Reviews for The Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa
Review 1:One of us got very sick the day we got there they didn't give us the option of a refund for the last night even though it was two nights notice.
Review 2:The location was walking distance from restaurants and shops. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. generous with towels. The lobby and kids-club (cubs room) is nice and spa is lovely and clean.
Review 3:Room service did not clean my room the first day but was cleaning every other room around mine as new tenants were checking in. I was not happy as we had paid a lot of money that weekend.
Review 4:The bed was very comfortable and the lobby was nice.
Review 5:I booked my room with a pre-designated arrival time 5pm. When I arrived, I was td it would be a few minutes for my room. After an hour I asked about my room but earned I was not put I the queue. So upsetting after traveling by car all day.
Review 6:Location was great. Facility was nice.
Review 7:The worst thing about this hotel is the front desk staff members mostly the late night shift guy "Michael". So he was the worst thing I experienced in the hotel, but the cleaning staff were amazing and very polite.
Review 8:The location is great also the room was nice.
Review 9:Did not like resort fee! Did not use anything it applied to. Amenities should be included in price of room. Very frustrating! Did not use gym because it wasn't a fitness center as suggested. There was nothing there
Review 10:Love the fireplace, heated floors and toilet. The kitchenette was perfect and the location was very convenient.
Review 11:Both the sauna and the steam room were not very warm when we visited in the morning. We gave it an hour and it never heated up properly. The rooms are not the most modern, but still very comfortable. Restaurants and the bar close at 9!
Review 12:Nice atmosphere, with a fireplace in the lobby. The room was spacious and comfortable. Good location for Yosemite coming from the East. Staff were lovely.
Review 13:The TV was hanging over a staircase. To view it I had to look over a handrail of the stairs. There was a party at the restaurant in the parking lot until 2:00am. Im normally the guy at that party so i cant complain, but, id rather have slept.
Review 14:the staff was super friendly and helpful. Room was pretty nice. Close proximity to shops, restaurants. Great facilities.
Review 15:What a wonderful place. We where lucky enough to get upgraded to a suite which was just amazing. We enjoyed a glass of wine in front of the fire after a long drive. The hotel is in an excellent position in town. Can not fault it just wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 16:We didn't appreciate at all having been booked off for a 20% tip from our credit card when we already left a 15% tip in cash with the check. Not a nice surprise when checking the credit card statement!!
Review 17:The pictures are very misleading, there are no photographs of the room we were placed in (tired non updated room, without air con, view of a corrugated building). This made the whole stay very disappointing as this was the hotel we were looking forward to most for a short relax before another long day travelling from San francisco to Vegas. I rang the front desk and they said we could not move rooms but he refunded the resort fee and discounted the room rate to $99 rather than $139 we originally payed. The room the mouldy around the window frames leaving a strong smell of damp, bathroom tired, sweltering hot without air con and no electrical sockets. We were even seriously considering driving on to another town to stay somewhere else - wish we had.
Review 18:The village seemed nice and pretty, didn't eat at the resort walked a few minutes down the road which has 3-4 other restaurants.
Review 19:Maybe it is a little far out but the drive through Yosemite was worth it. With a stop for lunch we left San Francisco at 10 am and arrived at the resort about 5 am after numerous stops in the park.
Review 20:The location very scenic, the staff were great the facilities in the resort and the town were very good. I would recommend this resort to anyone.
Review 21:No lift, and no assistance to upper floors with luggage. Reception staff could do with a course in customer relations. Not helpful at all.
Review 22:Comfortable rooms.
Review 23:- Small old rooms, nothing like in the pictures - The charge resort tax, but offer no resort fascilities. - No breakfast possible - No air conditioning
Review 24:-Only the location
Review 25:Very basic facilities if you are expecting a spa you will be disappointed pool tiny jacuzzi dirty house restaurant very poor better places round the corner. Beware the "resort" tax added to your bill each night puts the price up. Looks good from the pictures but does not live up to expectations
Review 26:Free coffee in the hotel lobby
Review 27:The facilities weren't as good as advertised....the steam room wasn't in operation when we went. We were told by a member of staff that we would have to wait 45 minutes for the sauna to heat up if we wanted to go in as it wasn't switched on. Not really good enough for a resort that advertises as a "Spa resort"
Review 28:Nice bar, nice big room. Relaxed atmosphere.
