Reviews for Bluenose Inn - Bar Harbor Hotel

Review 1:Mattress seemed old and was not the best. Couch in room was worn out. Décor of room and hotel was outdated. For the price I would expect better.

Review 2:Incredible views if you get the rooms overlooking the ocean. Easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Fitness Center, Indoor Pool, great facilities. Gas Fireplace in room.

Review 3:No complaints here

Review 4:Very courteous, professional and friendly. rooms were nice, the fireplace and balcony on the water side were great. Enjoyed the nightly music and free cookies in the gathering room.

Review 5:The clerk at check in acted as if since I had booked thru a 3rd party they would give me a lesser room. They had better rooms with better views available.

Review 6:The hotel is not really that close to the water, I thought we would be on the ocean, we could certainly see it from our balcony, but it's across the street and past the College of the Atlantic.

Review 7:Staff was professional and courteous. Looking Glass restaurant was great - wonderful food and beautiful panoramic views. Spa and pool also great.

Review 8:This was a beautifully appointed hotel. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds. We got upgraded to an ocean view with a balcony which was a nice surprise. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. This was useful for packing lunches to eat during our hiking excursions. Breakfast did not have a lot of variety but was free so no complaints. The hotel is about a mile from bar harbor and a nice walk and we were on the free bus route. The sand bar was also really close to us. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay.

Review 9:Breakfast was like a cattle call down the road. I thought we would be having breakfast at the Tugboat Restaurant—not what I expected—very disappointed in that since my husband is big on breakfast. We had to walk down the street to a different hotel for breakfast. Also, rail outside our room was wabbly/unsafe and since hotel is on a pier that is a huge concern.

Review 10:Beds very comfy

Review 11:Very poor breakfast - ad hoc microwave food. No breakfast seating for family or friends. Need to update lounge entertainment/venue. Classical piano/old show tunes not very engaging.

Review 12:Four star room & bar area. Restaurant was above average. Staff throughout the hotel were very pleasant.

Review 13:The continental breakfast was average

Review 14:Staff was very friendly and helpful. The looking glass restaurant had great view and fun place to have breakfast. Our room was very comfortable.

Review 15:Continental Breakfast needs to be upgraded. There was no one to replenish food items, and the area to eat was too small. I would prefer that the Blue Nose not provide a continental breakfast if this continues to be the standards. This Continental Breakfast is an insult to the great Blue Nose Inn.

Review 16:Our room was great and the view was spectacular!

Review 17:Small selection for continental breakfast. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Review 18:The view was amazing. The room was huge with a fireplace and sitting area. Pools were great but the outdoor pool wasn't heated. Hot cookies in the afternoon!

Review 19:Best indoor pool ever. Beautiful view. Location was great to Bar harbor. Breakfast was perfect for our family - nice variety. Could use more seating though. Staff friendly and helpful

Review 20:The breakfast in The Looking Glass was boring.

Review 21:Gorgeous view. My room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The Bluenose Inn is a three minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor!

Review 22:I have nothing bad to say

Review 23:I'm an innkeeper for 20 plus years and spent 3 days at the blu . I was happy with the room the beds great the bath great and the added k cup coffee great . We are at the restaurant and that was ok. They have a gem and need to treat it as so.

Review 24:Food at Looking Glass was terrible, especially for what seem to be touted as a high-end restaurant. Service just as bad as our waitress could care less about serving us- did not even pour our wine. Check in fellow was totally indifferent and unhelpful. Check out woman was good. Room cleaning woman was friendly

Review 25:Best part was our room which was essentially a suite with a great view. Very nice. appreciated the "light continental breakfast but it was not spectacular. good exercise room and free parking - great

Review 26:I wish it was in town (closer to shops) & that breakfast wasn't so basic.

Review 27:Fabulous view, even from the 2nd floor. The room was large & comfortable with a beautiful fire place & large bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay!

