Reviews for Anchorage Motel
Review 1:The faucet was a bit hard to turn on.
Review 2:Forgot 2 memory cards ( for camera )in my room. They included 7 days of important photos. I called and the staff immediately forwarded them to my home address in record time. ++++
Review 3:Parking lot needed more defined markings of spaces (the lines were short). Coffee makers in rooms would be a good addition.
Review 4:Great location in Bar Harbor near restaurants, shops and Acadia Natl Park
Review 5:The rooms need an updating. Have stayed here on and off over the last 10yr. Nothing has been done to inprove the facility.
Review 6:Nice location near the downtown.
Review 7:The decor is extremely dated and dingy; the bathroom was not clean; the pillows were horrible; you could clearly hear people in other rooms.
Review 8:The location is very good, easy walking distance to the bars and restaurants.
Review 9:A day after my girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel we broke out withover 30-40 "bites" each all over various parts of our bodies. We still aren't sure whether it was bed bugs or scabies, but it wasone or both, according to numerous health professionals. We obviouslynever got a straight answer from the owner of the establishment either(and why would we? Who would admit that???) We have spent over 200$ eachin doctors visits and medications to treat the bites and have misseddays of work, not to mention the added stress of the thought we broughtbed bugs into our home. The last month or so has been a nightmare, tosay the least.
Review 10:Nothing.
Review 11:Room construction was so flimsy that when the people upstairs were walking around, it sounded like they were coming through the ceiling; literally! It even made our walls creak. Was hard to get to sleep.
Review 12:Location to downtown Bar Harbor was good.
Review 13:Nothing, it was really good! I'd definitely go there again.
Review 14:The location of the motel is really good - in Bar Harbor, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. You can either take a free shuttle bus to Acadia or drive, it's very convenient. In the morning (6:30-11) you can get free tea and coffee in the motel reception.
Review 15:The great location. We were walking distance from the center of the community.Biking the carriage roads was fantastic, wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 16:No mini refrigerator or coffeemaker in room. Wifi was weak to non existent.
Review 17:Convenience because of proximity to downtown Bar Harbor. Friendly staff. Quiet location.
Review 18:The room we received fit all of the stereotypes of a downtrodden motel. The room smelled of mildew; the carpet felt slightly damp; the walls were paper thin and there were no outlets. If I had just turned myself into witness protection or was running from justice, this would be perfect. However, this was supposed to be a relaxing getaway and the only fortunate thing is that we had to leave early in the morning to watch the sunrise.
Review 19:Great, easy location and walkable to downtown Bar Harbor. Very very amenable and helpful staff.
Review 20:Had to move to a new room as first one had a strong mildew odor that did not dissipate. Would not recommend to anyone with allergies. They moved us with no issue. Second room was better but had similar odor just less strong
Review 21:Location easy walk to town center
Review 22:We could hear everything above and to both sides of us. It made sleeping challenging and it was quite annoying to be honest
Review 23:The location is excellent! Just a short walk to all the shops and the beach not to mention dining
Review 24:The cost for the hotel was a little pricey for what one got a bed , TV, shower and coffee in the morning. Stayed at a Hampton Inn the night after in Pa. For the same price with the difference being like night and day. I know you are in a tourist area but if you folks are going to charge prices like you do at least you could give the guest a breakfast bar for the price. Disappointed that all the accommodations were so expensive that the average family couldn't afford to stay in the area. 157.00 to 385. 00 a night takes the pleasure out of what a family can afford.
Review 25:The location was good, right down in the down town area.
Review 26:The furnishings are out of date. Each room should have a designated parking spot. I wished the room had a small refrigerator.
Review 27:The location was definitely a plus. It was an easy walk to all shops and restaurants. The bathroom was very clean.
Review 28:The parking lot filled to overflowing when the place was full, making it hard to park when we got back late.
Review 29:We were within a 5 minute walk from the center of town. The staff was great, switching our rooms without hesitation when we had to add another person to our room.
Review 30:The bed/mattress was poor/saggy, seemed old. The lighting in the room was quite dim and chairs uncomfortable.
Review 31:Close to the town green and shuttle buses into Acadia. Easy walking distance to just about anything in town.
Review 32:We would have greatly appreciated some basic continental breakfast items, since there was nothing except coffee and tea. Those were taken away later in the morning and then there was nothing. We had to pay extra for a tiny frig.
Review 33:The location was very convenient and had a nice grassy lawn in the front.
Review 34:Old facility and furniture. Ice buckets are scoop out the ice and the seemed to be reused. Not very sanitary.
Review 35:Location was great given the reasonable price. We walked 4-5 blocks to downtown.
Review 36:Lack of fridge. Stained carpet. Generally tired appearance of the place. Limited space to sit outside. Sound carried between rooms.
