Reviews for P.Y. Guest House

Review 1:Breakfast is not great, and owner did not understand vegetarian so we ended up paying for a meal we couldn't eat. But that is really our fault for not being able to express our needs in Thai very well. Location is a little far from restaurants so you have to take a taxi or tuk tuk everywhere. Nothing bad about our stay. Would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone.

Review 2:Stayed here with my teenage son in December and loved it. Owner is so sweet and helpful. The ambiance is lovely and the rooms are gorgeous. Every tuk tuk driver had no problems finding the place. Is conveniently close to the bus station. Great value for money. Would stay here again, no questions.

Review 3:It's Thailand.. The mosquitoes and the dogs should start fighting each other.

Review 4:Very, very kind owners. Breakfast is good. Their bikes are good and cheap.

Review 5:P.Y. Guest House is situated in quiet place but not far to city center (bus station). Accomodation is beautiful - best we had in Thailand (for this price). Hotel has very nice garden. The owner is awesome - really helpful. We regret, that we could not spent more time here. Hope to be there again.

Review 6:We loved it! Such a great quiet guest house. The lush inviting garden and warm welcome by the the owner and his wife. Very helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend it Very comfortable beds

Review 7:Nothing.. Everything was great

Review 8:The owners were extremely friendly and helped with finding our way around kanchanaburi and bus out to hell fire pass & they even used their own car to take us to the tour bus station and train station. The accomodation rooms were really nice and clean. Great relaxing outdoor eating area. They also have scooters and push bikes to rent at great prices. I highly recommend this place and I will always stay here on my next visits.

Review 9:For us the only minus was breakfast set - it is American breakfast. Being in Thailand for us mean that breakfast should be in Thai style.

Review 10:Helpful staff Value for money Rooms

Review 11:the only thing i can fault is location, its a bit far away from the town centre however within walking distance to bus station and all attractions

Review 12:very clean, spacious room with all required equipment, very tasty breakfast, owners very helpful, they dropped us off at the bus station and explained how to move aroud the area, beautiful garden

Review 13:Beautiful and unique property - lots of plants and you feel very private and cozy. Very comfy beds and air conditioned rooms. The bicycle rental was great for getting around town. The hosts were super helpful - they made sure I was well oriented and knew where the main attractions were, provided a map, and were always ready with coffee and tea. They were also kind enough to let me check in early and stored my bags for most of the next day.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:Stayed for 4 nights. The owners are fantastic - on arrival we were provided with a map, asked what we wanted to see whilst in the area and given great advice regarding the best ways/transport/times etc in order to accomplish it and on the odd occasion they even dropped us at the bus depot!! The whole ambiance of the place is charming, relaxing and traditional. The rooms are great too - air con, private shower/bathroom and fridge. The location is fine - yes it is not in the centre of the city however it's only a short tuk tuk away - ask for Mrs Saeng to collect you!!! Breakfast is also good too - three courses - croissant/toast, eggs/ham/ and water melon to finish. We would stay here again for sure!!!

Review 16:Fabulous place and staff!!! They helped us plan our time there, as well as provided rides to the bus station, cooked bfast and such a warm environment!! Thumbs up!!

Review 17:The guesthouse was several kilometres from the main restaurants / popular tourist area. It was also in an area that was difficult to find a tuk tuk / taxi so we ended up walking for miles! The toilets were ensuite, but they were outside, which wasn't great for mosquitos

Review 18:The staff were really friendly and helpful

Review 19:Simple but stylish accommodation in a beautiful quiet garden setting with the river Kwai and some very good restaurants just around the corner. Great service, great value, totally recommended if you're staying just 1 night or several nights in Kanchanaburi!

Review 20:The place is really lovely. Rooms off a beautiful gardened walkway and other quirky seated areas in the garden. On arrival the couple who runs the place sits you down, gives you a drink and goes thru a huge map of the town and also surrounding areas and lets you know options. So friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and have their own partial outdoor shower which is great.