Review 29:Very unremarkable room, motel-like. Hallways pretty rundown, carpet stains. A tour bus pulled up outside at 7:30AM, beeping loudly. The window was open because no air conditioning (el. 8000 ft).
Review 30:The bed was very comfortable.
Review 31:The first impression of the room is that it is old and gloomy. The worn-out carpet in the room and corridors are badly stained. It is just an upgraded Motel 6 charging a resort fee. Since Sierra Nevada had deducted $186.96 from my credit card on 7-20-2015, I expected to pay the balance of $179.96 at check-out. As I suspected, at check-out, the check-out price was higher than the booking price. After much argument on the agreed booking price, I asked the receptionist to phone Booking.com to verify the agreed price. He finally relented when I told him I will report to the Better Business Bureau.
Review 32:Location is opposite the only supermarket in Mammoth Lakes, Vons
Review 33:You're charged a resort fee to use the facilities yet the pool doesn't open til 1000 so you have to rush. The pool was really cold too and the bubbles weren't working in the hot tub.
Review 34:Lovely location and feel to the hotel.
Review 35:My only complaint was that the wifi signal was very weak resulting in our connection being very slow or dropped.
Review 36:We loved our room - it was very warm and cozy - very charming. The room had a small kitchen with a fireplace which gave it a nice homey feel. The bed was incredibly comfortable too.
Review 37:The dog on the website has actually passed away so we had some disappointed children!
Review 38:The facilities were excellent for families and staff were friendly.
Review 39:Rafters for Breakfast was quite slow. Food was excellent, but the service was not that attentive.
Review 40:Excellent room. Loved the two soft leather chairs in the room. Nice bath and shower facilities.
Review 41:We arrived early and attempted to check in. Desk staff indicated no rooms were ready and would put us on wait list. No call. We came back 2.5 hours later and still no room. Desk staff said readiness of rooms is a continual problem. Room was only cursorily cleaned, and smoke detector kept going off. Night clerk of little help. No batteries on hand, couldn't get it disconnected. A sleepless night and no real apology or any kind of consolation for the hassle. Also hot tub was not working the entire stay, wireless was worthless and A/C was not great. Wouldn't come back.
Review 42:Convenient location. Could walk to restaurants and shopping.
Review 43:Room had a very musty smell and had no AC to air it out. Fortunately the day was cool & overcast so room cooled quickly when window was opened.
Review 44:Beds were comfortable.
Review 45:So the first impression is good, however, the rooms are disappointing and need personalizing and refreshing. Old fashionned but not in the positive sense. But worst of all is that there is no lift and no bell service. 3 flights of stars with heavy suitcases is not acceptable. Check-in is late not before 4 p.m.
Review 46:The hotel lobby is welcoming and very plesant with a lit gas fireplace and free coffee. The receptionist kindly upgraded us. Thank goodness.
Review 47:With a 4.00PM check in, and a 11.00AM check out, to be asked to pay at extra $25 resort, and spa fee is a bit much. How can you for one night stay find the time to use the facilities. Secondly, we had a tour buses directly under our window, with revving engines and baggage, and passengers being loaded at 6.00AM to 8.00AM. Surely the tour bus passengers could have been housed in the rooms we were in, they were the ones that had to get up at 6.00AM, along with other guest, sleep was impossible.
Review 48:Location was good, staff were pleasant, but not overly concerned.
Review 49:Lack of access to wifi, trash in the hallway, no additional towels in the room for pool (only had 2 towels), lack of parking, only a few clear channels on TV, and lack of professionalism from front desk agent, Mike.
Review 50:The room, comfortability of bed, location, lobby area and the spa facilities. Never got to use them though.
Review 51:Very slow Wifi, using the internet was most of the time not possible. No breakfast was included. The price for the room is far too high.
Review 52:Pleasant building, quiet room, we had an upgrade to a larger room for free. Nice lobby to sit and enjoy the warmth of the fire.
Review 53:WiFi kept going in and out
Review 54:They upgraded us for no charge.the upgrade had a beautiful fore place with a bathtub and double head shower. Everything seemed to be brand new! We were extremely pleased with Sierra Nevada Lodge and will be back!
Review 55:Pictures are deceiving, hotel room much smaller than pictured also says "breakfast" in Booking but no breakfast served. Response requested by email is extremely slow. Shower head too high so squirts in face and water goes out on floor. No extra toilet paper or tissue if run out. Tiny trash can; request another and never got.
