Reviews for Linden Row Inn
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Loved the character of the old building, size of the room, quality of the free breakfast, friendliness of the staff, location close to my meeting venue, and value for the area.
Review 3:Excellent location. Friendly stuff. Free parking on weekends. Good and free breakfast. Very good old building, constructed in XVIII century. Old furniture, camines in the room and in the bathroom looks excellent.
Review 4:Breakfast lacked any kind of protein -- just cereals, waffles and pastries.
Review 5:Staff was wonderful and friendly. Room was large, bathroom nicely appointed.
Review 6:Bed was not the most comfortable, the garden room we stayed in was rather loud during the night and a fellow traveler was smoking outside our room which made coming and going not all that pleasurable. In addition, the TV was on the left side of the room so it was difficult for two people to enjoy it at the same time.
Review 7:Staff was nice, seemed to have some breakdown following a room change (valet key and check out w/ old room number. Continental breakfast was enjoyable.
Review 8:No parking facilities, valet service took a little too long to get my car in the morning.
Review 9:Great location, cozy atmosphere, unique use of old rowhouses to make interesting hotel.
Review 10:Dirty coffee cups were left by maid service, inaccessible thermostat behind large wardrobe, hair from previous occupants left in bathroom.
Review 11:Quaint historic property with character, though some of the modern amenities were rather dated.
Review 12:It was a little hectic when we first arrived and had to parallel park on the street. The price of the valet parking had increased from $12 to $16. We had difficulty finding our room and the man at the front desk was not friendly and would not tell us which way to go in search of dinner but he did apologize when we returned.
Review 13:We stayed 1 night and we liked that the things that we wanted to visit were within walking distance. The continental breakfast was very good with tablecloths and a newspaper.
Review 14:Parking downtown can be a challenge on your own, however, the hotel offered vallet parking at a reasonable price.
Review 15:Large room, antique furniture, middle of downtown, valet parking. We loved the charm of the building taking us back to the time period of the 1850's yet updated with modern amenities. Rooms were pretty private grouped in two's.
Review 16:total lack of facilities no meal option they play on the fact that there is a free shuttle to any downtown restaurant but this does not get you back again. They also play up the historic building you are staying in. Front desk staff are rude cannot lift there eyes to say hello as they seem to be constantly playing with there mobile (cell) phones. It is a guesthouse charging top hotel rates.
Review 17:the room was a good size and comfortable
Review 18:The most irritating thing was the $15 per day charge for a sm refrigerator in the room. Even low price motel chains provide a frig at no extra cost these days.
Review 19:Ambiance, Staff, Best idea- shuttle service. Had a car- load of personal items, and the ability to keep the car garaged for two days and use the shuttle to get around town was most helpful.
Review 20:Rooms on the ground floor very dark. Breakfast was horrid with plastic Cutlery and the toaster kept breaking down. The breakfast were helpful it was check in didnt offer to help us with our bags or offer a drink after a 5 hour drive to get to the hotel.
Review 21:Nice large rooms and pretty building.
Review 22:My daughter and son-in-law had their wedding ceremony at the Linden Row last year. The 4 of us decided to return for a long weekend to celebrate my daughters birthday and reminisce about the wonderful time we had a year ago. And that's exactly whet we did! The staff was all the same and were so welcoming. It was like going home. The Inn is old and worn and grand and so charming. Always has been a favorite of ours.
Review 23:That smoking was allowed in the garden area. Really disappointing. Its 2015 - hello?!
Review 24:I could feel the history in every room and for one night felt like an old Richmonder from the 1800's. Loved it.
Review 25:They did not clear the sidewalks of snow very well! I had to walk several blocks from hotel for my business and theirs were the most neglected walkways of any business I walked past.
Review 26:The decor, the style of the building - the property is unique, and not a faceless chain hotel. You really feel like you have seen Richmond by staying in this hotel.
Review 27:Linden is proposing to charge me much more than what my Booking, com reservation shows, In fact it is nearly double the quoted amounted. Please look into this. Incidentally, the ice machine did not work.
Review 28:No radio station listing; breakfast was boring..nothing special, typical of what you get in an ordinary motel. Street parking was difficult if you want to save on the valet.