Review 21:Way way too far from the train station and no private transfer offered at arrival or departure. A very long walk and hard to find public transport.

Review 22:Acceptable rooms. Nice green plants around the rooms. Peaceful area.

Review 23:The location is not so good, its far from bus station and also far from the bridge, so you need to rent a bicycle. Breakfast was 100 baht, but it was nothing special, just toast and eggs, so I would recommend going somewhere else.

Review 24:The owner is really nice and tries to make your stay as nice as possible! The rooms were beautiful and very clean and the whole guesthouse is very green and lovely.

Review 25:The guesthouse is a little bit far from the river quai bridge (5 km) and there are not that many restaurants near the guesthouse. We did not really like the restaurants close by as they were to touristy.

Review 26:The owner and his wife are really nice. They arranged day trips for us and even took us to the bus station in their private car (for free). The owners are very helpful and advice what you can do and visit during you stay. The neighbourhoud is quiet and there is a really nice garden/terrace where you can have breakfast. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. Really goog price for what you get. It is also possible to have breakfast (100 Baht/person).

Review 27:The staff responded to every request in a timely fashion, and provided many options and information for local activities. We were provided with good service in the mornings, a free shuttle back to the bus terminal, and a checkout that included storage of our luggage onsite, until we finished our last day in the area. The area was good for us, as we were near enough to all the sightseeing activities, restaurants, and the River Kwai. It was a tranquil spot, and we will return again.

Review 28:It is truly a wonderful place. The friendly hosts, ready to help with everything from organizing transfer to the excursion program. The stunning design of the hotel, comfortable rooms.

Review 29:Everything.....................................20 out of 10 Really? I don't understand why some guests reporting top reviews don't credit 10 as rating?

Review 30:Keep the doors closed, or you'll have mosquitoes. It is not close to the centre of Kanchanaburi, which is a pity if you want to do something at night.

Review 31:Very friendly staff, good rooms, funny thing: bathroom is outside. When we arrived the owner told us about all the good attractions to go and see. Definitely worth it: - Hell Fire Pass + train back to Kanchanaburi - Erawan waterfalls, if you're tired just stop at level 3 or 4, also good swimming. Level 7 wasn't really spectacular.

Review 32:The bathroom is semi-outside and we found a cockroach in the shower.

Review 33:Small scale guesthouse wih super friendly owners who really make you feel welcome and are super helpful. Free tea and coffee on their cosy terrace, good wifi. You can borrow bicycles for a very low price per day to easily get to interesting sites in Kanchanaburi.

Review 34:Only slight niggle - location a little further out of town. However meant for a quiet stay and authentic experience in a very local neighbourhood!

Review 35:Fantastic guest house, very accommodating hosts. Helped to arrange all day trips with excellent precision even taking me to the bus station on the back of a moped. Room was fantastic with very cool semi outdoor bathroom/garden. Laundry service was superb and breakfast also very good.

Review 36:Nothing

Review 37:Best place we have stayed in Thailand, they really care about everythingmaking guests feel so comfortable. The place is beautiful like a smallparadise. It is worth to book tickets through them because they justhelp you and do not charge that means it is cheaper than booking throughthe tat. Free coffee and tee. Lovely place! We wished we could havestayed longer!

Review 38:The guest house is situated in the center, within biking distance of all attractions. Bikes are available. The guest house has a lovely, peaceful garden that makes you relax the moment you enter the gate. the owners are very friendly and helpful and make you feel at home. So much that our daughter was heart broken when we had to move on.

Review 39:Great location lovely people who went out of their way to get us around the sights in our very limited Time there. Excellent we even got took to some extra sights along the way all in our time

Review 40:Breakfast was very basic. It's located a bit out of town and not by the river either

Review 41:Amazingly helpful owners who go out their way to make your stay comfortable and help organise excursions and trips. The rooms are very comfortable for the price

Review 42:Very friendly owners who were very helpful during our stay. The male owner took us around kanchanaburi in his mini bus allowing us to see all the sights and was very patient waiting with us. Room was nice and clean and beautiful scenery around the guesthouse garden.

