Reviews for Lipa Bay Resort

Review 1:I'm very disappointed in the Lipa Bay staff. We wanted to go to Ang Thong National Marine Park and we asked the receptionist to book the trip for us. He did it but he didn't tell us that all the Marine Park was closed for visiting. So instead of seeing beautiful view of the park, we just had a boat trip around the park, short snorkeling and a lunch in fishermen village on the island nearby. We pay 1600THB per person and didn't go to any of the Park's islands, we didn't hike to the viewpoint, didn't see the Emerald Lake, didn't kayaking between the small islands, didn't spend time on the beach just because guy from the hotel didn't tell us about it and probably just want to earn some commision from selling us this trip.

Review 2:Good location, nice pool, clean rooms and good food

Review 3:No password for wifi but you have to wait a long time to connect it. The location is not very good, there is noting around the hotel and the 7-11shop is 20mins walk away.

Review 4:It was difficult to find and the breakfast was very basic. They need to put a sign on the main road. It's a small resort and the pool is small.

Review 5:The room was nice and big , also the beach.

Review 6:the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, perfect for honeymoon if you looking for peace, relaxation and rest. No restaurants around neither shops, only 1 massage place which is overpriced.

Review 7:Excellent service from the staff 5* Nice quiet and empty beach Amazing rooms and bathroom Next door to Niki Beach so you are paying lower price for the same view. Great swimming pool. All amazing but too quiet for me as i was forced to rest and i am action person.

Review 8:Maybe more food options.A A Bit away from the main buzzing areas, but not a problem if you can travel around on a bike or Car.

Review 9:Its very close to the Nathon Pier, where most of the ferry's take off. Peaceful Beach Property. Closer to the Na Muang Waterfall

Review 10:No hot water(but we didnt mind and also did not report it), faulty airconditioning and the bed smelled like mosquito repellant.

Review 11:Nice pool and great breakfast. The restaurant is also really good and not too expensive.

Review 12:The wifi connection was really bad, the free breakfast could have been done better. Suggestion to put spoons in the rooms.

Review 13:Staff was friendly, we got a free upgrade. Environment was clean, quiet and perfect for relaxation. Pool was clean and the facilities were just right!

Review 14:The beach was average and location isolated if you are looking for nightlife.

Review 15:We stayed 5 nights here and really liked the place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The price for our stay was really good value. The security man at night was very good helping me to find my girlfriend after she had a tantrum and disappeared without telling me where she was going lol.

Review 16:Despite serving good food, the waitress got all our orders wrong during lunch.

Review 17:Serene and comfortable location definitely worth more than what was paid for. Beautiful view of the sunset. Staff were also very friendly. Food was considerably good as well.

Review 18:Retaurant quality is questionable.

Review 19:my partner and I had a great time at Lipa Bay Resort. We spent 3 days in Bo Phut and then moved to Lipa Bay which is just beautiful!!! It was definitely worth spending some quiet time. Location is good as there are fancy resorts left and right which you can leisurely walk in and use. Staff? AMAZING. They also provide taxi service for cheaper than actual taxi as local taxi will rip you off. Call them and ask for pick up. It's worth picking up the phone. Also to experience sunset choose sea view which is in the main building, instead of bungalows.

Review 20:The walls are paper thin & the creatures will keep you up at night and not close to anything.

Review 21:Nice beach but no shade. Great pool. Daytime quiet location.

Review 22:We stayed for 5 days and very plain breakfast, same thing by the menu every day was a little too much. Plus what was in the menu and what they gave you were two different things. The sea in the afternoon was like a swamp -shallow and not so pretty Far from decent places to eat. The only one in walking distance we could find was in a hotel near by, lipa lovely resort. The restaurant at our hotel was not so good either. Ants in the room, otherwise a wonderful small cosy hotel

Review 23:Quite new rooms (we lived in the main building), clean, beautiful view, nice balcony. Wonderful sunsets. The pool is almost in the sea, which is wonderful especially during sunsets Shade from the palm trees and wonderful shallow sea in the mornings due to high tide. Good foot massage

Review 24:Friendly staff, especially the lady at reception, she always willing to help, with warm smile, thanks:)For the people who need to take ferry at lipa noi pier, here's a good location, just a 10min ride, they provided delivery service to the pier charge of 150B for 2 people, that's fine, cause it really convenient.recommend.

