Reviews for Shadow Mountain Resort & Club

Review 1:As all units are individually owned the upkeep of each room depends onthat unit's owner. My first issued room was a dump, old, and nasty. If I had to stay in it I would ave checked out, however I was moved to alovely room. That being said the first room should not have been in therental pool, there should be a standard set

Review 2:The location was great, the staff great, and once I got an acceptableroom, settled into a very pleasant stay

Review 3:It's a shame they don't have anywhere to eat and drink in the evening on the complex.

Review 4:Beautiful room and complex. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of parking. Views are amazing. Very relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the sunset. The Daily Grill nearby is a lovely restaurant with fantastic crab cakes and carrot cake bread and butter pudding!

Review 5:Overall, the complex and amenities need updating, Depending upon your rate and time of stay, it is a good value.

Review 6:The tennis staff was awesome. Front desk personnel helpful and friendly. Pool was big and refreshing, but quiet on a hot September day.

Review 7:It was out of season so some things were closed up. Also some things could do with updating - eg our air con at times could be quite noisy!

Review 8:The staff were helpful and the children had a great time there. It felt very relaxed and was a great location to either stay at the resort or go and explore.

Review 9:my room was givin to another person with The same last name by mistake. I was very upset because that room was perfect we called twice to make reservations to be where we were located. But they did upgrade us to a bigger room which was very nice. Just missed a few things like the BBQ grill we really wanted.

Review 10:The staff was wonderful! Fixed my issue fast! Made us comfortable when we had a bad room mix up.

Review 11:The shop and restaurant / bar were closed, but it was out of season. This was of little concern however, as palm desert had plenty to offer just on the doorstep

Review 12:Excellent value for money. We were on a California self drive and this property rated as THE one that we would return to if we revisit the area

Review 13:Noisy air conditioner. Very small TV that was difficult to watch even when seated a normal viewing distance away.

Review 14:Being in Palm Desert made them very central to the middle of the Coachella Valley and close to the activities we do. The place was neat and clean and the staff very friendly. Huge pool

Review 15:Missed having the restaurant open as it is closed on Tues. and Wed.

Review 16:Had one of the best rooms we have ever had at Shadow Mountain. A very updated studio right by the pool Best bed ever and fabulous décor.

Review 17:The pool and grounds are unprecedented - beautiful. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. So much to do onsite and we couldn't even fit it all in!

Review 18:Room was old and tired looking...beige on beige. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've TRIED to sleep on in years.

Review 19:Location was great. Well maintained pool and grounds

Review 20:The toilet didn't work when we arrived. We found a caterpillar in our bed! And some of the staff were not very kind. I was told there was a sofa bed and there wasn't one.

Review 21:Although the resort was in a good location, the unit we had could use some updating. We had a studio which I thought would be ok for a week. Bed linens were poor quality, the headboard was wobbly, and kitchen utensils were sparse. Tiny fridge with tiny freezer that wouldn't keep things frozen, since we like to eat in, instead of dining out all the time, it was disappointing. Gym door was locked and had to get key from reception every day. Renting BBQ ...never had to do that before at other resorts.

Review 22:Location was great...walking distance to El Paseo.

Review 23:Nothing!

Review 24:Location within walking distance of El Paseo, Top of the Court Cafe, spaciousness of the "room," peace and quiet - charm of the resort, size of the pool, ez parking....

Review 25:We traveled with my elderly parents and a large group of friends. We were spread out allover the resort. My parents were about a quarter mile from us. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and lunch and was up two fights of stairs so my parents could not dine at the property. There was no lounge or anyway to dine on property after 2 pm. Some of the rooms were nice and others had not been updated since the 70s, yet all were charged at the same price. Not a resort at all. simply a conglomeration of people's condos rented out. Very disappointing.

Review 26:These are privately owned condo type units and there were a couple of maintenance issues. Nothing major. This is an old property, so some units probably need updating. Our unit was updated and nicely decorated.

Review 27:The staff was very acccomadating.

Review 28:They put us in a room near the back of the resort that was terrible. Broken down "queen" bed w no headboard, curtains that didn't close, disgusting bathroom from the 50s. Everything old scratched and broken down. I called front desk and said the room was unacceptable and we were moved to a refurbished room near the front gate. Had to beg for wash clothes/towels everyday otherwise we got one towel and one washcloth. Woke up every morning to tennis players on courts that backed to rooms. No wifi.

Review 29:The location was great, near Paseo and once we complained and were upgraded to an acceptable room the ameneties were fine.

Review 30:No dislikes

Review 31:location was excellent. Very close to the shopping and restaurants. Overall very satisfying. Also the availability of tennis courts and pool facilities were great.

Review 32:The kitchen was a little dirty, and some of the dishes needed to be rewashed.

Review 33:The staff was very friendly. They upgraded our room to a large condo with a view-at no extra charge! The location was perfect! We had a wonderful celebration of our anniversary!