Review 43:The owners make this place. They do not speak great English but they can still communicate and be so lovely. The guesthouse itself is lovely and homely and comfortable with gorgeous little gardens and places to sit. The owner drove us around all day one day to different places we wanted to go for, even stopping for a drink along the way courtesy of him. He was one of the nicest owners I've ever met.

Review 44:nothing!

Review 45:The thai neighbourhood is great! The staff is incredibly friendly and warm-hearted The rooms, the "main room", the whole set up of the place is fantastic, designed with love in every detail! A descent street market is just around the corner!

Review 46:that we could only stay 1 night due to limited time.

Review 47:friendly owners, clean rooms, quite environment in old part of town with some excellent river restaurants nearby, bike rental, super breakfast for only 100 baht, owner can arrange private trips for you.

Review 48:I had some issues accessing the WiFi using my tablet, however the host provided a computer so I used that instead. Other guests seemed to have few problems accessing the WiFi.

Review 49:The owner tried his best to help us find our way to our destinations (Elephant World, Bridge on the River Kwai and Hellfire Pass). I had some issues accessing the WiFi, and he tried to assist me. The couple (owners) work hard to make sure that you have the best stay possible. The attentiveness of our hosts made this Guesthouse, by far, the most pleasant experience of our vacation in Thailand.

Review 50:The breakfast wasn't my sort of thing - fried eggs, slice of ham, a couple of dubious looking bright orange sausages, sliced white bread toast. But this was very minor compared to everything else about PY.

Review 51:The incredible helpfulness and kindness of the owners. Helping with sightseeing arrangements for the day, dropping you to bus or train station, making sure you've got the right tickets, and are in the right place at the right time. The genuine charm of the guest house and the pride the owners take in it.

Review 52:The place is hard to find, especially if you are alone and without transportation. But when you inform the front desk that you have arrived, someone will come and pick you up.

Review 53:The place has a great ambiance and the English-speaking owners are really nice and helpful. When you arrive, they will orient you with the things you can do in Kanchanaburi. They also have bicycles and motorbikes for rent.

Review 54:They could improve their English. We had some difficulties in communication with the owners, but eventually we understood each other. There was no safety deposit box in the room.

Review 55:The accommodation is simple, but offers everything you need. It has a nice vibe as it has a lot of flowers and small decorations everywhere. You feel surrounded by nature. If you arrive by bus you can easily walk to the guesthouse (cca 1 km).

Review 56:mosquitos

Review 57:the owner are sooo sweet & helpfull. the bungalows are located between the beautiful garden wich gives you shadow on the thai summer heat of 41celius we had during the day.really relaxing plase. all in one we loved our stay there very much.

Review 58:Push bikes a bit old but cheap & good for getting around town eg. To the bridge over the river Kwai. If you want to be right by the bridge & most of the bars the location isn't perfect about 5Km away. We liked being in this more local part of town.

Review 59:The overall ambience of the property & garden in which it is set was a real winner. The staff were really friendly & helpful spending ages helping us decide on the best way to visit Erawan falls & Hell fire pass in one day. Push bike & motorbike rental we used both, free drop off at bus station. Good restaurant nearby. Free tea & coffee on arrival & throughout stay in reception area.

Review 60:This was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. There are only a few rooms so you get a more personal treatment. The room was comfortable but there are no extras like soap, shampoo, etc. This was not a problem for us but be prepared. The hosts were excellent and went beyond the usual help when we needed to make travel arrangements. Breakfast was plentiful and well worth the extra small amount. Bikes were provided if needed. There was a lovely garden setting to relax in.

Review 61:Owners were charecters, we enjoyed their company and found them extremely helpful. The gentleman acted as our taxi so we always had someone to take us where we needed to go. He even went so far as to chase down a bus we were in danger of missing. The location was great. There was a festival going on right next to the house when we were there so it was lively, but we got the impression that wasn't typical and it is normally much quiter. We felt like we were in a little bed and breakfast.

Review 62:none.

