Reviews for Yankee Inn
Review 1:Transition piece between the lobby floor and carpet leading to the elevator area was broken and raised up. Could've just happened before we arrived. Even so it was a safety issue where someone could've tripped on it. Other than that everything was fine.
Review 2:Clean room, very friendly staff.
Review 3:It's on a highway (the traffic is noisy); our intention was to stay in the countryside and were mislead. So it's not on the country, nor in Lenox. If you're in the motel (south building) the access to facilities isn't convenient.
Review 4:Good breakfast
Review 5:Don't understand hotels that put the coffee maker in the bathroom, and unwrapped glasses and cups sitting on the sink..not the most sanitary.
Review 6:The front desk staff were pleasant and welcoming. The room and bath were clean with better than average bed linen. We will be staying there again when we're in the area.
Review 7:Staff is friendly and helpful, and the price was exceptional for the level of comfort and amenities offered. The Yankee Inn is always a good choice. Watched a deer out back from my room balcony; great setting.
Review 8:Loved the comfy canopy bed, cozy sitting area and special pricing. The room faced the main thoroughfare and yet didn't hear the sounds of traffic....great.
Review 9:Bathroom towels need fabric softener.
Review 10:The room was very nice and cozy. It was also very clean. The bed and linens were very clean and comfortable. The balcony with the view was great.
Review 11:This is a gem of a place within the rather pricey BnB world of the Berkshires. Breakfast was quite nice and location and property are great, especially for exploring from here- as a base camp.
Review 12:The only slight downside for us was the lack of a restaurant or bar within walking distance.
Review 13:Could not fault this motel, everything was exactly as described. Excellent reception staff, very comfortable bed.
Review 14:5 minutes for downtown Lenox and beautiful hiking trails. Staff was very helpful in finding a local place for dinner. We had the fireplace room and enjoyed the upgrade.
Review 15:Swimming pool was closed for maintenance, the hotel was adjoining a dual carriageway, functional accommodation lacking character or personality.
Review 16:Quick check in and check out
Review 17:The room didn't feel very clean, in particular the bed smelt a bit of sweat. It is also quite noisy with road noise. Breakfast is served entirely on plastic plates with plastic cutlery which I dislike.
Review 18:It is conveniently located for Stockbridge and the Hancock Shaker village.
Review 19:Mattress was too hard. Weak breakfast on Monday with no options for gluten-free patrons.
Review 20:Breakfast on Sunday with lots of melon! Clean and well appointed room Beautiful lake view out the back Computer and wifi
Review 21:Smelled of industrial cleaning products, had to open window to air out that smell
Review 22:Free breakfast with organic yogurt, spacious room, located near many supermarkets, balcony with slight view of lake
Review 23:This hotel was great! We stopped here for a one-night honeymoon, and the staff upgraded us to a jacuzzi suite! It was clean, comfortable, and cozy, and the staff was courteous and professional. We will definitely stop by again when we are in the area!
Review 24:THE MATTRESS. Lumpy, springs poking in our back, really in dire need of replacing.
Review 25:The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean. The room had a new TV and a new iron, and it was easy to park.
Review 26:The discription is spot on "motel" styled hotel (not a sketchy nor dirty motel) basic accommodations at a low price point. Just a place to crash. Can be a bit loud or noisy depending on occupancy as all rooms share a porch balcony. We stayed one night and had not complaints, spent minimal in room, it was exactly what we expected.
Review 27:Good location, only 10-15 min drive from attractions and town center (of Lenox). Next to CVS and grocery store for convinces. Good value. Nice staff. If a fancy hotel or B&B is out of the budget this place is good enough!
Review 28:Staff was great, our room was clean and comfortable. Nice little deck to sit out on in the evening. Although there were many people staying it was very quiet.
Review 29:This really is a bait and switch. The property was very highly readerrated and seemed to have all the amenities that we were looking for soit was an easy choice. However, after the room was purchased on theconfirmation I noticed a tiny little picture of the bed and it lookednothing like the one in the room photos. When we got to the hotel I sawwhy pretty quickly. The hotel had purchased an old motel that was nextdoor and put all their overage of guests into it. The rooms have notbeen updated since the wagon wheel days. I have not stayed in anythingthat outdated in decades. We made the best of it. The tv had beenupdated to a flat screen and got plenty of channels and the a/cworked well. I expected the mattress to sag in the middle but itdidn'T. The dresser had drawers with no guides to keep them in placeas they were so old and the furniture was archaic but the carpetwasn't bad and the bathroom was clean. The bathroom was from anotherera but it appeared clean. They told us these rooms and there were manyof them, were much smaller and older. I'm assuming at some pointthey are planning on putting some money into them and updating them butit wasn't explained that way or no one would go there.