Review 37:Location. Housekeeping was prompt and did a good job.
Review 38:The beds and bedding need to be replaced.
Review 39:The location to downtown Bar Harbor, and the flexibility of the staff. This is a retro experience of of the classic motor inn. If the beds were upgraded it would be worth the price that we paid
Review 40:Price. I didn't feel that the price was too high, $182 and change, when I booked on Booking.com, it was last minute. But when I opened the door to the to the room I wished I could have paid less. Just dated. I assume location determines price and this was very well located. Prices dropped as you turned onto rte3.
Review 41:Staff, location, and cleanliness were excellent. A very short walk to the waterfront and all the fun. Room was generous size though dated decor. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 42:The beds are very spongy needs to invest in new sets. Would be a huge bonus. They weren't horrible but, would be a nice investment. We stayed two nights and managed.
Review 43:Location is a big plus close enough to walk or drive. To the harbor, restaurants and shopping.
Review 44:The rooms were small and furniture outdated but it was clean and had the basics.G
Review 45:It was an excellent location. You could walk to all the restaurants and shops. The Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 46:Decor and fixtures dated. No coffee makers in rooms. Free coffee in lobby was pretty bad. Wifi spotty.
Review 47:Great location. Clean. Nice people. Comfy beds.
Review 48:very dark & dated room - wall paneling from 1960 maybe? even just painting the paneling would help. No table to play cards, etc. when it rained.
Review 49:it matched our desired location with a short walk to town
Review 50:Old, outdated room. Beds had no mattress or box spring coverings and were stained. Not a comfortable stay.
Review 51:Well situated in Bar Harbor with on site parking. Bathroom had been remodeled and was not too bad.
Review 52:Our room the first night was very nice, clean, and updated. We extended our stay for a second night and had to move to the only room available, which we did not mind doing. The carpet was old and dingy and not clean. The room needs to be renovated to be as nice as the other rooms. We were told they keep this one to be the last to rent out, but why not just fix it up too?
Review 53:The location is great. It is within a five minute walk to the shops, restaurants, and harbor, and it's a nice motel for the price, with the exception of my next comments.
Review 54:No breakfast. No refrigerator in room. No coffee machine in room. Very poor internet. Nowhere to dry clothing.
Review 55:Convenient location with plenty of parking.
Review 56:Mattresses are old and worn out - badly need replaced. Carpet was dirty - got down on the floor to plug in my laptop and where the carpet met the baseboard seemed was not vacuumed since being installed. WiFi was weak at best and mostly internet was not accessible. Parking was insufficient to handle one car per room.
Review 57:Convenient location
Review 58:Great location can walk to everything down town. Place is very clean. It's not a brand new property, but it's very well maintained and offers the best value down town bar harbor.
Review 59:Place was depressing. 1960 era. Severe need to be updated. Noisy room with poor ventilation. Definitely would not stay there again. Poor value!
Review 60:Rundown condition needs remodeled. Place is clean. Bare bones operation.
Review 61:The beds were uncomfortable and other than sleeping, there was nothing, at the property, to keep us there
Review 62:The location was great and the staff was friendly
Review 63:The motel is outdated and oozes retro appeal. If you're looking for finely appointed and modern amenities, this isn't for you.
Review 64:It was nice to be able to walk where we wanted to go in downtown Bar Harbor while staying parked at the motel. It was cheaper than all the other options. The room was extremely clean and I'd stay here again.
Review 65:Nothing worth writing about! Nothing that would keep me from coming back!
Review 66:Pet friendly! Right in Bar Harbor! Best deal around if you want both of these things.
Review 67:The motel is modest in general, but gets all the basic needs right. The bed is relatively hard, but surprisingly comfortable. The room stays cool in any heat, and is well equipped. It is very handy to downtown, which is a huge value to us
Review 68:The motel should tell guests that if they leave the island on 4th to eat elsewhere and watch fireworks that the police block off return access to island and your room for 2 hours at the end of fireworks - 10pm-12pm sitting in your car - 2 hours is a long time.
Review 69:Bed not the comfiest (but could be far worse!), and the WiFi was spotty in our room (2nd floor). Neither of those things bothered us much - we were only there for the weekend, and we were in Maine for the hiking, not the WiFi. But be aware just in case.
Review 70:Anchorage is located right in Bar Harbor, a few minutes walk from any shops, restaurants, or bars you would want to visit in town. The decor feels dated and the bed could be comfier, sure, but it was clean, cozy, and convenient, the staff were friendly, and you can't beat the location or the price.
Review 71:The room smelled strongly of cleaning products until we aired it out. No coffee/tea maker in the room.
Review 72:great location, friendly/helpful staff, roomy rooms
Review 73:If you're looking for fancy - it's not. Comfortable beds, clean, does have hairdryer and free wifi - not much more. Works for us!