Review 63:We stayed only one night, but the feeling we had there we will keep for long time. As soon as you enter you will feel the calm and peace streaming from the beautiful wild and natural but very well-kept garden, the quiet music, from the small open entrance, the wind bells, the coolness coming from the plants...Every thing is made with love and measure and it is simple but somehow special. As a contrast to the noisy, busy, dusty Bangkok you are immediately relaxed and re-loaded . Like after spa therapy ;-) It's a family owned guest house with not many rooms, which makes you feel really homey. The walls of the rooms are all out of glass so you have the feeling you sleep directly in the garden. The woman and man are very kind and trying to help you, without any trace of the touristy push known in elsewhere. We used also the driving services of the man for a daily tour program around Kanchanaburi and going to Ayuthaya and we were very happy. We would go there again and I highly recommend it to everybody who wants to feel relaxed (especially coming directly from Bangkok). Don't expect luxury but it is also not purely for backpackers: it is a two-stars guest house, but the best two-stars ever!

Review 64:People so friendly and helpful, beautiful place and handy for the bridge over the river kwai by hiring push bikes. We were also given lifts to the centre for meals, the vegetarian cafe was recommended to us and was excellent. We were picked up from the guest house to go to Elephants World one day and Erawan National Park Waterfalls another, both trips fantastic and two of the best days of our holiday! (Take a good insect repellent as the beautiful gardens meant we did suffer bites)

Review 65:Quite away from the main drag, but they do offer bikes to rent at a very low cost.

Review 66:The staff (owners?) were extremely freindly and helpful. They helped me get a bus to Ayutthaya when I left and the breakfast was superb for 100 baht. Provided the best map Ive seen in Thailand and talked me through how to best enjoy Kanchanaburi. Would stay here again.

Review 67:Out of all the countless places we have stayed, we enjoyed P.Y guesthouse the most. The room was clean and well layed out, breakfast was really tasty, the facilities were great and the general look of the place was quirky and cute. The thing that makes this place stand out are the owners. They were so lovely and helpful and nothing ever seemed to be to much trouble. They showed us where to visit and where to eat, they let us rent a scooter, they even took us around and helped us when we had checked out. I was actually sad to leave the place. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Review 68:Bit far from main action, double was two separate beds pushed together. Very minor points.

Review 69:, free tea and coffee, the garden, the owners were lovely and helpful with planning our stay and ensuring we were xomfortsble. The bikes were a bit old but fine for riding around the town. Moped in excellent condition and worth the slightly extra money to avoid heading into town. Lift to bus station and assistance with buying right bus ticket. Nice restaurant nearby on the pier. Location near market.b

Review 70:Wifi not great but no big deal.

Review 71:The staff went out of their way to help you. Anything you needed they would get it for you. Great taxi service. Lovely quiet atmosphere. A 5 minute walk to a lovely spot by the river to eat and drink.

Review 72:The location was at times scary a lot of stray dogs around. Was a ten munute bike ride to the centre. Was close to theJEATH war musuem though and a couple of restaurants by the river. The cabin was nice but the door didnt lock and there was no safe so lacked security. Also didn't feel very private.

Review 73:Good wifi, very helpful owners

Review 74:Everything about our stay here was perfect. Wittaya and his wife were incredibly helpful and taxi / tour services were provided as well. Excellent wifi also helped make this the ideal place to stay for our weekend visiting hellfire pass and the Kwai bridge.

Review 75:Bed was comfortable Room was comfortable Shower hot Stayed extra 2nights Good value My husbands glasses broke and the owner kindly fixed them Organises tours for you Plenty of advice were to go Must visit the elephant world Bikes to hire

Review 76:The staff was incredibly helpful and nice. They gave us a ride to the bus station and helped us get the right transportation. The guest house was unique and pretty.

