Reviews for Casa Larrea Inn
Review 1:The owner, Kim, was very friendly and helpful. The Inn has a fantastic location. So close to dining, shopping, etc-all within walking distance. The Inn is not new but very, very clean and has great character. The continental breakfast is also a big plus.
Review 2:There was a blackout at El Paseo which got us worried about no power for the night.. but Alan quickly came with nightlights and torchlights and power was restored in 30 minutes..
Review 3:Casa Larrea Inn is right next door to El Paseo.. great shopping and eateries. Location is fabulous at Palm Desert, the warm greeting from Alan at the Inn.. the charming décor of the inn and the nutritious breakfast in the morning. The inn is clean and well maintained. Being a pet friendly hotel, we met a nice couple that just arrived from Czechoslovakia with a cute schnauzer.. we were most happy with the pet friendly policy of Casa Larrea Inn
Review 4:Historical significance of La Posada and how lovingly the property has been restored. We had one of the best meals of our life in the Turquoise Room.
Review 5:Casa Larrea has a charm all its own, putting all the guests in high spirits. Inn co-owner Kim inquired several times, asking if she could do anything else to help make our stay more pleasant. The breakfast is very good, too.
Review 6:This is a really great place to stay, I can't recommend it enough! It is very clean, the owners are really wonderful, and make their guests feel at home (they held a barbecue for the guests and invited everyone to eat dinner together by the pool and bar area). The inn is very charming, beautiful and relaxing. You will be happy that you stayed here!
Review 7:At check in Alan noted our names and called us by our first names each timer spoke - a nice, personal touch. Loved the rooms, loved the pool-garden area, breakfast was good. Couldn't fault it. We said it was like an oasis.
Review 8:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Larrea Inn. It is a charming, peaceful place. Alan was incredibly accommodating and friendly. Better than average continental breakfast, very comfy bed, nicely stocked little kitchen, whimsical surroundings. Will definitely return on a regular basis.
Review 9:Kim is a wonderful host! When we stayed there it was just my fiance and I (we were getting married that week while staying with her). We told her that on Friday we were getting married and she was so excited for us! She asked us about what we were doing, gave us advice on things to see and do. The day we got married we headed back to the hotel to change and she told us she had gotten us a present but that she would leave it in the room for when we got back later. When we got back late that night she had left a bottle of champagne on ice, a scrap book, a picture frame, and a really delicious fruit salad in the refrigerator. I have never had anyone that runs a hotel show so much love for their guests. We've already decided that when we go back we'll definitely stay with her again. Its a good place for a getaway for a couple, its small, and she plays music all day outside near the pool which makes it more fun. Its also in a good part of town, right on Highway 111 which leads to the malls, restaurants, and shopping areas within a 10 minute or less driving span. It was an amazing stay there, we didn't want to leave!
Review 10:Poor tv reception, limited channel choice. Bed was way too soft for ourliking. Facility did not suit our needs, but cost was low.
Review 11:Location in Palm Desert / El Paseo area
Review 12:Beds a little soft.breakfest could have had more variety. Maybe get some nice bagels from the deli right down the street
Review 13:Very peaceful . Towels very soft in shower
Review 14:Nothing in the world is perfect - but I can't think of anything I would want to change - especially the owners who make it what it is.
Review 15:Everything - but especially the owners, Kim & Frank, who go out of their way to make things perfect. Within minutes of meeting them I felt I had known them all my life. All the guests felt the same way and the whole atmosphere, regardless of nationality, was like meeting up with old friends. Kim has a unique natural ability of creating a real home from home and genuine feeling of getting pleasure from having you there. Would I go back - give me the chance!
Review 16:My boyfriend and I stayed at this lovely inn for the second weekend of coachella and enjoyed it greatly. It's super close to the mall in Palm desert which had good food options and only 20 mins or less to our beloved Coachella! Kim, the owner, was super sweet and super friendly! We checked in late on the first night and really appreciated that she was able to still check us in at 10ish! We had driven late from LA to avoid the traffic and it was quite night!
Review 17:The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Great location if visiting Coachella. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Cannot recommend enough.
Review 18:WiFi was a bit temperamental, but did work after some fiddling around.
Review 19:Manager Kim made us welcome and feel like family. Bed and pool both excellent and just right!
Review 20:Lobby closed much of the time.
Review 21:1. Location just off El Paseo strip. 2. Indoor-outdoor facilities with big poolside area and private patio. 3. Small scale - only 12 units.
Review 22:No one was at the desk or answered the bell when we arrived. We had to get help from a guest to find Kim to check us in.
Review 23:Delightful manager (Kim), her personal taste in decorating creates a lovely oasis. Good breakfast, too. We plan to return.
Review 24:Great location that's walking distance to the shops & restaurants on main street in Palm Desert. Extremely friendly owners who do everything possible to make you feel comfortable. They even organized a free guest BBQ one of the nights we stayed which was great! Wonderful value for your $$ too.