Review 30:There was wifi in the room and in the hotel itself, the a/c workedand the room appeared clean. There was a flat screen tv with cable
Review 31:Like the main building better. Room small and old, although clean. Door broken, closet door difficult to close, sink cracked. No body lotion.
Review 32:Location ;breakfast ;parking;staff.
Review 33:Terrible breakfast - eggs out of a squirt bottle, ran out of coffee and tea and left many people waiting in a long line. Desk staff ready to help but not personable. Older hotel with dated decor. Fireplace was not on for the summer but it would have been nice in the cool evening to use it. No towels for the pool.
Review 34:The pool, outside space is very enjoyable with a beautiful marsh behind the hotel, and a large grassy area with chairs and table in the front. Location is great for those attending events in Lenox - minutes from Tanglewood.
Review 35:Bedroom mattress/bed comfort -- old and too soft. Curtains allowed too much street light through. Bathroom doors did not close properly, needs maintenance. One of our two room smelled musty or A/C had odor!?
Review 36:Great front lawn with table and chairs
Review 37:The shower needs some work. Very weak pressure and water ranged from cold to hot to scalding within a slight turn of the faucet.
Review 38:Good location, fair price The expected amenities like coffee and fridge in room were all there.
Review 39:The room was old and felt a shabby. Mattress was hard and didn't have a mattress pad. Floor was dirty. Carpet a mess. Breakfast was pitiful. A bunch of horrible tasting sweet pastries and sweet cereals.
Review 40:On the positive side, staff was friendly and very helpful. I got in late and needed help getting my suitcase up the stairs. The young Ukrainian student that was summer help was very sweet helping me to get settled.
Review 41:Comfortable rooms and very pleasant front desk staff who were knowledgeable about the area and gave good directions. The breakfast was excellent and the indoor and outdoor pools well maintained. Nice rustic grounds behind the Motel and recessed enough from the road to be peaceful in the room although route seven can be quite busy. Good value for the money. Henry Ducat Queens N.Y.
Review 42:Bed advertised as a 'double' was about 8 inches too narrow. And the bed was soft as a marshmallow. The usual Lenox overpricing for the Tanglewood season.
Review 43:Good location. Quiet, cool at night. Pleasant property. Room was recently renovated with new windows and clean wood floor. Good breakfast selections, complementary omelets made to order on Sat and Sun.
Review 44:Pool is very small and free breakfast has very limited selection - not worth the extra money vs cheaper motels.
Review 45:Nice Inn, good location, does have a heated water pool
Review 46:There should be parking lines. The cars spread out so much that spaces were lost in front of the units. Also, didn't care for double beds (used to queen double beds wherever we usually go).
Review 47:Being able to drive up to the door.
Review 48:The room was right on the highway with trucks rumbling all night. No sleep. When we asked for a change it was offered for a 300 dollar bait and switch upgrade. Mediocre breakfast.
Review 49:It was short
Review 50:A little bit out of town (we prefer to be able to walk to restaurants or to town but this was a bit too far) so be prepared to drive.
Review 51:Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and clean room, nice quiet location.
Review 52:Liked staff - very accomodating. Location is great for Tanglewood and neighboring Berkshire towns - Lee, Stockbridge. Near good restaurants and lots to do.
Review 53:I would have preferred staying in the main bldg rather than the older section. we were not allowed the discount for either triple A or Senior Citizens although we asked.
Review 54:Everyone was pleasant and helpful in a cheerful way. I did recommend it to a friend for an August visit.
Review 55:Pathetic breakfast. Teeny bathroom. Only most basic amenities. Surly desk They SELL the nyt. Even the most humble hotels give you a newspaper. For the money? No way would I recommend this place. And it's very tired looking.
Review 56:The bed
Review 57:There was only a window air conditioner because of the climate in the area, but it ran all night and didn't really cool the room down as much as we thought it should having kept it on 68 degrees all night.
Review 58:Extremely pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 59:Pictured the Berkshire Mtns in online pictures actually an overpriced room on the parking lot facing a very busy street no mountain view at all. The room was musty smelling, there was a butt can right outside the door. Two stick size pieces of wood for the fireplace with an offer to buy more at $7 after paying a premium for a room with a fireplace I thought that was pretty chintzy. When I complained at the front desk I was told they would pass it on.
Review 60:Water at breakfast and drinks station in reception not hot enough to make tea.
Review 61:Upgraded at no extra cost, fantastic view from room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.
Review 62:Bug in bathroom....cockroach. Have to admit it was a baby. Did not like being isolated from main motel. Believe this was because I booked through Booking .com. TV w as fuzzy and phone didn't work. Not a pleasant stay.
