Reviews for Molokai Blue Goose Bed and Breakfast
Review 1:Very much away from small and only town - would prefer to have stayed in this town area so was disappointed with location, but made the most of the situation. Good breakfast. Small choice of food at only shop.
Review 2:Able to cook for ourselves in good kitchen.
Review 3:The owners were so nice and accommodating. Breakfast was divine and we got to chat with the owners. The hosts will give you great suggestion about places to visit. The patio is a plus too. Perfect place to have your morning coffee.
Review 4:Husband is very discouraged and negative and dominated the breakfast conversations.
Review 5:Great breakfast foods and presentation by a cheerful Sue. Clean, crisp linens and towels. A screened balcony and adequate but spartan room . Interesting rural sounds of bantam roosters in the neighborhood. Good location to travel to the west end of the island.
Review 6:Owners very unhappy & have the property fore sale. Were quite negative about Molokai which I would think is not a suitable way to promote the area.
Review 7:Magnificent view
Review 8:It was a basic, but cozy bed and breakfast. The owners were so welcoming and hospitable. They made you feel like family. We enjoyed visiting with them over their delicious breakfast. They truly enhanced our trip.
Review 9:room was a little warm, a fan would be nice
Review 10:Friendly owners, clean room, great location. Loved the large fresh cooked breakfast. Local fruit would be nice to add.
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:We really liked the couple who owned the b&b. Food was excellent and portions more than adequate. Advice on travel was very useful. Historical perspective helped us to know the island.
Review 13:You need to setup a wifi adjusting IP address, price, kitchen is not so well equiped, not so easy to find (no sign or anything)
Review 14:Owners Jim and Sue were really nice, kind, gave recommendations about the island, breakfast was good, it was cheapest available on the island at that time, but still kind of expensive
Review 15:First time staying at a bed and breakfast. It was wonderful. I felt like I was going home for a visit. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. Wonderful breakfast and good company. The WiFi didn't work but no big deal. The only reason my score didn't add up to a solid 10. Highly recommended. No hidden costs.
Review 16:It would have been nice to have had some fresh Hawaiian fruit with the breakfast - which was otherwise just fine.
Review 17:Jim and Sue, our hosts, were very congenial and helpful while we were at the B&B. The room was clean and ready for us. The breakfast was wholesome and quite adequate.
Review 18:No bad experiences, but potential guests should know that there is a staircase they might need to climb to get to their rooms, and more stairs to climb to get to the breakfast area.
Review 19:They are friendly and helpful with directions on how to get to places, whether walking or driving. They prepare delicious, healthy breakfasts, and they ask the night before about times and food preferences. They are flexible with check-in and check-out times and are willing to help clients have a pleasurable, comfortable stay.
Review 20:The room was very sparse-no dressers or reading lamps. There were dark screens covering the windows so you couldn't see out. The bed was just a full-size and hard. There was no hairdryer. We couldn't wait to get out of there.
Review 21:It was only two nights.
Review 22:We loved staying at the Blue Goose, it met our needs perfectly. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The location was a quick drive away to Kaunakakai (20 mins), even closer drive to the airport (10 mins). The beaches on the east side are the best ones on the island. We did a lot of hiking and Sue always made sure we had plenty to eat in the morning! Her breakfast is amazing. It was nice to wake up to a home cooked meal.
Review 23:Our schedule did not allow us to meet our hosts, but they took very good care of us anyway, responding quickly to questions, and preparing us a lovely take-out breakfast! We would stay there again in amazing Molokai!
Review 24:Very friendly, nice place. Private bath - shared kitchen so you could bring in your dinner. Served a very nice, large hot breakfast - you did not leave hungry. Gave great recommendations for visiting the island. Close to the airport, downtown and mule trail ride, easy access to west coast for sunset.
Review 25:Sue's breakfast is awesome and you will never leave feeling hungry like Jim said. The couple is so nice and treat you like family. They tell you stories about the island and their life. It was just a great experience for me and I definitely recommend the place!!