Review 25:Kim, the owner, made us feel like her personal guests. She really looks out for her guests and visits with them; she also made great recommendations for our touring. We enjoyed having breakfast, with varied options, sitting around the pool with the other very friendly guests. When we were there, all mature couples, many snowbirds. An older property with eclectic decor, within walking distance of El Paseo for food and shopping. We'll return!
Review 26:Nothing bad to report.
Review 27:The staff was very pleasant and friendly. They made us feel like we were part of the family. This is the best kept secret in Palm Desert.
Review 28:Nothing!
Review 29:We felt like home from the moment we entered the quaint property. Owners so accommodating and met many friendly folks. Breakfast was great. Will definitely return.
Review 30:none
Review 31:This is an older property, but it is very well kept, and the owners are very personally involved in your personal comfort. Very clean, beds extremely comfortable. The included breakfast was very good.
Review 32:Great little hideaway that's walking distance from the finest shops and restaurants in Palm Desert! Friendly staff and spotless facility. The pool and garden area were relaxing and inspiring full of fruit and hummingbirds, too! If you need a getaway, this is the place!
Review 33:This is directed to the hotel industry as a whole. It would be great if check-in-time could be 1 PM, as this then lets you use the facility for the 24 hours you are paying for. It is especially important at resorts where you go to get a bit of sun. Checking in at 3 PM and then being forced to leave at 11 AM means the best part of the day is lost to enjoy the pool and sun.
Review 34:Staff very friendly and attentive.
Review 35:I thought it was great and my 14yo thought it was wonderful.
Review 36:My grandson and I enjoyed the peace, quiet, and restoration each evening when we came back to the facility. Pool and hot tub were wonderful. We were close to the Paseo which features had everything you could want. Staff were very helpful with suggestions of things to see and places to eat.
Review 37:The bed was a bit soft.
Review 38:The decor is charming. Kim is super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very adequate with a variety of fresh continental breakfast type items. The hotel is within walking distance of the restaurant and shopping district.
Review 39:Christmas shopping for the weekend could not have picked a better place. Great breakfast and the toaster worked great. If you frequent such places you know that isn't always the case.
Review 40:Nothing. But just to let people know, there are no little toiletries - there is shampoo/conditioner/shower gel in cases in stand-up shower - like you get in the gym; it didn't bother me - I always bring my own, but I know some people love those freebies!!!
Review 41:everything...great location, 1 block behind El Paseo, home to great shops/restaurants, lovely place with courtyard, pool, jacuzzi - very safe feeling. Staff brilliant, so helpful and friendly. About a mile and a half down the road from Living Desert. Loved my room - comfy bed, very clean, combination of modern and antique furnishings with great attention to detail _ i will be back and stay for longer.
Review 42:Casa Larrea is very clean. Our room was very spacious. We showed up really late to our check-in because we had a late game at the Empire Polo Fields and the owner waited for us until we arrived. She is a very nice lady and the breakfast was ready and she made sure that we had everything we needed. There are many restaurants and shops at walking distance.
Review 43:Bathroom was small but shower was great.
Review 44:The courtyard with the pool and spa. Plenty of seating outdoors. Breakfast included. Huge room with a bed that seemed bigger than king size. Walking distance to El Paseo. Private patio.
Review 45:For us there were no cons.
Review 46:Quite enclave, great location and very clean rooms. Nice pool, hot tub and inviting grounds, even a patio with each room. Continental breakfast had many choices. We are going back! Kim (the owner) is warm and friendly.
Review 47:room walls a little thin
Review 48:great location steps to El Paseo, beautiful centre courtyard with good size pool, all rooms open to the courtyard, very quiet, and Kim & Frank are the perfect hosts

Review 53:Just off of El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert.. Far enough away for solitude..walking distance to everything needed. Hate to leave a positive reviewafraid of to many people showing up but only fair as the place was anawesome change of pace from hectic socal!!
Review 54:Cozy freindly and it's like visiting a loving aunt... If something is not five stars, you can't even think about it. You just enjoy the stay and feel so welcomed and pampered...
Review 55:Nothing - it was perfect.
Review 56:The owners provided us with a lovely, intimate place to relax. Beautiful grounds and pool, clean and well appointed rooms and the best customer service I have ever received at a hotel. Kim and Frank have created a warm and inviting atmosphere and I can hardly wait to return.
Review 57:The interior decor needs updating.
Review 58:Staying at the Casa Larrea Inn is not at all like staying at a hotel. Yes, there are individual rooms, but it feels a lot like staying at someone's home. The rooms are comfortably furnished, and most everything is well-maintained. As a location, its right off Paseo in Palm Desert.
Review 59:The location was great relative to El Paseo, and the feeling that this very well maintained older property invoked of the classic desert resort experience.
Review 60:Kim and Frank are gracious hosts. Upon my arrival, they invited me out to dinner. They made me feel like family without being intrusive. The place is older and not fancy, but the room was spacious and the salt water pool lovely - large and clean.
Review 61:The owner went out of her way to provide me a comfortable room with very nice light colored décor. I really appreciated her effort.
