Reviews for Wonder View Inn
Review 1:Restaurant was closed, checking in is confusing. Given wrong keys at check in had to go all the way back to the desk. Price was outrageous for what we got-and we should have been warned that we would not be able to dine there.
Review 2:View of filthy pool. No reception desk. Had to drive to another hotel to register on a dark rainy night. Walls paper thin. Noisy and depressing property.
Review 3:Nothing!
Review 4:We loved the view. the luxury of the room. How they accomodated us when we requested a second floor room. We enjoyed the fire pit and the quiet surroundings. The price was good. It wasn't like your run of the mill hotel.
Review 5:All I can say is dirty dancing the kellerman resort came to mind the first day the bathroom smelt like cleaning products day two all I smelt was mold old and on defifinite need of updating the restaurant was great the first night but totally ignored the second night the staff socialized and ignored us
Review 6:It was easy to get to the harbor area
Review 7:Inconsiderate next door hotel neighbors. They had company well past midnight, and their guest took our assigned parking spot. Could not call the front desk since the phone in the room did not work.
Review 8:Close proximity to town; complimentary continental breakfast was average, but excellent coffee. room was outdated, but clean. Good housekeeping staff.
Review 9:Rooms outdated, not like it was advertised. Nice view is only from restaurant, which is overpriced.
Review 10:Close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Review 11:We keep coming back for the view. Comfortable and relaxing. Ample complimentary breakfast. More choice of fruit and eggs besides boiled would be nice though. Add a wafflemaker and the adjacent restaurant might get upset! The least expensive rooms low down the hill still have a pleasant view, smaller but otherwise OK. Cheapest rooms may lack flat screen TV.
Review 12:Our room was definitely in need of some renovations, such as an exhaust fan in the shower and new doors. The office was difficult to locate.
Review 13:Our room had a fantastic view from the balcony.
Review 14:We were a bit concerned about the property from previous reviews but were very pleased upon arrival. The staff were very friendly, the room and bathroom spacious. It was very clean and quiet. The location was superb and the grounds beautiful. Nothing but great words for the hotel and staff- thank you!
Review 15:View from deck blocked by bushes in room 32.
Review 16:Room was older but large, quiet and comfortable. All the staff were friendly. Restaurant was pricey but had delicious offerings.
Review 17:The place is getting a little tired and is in need of a paint job, but it didn't really affect our stay.
Review 18:Continental breakfast was plentiful and unexpected (wasn't listed on website I used). Helpful staff, well-equipped room.
Review 19:Going Home. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are simply Magical.
Review 20:Our room had a veranda overlooking the pool and the Bar Harbor in the distance. The rooms are spacious, clean comfortable and so are the bathrooms.
Review 21:Great location...beautiful views. Outdated but as clean as it could be. Mattresses sagged and were pretty hard and not comfortable. Staff was excellent. Restaurant was excellent.
Review 22:It's time to invest in repair and renovation of the property. I thing this has started as there was new carpet in the room.
Review 23:We enjoyed our stay the cleanliness.
Review 24:Updating wifi everyday
Review 25:It was clean , bed was comfortable, had coffee maker in room and continental breakfast was added surprise. Food at restaurant was very good. Free bus into village green.
Review 26:Short staffed for breakfast, front desk staff was friendly and courteous but unable to keep up with the demands of both the desk and the breakfast patrons.
Review 27:it was excellent we really enjoyed our stay the shuttle service was fantastic
Review 28:The wifi was almost non existent! We went to the looking glass for breakfast, if you like frozen hash browns and sausage ,eggs that are not cooked the way you asked for then that's the place for you!
Review 29:The view
Review 30:We called on our way up to see about getting the room for an extra night since we were coming up early. The desk person said she was very busy and asked if she could call us back. I said sure; telling her we were only an hour away. She returned the call 3 hrs. later. We had already taken a room elsewhere. Had we not already made the reservation, we would not have gone there.
Review 31:The deck where we could sit outside for breakfast was nice with a lovely view.
Review 32:Overall, the hotel is dated, but clean. And really you don't come to Bar Harbor to sit in a hotel so the lack of modern amenities was a non-issue for me. We stayed here 2 non-consecutive nights and there were minor issues with the rooms (e.g. toilet's pull chain was broken) but all in all the stya was good.
Review 33:Great location and staff. The views from rooms in the Upper Courtyard are great - I'd highly recommend requesting a room here for a first time stay in Bar Harbor. Though we didn't try the restaurant some industry people did say it was very good, so next time I will definitely be checking it out. Huge bonus is the free shuttle stop to take you to downtown and Acadia.