Review 26:Room did not have an AC, so it was a little stuffy at night. A fan in the room would have helped a lot. Mattress was a little to hard for our preference, but that is very minor. The room is just that, a room with a bathroom. We did see a few bugs, but that didn't really bother us. We just needed a place to spend the night, so it worked great for us.
Review 27:The couple running the B & B were very nice, and the breakfast was the highlight of the stay.
Review 28:Location, Location, Location
Review 29:Jim and Sue are friendly hosts. Their motto of, "If you leave hungry it is your own fault" is right on.
Review 30:nice and quiet. would have been even better if i had had my own means of transportation.
Review 31:Wonderful breakfast of banana macadamia pancakes with eggs and sausage along with pleasant conversation with Jim and Sue.
Review 32:THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT AS WAS THE PEOPLE WHO MANAGE THE B&B.
Review 33:simple and very clean room; nice hosts; comfortable bed. great beach recommendations!
Review 34:there was no ceiling fan or anything like it.
Review 35:The hosts are really nice and we had a good talk while having a lush breakfast.
Review 36:Could be updated.
Review 37:Clean, attached bathroom and a great breakfast with great people.
Review 38:Hospitality, breakfast, room, view,
Review 39:Location is a little far from town (about 30 min drive).
Review 40:Our hosts Sue and Jim are very accommodating.
Review 41:Quiet location, owners very nice chatty and helpful. Good breakfast.
Review 42:That we could only stay one night
Review 43:Loved it! Couldn't ask for a better bed and breakfast
Review 44:Beds are hard...to hard for me. Room three door needs some lube for the hinges. I think we woke the other guests up going in and out at 5:30 in the morning to begin our adventures. O-well. No microwave or stove to cook with although they had a electric pan to use. If you like TV to entertain you at night, forget it, use your laptop or e- reader.
Review 45:Sue and Jim were very good hosts. The breakfast was good and if you leave hungry it's your fault. Sue was very informative about the island and helpful with places to swim and things to see and do. I would say if you are traveling with the expectations of being pampered then you will be disappointed. Buy coffee you like and food that you have minimal prep work to do. If you are a light sleeper and don't like roosters crowing and occasional dogs barking. Then this place is not for you. Be independent and willing to drive about 15 to 20 miles into town for the town things to do like shopping. This is a great place to unwind. No TV, has Internet service and unless you phone service is compatible with T-Mobile then you are out of luck. UNPLUG, tune out and want peace and quite, its all relative in that regard, then its a good place to chill out IF YOU CAN entertain yourself. They have a washer and dryer and provided us with a cooler and ice packs. Beach towels provided. Each room has own bathroom. Molokai has a lot to offer if you are outdoor adventuresome. We would stay here again, although you have to like hard beds.
Review 46:It was hard to sleep because of the neighborhood dogs & roosters... Lots of barking & crowing during the night
Review 47:Owners were very friendly & accommodating with our late arrival. Each room has it's own bath which is very nice
Review 48:You can hear the family living above you walking around. There are no signage notifying you that you located the right home. You need to find someone in the back to know you are a guest. No view from rooms.
Review 49:Great breakfast! Felt safe staying there. Private quarters. Free street parking
Review 50:Need a least one comfortable chair in the bedroom. Only a plastic chair was there.
Review 51:breakfasts were great - and the company too! t was nice having a guest kitchen for lunch preparation and food storage.
Review 52:-The house has no markings so it was difficult to find.- There was a note on the door telling which room was for who. Unfortunately it was a old note as our names where not on it causing us further confusion. - It would be nice to know some basic things. Like that we were suppose to go upstairs for breakfast(we thought it was being served in the kitchen downstairs) and how to actually get upstairs.