Review 25:Quite far from supermarket, few local restaurants

Review 26:We stayed on the second floor overlooking the bungalows with a view of the sea, recommended especially at sundown. Competive priced rooms

Review 27:It does not alike resort at all. More like a budgeted mini hotel. The website photo gallery should include the exterior of the entrance towards the hotel. No extra pillows, hard to sleep. Room is a bit dusty, I do my own cleaning. No toiletries like toothbrush and paste, we have to walk far to buy from the shop. No coffee making set. Would still think the daily rate 1800THB a bit pricey.Location was bad, need to get scooter to go anywhere. Staff speak improper English. No buffet breakfast but fixed set (cost about 209THB). Bicycle is free to use but it is rusty, hardly for me to cycle properly on the stony rocky path. No nice view but chalet rooftops view directly from the balcony. Costly car shuttle to the Raja Ferry Port (150THB), if you can get other local to transfer, you can get at 60THB. Scooter rental from outside cost about 200THB daily but need your passport.

Review 28:Breakfast pancake with banana, very near to ferry port (7 min to ferry port), easy to plan and catchup flight with AirAsia at Surathani (1pm)

Review 29:- Lack of privacy due to the close allocation of the bungalows next to each other which makes to have curtains all the time closed. Toned windows or extra curtails could be a solution. Also our room was close to the road so we at some points the noises from there were pretty loud - Prices for extra services (taxi, tickets to Full Moon Part..) given by hotel staff were higher than available nearby in the area. - VISA machine at the reception did not work at the moment of our check-out which gave extra stress

Review 30:- We loved green area, trees and plants everywhere which made a nice atmosphere! - Interior of the rooms is very cosy and comfortable with the use of natural materials, the room you want to stay in. And so spacious bathroom! Especially we liked the real tree growing inside the bathroom and used as a part of interior - environmental friendly solution :) - Although hotel personnel did not speak good English, we found a common language to understand each other. Staff is very helpful and tries to make your stay comfortable - Beach is nothing special but sea view at the breakfast is wonderful, which creates a real tropical feeling - Breakfast choice could be wider as on the 3rd morning we were pretty bored from the eggs. - Bikes are available for rent at the hotel so you can use them straight upon your arrival

Review 31:The location is Very far from town or other restaurants. Of you are looking for peace and quiet it is ok, But 4 days is more than enough. You cannot Pay by creditcard! they tell you the machine is not working But i read this already on booking. So i sis not believe it anymore.

Review 32:The restaurant is really good. swimming pool is Nice as Well.

Review 33:suggest some nets at windows for privacy due to bad weather we spent a lot of time in the room which we did not expect to!

Review 34:Miew was great on reception . Really good rooms comfortable inside and outside shower and a bath too. Clean room, everything you need fridge safe hairdryer toiletries mozzie zapper TVs beach towels good value for money nice breakfast.

Review 35:The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to help us and make our stay enjoyable. We stayed in the Residence which was spacious and away from night clubs - highly recommended if you are travelling with young children.

Review 36:it is a long way foremost things but that didn't bother us as we just wanted to chill

Review 37:just so chilled and quiet. Pool and beach area beautiful, use of free kayaks. Couldn't get taxi one rainy night so they took us to restaurant we wanted to go to at a fraction of price of taxi same when we went waterfalls and to the ferry. Very helpful and pleasant. Soft beds and pillows.excellent food and choice

Review 38:Charged you for literally everything, including using the toilet in the lobby while checking in and taking a shower when you get out of the ocean. Staff spoke very poor English and made mistakes booking our ferry to koh Tao - we stayed specifically to be next to the pier and ended up having to taxi back to the north shore to get the ferry because they didn't look up which piers the ferries left from. Location is in the middle of nowhere, literally nothing but shacks and a 711 around. Beach is about 15 meters wide for the private part.

Review 39:Very well kept premises, everything clean and comfortable. Best sleep so far in Thailand. Restaurant location is fantastic, right on the water.

Review 40:The position... you're in the middle of nowhere. No markets, no bars, nothing. Whatever you need, either you catch a taxi or you rent a scooter. And you need to ride 20 minutes to get to the closest town (excluding Nathon, which is where you take the ferry). The restaurant closes at 9PM... what???? The beach is nothing special, but this is not their fault. I ended up sleeping in the place, but always driving 30 minutes to Chaweng for a good bath and nice dinners/party.

Review 41:The hotel is not bad, small and intimate. The reception works fine, the staff is kind and helpful. The thai food at the restaurant is freshly cooked, even though they have no barbecue for fresh seafood. The swimming pool is perfect, right in front of the beach with is facing west: perfect for a great sunset. WiFi is pretty stable, allows VoIP calls.

Review 42:Excellent beach – sandy, shallow Nice bungalows Location can be a plus or a minus. Good that it is away from the crowd, but to get to the nearest town you would need a bike or a car

Review 43:The location is really too bad,it is not easy to find it,you have to spend about one hour from airport and other beachs from this hotel. And the facilities there are also not so good.