Review 29:The room was very nice--very spacious but almost too big for the size of the tv screen. Good bed, lovely bath..We stayed one night only so it was fine.
Review 30:Found free overnight parking on the street. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. Updated bathroom adds to the comfort without taking away points from the historic property.
Review 31:The upkeep across the hotel was very uneven. For example, my room was huge with a wonderful bed, cared for antiques, and granite bath. But the ceiling was ugly 70's era office tiles, wallpaper peeling/bubbling, paint repairs sloppy. Breakfast also very bad, go to Perlys around the corner.
Review 32:historical buildings, huge room (King room), antique furniture, friendly front desk staff
Review 33:The hotel room was smaller than I expected.
Review 34:Linden Row Inn is charming. The hotel is clean and comfortable with lovely patios and outdoor settings. I enjoyed the comfort of the main reception/living room and was able to work effectively with no distractions. While my hotel room itself was small, it had all of the amenities and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and had nice, updated tile and fixtures. All around it was a very nice experience.
Review 35:I loved how it was not just another cookie cutter hotel. The very cozy decor felt like stepping back into time. I felt more like a bed and breakfast. The staff was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the city and local cuisine. I would come back in a heartbeat.
Review 36:My son's car would not start. Thursday morning, Norman (I believe was his name) willingly took me to the parking lot to meet my son and give his car a jump start. Really appreciated is help.
Review 37:Was glad I didn't have a green light to check for bed bugs as wasn't sure if they were there, but thought about them all night. Carpet wasn't very clean. Wouldn't stay there again.
Review 38:Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Review 39:Wedding kept me up. I didnt get enough sleep and was tired in morning.
Review 40:Staff was very helpful at all times. I enjoyed breakfast. How about adding bacon?
Review 41:The front desk associate Josh Chafin accidentally put an authorization hold on my debit card for the full amount of the room plus the standard $50 authorization hold after I had already explained that a friend of mine purchased the room for me online. By placing that hold on my account I was unable to access those funds for the rest of my trip in Richmond and had to wait until Monday morning for my bank to delete the hold. Josh didn't inspire any confidence in me that it would be taken care of and instead used terms such as, "I'll try to work it out," "We'll try to resolve it, but I'm very busy."
Review 42:My friend and I stayed in one of the seven parlour suites. The room and decor were absolutely gorgeous and a great value for the price. It was also very quiet, which was impressive considering our room faced W. Franklin St.
Review 43:Be sure to ask about when and where it is ok to park if you park on the street. We got a ticket once. They have valet parking if you want to avoid all that.
Review 44:The room was spacious and comfortable. The porches overlook a beautiful, shaded patio garden, and my husband and I enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs just outside our door. Later we went down to the wonderful living room/parlor and read for awhile before bed time. We ate dinner in Shocko Bottom, which is very close. The Inn offers breakfast in a beautiful little dinning room with large windows off the patio. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Since we found this place years ago, we always stay here when we visit Richmond.
Review 45:No physical bar. Male receptionist said I could only buy beer on my card whereas all other receptionists allowed us to pay cash. Facilities not identical, both rooms cost same but one room had refrigerator, in fact it was the only fridge, in that case the room fee should differ
Review 46:The quaintness of the property. Breakfast good
Review 47:Everything was great.
Review 48:Awesome free breakfast and great front desk staff! Very Nice rooms and facilities. Great location!
Review 49:Breakfast. The same care and effort does not extend to the overly minimalist breakfast.
Review 50:Lovely room, great staff and excellent location.
Review 51:We had a lovely room -- the furnishings were lovely.
Review 52:Super-friendly staff. Very helpful
Review 53:The rooms were lovely and comfortable. Breakfast was great but the toaster didn't work as it kept shorting out.
Review 54:Being in downtown Richmond so close to VCU.
Review 55:Bed, although not bad, could have been better.
Review 56:Room was very large and comfortable.
Review 57:The Inn made it very easy to get around the city with their courtesy bus, nothing was too much trouble for the driver.
Review 58:Loved the courtyard, charming historical ambiance, great breakfast and location. Amazing value!
Review 59:Breakfast was a bit disappointing- no hot food other than waffle.
Review 60:Great staff, lovely room, great location. Always a pleasure.