Review 77:The owner warns you not to walk past the temples late at night as a lot of dogs in packs bark and intimidate you, if you avoid this you are ok

Review 78:Very friendly couple.quirky clean, shaded accommodation. Safe, helpful knowledgable lady called Pik who couldn't do enough to help you. A little bit difficult to find initially but quite safe to walk back to and only 10 mins walk from the bus station, where night eating markets are readily available and cheap.. Reviews are good and very true. Would recommend this for a short visit stop over to see the cemeteries and river pictures of the Kwai bridge if you go to the jeeth museum nearby and take a long boat. 500baht for just us to see the cemetery down river at 0809. Good time as river was calm from boats while he waits for picture shots of the bridge.

Review 79:There was nothing we didn't like about the accomodation itself, but a word of warning for kanchanaburi visitors...the dogs around the temple, and generally in this area can be quite aggressive. We found it best to get around on bikes as they tend to give up easier when you whizz by.

Review 80:Firstly, the staff are incredible, the best we have come across so far on our trip. On our first outing, my girlfriend had the misfortune of being bitten by a dog, we went to the hotel and the owner swiftly cleaned and dressed the wound, like a pro. They were both fantastic in every respect. As for the rooms, they are clean and tidy, with water provided. They do cheap bike rental and a decent breakfast too.

Review 81:Made to feel very welcome, helped us plan our day trip to Hellfire Pass which would of been difficult without their help. Breakfast was beautiful. A tropical oasis would 100% stay here again.

Review 82:Tranquil atmosphere, with garden in quiet area.kind and caring owners, who went out of their way to help. Took us to train station and waited to ensure we departed safely.

Review 83:Lots of Mosquitos as bathroom open to outside. A bit far out, 5 kms from bridge at river Kwai but you can hire bikes from PY for 20 bhat. Purely Thai area so difficult to get a meal if you don't read/speak Thai.

Review 84:Pretty place with nice garden and friendly owners.

Review 85:Nothing I would recommend to anyone and definitely go back

Review 86:Staff were amazing the whole time. The place is so quaint and homely surrounded by plants it's stunning

Review 87:No fresh coffee in breakfast. Bars are a bit far away ( about 2 miles;)

Review 88:One of the nicest place we have stayed in Asia last two years. Really nice, helpfull and friendly owners, great and quiet atmosphere, clean and cosy rooms. Close to the bus station. Nice seafood restaurant nearby.

Review 89:Our only critism would be the guest rooms are all glass where guests are on full view unless you close the curtains, this is more an inconvenience rather than a problem

Review 90:The owner and his girlfriend were very helpful. When we arrived he greeted us with the offer of refreshment and gave us a map on which he indicated all local attractions and information on the area. The guest house is a garden of Eden where you least expect it.

Review 91:It's a little bit remote but Mr. PY is always willing to give you a free ride to the bus station. It is also possible to rent a bike for only a few baht.

Review 92:We had a very nice stay at the PY Guesthouse in Kanchanaburi. The rooms are nice and clean, it's very quite and the guesthouse has a small green garden where you get your breakfast or can enjoy a beer in the evening. They also help you plan your trips and give you good tips. I totally recommend this Guest house

Review 93:A little far out but we used bikes although this did mean it was quite and peaceful

Review 94:The friendliness and advice given by the owners. They couldn't do enough to help. Always with a smile. Lovell, lovely people.

Review 95:A small part of the bathroom wall and roof was opened so we had to keep the door closed to avoid mosquitos from coming in but you could not avoid them while you are in there

Review 96:Friendliness of the owner, the first thing she did when we arrived was to offer us a drink and show us all the highlights of the area in a map. Location is good to reach the temples in the south or the Erawan park. Room was clean. The whole setting of the garden is beautiful. We would stay again in P.Y.

Review 97:A little far from main town.

Review 98:Friendliness of staff. Helpful advice. Clean rooms. Bike hire 20thb for whole stay. Offer to give free transport to bus or train station . Would recommend.

Review 99:No negative points

Review 100:Very nice and helpfull owners, gave lots of information, even a map of the region with all the things to see. Borrowed us bikes for free and warned us for the dangerous dogs near the temple at night :-) Good breakfast.