Review 74:It's within walking distance of the town, and very easy access to the Nat'l park. Price is nice.
Review 75:No big deal for us but "No Food" meant more than just no continental breakfast. The room had no microwave and no coffee maker. Parking was an issue for us. Parking spots were very narrow and up for grabs. Although we had a room on the first floor facing the parking lot we got the last available spot near the other end of the building.
Review 76:A lot to like. Good size room. Friendly helpful desk person. Medium short walk to restaurants and shopping. Very fair price for this area. Cleanliness-- we're picky and we rate it CLEAN. We will stay here again if we return to this area.
Review 77:No fridge in room and no breakfast.
Review 78:Clean comfortable accommodation right in the centre of town. Large car park. Only a few minutes drive to the National Park. Budget friendly.
Review 79:standard motel without any particular charm; good for the night but hardly more
Review 80:great location in close walking distance to all Bar Barbor attractions; good price for location
Review 81:The staff at the Anchorage motel were very friendly, giving me tips of what I must see, and what if time permitted I might like to see. The motel was good value for the money and while it wasn't water front it was within a couple of minutes walk to the harbor. I would stay here again.
Review 82:paper thin walls. Noisy people in the parking lot at 2 am can be heard clearly. WiFi was fluky at best. Heater gave off an odd propane like smell.
Review 83:Great location to downtown Bar harbor
Review 84:You hear every move from upstairs. You hear every foot step from people running on the stairs. Dirty carpet. Dark, Dated and Dingy rooms. Extremely rude manager.
Review 85:location, the only thing
Review 86:Hotel is a bit dated and the mattresses could be better
Review 87:The staff was very helpful and the location is great. It's close to town and the park is easy to get to. I think it's a great value especially if you plan to spend your day in Acadia and don't care about things like pools.
Review 88:Woken at 1:45 AM by drunk rowdy group returning to hotel - shouting and laughing impossible for anyone to sleep through. Despite being told hotel owners were on-site, no effort was made to quieten the group, so the noise continued for nearly an hour. This is not something that guests should have to deal with, and is unacceptable. We had to leave by 6:00 AM, so our sleep was badly interrupted. Also, I called in the previous day to request a quiet room location, but the man on reception was quite awkward about it - not good customer relations. No fridge or drink making facilities in room, and no access to coffee in reception before 6:30 AM, so we had to go without ahead of a day's driving. Walls not soundproof. Decor old and dark. WiFi temperamental (apparently it doesn't like Apple technology!!) Not worth the $149.
Review 89:Location good for walking into Bar Harbor.
Review 90:Noise .I could hear every talk ,snoring from next room. Whole building was shaking when people used stairs and walk way on the top floor. It was very busy . Definietly not worth that kind of money.
Review 91:Close to downtown and AcadiaNP .
Review 92:Good value, clean and great location for Bar Harbor, easily walkable. Reception was friendly and provided very useful recommendations for local bars and restaurants.
Review 93:the wifi was not woking most time. only the second morning, for a short time.
Review 94:acturely, not for from the town, but we did not take enough time to walk around the town.
Review 95:Wifi was tough to log onto in the afternoon and dropped out entirely for most of the morning. No continental breakfast, no coffee makers in the rooms and the coffee in the lobby was very small and cramped.
Review 96:good location central to town and overall the price wasn't bad.
Review 97:The motel was situated in town but just far enough away from the maddening crowds from cruise ships. Quiet, peaceful and very close to Acadia National Park. I highly recommend staying there.
Review 98:not sound proof enough heard people on the 2nd floor, chair was broke had to leave for emergency still charged for last night
Review 99:location for downtown bar harbor was good walk to anywhere in a few minutes
Review 100:Booked this room thru Booking.com. Went to office next a.m. to pay. To my surprise, they didn't have a reservation for me! I went back to my room to look it up on my computer but couldn't find the email. Went back to the office and told them what the room rate was!! Don't think I'll use Booking.com again. The room was quiet but a overpriced for what we got.
Review 101:When we arrived was told coffee would be available at all times in the office, but was only available in the morning. Since there were no coffee pot or microwaves in the room would have been nice to go down to the office for a cup.
Review 102:Location Clean
Review 103:One of the bedside lamps did not work properly
Review 104:The proximity to the center of Bar Harbor was excellent, the grounds and room were very clean and the price of the room was good.
Review 105:Lack of amenities, such as in room coffee, extra fee for microwave, excessive noise from upstairs, bed spreads need cleaning, no fan in bathroom and a musty odor. All this makes the cost seem to high.
Review 106:Location and friendliness of the staff.
Review 107:Carpet and room decor very dated and worn, fairly clean overall....but for the price in the area not too bad. Fancy it's not! Coffee cups in the office were way too small (easy fix!)
Review 108:Quiet area, walking distance to sand bar and downtown.