Review 34:The room was not as advertised. The resort is in need of updating and has maintenance issues.... for example the clock by the pool does not work.

Review 35:Very quiet and relaxing. Uncrowded. I like the location. The staff and housekeeping was great. I enjoyed my stay. I would stay again.

Review 36:Only about half of the light bulbs worked and when the last one in the very dark bathroom burned out I had to find a bulb. The front desk was very helpful and gave me a bulb on the spot.

Review 37:It's a very old hotel that has had a facelift. If you play tennis then it is even more desireable.

Review 38:The rooms were shabby and partially updated. They need a good overhaul. A relative stayed in a room with an old clunking AC unit that woke them up throughout the night.

Review 39:This hotel is has a great location within walking distance to the shops on El Paseo. The in-room kitchen was also useful for traveling with small children.

Review 40:Room: smelly, bedding and pillows very Uncomfortable, fridge door jams open, frying pan was past prime, overall Ambience depressing IMO ROOM 218 SHOULD BE GUTTED AND RENOVATED

Review 41:Wonderful staff Excellent tennis facilities and pool

Review 42:Some features could ge upgraded, such as the soda vending and ice machines placed unattractively in an open passageway.

Review 43:This is a historic club which has many amenities, such as a huge pool, but not a lot of glitz. It is a perfect place to relax. My room had all the amenities of a studio apartment, steps from the pool, for a very good price. The location, in a residential neighborhood a short walk from El Paseo, the stylish main street, is unequaled.

Review 44:Not one thing I didn't like about shadow mountain.

Review 45:The cleanliness of the resort was extraordinary. It was beautiful, quiet and had everything u could ask for.

Review 46:Rooms outdated, A/C not cold even at the lowest temperature setting, staff charged the wrong card which I was had specificly told them not to.

Review 47:Location, parking and pool.

Review 48:The WIFI is a little weak, but I didn't mind it, it made everyone disconnect and connect with one another better.

Review 49:Convenience, centrally located, large space and perfect accommodations, had everything for cooking, dining, swimming, my boys loved all the kid friendly pool things, variety of pool depths, gated privacy, all the amenities of home, great place.

Review 50:Golf course has to be one of the worst in the area.

Review 51:Great place to stay. Loved the room, pool, location, etc

Review 52:no drinking water closeby.

Review 53:Spacious, quiet, clean.

Review 54:The 2 bedroom Villa !

Review 55:The price was really reasonable, the rooms were spacious and clean and the location close to El Paseo was perfect.

Review 56:ALL STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. THE STAFF WENT OVER & BEYOND.. WE WHERE IN A LARGE GROUP OF 20 INCLUDING KIDS. WE FOUND OUR ANNUAL PALM SPRINGS PLACE.

Review 57:seasonal restaurant closed for breakfast solution

Review 58:the pool...the room and the staff

Review 59:We did not enjoy our stay , the door was open when we arrived. The bed looked as it was slept on. Room was hot , bed was hard

Review 60:The Tennis courts

Review 61:Dirty rag on kitchen counter. Noise from upstairs neighbors.

Review 62:Friendly reception. Spacious studio condo. Nice pool.

Review 63:King bed was a little uncomfortable but not bad

Review 64:Place was awesome property was very beautiful. Room was spacious and clean

Review 65:nothing

Review 66:pool

Review 67:Great place for young families. Plenty of room for everyone and you have a kitchen if the little ones are too tired to go out.

Review 68:wifi code did not work

Review 69:everything was excellent staff was very polite room was a very big and very up today absolutely love the showers

Review 70:other guests by the pool area

Review 71:Location

Review 72:The advertisements for this property was misleading. Restaurant is a bar grill beach hut, not a restaurant and it closes after lunch.

Review 73:The location, the mountain view, the pool and tennis.

Review 74:My cousin and I stayed here for Coachella. And I loved the feeling of being home with all the amenities and still felt like a vacation get away.

Review 75:Nothing

Review 76:Very nice. Excellent quality.

Review 77:Nothing..,.

Review 78:Everything

Review 79:None

Review 80:Large Pool -- Great tennis courts. Very quiet at night time.. Lots of good parking close tp our unit.

Review 81:Power out one full day. Room could be updated

Review 82:Location, pool.

Review 84:Friendly & accommodating staff, spacious grounds, clean & quiet.

Review 85:Older property

Review 86:Location Price Quiet

Review 87:Good pool. Quiet and safe.

Review 88:evrerything, staff, accomodations, view,

Review 89:Very homey

Review 90:There were ants all over the kitchen counter and it had an odd odor to the place

Review 91:Clean, friendly, private, location, scenery, restaurants.

Review 92:Our stove sparked while we cooked, but they let us go to the next room to cook.

Review 93:Location Room Pool Staff Balcony

Review 94:Our entire stay was awesome. The kids loved the pool and the room was so charming and very clean. We will definitely stay again.

