Reviews for Trail's End Guest House

Review 1:Nothing here to comment on.

Review 2:The comfort of the cabin, the breakfast was fabulous and definitely does not leave one in hunger the rest of the day. The wildlife is teeming and the view from the pool is spectacular.

Review 3:It one time it must have been a beautiful place, now has a very uncared feeling, very debilitated , lots of environmental hazards, to many wires, loose boards, prodruding floor nails , to much broken down furniture around, very intidy,

Review 4:The peacefulness

Review 5:our room was a little claustrophobic because the windows were blocked out. Otherwise good!

Review 6:very quiet and secluded, a great place to hide away for a visit Wonderful pool and view, no crowds to fight

Review 7:Ours was a great little cabin with all the amenities, back porch facing into the woods, and even a cat devoted to our cabin! Breakfast was fantastic, and the view from the swimming pool is one of the best in the county. The place is a little hard to find so make sure you get the welcome email before you set out.

Review 8:This place was the perfect spot for you and your spouse to get away and reconnect with one another. Staff was amazing, food was great and the cottage was adorable.

Review 9:The yard was full of goat poop. And the flies were out of control.

Review 10:Nice walking areas. Enjoyed seeing the goats and donkeys. Beds were very nice. Never seen the staff to my knowledge.

Review 11:Even with six sets of directions from the website, the place is not easy to locate. Shower curtain so mildewed had to go to dollar store and buy a plastic one to put up for the weekend. Spider webs all over small bedroom's wall;not visible in daytime but at night when lights on; indicates not cleaned thoroughly. Old chair is almost entirely green with mildew on porch as you enter The Retreat. Walkway to Retreat has broken and warped boards which are a safety hazard. Wife of owner couple like a "Jeykll and Hyde" personality. 1 million rules to stay at this property, even for 60 year olds.

Review 12:Daily breakfast was different each morning and fantastic; cooked by husband of owner couple. Coffee provided for coffee maker was excellent. Beds were good and air conditioning and fans worked well. Little goats, burros and birds were great to see and hear.

Review 13:Fold down sleeper sofa bed not as comfy as I would have liked.

Review 14:Cute comfy cabin with nice kept up grounds. Hot tub and brig breakfast served at cabin every morning

Review 15:Infinite on-demand water heaters can be tricky.

Review 16:Secluded and quiet. "Writer's" cabin has whirlpool tub - in the room. Incredible breakfast. Nice back deck with ashtray, grill, and chimenea. Party lights give pleasant outdoor ambience. Pool with great view - but it was rainy so didn't get to sit by it. Adults-only pool. No one under 18 allowed.

Review 17:Bed was a bit firm but that is purely an opinion. Water pressure was a bit low but this is really nitpicking, who would be in a hurry for hot water in this environment??

Review 18:Just a plain beautiful property. Very tranquil and peaceful. I don't think anyone could criticize the level of relaxation offered here.

Review 19:There are a LOT of rules but it keeps it nice and quiet. If you can't tolerate the smell off farm animals, don't come here. The wifi is only an options if it doesn't rain the entire weekend like it did on our trip. Also, there are no ceilings in the bedrooms of The Retreat cabin we stayed in so snuggling up to your significant other is about all the night time activities you will be able to do if you are traveling with another couple of children.

Review 20:It was a beautiful place, very clean and quiet. The couple that owns/runs it are amazing and very courteous. You can also come and go as you please.

Review 21:The spiders were everywhere, but that's to be expected. Just sprayed around and it was fine. There was a strange smell outside and with the water sometimes.

Review 22:The peace and quiet was great. We got to spend time together and the house was beautiful. And the beds were amazing, slept better than I have in years. We will be back!

Review 23:We asked about the low water pressure and they checked it while we were out exploring. The note they left made us feel wrong in asking about it.

Review 24:The location was pretty nice - you could see out over the trees and hills.

Review 25:The only thing I didn't like was the bath tub.. It was a Jacuzzi tub and it was out in the open.. No privacy at all when you take a bath.. No shower, it did have a shower like handle.. But like I said it was in the open...

Review 26:The room comes with a morning breakfast and it is a breakfast fit for a king.. Better than anything you would get if you had to go get breakfast.. Fantastic.. The room was very nice and cozy..

Review 27:We like the remote location cabin, but a short ways from town. It was quite woodsy. Their were goats and donkeys, they were quite, close by enjoyable. The cabin was cozy and clean. The gourmet breakfast was the best we have ever had.

Review 28:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 29:This was an amazing get away for us we enjoyed the view, the breakfast was amazing, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed feeding the donkeys and goats also.

Review 30:Very peaceful and quiet place to stay. We have a 6 year old daughter so it was fun exploring the property and visiting the goats and Donkeys. The breakfasts were absolutely amazing! Great place to stay!

Review 31:The cabin was a little more rustic than I would have preferred. We stayed in the Hunters cabin. Just not the quality I had expected for the price.

Review 32:The breakfast was incredible!!! Best breakfast I've eaten!!

Review 33:Trails End was just what we needed! we were looking for a place to take a long weekend! The staff was very friendly, the breakfasts they served were excellent! The location was perfect for the places we wanted to visit and the things we wanted to do in the area! The accommodations were perfect for my wife and I. We will definitely be returning here!

