Review 111:the breakfast was just OK.

Review 112:It was easy to walk to downtown and restaurants.

Review 113:Extremely convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and many restaurants

Review 114:The location is excellent, the wifi is very strong.

Review 115:the staff was fantastic the little extras they provide was great we loved this place

Review 116:The beds were super comfortable and the location + parking were great!

Review 117:close to everything

Review 118:Breakfast was too congested. Good quality food but too small a space as it was pretty busy throughout the morning.

Review 119:Location at heart of Bar Harbor.

Review 120:location in town, pool

Review 121:Easy walking distance, great to just park the car and leave it there!

Review 122:Price.

Review 123:Location and parking!

Review 124:Small beds

Review 125:Excellent location

Review 126:the nearness to the national park, the place at the center of the town (lot of restaurants, cafés, bars around)

Review 127:The pool was too cold.

Review 128:The location was perfect. The staff was really nice! We had a lovely time while we stayed there!

Review 129:Breakfast could have been a little bit better.

Review 130:The room was clean, big, and comfortable!