Review 53:-Breakfast was fantastic! -Despite some of the negative reviews Ithought the Blue Goose was fine. They are very nice and accommodating.-I liked being on the west side of the island and visiting the beautifulbeaches there. The b&b was perfect for that.
Review 54:A bit spartan. A bit distant from activities.
Review 55:Price. Lower cost than most Molokai B&B's and will do single nights. Congenial hosts. Breakfast.
Review 56:Private home with a few extra rooms and two nice renters. Breakfast was with the renters and pretty good. WiFi and refrigerator were available and worked. I'd recommend it.
Review 57:Arrival procedure could be a bit more transparent - ie instructions about what to do if you arrive without a mobile phone and nobody is home.
Review 58:The owners are genuinely nice and helpful people. I was given a checkout time of "whenever you want" on the day I left, which I really appreciated as my flight wasn't until evening. The B&B is in Maunaloa on the west side of the island. There is nothing much out there, which was a plus for me - I enjoyed the peace and quiet. It's very green and pretty, and watching the sun disappear behind Oahu in the distance from the deck is just glorious. The free fast wifi was very useful and you have use of a full kitchen.
Review 59:Dirty shower floor, no guardrail on top of stairs to prevent a bad fall. No fans in room for ventilation. Basically this was a downstairs room in a house. Family upstairs including four adults and one young child (with a baby due any day) were often quite loud in the evening and morning.
Review 60:My own room with small enclosed patio as well as shower, sink and toilet in room.
Review 61:What would have made all the difference to us would have been some reasonably comfortable chairs on the communal deck area. We could then have had somewhere to sit in the evenings.
Review 62:The B&B provides just what it says on the tin - a comfortable bed and excellent breakfasts. We enjoyed the conversations we had with the owners (keeping off politics!). This place is run as budget accommodation and is good value.
Review 63:Very friendly owners of the property. Nobody leaves hungry! Breakfast was the best of all bed and breakfasts visited do far. Very clean. Great price!
Review 64:Zero - it was perfect.
Review 65:The owners were extremely friendly and have become part of Molokai. They are knowledgeable about the culture and people, could recommend beaches, hikes, activities.Made us feel like part of their family. I would recommend a stay at the Molokai Blue Goose Bed and Breakfast to anyone visiting the island.
Review 66:Be advised that a car is recommended as it is some distance from the airport & town. There is one small grocery store nearby but it no longer sells hot food.
Review 67:Great helpful hosts, great breakfasts served in the family dining room with individual preferences catered to. We appreciated the eating area/reading area & fridge for the use of guests We made salads, sandwiches - others used a BBQ. There is no stove. Our bedroom & ensuite were spacious & well appointed. It was a very relaxing stay.
Review 68:The host was a very friendly person to talk to, and who made amazing breakfast!!! You will definitly not leave hungry. The beds were comfortable.
Review 69:Calling the lounge "a lounge" was a bit of a stretch.
Review 70:Friendly and helpful.
Review 71:nothing
Review 72:1. Courtesy and warmth. 2. Comfortable room, bathroom, extra reading / cooking room. 3. Conversational hosts. 4. Wonderful food
Review 73:Everything was very good.
Review 74:Great room, great people, fantastic breakfast with good conversation. Lovely yard with great agricultural efforts
Review 75:Rooms need a good cleaning-rugs need shampooing-comforters washed. Rooms have a moldy smell.
Review 76:Wonderful hosts-nice breakfast.
Review 77:The facilities were very sparse with no amenities or ambience.
Review 78:We enjoyed meeting and talking with the other guests.
Review 79:there is nothing to complain
Review 80:nice house, nice rooms (with shower and toilet) and very nice people. we really enjoyed our stay!
Review 81:I thought the owners were lovely, my stay was very short but it suited what i needed.
Review 82:early close of front office
Review 83:cleaness
Review 84:Great breakfast, owners very helpfull
Review 85:Quite basic room.
Review 86:Nice landlords, friendly service, good breakfast, good service for the price.