Review 56:Beds are comfortable. Room is clean.
Review 57:The staff was friendly and helpful, has a pool, hot tub, spa and laundry facilities. Our room was spacious, the bathroom was great and we had a kitchen in the room as well.
Review 58:not enough sound blocking - I could hear everything going on in the halls and upstairs. Not sure what you can fix about that, as it's probably the way the building was constructed. Overall, it was very nice!
Review 59:Very friendly staff, very pet friendly (LOTS of dogs staying), cute comfy rooms with nice amenities (deep bathtub and fireplace, leather chairs, wonderful mattress! Best of all - when my reservation didn't go through to the hotel (even though the website sent me a confirmation), they made sure I had the room I wanted. Well done!
Review 60:It was hot and they had no ac. It is only an old redone hotel. Not aResort or Spa. What a joke! Terribly overpriced and misrepresented.Don't even make the mistake we did by trying out their restrauanteither!!!!
Review 61:That I was only there 1 night.
Review 62:The fireplace didn't work (and that's one of the reasons we booked that room) and the bed was so terrible that we both tossed and turned all night and couldn't stand up straight the next morning.
Review 63:It was right in town, which was convenient.
Review 64:THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING, THE ROOM WAS SMELLY, CARPETS WERE FILTHY, WE STRUGGLED TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND CHEST OF DRAWERS, STAFF VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.UNDERSTAND THERE ARE REFURBISHED ROOMS THERE SO WOULD SUGGEST IF GOING YOU ASK FOR ONE, NONE WERE AVAILABLE FOR US!!
Review 65:WE LIKED THE DAY WE WERE LEAVING.
Review 66:Room smelled. No one slept well. Bathroom was a cave from the 70s. Wifi was shared by everyone and therefore so slow it was unusable. 4g much faster.
Review 67:Lobby was cool. Pool table.
Review 68:The room was excellent. Quiet and comfortable. The mini-golf was a blast. My wife of 30 years wanted to play hid and seek in the hotel hallways, they are a labyrinth of stairs and passage ways.
Review 69:Room was a little bit on the warm side and would have benefitted from better air con, otherwise perfect.
Review 70:lots to do in and around the hotel. Ideal for one or two night stay. Friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere. Good food at restaurant next door.
Review 71:Wasn't a fan of the "resort fee" since we didn't use any of the amenities. The bed wasn't bad, but could have been a little more comfortable.
Review 72:Location, clean room, nice restroom/shower, air conditioner, friendly staff, close parking.
Review 73:Room was a little small but nice. Loved the newly renovated bathroom.
Review 74:We were upgraded to a newer room without asking and we were able check in early. The location was close to the mist beautiful lakes. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 75:Room was lovely and comfortable! The heated floor in the bathroom was luxurious and other amenities were wonderful. Charming old ski lodge decor definitely appreciated
Review 76:nothing....
Review 77:A nice hotel in a quite small town near Yosemite national park. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast at Rafters next door are absolutely delicious. A perfect place to stay for a leisure trip to Yosemite and Mammoth lake!
Review 78:We were trying to get to yosemite and the pass was closed for the winter. We called ahead and asked reception how far yosemite was. The guy said the entrance was 30 minutes away. He did not say the pass was closed. When we got up Saturday morning a lady at reception said yosemite was 9 hours away as the pass is closed for winter. She said everyone at mammoth knows that. We complained and told her about the call with her colleague. The only reason we booked the hotel was because it was close to yosemite. Mammoth is beautiful but we ended up driving the 7.5 hours to yosemite, which was completely worth it.
Review 79:Go for the suite with the fireplace. It is very nice and quite a big room. Very clean and nice bathtub plus separate shower. Comfy bed.
Review 80:I loved the lobby area . There's a bar & a pool table. It's a relaxing atmosphere . And their Rafters restaurant , every night they have activities to do, kareoke, bingo ......,
Review 81:TV reception, and gym equipment worn out, outdoor spa tile falling out and no pressure on the jets, I went to another hotel to use their jacuzzi after skiing
Review 82:Location , lobby bar, spa, rafters Resturant. Room
Review 83:The spa jets were not working consistently and the water could have been hotter. However, that definitely didn't ruin my stay or my opinion of the resort. That's an easy fix for them.
Review 84:Upon check in, we were immediately upgraded to the King size suite. What a fabulous treat.!