Review 28:Toilet in pool house had not been flushed, and it was GROSS. You could smell it. For a place that is supposed to be 4 star, it was very tacky. Restaurant was overpriced. Decor outdated. Wine list not good.

Review 29:People were really nice; view was amazing!!! Most food in restaurant was good. Piano player was soooo good. They needed firewood in there, it was freezing.

Review 30:Room service was offered when we called the night we checked in we were told we can place an order but would have to drive up the hill to get it our self! Then I tried to get mani/pedi I say by pool not busy at spa and was told you need 24-48 hr notice for an appointment! The gift shop went there twice (mind you they say it's 24/7) was never opened when I asked I was told well it's back here behind counter we don't carry magazines or books, it's false advertising on all levels

Review 31:Clean & comfortable

Review 32:The breakfast was pretty slim and was essentially gas station items with the kitchen appliances to prepare them. The room was a little dark with the shades down, it could use more lights inside.

Review 33:Room was a good size. The bathroom was set up nicely as well, great that it had a window. The closet was large as well. View was amazing, rooms was on the second floor.

Review 34:The rooms are very dated, they still use a key for the door locks instead of a card if that gives you any idea. The continental breakfast is a joke for the money paid I would expect more than some Sarah Lee muffins and bagels.

Review 35:The view from my room was excellent.

Review 36:There was just nothing special about this place. Clean and functional. Restaurant OK, just did not live up to expectation. Had come highly recommended so perhaps that's why the disappointment. Sorry

Review 37:*A dirty cleaning rag greeted us on the bed *There was a "murder mystery" huge group of people. SUPER noisy, drunk and rude. *We ended up leaving without saying and staying at a hotel on right on the water.

Review 38:front desk staff was friendly

Review 39:Celebrated my 50th birthday at The Bluenose. What wasn't to like??? Everything was fabulous from the view of the ocean to the fireplace in the room.

Review 40:We had trouble getting two wine glasses for our room and were told we were going to have to walk up a large hill to the restaraunt to get some, because they were hosting an event in the main building and 'didn't have enough for the guests; just those attending their event'. The bartender was standing there and gave them to us, saying 'we'll figure it out'. They did apologize after. Also, the bed was made for us, but our coffee mugs and glasses were neither changed nor washed after being used. Additionally, although we were made aware of an event in the hotel, there was no mention of the 'pajama day' going on in town that was quite a big deal and included all local restaraunts and stores. We caught it by chance, and it was quite fun.

Review 41:The views of the Harbor are amazing!!

Review 42:Small fridge. Road noise on balcony.

Review 43:Chelsea went above and beyond to accomodate our request to a higher floor. Outstanding customer service--- we would not hesitate on booking a future stay here!

Review 44:For breakfast, you had to walk to Another building up the hill. Very Inconvenient. In the lounge at Night, piano player got upset Because we were talking with Another couple while he was Playing. HEY, it's a lounge.

Review 45:Room, View, excellent, very clean, But expensive. Night before we Stayed at a hotel just down the Street almost as good for $130 Less.

Review 46:The commode in the bathroom was so low to the floor that it was uncomfortable. There are many new higher models on the market! Perhaps a replacement is in order!

Review 47:The quietness, cleanliness and the Great Room entertainment, the yummy cookies, coffee and tea available. Most of all, the spectacular view. Awesome! Loved being able to enjoy the view of cruise ships from the balcony.

Review 48:Torn lampshade in room never replaced Electrical outlet in bath went out sometime B-4our last day-lost medication & food. Take an elevator 2 floors 4 ice No free breakfast with $244 room

Review 49:I don't have any negative comments. I did feel the price of our room being over $300.00 was bit high; however, the accommodations were excellent.

Review 50:the View the Help at the Front desk the Spa the Pool the restaurant up on the hill the Piano player and the Bar area near the Fireplace

Review 51:The property is beautiful, and the staff is great. A wonderful place to relax, and is convenient to Downtown, and Acadia National Park. We never needed to move the car.