Review 44:The staffs there are friendly

Review 45:The location was brillant. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. We had a sea facing room on top floor which was lovely, saw sunsets every night food and drinks were cheapish, dont have the lasagne it was tiny enough for a child of 5. Lovely place to stay to unwind right on the beach.

Review 46:- sometimes we felt some strange smell from the pipes in the bathroom (but it's probably quite a common problem in Koh Samui... and it wasn't terrible, one just has to keep the doors closed)

Review 47:- very nice view from the room; - the bed was really comfortable; - free bicycles from the hotel and scooters rental at the reception - it was convenient; - wonderful garden.

Review 48:Very little room to sit around the pool. Not much choice for breakfast

Review 49:The upstairs room we had was great with a nice view and balcony. Good sized room and comfortable big bed.

Review 50:Peaceful and quite place for those who love nature and want to avoid crowds of tourists. Good service, pretty swimming pool in the beach. Free of charge bicycles.

Review 51:Far from everything

Review 52:Staff were excellent, could not do more

Review 53:Hotel is far from central. But a nice, quiet & clean environment, friendly staff whom serve with a smile.

Review 54:Only stayed for one night.

Review 55:Only stayed for one night but seemed lovely. Very helpful staff, booked ferries and transport for us.

Review 56:Rooms need privacy curtains

Review 57:On the beach

Review 58:There are a lot of house lizards in the hotel. That's a little creepy

Review 59:Good location if you want to catch the ferry early next morning.

Review 60:Location Staff Prices at restaurant Pool Very close to beach

Review 61:No supermarket in walking distance

Review 62:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 63:little bit far from center

Review 64:beautiful resort nice and very helpful staff, even if they cant speak english good, they do their best quiet location

Review 65:Great value for money

Review 66:good but you can find cheaper hotels around,

Review 67:Location a bit isolated. Taxi needed to get to shops or any attractions

Review 68:The friendly and helpful staff. The food good and inexpensive

Review 69:Seaside villa with ants. Stuff not best in english. The beach is supposed to be very good, but I think it is just average beach, really nothing special.

Review 70:Room with seaview was pretty good and clean.

Review 71:The beach could be more clean.

Review 72:Tropical paradise. Friendly staff, rooms cleaned every day, safe and quiet, delicious meals and nice pool, long sandy beach with warm and clear water.

Review 73:Nothing.

Review 74:Best hotel/resort we have stayed on our trip to Thailand. Very well organized & efficient staff & service. Literally there is nothing they couldn't help you with. Very modern comfortable & clean. Wish stayed much longer.

Review 75:Ants and other bugs in bungalow, as it may be expected. Beware that nothing is within walking distance, no supermarkets, no other places.

Review 76:Lovely bungalows! Very spacious semiopen bathroom. Pool is nicely situated as if you swim in sea and is great for pictures. Very quiet location and beach quite away from crowd, yet all places are accessible by motorbike (best rent a bike from across the ferry port in Nathan).

Review 77:The location is excellent if you want to stay in a quieter and less crowded area. The resort is beautiful once you get inside so don't feel discouraged by the appearance from the beach side. We stayed in the garden view bungalow and it was beautiful! Food was also very good and there are several other restaurants very close by if you fancy some variety.

Review 78:The beach isn't the best you'll see on Koh Samui and the hotel could do with a few more sun beds.

Review 79:The staff couldn't do enough for you. The food was really nice and very good value.

Review 80:- huge disadvantage is sanitary sewer right on Lipa Noi beach so feces is everywhere in water.

Review 81:+ Bungalow, surroundings, very peaceful place, perfect for couples.

Review 82:Receptionist don't speak english, there were 2 geckos in the room, and hotel didnt explain us the cheapest way of travelling on the island..tried to let us use by them orginised relatively expensive taxi.

Review 83:Ocean view was nice, location was close to raja Boat pier.