Review 85:no breakfast, the rooms are dated (bathroom is pretty) the location is far from the main part of mammoth!
Review 86:the loby is really cool and the spa is beautiful, and the location is near some restaurants!
Review 87:The bathroom is way tiny and dated. The room we stayed is more like a motel, definitely not a 4 stars nor a resort.
Review 88:Location is not bad. Lots of restaurants near by.
Review 89:Musty smell in the halls. Slow wifi connection. Noise...especially late at night.
Review 90:The firepit. It was nice to have free chair massages and champagne near the firepit on Saturday night. There was hot coffee, cider, tea and cocoa in the lobby 24/7. Rooms and facilities were nice. Staff was very helpful. The shuttle to the mountain was great!
Review 91:I wish there were more windows in the room!
Review 92:They upgraded our room to what I believe was the nicest room there so our stay was absolutely wonderful. The fireplace made it so cozy and great mountain view. Heated floors and toilet seat in bathroom. Free shuttle to the mountain every day and fun little places to eat and drink close by!
Review 93:Things get a little crazy over the holidays, but this is inexcusable:over 30 people signed up for the 9am shuttle to the Mammoth Ski Resort.By 9:30am no sign of the shuttle. Finally someone asked the front desk. The answer: oh the shuttle had to go to the airport to pick up some vip.In other words, we value our vip guest so much that we forget about allour other non-VIP guests.
Review 94:Friendly staff, nice beds, convenient location
Review 95:Walls are a bit thin and facility dated but well maintained but hardly a negative.
Review 96:The Cub club was a hit for both of our girls and us. It gave the girls (5 and 12) a place to hang out while affording Mom and Dad some quiet time for ourselves following a day on the slopes. The staff at the club were really great with a balance on keeping the girls entertained and also giving them space to do their own thing. the club is free but well worth the tip I left for keeping our girls and mom happy and sane! Having the on-site ski rental shop, Black Tie on site was also fantastic , great operation in their own right.
Review 97:There was no DVD player or wine/bottle opener in our kitchen.
Review 98:The room was very spacious and recently remodeled. A lot of good facilities- steam room, sauna, jacuzzi. The kitchen area worked out well for us too.
Review 99:The WiFi didn't really work or was patchy at best.
Review 100:The place looked nice and the reception was particularly nice. It's on the main road where you can find lots of good dinning options.
Review 101:Rooms need to be renovated. Bathroom is the only thing up to date. Carpet makes the room look dingy. Bed is old and uncomfortable, pillows bulky. Okay for one night..336.00 a night is very high for this place.i would pay 130.00
Review 102:Right in the center of mammoth. Walk to locations easily. Great staff
Review 103:Hotel long corridor no breakfast offered at hotel. large fire place in lobby not working??? Minus temp outside. internet not stable and slow. expensive affiliated restaurant
Review 104:Cozyness of decor Location
Review 105:Staff were not logical and ignorant. Service was very bad. They did not have our reservation, but when we proved to them we had one they said they will call us when the room was ready - They did not call and we finally got our room at 8PM. They called and wanted us to check out a day earlier but after we proved that we paid for the day their attitude was that they were doing us a favor and allowing to stay one more night. They could not understand that we already paid for it and it was our right to be there and did not need any favors.
Review 106:Location was close to restaurants and convenient. Also they had a ski rental shop inside the hotel and that was convenient.
Review 107:Staff was not at all knowledgeable about the hotel or restaurants around town. You should have some rooms that are animal free for people with allergies. Also, your staff doesn't seem to know what a "down free" room is and weren't able to handle that request.
Review 108:Rooms were nice. Staff friendly. Great cub club.
Review 109:We had an awesome experience as soon as we walked in. Rhonda was very friendly, informative, and accommodating, and the entire facilities were clean, inviting, and comfortable. Everything seemed very well-kept & we would definitely stay there again. We also loved that it was less than 10 minutes to the mountain to go snowboarding, which was the primary reason for our trip. This was a wonderful, homey, & relaxing place to return to after a long day snowboarding.
Review 110:No conditioner, they use Shamp/Cond combo and it was terrible. Shower not warm enough. $29.00 resort fee (for what?).
Review 111:Friendly staff, loved being able to rent skiing equipment on site. Room comfortable. Lodge area small but cozy.