Review 109:Can hear some neighbors. Upper floors are best.
Review 110:Room was clean and comfortable Staff was friendly and accommodating Hotel is an easy walk to the entire town.
Review 111:From my room i could hear every footstep of my neighbors, both above me and on my side. Everything looks dated, and wifi signal is very weak. The place offers relatively lower prices than others around it. When you budget remember, however, that the place does not offer breakfast.
Review 112:Location
Review 113:Very thin walls- could hear conversations next room and bathroom and footsep noises overhead. Uncomfortable mattress and thin slippery bedspread that slipped off the bed all night.
Review 114:Close to the town- nice lawn area to sit out and relax
Review 115:the room had a seriously musty smell, there was no refrigerator unless you wanted to pay $10 a day extra, and the room in which we stayed probably had been a smoking room and even though it was clean, it still smelled.
Review 116:The location is great, just a couple of blocks from the heart of Bar Harbor. The hotel receptionist, who works the evening/over night shift, was very helpful with directions, recommendations for food and he was very patient. The room was clean albeit outdated.
Review 117:Nothing could not ask for more i brought my motorcycle and trailer they made accomadations for it as well
Review 118:Clean friendly well kept grounds friendly staff location is convient to everything. 10 walk to downtown. Great as parking is limited in town. As a tour bus driver i stay in many hotels all over the country i rate it a 10.
Review 119:For this price You can find better accomodation
Review 120:The hotel is located 5 minutes walking from bar harbor center and few minutes by car from Acadia national park.
Review 121:The main negative was the price. we've stayed in resort locations for less. But we are also aware that the area commands "top dollar" for rooms. We did look around prior to booking, and the majority of locations are high priced.
Review 122:The location & staff were great. Within walking distance of the busy area in Bar Harbor, but quiet enough to enjoy without too much noise
Review 123:The place is great location, comfortable, but the mattress was very hard, stayed 3 nights, but did not sleep well do to the mattress being so uncomfortable. next time I will bring a form mattress to put on top.
Review 124:Great location.
Review 125:Since many people smoke on the grounds, a receptacle for cigarette and cigar butts should be provided. The area under the trees was littered with disgusting cigarette butts. Also, a refrigerator and/or coffee machine in the room would be nice, especially since most clientele stay for more than a day and buy perishables for hiking and picnicking, as well as blueberries, fudge, and other yummy Maine delights.
Review 126:The hotel is within n close proximity to downtown Bar Harbor and to Acadia National Park. The grounds are well kept and the hotel is set back from the street, so it was quiet. The female staff were extremely helpful with directions to various places and always in a pleasant mood.
Review 127:This room was cheaper than other available rooms, but prices at this time of year are ridiculously high for what you get, wherever you go. This place suited our purposes, but don't expect anything special.
Review 128:The location is centrally located but not noisy. The staff is pleasant. Room was clean.
Review 129:Way over priced. They get it because it's hard to find anything for less in town. However the same room in another location would run $100 less per night. Breakfast NOT included as it seems to be at other simillar places in area. The Quality Inn, for example.
Review 130:Location is great. A short walk to the business area. Was only place we could get in town on short notice.
Review 131:None
Review 132:Very friendly staff person at check in. Rooms are older but very clean. I was on the second floor and even though the motel was full, my room was nice and quiet. I was in Bar Harbor for four days and never started my car between check in and check out. The price at this motel is an extremely good value in Bar Harbor. This is the place to stay if you do not require lots of amenities. between check in and check out. This motel is within walking distance of nearly everything.
Review 133:Pretty bare-bones motel with minimal updates/upgrades over the years. Other than the flat-screen TV, it was kind of like going into a time capsule to 1960.
Review 134:Location was very convenient and within walking distance of all points of interest. Room was clean and tidy, albeit dated.
Review 135:The rooms were outdated and had a musty smell. We had to run the air conditioner to reduce the odor for comfort.
Review 136:The location to down town Bar Harbor was great and convenient, yet far enough out to be away from the crowds. The grounds were nicely maintained and attractive.
Review 137:The beds were not awful but they could be a little better and there could be a little more light in the room.
Review 138:This motel is dated but if you want a basic motel in an excellent location this is it. Our room was spotless - bathroom looked new, carpet was clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly and it is in a great location. Very close to restaurants, shops and the bus to Acadia.
Review 139:room was a little stuffy lwith a musty smell. The fan didn't have too much power to circulate the air.
Review 140:Location. Refrig in room. WiFi. The basics were provided and that's all I needed. Lawn well taken care of
Review 141:Everything!! I honestly cannot say one good thing, except they were across from the Catholic Church, so I refained from giving that lady a piece of my mind!!!
Review 142:Nothing, redhead at front desk missed her calling-customer service is not it !!!