Review 52:Noise level from floor above room at night. Could hear people walking in room above us Tightness of bathroom area

Review 53:Restaurant for breakfast Massage chair in room size of room view from room

Review 54:The walk to town was a bit unpleasant as we had to walk on the side of a main road with lots of traffic. The restaurant was good but a bit pricey for what we had. and for the ambient. The place is small so we had to wait quite some time before being seated ,even if we had made a reservation.

Review 55:The room was clean & pleasant. Beautiful vista on the water. The swimming pool/ SPA are great

Review 56:Just a littled dated for the price of the rooms. Would be charming and perfect with a makeover.

Review 57:Great friendly staff. Very clean...decor dated but didnt detract much. Great lobster omelet at looking glass restaurant with fantastic views. There was a wonderful piano player in lobby..very romantic. Im told he has been there for years.

Review 58:It's a little out of the way of restaurants and it does not give an impression of beautiful surroundings although it could with very little more effort. The general impression is that the location has nice views of the water from the balcony walk but the overall impression is practical, clean but nothing else.

Review 59:The view from your breakfast room was worth seeing. The cookies and cold drinks at the lobby upon checking in is a welcome touch for travellers who had been cooped up in a car for hours.

Review 60:Proximity to town Indoor pool Restaurant on site, good breakfast Great room with piano bar nice down time Great views from balcony Comfortable room

Review 61:Staff was not friendly. Especially woman working front desk and restaurant.

Review 62:Location was great. So close to town to enjoy the hustle and bussel of downtown happenings yet away from town noise, activities at the end and beginning of day to relax and read or enjoy outdoor and indoor pools.

Review 63:For the food- I would prefer a buffet breakfast option. Also, the rooms were clean but needed some updating/modernizing.

Review 64:We loved the location, as it was just out of the crowds of the town.. but close enough to walk in. The food at the restaurant was also great. The staff all over the hotel was super friendly, especially the maid service.

Review 65:A bit pricey compared to other hotels and no breakfast included. I paid about 100$ less for a Hampton inn in Peabody ma, near Salem and had a comparable room with a great breakfast. But then again, everything in bar harbor is way overpriced.

Review 66:The bed was very comfortable, the view was terrific, nice room

Review 67:Not a thing.

Review 68:From the extremely friendly staff who helped plan our day, to Bill Trowell, the Great Room pianist who eased us to the end of our evening, we can't see ourselves staying anywhere else in Bar Harbor.

Review 69:Nothing

Review 70:My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Bluenose Inn while vacationing in the BarHarbor area. The room was very comfortable and the view of the harbor was breathtaking. The proximity to the park and the amenities down town was perfect! We will defiantly recommend the Bluenose Inn to our friends and colleges and hope to return again someday. Mike & Sharon

Review 71:Our room was nicely furnished but the building itself was very dated as if they had bought an existing old motel and built a new main building in front of the old.

Review 72:The location and view was very nice as well as the main hotel facility but the out buildings were another story.

Review 73:I thought the restaurant a little pricey but the food quality was good. My room was over the piano bar and I knew it.

Review 74:morning coffee on the balcony and the fireplace on a cool evening.

Review 75:Location

Review 76:The Bluenose Inn is what a great resort hotel ought to be. Everything was in place, comfortable, and welcoming. The view can't be beat.

Review 77:Uncomfortable bed

Review 78:The view of the bay

Review 79:The entrance to the rooms being outside.

Review 80:Loved the convenience of the restaurant on site.

Review 87:Not enough parking. It was difficult finding a spot when returning in the evening.

Review 88:The charm and cleanliness of the venue.

Review 89:Did not care for continental breakfast

Review 94:Rooms could use some tlc and updating. Paint was peeling in the bathroom

Review 95:We enjoyed the ocean view

Review 119:The spaciousness of the room and the view of the bay.

Review 120:A little too far from downtown Bar Harbor

Review 121:The view and the pool

Review 122:On the pricey side.

Review 123:Lovely decorated, very traditional felt like home.

Review 124:The beds were a little saggy.