Review 112:Not all taxes and fees listed on Booking.com so cost more than quoted.
Review 113:Cozy, on-site ski/snowboard rentals, free steam room, free tea, coffee, a fire and games in the lobby.
Review 114:Stayed once last year in a chalet. They billed me an extra day and had to make repeated calls/emails to get refunded. Was also promised an extra refund because shower curtain had extensive mildew and wifi kept cutting out; had to make repeated calls and emails for this. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and stay again this year, but won't do it again. Staff was so difficult when I asked for a toothbrush; made a huge deal of coming up to deliver it and they didn't have toothpaste. When I asked to be auto checked out at 12, front desk receptionist had to be prompted to take my room number/name-if I didn't remind her, I probably would have gotten charged an extra day. I stayed at the Westin the second night for just ten dollars more and WHAT a difference. So many more amenities, pleasant staff, and valet parking included in the resort fee. Plus, much better room with fireplace and much better view. Sierra Nevada bills itself as a resort but do not be fooled - it's more like a motel or lodge.
Review 115:Quiet rooms, have all conveniences you could need, located right in town. Upgraded showers are nice.
Review 116:A little too priy during the Thanksgiving weekend
Review 117:Cleaness, friendly staff, bar tender. Free shuttle to the ski lift. Easy to get to restaurants and super market.
Review 118:The resort fee is compulsory. Being optional it would have been tailored to customers who did not make use of anything but the room.
Review 119:Great and well-decorated resort, large and comfortable rooms, in a very beautiful location. Highly recommended.
Review 120:Nothing. Book this hotel!! This was my second visit, and I will book it again!!
Review 121:we were upgraded to a beautiful suite. Awesome! The staff was extremely congenial and polite. The lobby fireplace is amazing, and the desk staff turned it on in the middle of the night for my dog and I when I couldn't sleep one night. Wonderful experiences all around!!
Review 122:We travelled in mid October and booked the day before arriving, having been told Mammoth was busy. This was wholly untrue and the Lodge was easily found, partially occupied and the room they gave us was more of a mini-suite. For the price it was an utter bargain, the staff were very natural and helpful, and the open fire in the room was very welcome even though it wasn't that cold. I'd go back without hesitation.
Review 123:Ungraded to a fireplace room Was beautiful and cosy the red lantern and tavern restaurants were great! very friendly helpful staff We wished we stayed longer than one night
Review 124:Expensive stay but on par for a 3 star in Mammoth Lakes. Older facility, very rustic in decor and in use by several large European tour groups (busses).. Noisy at night due to the adjoining restaurant and bar
Review 125:Full laundry facilities, gym, and discounts in the adjoining restaurant when staying at SNRS. Liked the refrigerator and microwave which were available.
Review 126:The $20 resort fee and photos on line depict more of a resort - it's a motel with a nice lobby. Too expensive and misleading. They should at least include a free breakfast for the $$$ they charge.
Review 127:TV too high in comparison to where the chairs were-ok if viewing from bed Wine bottle opener non-functional and they never replaced it.
Review 128:Heated Tile floors in the bathroom Heated/lighted Toilet Comfy bed Comfy chairs Kitchenette Fireplace
Review 129:Sofa bed mattress was uncomfortable (too thin) - and inferior to all others I slept on during my 2 week visit to us. Bar facility is average - not cosy or a place to spend long
Review 130:Self catering appartment
Review 131:The resort tax!!! Why is this not added to the price! $80 on top of the price is just ridiculous.
Review 132:Location was ideal. Pool area was excellent. The big open fire was fantastic.
Review 133:Taxes and tourist burough fees are a bit much, wherever you go in Mammoth.
Review 134:Staff was awesome, especially Abigail at the front desk. She was friendly and upgraded our room and provided 2 complimentary drink tickets for the bar.
Review 135:I wasn't able to share it with my wife.
Review 136:I was pleasantly surprised with impressive outdoorsy mountain cabin appeal. It was spotless and comfortably cozy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit again soon.
Review 137:The internet was a bit patchy. Room price was more than we expected because of taxes & resort fee.
Review 138:Super friendly & helpful staff. Free upgrade. Good pool, hot tub & spa. Lamb at the restaurant was lovely. Nice clean room & good shower.
Review 139:value for money comparing to locations closer to Yosemite valley. Nice restaurant and Bar , so you don't need to go out if it's too cold Comfortable beds, nice shower.