Review 84:The day before we arrived, someone's leg went through the pooldeck's rotten wood, ended up at the hospital with a seriously injured knee. Followed 2 days straights of carpenters fixing the only access to the pool. From 8 am to 7 pm: banging, drilling, sawing, etc. Impossible to access the pool without climbing on one of the slippery outside walls of the 1,5m high infinity pool. Very rude kitchen staff, serving an overpriced, bad breakfast, less than average overall cleanliness (room barely done). Last but not least, on our last day, my leg fell through the rotten wood of the pool-deck: funny how it happened to me only a few days after it already happened to a guest! Sprained ankle, staff laughing about it, barely an apology or a solution to provide, all before one of the kitchen staff insulted both my girlfriend and I, and then threatened to hit her. My biggest concern is that the hotel management did not fix the pool-deck entirely, knowing about the issue, and choosing to ignore it. When I confronted the hotel owner about this, she explained that the workers (quote) "did not have enough wood to fix it all" (unquote). This is outrageous, and plain negligence to guests' safety. What if a kid went through the 2m concreted floor ditch underneath the pool-deck? Thank you Lipa Bay Resort. You've lost two loyal customers, and thanks for the injury. PS: I'm a regular traveller and user of Booking.com, this is the first time I felt compelled to write a review and warn other fellow travelers about this place. You have been warned.

Review 85:We stayed for a week last year, and it was just fine. This year was a total nightmare tough. See below.

Review 86:beach could have had the rubbish removed and why oh why does the restaurant/bar close so early leaving you stranded with nothing but the mini bar for food and drinks?

Review 87:Overall a fantastic resort accommodation wise

Review 88:The food could of been better and a few more loungers round the pool could be useful

Review 89:The pool is fantastic and the staff were very welcoming. The room was a nice size and the bathroom was great, very spacious with bath tub and seperate shower. Wifi was good and the overall atmosphere was nice.

Review 90:On check out the bill for mini bar and restaurant was higher than expected and on further examination they had charged us for extra stuff we didn't have, this was however sorted out and we got our money back but I would advise others to check. One of the waitresses was very unpleasant serving us. There is nothing around the hotel in terms of shops.

Review 91:The infinity pool right on the beach was fantastic. We stayed in a sea view room which was very nice and spacious they even upgraded us for free the second night. I thought this was the nicest resort on the stretch of beach as it was compact and had the nicest pool, garden villas looked amazing too. Free use of kayaks and bikes. Food was pretty good and cheap. The main lady in the restaurant was very happy and helpful even put music on for us by the pool and danced with us!

Review 92:Very shallow sea at a distance of about seventy feet

Review 93:It was a wonderful vacation. Bungalow buried in green plants and breathtaking sunsets. Great very friendly staff. Pictures with description bungalow ootvetsvuyut reality.

Review 94:Restaurant was awful, breakfast very poor, and the entire restaurant needed a complete clean or updating. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a room with a slightly better view, only to be charged an extra £250 upon checking out. Would not return!

Review 95:The staff were very polite and attentive and the beach location very good.

Review 96:It's not easy to get around but see above comment re taxis from the hotel. Just build it into budget.

Review 97:The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful . The location is great for relaxation. The surroundings are beautiful. The hotel is in a quieter area of samui but the hotel does great, safe and reasonably priced taxis so you can get about but just bear it in mind for budget. It's worth paying for taxis to stay here though as it is so beautiful.

Review 98:Really nice little resort with a really friendly stuff, great restaurant, awesome pool almost on the beach (you relax in the pool and looking at the sea). We had a villa which is located in the resort garden and it was really great! A huge bad, panoramic windows (2 walls were not walls but all balcony windows). In the morning we took bicycles which were free for hotel guests and took a ride. There is one nice temple not far from a hotel and one art center/museum. It's not finished yet but everyone is welcome there - very nice, peaceful and mysterious place - definitely go there!!! Breakfast was not so rich but nice :) We also liked a beach - great sand, water and enough beach chairs. We liked this place so much and were a bit upset we have it for 1 night only. Would we come back if someone asked? We would for sure!

Review 99:Staff werent very pleasant. Beach parasols were based in cement buckets, very poor looking.

Review 100:The room was lovely, very pretty. They also made a good Mojito.

Review 101:Except for 4 rooms on top floor in the main building no view on the beach.

Review 102:Hidden from the noisy spots on Koh Samui. Located at nice beach, private swimming pool. Very helpful staff. Bike rent on the spot very useful.

Review 103:set breakfast only :-)

Review 104:excellence service, staff friendly, swimming pool, outdoor bath, fresh air, not expensive for shuttle van and rent a motorcycle, delicious food.

Review 105:Nice and quiet location on Koh Samui. If you want to avoid the crowds, this is the place to stay. Well-kept resort, friendly staff and beach access. There are a few nice restaurants about 500 m down the main road.

Review 106:It is quite far away from local things to do. There are some interesting markets a short bike ride away but it would be nice to walk to some other food option. Lucky it didn't matter - the food at the hotel was great.

Review 107:Brilliant sunset location. Nice little beach. Good chef and really friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Review 108:Nothing really, very good value for money. We booked 2 days but stayed 4 in the end.