Review 34:We loved our room, small and cozy with a private sunroom and patio, the Tuscan Room. We also loved the breakfast meals, delicious and filling. Even though we were minutes from town, Trails End makes you feel like you are hours from civilization. Will recommend to others and stay again when we get the chance.

Review 35:The bed in the cabin is very hard and is ok if you like a firm mattress ...we are softie people!!!

Review 36:Love the peacefulness and being secluded...great getaway place for married couples!!! The owner is a chef and prepares marvelous meals and over feeds his guests...great find for the money!

Review 37:Quiet, cozy, quaint

Review 38:We got to the guest house late on a rainy night. It was one of our first tastes of Fall this year, and this was the perfect place to celebrate it with a hot bath and a faux-fire. Sadly, we had to leave before breakfast, so it's high on our list of places to return.

Review 39:This was truly a gem in the Hill county. It's quiet, relaxing and just far enough out to rid of the hustle and bustle of the city. The food was outstanding and everything was just perfect. It was our first time away from our toddler and we desperately needed alone time. Loved it and would certainly stay there again.

Review 40:it was so nice to stay somewhere so comfortable quiet that you can hear the crickets in the middle of the night soothing you to sleep.not only that but I left a DVD that we me and my wife rented from Redbox and the owner she was so nice and didn't hesitate to take it back for us when we realized we left it in the cabin.we loved everything about the place and property. it was so nice to walk around all the property on the acreage with my wife just us and nobody bothers looking at all the different creatures you could find.

Review 41:Air con didn't cool enough at night, couldn't sleep and had spiders, scorpions , maybe fumigation would stop that. - breakfast was not good, maybe something more simple would be better.

Review 42:Location n pool. It was beautiful, secluded and romantic. It was relaxing and I will be back. I want to try every cabin. ;)

Review 43:Ummm, WiFi was a bit inconsistent, but cellular was fine so the cellular hotspot (from our phones) worked for us when WiFi didn't want to.

Review 44:Location; secluded, out of the way, in a woodsy area. Breakfast; HUGE! Enough to feed 4, though there were only 2 of us. Hearty - was more like a lunch! Quiet, fully stocked. AC kept cabin nice and cool. Covered porch with chairs (and bug spray provided!) This place is fabulous! It really was a "booking.YEAH" moment when we walked in! Welcome basket waiting, cabin already cool when we arrived (it was over 100 degrees when we stayed). Beautiful drive to the location and the location is in a wonderful spot. Great view of the hills from the pool area! Donkeys and goats near our cabin made for a wonderful ambient background sound when just laying around reading and relaxing! We didn't get around to hiking or exploring the property, we'll save that for the next trip to Trail's End!

Review 45:The cabin was very small. Bathroom extremely small.

Review 46:The breakfasts were very good, but they were dinner meals not breakfasts meals. Nice and quiet area.

Review 47:The areas around the pool and deck by the pool could be a little better kept. A lot of the plants were very over grown and a little uncomfortable to walk around.

Review 48:We loved the privacy here, the writers cabin was so peaceful and perfect for just the two of us.

Review 49:Bathroom

Review 74:the concept space-the place

Review 75:Great place to stay, loved the breakfast!

Review 76:LOVED THAT IT WAS SECLUDED AND VERY RUSTIC. BREAKFAST WAS GREAT DELICIOUS.

Review 77:Find location. Jacuzzi didn't work. Low water pressure. Sruffy vagabond site.

Review 78:View from the cramped pool area.

Review 79:Wish bathroom sink had more water pressure

Review 80:A place to go for a complete refreshing relaxation getting away from the city rat race.

Review 81:The shower being in a tub but its ok it wasn't that big of deal.

Review 91:The bed in the far end bedroom was very uncomfortable.

Review 92:Very relaxing and makes you feel at home. Everything is in good shape and very well kept.

Review 93:We were in the smallest cabin available and could of used a light over vanity and a bigger mirror.

Review 94:Almost everything.

Review 104:Wish checkout was noon instead of 11am

Review 105:Seclusion, comfort, cleanliness, FOOD WAS AMAZING!

Review 106:Nothing. We didn't care for the pig poop smell that permeated the air. We tried to call the phone number, yeah, it's disconnected. We walked around the junkyard trying to find someone, nuh-uh

Review 107:Would have liked a better view of the surroundings. Our cabin had a privacy fence around it.

Review 108:Charming, rustic cabin. Very comfortable and clean. Loved the rocking chairs on the porch and the peaceful surroundings. AC in each room, sleep number beds, excellent homemade breakfast delivered right on time. We stayed in the "Some Like It Hot" cabin with 2 bedrooms.

Review 109:Nothing, all good!

Review 110:A stunning view, peaceful and quiet. A breakfast that sees you through to dinner, very tasty and non-standard. Spacious room. And a location in the middle of nature, yet not too far from amenities.

Review 111:The water pressure for the shower and tub was low so it took a while to fill up the tub or take a shower but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't that bad.

Review 112:The breakfasts were superb. Lots of food and it was different than the usual fare. We enjoyed walking the property and just relaxing.

Review 113:The walking trails on the property are not so easy to find or navigatable, but then there are plenty of State Parks nearby