Review 95:The size of the room and the location to the pool.

Review 96:The bed was awful!!! But we didn't say anything to the front desk!!! As we should have!!!

Review 97:Was very nice and quiet.. We enjoyed our stay...

Review 98:Stayed in an efficiency, a bit small and outdated, but ok for the money

Review 99:Nice close location, walking distance to shops and restaurants

Review 100:A/C is not cool enough

Review 101:I like both studio & 2 bed condo, kitchen was good

Review 102:Nothing to hold onto in shower

Review 103:For the time of year we visited, there should have been more than two towels and face cloths in the room.

Review 104:The resort was excellent overall. Since it was our first visit, perhaps a better explanation of the property and all amenities could have been given.

Review 105:Lobby is being re-done, getting woken up early to move my car for tree trimming...should have blocked the spaces off the day before

Review 106:Beautiful grounds, quiet surroundings, close to everything, great pool great condo. Will stay again... Thanks

Review 107:The place is perfect to spend a week or more... The weather is very warm, the pool is great.. even at night!! The rooms have kitchenette... We loved everything!

Review 108:Lobby under remodel w/ no notice. One of the large comforter pillows was missing ... the sham cover was on the couch....no biggee.

Review 109:Pool was awesome room was nice. only staff interacted w/ was check-in clerk and she was very nice and apologized for lobby condition

Review 110:The room was dated, no Wi-Fi, dead bug in the carpet (cricket), hundreds of tiny gnat-like flies appeared in the bathroom overnight (and then disappeared by morning), light bulb out in bedroom, TV remote control battery wasn't working and we had to swap the battery, toilet wouldn't flush (but they came and fixed it after we called). Just a general sense of old.

Review 111:I liked having a condo-style unit with a kitchen, living room, etc. It is perfect for a young family in need of amenities and space. Excellent location near posh area of Palm Desert. Our condo was also in a great spot right in front of the pool with easy access.

Review 112:We had a studio right above the pool great location. Beautiful grounds. The studio was nicely furnished, clean everything you would need. Awesome location in Palm Desert

Review 113:It doesn't have that glamorous hotel atmosphere for sure but it is a great place for a relaxed vacation.

Review 114:I was very worried when I drove up and wasn't sure it would be very nice but the room was super nice and I'm really picky! I guess they are privately owned so not sure how they all are but the one we got was excellent.

Review 115:What is there not to like?

Review 116:Room 117....I've stayed at shadow mountain for several years....favorite spot for my daughter and i...and now my grandchildren...I'm located near pool ..loved to hear sound of tennis balls....beautiful gorgeous grounds...near el paseo..staff helpful and friendly! I feel safe!

Review 117:There were tiny bugs all over the counter top. The ac unit clunked like it was falling down every time it went off, which basically kept us awake most of the night. Not even a bar of soap in the BR. Would have told them about it in the am when we went to leave but it was too early, no one at the desk till 0700.

Review 118:The unit was cute, bed comfortable. Nice view of the pool area

Review 119:I asked twice for an ice bucket with a lid but never received one

Review 120:I come for the pool which is perfect. I also like the kitchenette aspect of the room

Review 121:It was difficult to navigate around the property and it is an older property - the room had an odor.

Review 122:It was a large room with a king bed and a patio, refrigerator and microwave.

Review 123:Everything at hotel was great. No negatives.

Review 124:Loved everything about this place. Great location, nice pool, nice room, excellent double shower faucet. Very nice staff. Accommodating. Staying here when I come back next year.

Review 125:Wifi connection in our room was poor, but improved near the pool area.

Review 126:We stayed during the weekend of the Stagecoach festival. 4 nights total. While there were others staying at the hotel for the same reason, everyone was respectful enjoyed themselves responsibly. Great place to stay, will be back.

Review 127:When we arrived there was some ash on the sink of the bathroom which was a little offputting. Everything else, however, was in great condition. The sofa bed was super uncomfortable with springs poking into your back throughout the night. My suggestion would be to spring for a double bed room and not use the sofa bed!

Review 128:We loved the friendliness of the staff and their attentive behavior to our needs. We forgot to bring pool towels and they were more than willing to offer us extra bath towels to use. The pool was clean and full of lounge chairs and floaties. The Cafe staff made great bloody mary's and it was an overall enjoyable experience!

Review 129:The doors leading to the "backyard" are basically just big windows that close tightly. You have privacy but it still feels kinda weird knowing your back doors open up to the rest of the resort and not to a private patio. The girls at the front seemed a bit disingenuous with their smiles and it felt like they didn't want to be there. They did their jobs though, so I guess that's what matters. No need to be begrudging about it though, ladies!

Review 130:Really liked the studio room, the shower was great and felt so good after getting dusty at Coachella. The fridge and freezer came in really handy and the bed was comfortable. Pool was nice and big.