Review 109:Very nice and helpful staff, great location if you look for a little quieter neighborhood off the beaten track, not swamped with tourists and loud bars. You can always go to one of the main beaches for a beer or twelve after all :)

Review 110:Restaurant too pricy and taste too much european, I prefer to eat at the local places

Review 111:Breakfast (pancake with bananas) Room with a sea view was fabulous Lovely swimming pool and great beach Romantic location

Review 112:Very familiar hotel. Friendly, helpfull stuff. Nice, clean room (standard room). Fascinanting pool. Beautiful beach. Amazing sunset !!! If you want a quite place to relax... This hotel is ideal! And if you want some adventure rent a scooter and discover the island yourself...

Review 113:Everything was great! They went above and beyond!!! I needed a dentist and they not only took me but waited an hour and a half and brought me back. Rooms are very well maintained and nothing was ever to difficult to arrange. Highly recommend

Review 114:nothing

Review 115:very helpful staff and the owner. no other hotel or resort or supermarket nearby. but can rent car or bike at the receptionist. the price is the same as the store in the center. 150B taxi to the ferry

Review 116:Hotel itself is good, nice villas and huge bathrooms, nice pool, during high tide not much sand, water comes almost to the pool. The location is a bit away from anything - so even going for a lunch 15 minutes walk to Lipa Noi - where not much choice or catching taxi everytime to somewhere else.

Review 117:The staff is superfriendly and competent. Any remark is taken seriouslyand imediate action is taken. Lipabay resort is open to the (public)beach. So it doesn'nt feel like a walled prison for the wealthy likemany other mostly expensive resorts. We recommend lipa bay resort toeverybody comming to koh samui

Review 118:Me and my friend were there. The pool is clean. Its just 7 min away from the Rajja Ferry Port. The beach is very nice and excellent food. Staff were very cooperative and they had arranged a 6 hrs tour for us in A/C car.

Review 119:Located on the west coast of Koh Samui you are far from a lot of the east coast attractions. The neighbouring resort Nikki beach plays music very loud right through the weekend. When out for the day we would come back to find the bathroom creating a strange smell in our room, like that of a caravan. Their breakfast is limited, no buffet on offer.

Review 120:Stunning facilities, court yard fish pond with gorgeous wooden rooms & decorated bathrooms. The size of bed in honeymoon suite was the widest bed we've ever seen. Room 1 is comfortably located on the shore of a secluded beach next to the pool & restaurant. They have a great movie channel in your room to entertain for when the sun goes down. Very friendly staff who helped us book many of our plans & traveling. They also have bicycles, scooters & kayaks for their guests to use, along with their own taxi who can take to to the pier or bus stop free of charge.

Review 121:Restaurant is okay for drinks and breakfast, but would advice you other restaurants in the neighborhood for dinner Small pool But hey, it's not expensive :)

Review 122:Nice bungalow to stay in Very helpful staff (drove me for free to the dentist, when I needed one) Nice and quiet neighborhood

Review 123:1. we took a motobike and give it back in good condition. Next day we found cheaper one and rented there. But staff started to suspected us that we damaged a bike. However they did not check it when we returned, they bothered us 2 days with questions. 2. Cuisine in the hotel is not tasty.

Review 124:The room in Bungalow are fabulous! They have very nice design and clean. There is big bathroom and huge bad for 4 person. Even rooms in the main building are in good conditions. Nice breakfast, however prices a bit higher then avarage. Nice pool, beach, you can take kayak.

Review 125:Bed is very hard. last guest shower shop was still in the room. Bath tub water not draining.

Review 126:Location classical room style, pool and beach. Helpful staffs

Review 127:Staff was really kind qnd helpful. We liked the location of the resort too, as we were looking for a quite place for relaxing. Resort provided motorbike for rent, so we were able to cruise trough the island. Having a massage in the sunset at the pavilon near to the beach was unforgetable. Food and coctails were good and affordable. The environment provides really nutrition for eyes and soul. At the end we had problems with the transfer ordered in Bangkok, and hotel staff kindly helped us out in solving this issue.

Review 128:we wanted a quiet place to stay and we found this hotel. I have to say we took a very good decision. Staff is very friendly, it is a quiet place, swimming pool at the beach, not many tourists and clean. They have nice bungalows close to the beach. I would highly recommend it!!!! they cook good food also!

Review 129:Sea was a bit dirty since it low season, though the beach was cleaned.

Review 130:Friendly and helpfull staff that made our stay at Lipa Noi smooth and comfortable. Cosy and stylish bungalows, green ambience. The place is for peaceful vacation far away from crowds and noise. Free bicycles and kayaks allow to explore the surroundings.