Review 61:staff not very knowledgeable about Richmond; although, they were very nice and tried to be helpful.
Review 62:location and very quaint
Review 63:Air conditioning over bathroom sink.
Review 64:Charming . convenient
Review 65:Staff was not very welcoming nor attentive.
Review 66:Best location - easy access to the Fan / Museum District as well as Downtown. Great courtyard.

Review 71:The remote control for the T V did not work.
Review 72:The room
Review 73:very poor breakfast.
Review 74:the staff was very friendly, nice garden, authentic hotel
Review 75:Large puddle in room when I got there. Breakfast was dismal.
Review 76:Nice location. Attractive buildings.
Review 77:Breakfast quasi non existent. Bathroom items were not replaced. Room was cleaned only in the afternoon
Review 78:Nothing particular
Review 79:Great character
Review 80:Only one elevator to service the entire population. Breakfast was okay, but not much variety.
Review 81:The central location of the inn.
Review 82:Icy brick
Review 83:Free breakfast in Inn
Review 84:I love the guy in front desk, he is really friendly. the drivers too.
Review 85:The rooms are very dated.
Review 86:The staff was extremely helpful and courteous
Review 87:Staying in the carriage house in winter.
Review 88:Great location and the hotel has charm.
Review 89:Smelled like cigarette smoke on patio
Review 90:Pretty and good area
Review 91:Sheets on bed were not soft at all, almost paperlike.
Review 92:Location was excellent and it was a very quaint hotel,
Review 93:Location, staff, value, historical.
Review 94:Walking steps to get to room...on street parking...price for valet parking
Review 95:Old time charrm

Review 99:Beautiful place in a beautiful setting , old world charm
Review 100:Rooms need upgrade for the price
Review 101:Courtyard
Review 102:Nothing.
Review 103:We enjoyed the character, charm, quirkiness. Be sure to really explore the hotel, courtyard, and distinct buildings if you can find the time.
Review 104:Dated back to many years. Hotel is amazing experience
Review 105:The sound of the air conditioning all night
Review 106:The staff The breakfast The shuttle service The period features of the rooms and hotel
Review 107:The historical building. Very quaint
Review 108:Possibly needs some renovation but it not a criticism
Review 109:Atmosphere service location food room
Review 110:I liked the historical legacy of the inn and the rooms opening to a courtyard.
Review 111:Staff, ambiance, location
Review 112:I think the hotel in general could use a cleaning. I understand that keeping up with a place such as this may be tough, but a simple sweeping and dusting would help immensely. Other than that the cleanliness was fine, the staff friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my self and would visit again.
Review 113:Stayed for our anniversary weekend. The location was central and easy walk to lots of attractions. The hotel was beautiful and my wife loved the surprise, we stayed in a parlor suite. I think the hotel was charming. I think that the hotel in general was a great value (free breakfast was average) and would recommend it to others.
Review 114:Room we stayed in lacked a chair or place to access travel bag other than floor. Some staff not as efficient as others.
Review 115:The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Lovely sitting room in main entry way. Very nice breakfast in charming breakfast room.
Review 116:That full length mirror directly across from the toilet, (while you were sitting), get it?
Review 117:The old historic feeling of the Inn. Updated just enough for comfort.
Review 118:Once you are used to it the grid road system is easy.....but for the first few uses it is so easy to lose your sense of direction. We thus found it a tricky place to find. Locals may well find this view somewhat amusing but a mesh of some one way, others two way, intersecting roads is a problem when you are not used to it.
Review 119:Staff were very helpful. Shuttle bus on demand was great. Large room on 4th floor. The front facade is an extremely impressive example of old Richmond.
Review 120:The rooms seemed a little shabby and smelled a little damp. What you would expect from such an old building. The breakfast felt tired and limited.
Review 121:The historical significance of the inn made it a charming place. The shuttle was very convenient and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Review 122:Needed more variety for Breakfast, but good just the same.
Review 123:Absolutely Great Experience, from arrival to departure. Denise at the front desk and Ian the valet, were two of the nicest and genuinely helpful people I have met. They are AWESOME! Thanks to Linden Row for a Great 5th Anniversary visit...we will be back!
