Reviews for Franciscan Guest House
Review 1:This is a very simple accommodation, which I was expecting. No hairdryer so you should bring your own. What I really didn't like was that only one side of the bed had a nightstand. If you were on the other side it was too dark to read in bed. In fact, the entire room had inadequate light for reading. Even though the location was good, next time I would sacrifice location for better accommodation.
Review 2:I liked getting my own towels out of the linen closet if I needed more! The carpet looked newish and the bathroom was clean. Bed was comfortable. The guest house is in a good location - close to town and the beach.
Review 3:Not a big deal, but I was surprised they did not supply shampoo.
Review 4:The beautiful grounds, peaceful and quiet could walk down to river , along a path with many beautiful statues. The chapel was lovely and the history interesting, many services you could attend. Gift shop lovely and you could leave your car and walk everywhere.
Review 5:A unique guest house. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are cozy. Breakfast not to be missed! We were able to walk to the beach as well as to town for dinner
Review 6:noise level from hallways and between rooms; front foyer and check in area could easily be updated/cleaned up/uncluttered for better first impression
Review 7:Location, staff, breakfast, good bathroom set up (shelves! yay!) great showers
Review 8:Like a college dorm room. It is a monastery afterall. Great location..only 15 min walk to town. Beautiful grounds with sculptures and walking paths to the river harbour. Breakfast included. A steal for what I paid (85 tax Inc in early oct). If you're looking for a resort, this isn't it. If looking for cheap and clean it is.
Review 9:Small beds, doubles
Review 10:Great location , a walk downtown. Honor system to get supplies for room, example, more bath towels! Coffee and hot water available 24 hrs
Review 11:The room was shabby, dirty and smelled musty. The room had ants and spiders. The door to the room didn't lock properly making us very uneasy about sleeping there. There was so much noise from other rooms we couldn't hear the TV, which by the way looked like it was from the 1970's. The grounds were beautiful. However, there are so many visitors to the Abbey that the traffic was constant and there were screaming kids all over the lawn for the two days we were there. No peace, no quiet, terrible stay and would not recommend this location at all.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Stayed at many places and sometimes the bed is what causes us to not go back, the bed at the Franciscan was great, no backache! Very clean, food was plain but good The surroundings are beautiful and the beach only a 1/2 mile walk