Review 34:Our toilet needed to be fixed. It took three days and several visits to the front desk. Big smiles do not fix a problem Plumbers do.
Review 35:Location, use of swimming pool at neighboring spa.
Review 36:This is an older motel that needs maintenance and updating.
Review 37:Staff was pleasant. We had a premium room with the vista view. Not all rooms have view of the bay or harbor.
Review 38:WiFi did not work too well. Email reception was erratic!
Review 39:Convenient access to free shuttle buses. It was also easy to walk into downtown Bar Harbor. Scenic view from our room was excellent!
Review 40:Bathroom was very old and dingy, mini tub (?) With shower (would be nice to have a handheld sprayer. Bathroom extremely small, able to sit on toilet and rest your head on sink. The entrance doorto the room was ancient. They also didn't have assigned parking spots, I had to park in a totally different lot. I don't think I would recommend it.
Review 41:View, pillows and bed.
Review 42:Shower was hard to adjust for temperature, and had water saver nozzle so was not that comfortable.
Review 43:Room was roomy. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to the town.
Review 44:It was too far to town to walk and we didn't want to be stuck with a bus schedule. Parking in Bar Harbor and the national park were a nightmare.
Review 45:The view was great from our balcony on the upper building. The beds were really comfortable.
Review 46:Beautiful property. Great location. Very pet friendly! This is our second visit to Bar Harbor in 2 years with our dog. I was very pleased to find several visitors with dogs and the welcoming staff. This made our visit enjoyable and our dog's visit. The property is very large lots of places to walk the dog. The room was large, and clean with a beautiful view of Bar Island and the ocean. We were able to watch 4th of July fireworks from the balcony. Breakfast was okay for a free breakfast no complaints. Downtown is a short ride or comfortable walk. Most restaurants welcome dogs. : ) We will definitely return.
Review 47:The room was very dated sorely lacked general upkeep. The furnishings appeared clean. There was paint peeling off the back of the door to the bathroom. There was a small hole in the ceiling. It simply was not well maintained.
Review 48:The location was perfect from downtown Bar Harbor, within walking distance. The deck overlooked a beautiful courtyard. The room was very clean.
Review 49:The room was filled with smell, possibly mold in the closet (very strong smell in the closet) or some type of cleanser used to clean the room. It was so strong that I could not sleep the first night until I blew the air conditioning hard for several days.
Review 50:Good location. The wi-fi is quick and stable.
Review 51:I had a lot of trouble with the Wifi which may have been my phone and iPad. The staff at the office though tried very hard to get and keep me connected... I appreciated that.
Review 52:This was a perfect place for my grand daughter and I. Our room was spotless and the view was fabulous. Some reviews said the inn was old, but we found this perfect for the area and I thought the upkeep was excellent box it was so comfortable for us.
Review 53:It might be more truthful for the Inn to describe the views from the rooms rather than from the restaurant. There are not ocean views from the rooms at the inn.
Review 54:The people were so helpful. The room was extremely clean and the location close to Acadia National Park entrance.
Review 55:Outdoor pool closed our entire visit for maintenance. Indoor pool at another inn nearby. Outdated decor circa 1970s. More like a motel than an inn. Continental breakfast, hardly, more like a stop at a convince store. Staff courteous and friendly.
Review 56:Close to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor.
Review 57:The hotel is very old and shabby. The exterior lights were out in our area which made it look dark and desolate. The bed was uncomfortable and the plumbing is definitely old! Don't bother with the restaurant, even with the view.
Review 58:The location is great but....
Review 59:Very average breakfast arrangement. Crammed place with few options
Review 60:Value for money. Awesome view, great location. Walking distance from bike shops, restaurants and the beach.
Review 61:Shower didn't drain well, but we had great water pressure and tons of hot water.
Review 62:Location was great. Not in town, but definitely walkable. Staff very capable, well informed and friendly. Room very clean and the bed was comfy. No complaints from us.
Review 63:Outdated, needs a makeover. Bathroom was small and the bed was bouncy. The pool was not open.
Review 64:The staff was very pleasant and the view was lovely. The room was large.
Review 65:Our room adjoined the lobby. Had a bench underneath a washroom window for our room. People would sit there and talk, and were very disruptive for our sleep on two nights. Either remove the bench or put up a sign telling people not to talk in sleeping hours.
Review 66:Location, friendly staff, and homey feel with grassy lawns, big trees etc. Environment felt really nice. We purposely avoid big chains with modern but sterile feeling.
Review 67:Location and the View and the amenities. Very nice breakfast and access to Blue Nose facilities a BIG plus. Looking Glass Restaurant is a MUST. Best View in Bar Harbor. Half mile walk to Main Street downtown.