Review 101:Went in December (dry season) and still some mosquitoes hard to keep out of the room.

Review 102:Owners were very nice, gave public transport advice for the waterfall and hellfire pass. They also took us the bus station every day and helped us find the right bus and ticket.

Review 103:The mosquito's were a little annoying but as long as you keep your doors closed and have insect repellant its fine.

Review 104:It was really relaxing to stay here. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help you. I would definitely recommend staying here and I would go back.

Review 105:Location. It was a bit further from the Kanchanaburi "hotspots". But still doable and you can rent bycicles/scooters from PY guesthouse for a small fee.

Review 106:The owner/manager is very friendly and gives you good advice for things to do around Kanchanaburi. He can offer tours but does not push for them. He also gives you information about the local busses etc...He drives you to the bus stop in the morning. The decoration of the PY guesthouse. Although the property is very small, it does not seem so. It is beautifully decorated. Rooms are ok. Nothing special but they do just fine.

Review 107:Nothing!

Review 108:The staff. They went far and beyond.and always with a smile. I stayed only two nights but I felt very looked after. If I could I will score then super excellent!!!

Review 109:Outstanding Guesthouse! With The nicest People on Earth! If there would be a heaven on earth....well P.Y. Guesthouse would be It. So nice..So peacefull. .So restfull. Great service and accomodation. To recommand for everyone!

Review 110:Perhaps a little far from town, therefore only a few restaurants nearby, but we hired a scooter from the owner(at almost double the going rate in town, but not prohibitive).

Review 111:This is a fabulous guesthouse, mainly due to the owners. A calm, peaceful oasis, where soothing music plays all the time. We highly recommend it!

Review 112:I feel it is just a bit far from the train and bus stations and at times difficult to get to and from.

Review 113:Mr. And Mrs. PY are two wonderful people who cannot do enough for you, owners of this type are rare, extremely rare. A very clean and peaceful place to stay.

Review 114:Owner, so helpful, extremely kind. They would do everything to ensure you are happy. In a quiet location so a good night sleep. Food good. Interesting bathroom facilities. Would defiantly recommend. Can hire a bike, so you can get around easily.

Review 115:breakfast could be served a little earlier. Not really an issue for us but not close to the centre, transport is needed.

Review 116:We stayed 2 nights at this guest house and it was fantastic! The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable and breakfast good... the owners were very hospitable. The lady owner organized a tuk tuk on the first day we arrived to take us to some major attractions which were very good. The next day her husband gave us a lift to the bus station to go to the Erawan Waterfalls...very good people! I would recommend this little gem to anyone.

Review 117:Wifi reception not good in rooms but the positives make up for this.

Review 118:The host couple are incredibly accomodating, dropping me off at the bus station and giving great local knowledge. Breakfast was good. Beautiful trees and plants around accomodation. Cute room.

Review 119:No dislikes

Review 120:Comfort, the forest ambience, the quiet, the proximity, the bicycle for 2 days at 10 baht. Comfort in room was excellent. Absolutely no complaints highly recommended.

Review 121:It felt like you couldn't walk anywhere as there are so many stray dogs, it was a little bit scary and put us off going out but we had to if we wanted to get food.

Review 122:The staff were amazing! Being near a lot of attractions. We were taken to the bus station when we left and were very looked after even though there was quite a language barrier.

Review 123:The wifi only work near the lobby.

Review 124:The owners of this place are exceptional people, they made a modest place become one of the best places to stay in thailand. They were born to do this, they value each guest and try to make they stay the best possible. They treat you like family, i will never forget the ladys owner hug and we said goodbye. I recommend PY 100%.

Review 125:The guesthouse is slightly out of the city center but you can rent bikes from them for a funny price (we paid 20 baht for 2 days) and the owner took us to the bus station a few times- free of charge.

Review 126:This place has great ambience, and two lovely owners. We planned to stay 2 nights but ended up staying 4. The rooms are clean and comfortable and you can see a lot of thought has been put into every little detail. We would highly recommend this guesthouse.