Review 68:The room is a little dated, but we had everything we needed and it didn't cost us an arm and a leg.
Review 69:Great location to downtown Bar Harbor and the park.
Review 70:there was no record of our reservation after a 5 hour drive. then, after a 30 min wait in reception, i was assigned a room that someone already occupied. our (second) new room did not have queen beds but two double beds. also, it was an adjoining room so our neighbors might as well have been in the room with us. forget about sleep when they came back to the room to have a small gathering at midnight. never again!
Review 71:location pianist
Review 72:Parking was a little tight in some spots
Review 73:Upon arriving I thought it was a little old fashioned, but it was quiet, comfortable and had an amazing shower!
Review 74:Mildew on the shower walls. No exhaust fan, only a small window to open, probably causing the mildew. Moisture damaged wall under the faucet smeared with caulking to try to make it waterproof. Should be repaired properly. Very rusty around sink drain. Very dirty baseboard in the bathroom. Is called Wonder View but there was no view.
Review 75:Close to town. Friendly staff.
Review 76:I was disappointed with the view. The only really good view of the bay on the property is from the Looking Glass Restaurant.
Review 77:The location was the best feature of this motel. The rooms are dated but kept clean and the bed was comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and courteous.
Review 78:Rooms looked a little "tired". Bathroom area particularly in need of complete refurbishment
Review 79:Reception and ancillary staff were very good and cheerful!
Review 80:the only downside was the $20 fee for a roll in bed for my children to sleep on, we had no idea of this fee until we got the bill
Review 81:Enjoyed our one night stay there, it was clean and only a 5 minute drive to downtown
Review 82:There were some kind of creatures in the ceiling, which woke us up in the middle of the night. The decks outside of the room felt very flimsy and didn't feel like they were well supported. Room was outdated. There were grounds people outside at 7am working on a Sunday morning, which also woke us up. We also weren't told about the free breakfast until we noticed it after we checked out. Overall, we weren't impressed with the quality of the room for the price we paid.
Review 83:We enjoyed the bathroom. It was extremely clean and spacious. The location was also extremely close to Bar Harbor, about a minute to drive, 10-15 minutes walking distance.
Review 84:The restaurant was so popular that it was hard to get a window seat, but don't fear as all windows are large and the scenery spectacular. Service is slow but well worth the wait.
Review 85:This charming Inn is on the older side but very well loved and tended. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. You can not better the views from this location. The restaurant was lovely and the food fabulous!!
Review 86:Very tired and in need of an uplift - it had a 60s caravan site feel to it. All the widows had the paint peeling off and the bathroom was very dated.
Review 87:Close to bar harbor and National Park. A balcony with a view which was good but not great
Review 88:It is very dated and needs to be updated especially the bathroom. The window on the door leading to the deck did not close completely. Made the room a little chilly and also the window needs a shade to keep morning sun out.
Review 89:The breakfast was not great. We generally had breakfast in town.
Review 90:We paid additional for a view and it was worth it. Room was very comfortable with a nice sitting area and balcony. A little rustic feeling, but that fit with the Acadia experience. 10-15 min walk to town or there is a convenient shuttle. Would definitely stay there again. Also, the restaurant was very good.
Review 91:Fridge to small television old school. (Non flat screen). Furniture dated. Sat in chairs and they were very loose. Bathroom window cracked dusty bathroom vanity. Outside balcony plastic $3.00 chairs. Paint on door to balcony flacking off. Not worth the 180.00 a night place. I have stayed all over the world and have been In way better places then this for a lot cheaper. We made the best of it
Review 92:The view was very pretty bed was comfy close to main drag.
Review 93:no ocean view room trees and over growin brush five feet from deck. Rust all over bathroom, floor rotted next to tub. Paid $179 per night got no continental breakfast instead got a coupon for 50% off a over priced drink how cheap. Deco very out dated, paint peeling off door sorry not worth the $ more like $50 hotel
Review 94:pillows
Review 95:a very minor complaint, tippy tables in the breakfast room. This is the only thing that was not excellant.
Review 96:staff, view, breakfast, location, quiet, clean. Everything was better than expected from reviews we read before booking.
Review 97:Price was high, since we weren't familiar with area thought it would probably be comparable on way to motel noticed many vacancy signs, since there wasn't this "view" you could enjoy from your room and small deck balconies felt it was overpriced. Should have taken there basic room they had advertised on sign but not on booking.com
Review 98:Location, staff, breakfast, cleanliness
Review 99:No great chairs or couch to relax in if stuck in side in bad weather , at least in our room.
Review 100:The Staff was great, Kinda cottage like cozy Jen at the front desk took the time to tell us the nice places to go. and how to get there.
Review 101:This motel is really old and in need of several updates. The carpet in the room as seen better days. I could see dog hair in the carpet and we don't have a dog. The bedding, furniture is falling apart and is from the 80's at best. The bathroom only has a heat light for lighting and the sink and toilet were not working very well. I would not stay at this motel again.
Review 102:We liked the location only.
Review 103:We spent close to $300 a night and yet the breakfast experience was like dining at a Comfort Inn with paper plates and plastic silverware. Couldn't they at least provide some fresh blue berries from the region? The breakfast at Looking Glass was worse - two families left after waiting 30 minutes to be served water and menus.
Review 104:The views are amazing and the hotel has an excellent location.
Review 105:Rooms could use some updating but consmetics weren't a priority for me.
Review 106:Loved the location and the views were amazing. Thought the continental breakfast was excellent and well stocked. Nice to be able to walk to town but property is also on the free bus route which is nice.
Review 107:My room was quite dated with fixtures and colors that have not been available to decorators for decades.
Review 108:I awoke in my hilltop room to an amazing sunrise over the harbor. The hotel is conveniently located and the view was truly spectacular! The room was roomy enough for me but had a bit more furniture that necessary. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean.
Review 109:The only view is from the restraunt at the top of the hill. Every rooms view was blocked by overgrown tree's and brush. The pool area needs serious maintenance. Our room had mold on the ceiling and really needed a paint job and a new AC unit as it was terribly loud.
Review 110:Proximity to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Bathroom was clean.
Review 111:almost everything else. Bathroom was old and had no surface area to unpack personal toiletries. Every surface in the room was covered with hotel stuff. No place to put anything. breakfast room small, crowded, not convenient. Outside space very small. Restaurant staff slow, not crowded but waited to be served.
Review 112:viewsbed was comfortableShuttle bus very convenient and worked well.
Review 113:you cannot smoke anywhere on the facility and the clientele seem much older and quiter
Review 114:Very clean and smoke free. also a free bus service will take you to the shops & harbor area
Review 115:The room let in too much light early in the morning - if you want to sleep late
Review 116:It is well situated. Pleasant and helpful staff, Nice rooms. Great view. 5 minutes walk to the center of Bar Habor and close to Nature Park. Lovely pool.
Review 117:4th of July jacked up rates. Two twenty/night is out of control for this place. Has not been updated in 30 years. Tiny Bathroom. Balcony is haven for mosquitoes. Storm came in at night. Power went out in morning so no lights, tV, internet, coffee, breakfast, etc, etc, etc. Looked next door to see if they had power, yes they did.
Review 118:Nice Large Room. Full size fridge. Restaurant is a gem.
Review 119:The power was out over half the island and they had no backup generator ? On our Honeymoon we are told they can't help us and try to send us to Bangor , Maine 50 miles away . We were given a full refund but the cost of finding another hotel on 4th of July weekend at the last minute after giving us false hope and miss information all day only to tell us " Sorry about your bad luck" and send us packing. My wife and I are very grateful to the Sea Breeze motel 5 miles up the road for finding us a great room with a breath taking view.
Review 120:The view would have been nice had we gotten to use our room.
Review 121:We had no view at all at the Wonder view. The rooms were dated and the paint was chipped and peeling in a few places. Needed love for sure.
Review 122:This location is amazing. Close to everything Bar Harbor has to offer.
Review 123:Ran out ov syrup at 730 am. Breakfast goes until 1000. Need bagels. Cream cheese low fat milk otherwise good. Can eat outside on deck
Review 124:The view was wonderful. Nice little deck off your room to have coffee and gaze at french men's bay!
Review 125:The views were excellent.
Review 126:The bed was very uncomfortable. Needs replaced.
Review 127:View
Review 128:We had a room with a balcony and the veiw was outsatnding. large room with 2 beds and a seperate sitting area.
Review 129:Found you on booking.com had a great view of the ocean just as promised.
Review 130:Nice sized bath tub w/HOT water and a space heater! It was close to town w/a good view. Staff was very friendly with good info.
Review 131:the outside needs some work.painting needs to be done
Review 132:Price is high, but you are in Bar Harbor!
Review 133:very nice clean and spacious room. Nice view from our room, but not from all.
Review 134:Everything good.
Review 135:Beautiful view of Bar Harbor and the bay from our balcony. Great indoor pool and hot tub. Big room.
Review 136:Very pricey.