Review 63:There definately needed to be more staff to help at the buffet breakfast. The woman at the omlette station and the woman cleaning and replenishing the buffet were working too hard and should have had more help.
Review 64:The pool, the accommodating and friendly staff and the included buffet breakfast.
Review 65:Queen room walls are paper thin. Bed was very hard and low to the ground. HVAC system is noisy. The place is stuck in the 80's, but you get what you pay for I guess. I stayed previously in the king suite and It was a much better setup in the main building. I suggest springing for the nicer room, it may change your experience.
Review 66:Staff was nice, location is good. The fee breafast is pretty good. The indoor pool is nice when not crowded. Staff is nice.
Review 67:Not being able to check out and leave my friend in the room until 11:00. He had to go to the desk to check out when he left. It was not a big deal, but the only thing that didn't go exactly as planned.
Review 68:Location of room Service/Friendliness of Staff Cleanliness Quiet Peaceful Warm Size of room Ease of checkout/checkin
Review 69:Note on the Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor. Our room was located on the 2nd floor which is where the hotel serves breakfast in a decent sized meeting room. I discovered that this meeting room is left open so families or groups that are traveling together "hang out" in this room. I think this is great so that they are not congregating in some of their hotel rooms next to a family that might be trying to rest. But, I do not appreciate that every night, no matter what the group, the kids' behavior was the same-the grownups congregated while the kids run back and forth, up and down on the elevators, etc. I wish the hotel would police this noisy activity better-- which occurred every night of my stay. I also wish that people traveling to this hotel would stop taking advantage of the hotel atmosphere and elevator as entertainment or free babysitting and actually monitor their kids.
Review 70:We recently stayed at the Yankee Inn from December 31st to January 3rd. When it comes to ski hotels, we try to pick places we think will provide some sort of customer service in case there is a noise issue because we frequently get up at 6 a.m. to be on the lift by 8/8:30.ROOM:The room itself was on the 2nd floor which I incorrectly believed was the top floor when I requested it. The room was clean and comfortable for a family of four, but a bit noisy with overhead foot traffic and constant hallway traffic from unattended kids of all ages (4-17 or so) running back and forth- back and forth. I expected this on New Year's Eve, but surprisingly, New Year's Day night was so much worse and much nosier! As was the evening of Jan 2nd. Knowing the hotel was full, I did not ask to be reassigned.STAFF:The hotel staff is very kind and hard working. There are NOT ENOUGH OF THEM ON DUTY. Danielle was working on New Year's Day night and in trying to make a phone call in peace outside my room (where my kids were sleeping) I moved around quite a bit. I noticed her work the front desk, run upstairs to get cups, run to the pool to collect dirty towels, run back to the pool to supply fresh towels, re stock the coffee/hot chocolate station, and numerous other tasks. I did not feel comfortable asking her to intervene with the noisy crowd upstairs because I could see that there was little if anything she would be able to do due to her workload. I commented that she had too much work and there should be a second person working and she just smiled and said "thank you." The management should reward her loyalty, diligence and effort in increased compensation- in my opinion.Second, there was a girl making omelettes on New Year's Day and Saturday morning. She was sweet and competent and did not get rattled-not when she burned herself two times, nor when the line was ridiculously long. The omelettes were delicious!
Review 71:The room was small The shower curtain was dirty The rug was worn We found previous guests toiletries behind the desk Breakfast was fair at best
Review 72:We liked the location
Review 73:Facility could use some updating and some eggs and bacon or sausage at breakfast would be nice.
Review 74:Staff was wonderful, room was warm, clean and comfortable.
Review 75:Battery for smoke detector was old so it was beeping but was taken care of immediately when i called Edwardo at the front desk.
Review 76:Staff was super friendly Rooms were updated and clean Offered a re-fridge and microwave! Beds were really comfortable
Review 77:This place is charming. It is unique and full of character. The staff is very friendly and professional and the facilities ore just great. It is a fun environment. I hope to visit again!
Review 78:The room was very clean and beds were quite comfortable. Very nice breakfast. The front desk girl was very pleasent and helpful. A few minutes after check-in we got a call from desk to make sure our room was satifactory. Have never had that at any other hotel or motel.
Review 79:The room heater was very noisy. The complimentary breakfast was not much different then a continental breakfast.
Review 80:The location was just right for our purposes and the staff was ok.
Review 81:I wished it was closer to downtown Lenox!
Review 82:I liked the fact the room was clean and quiet! There was nothing to worry about here at the hotel and I would recommend it to all!
Review 83:Lovely wood-panelled room and superb beds & linen. Decent Breakfast. Charming staff. Loads of parking. Great location in the middle of the Berkshires. Highly Recommended.
Review 84:Just a typical motel when you add it all up. Location on a miracle mile of common stores other motel and gas stations. Away from the interesting part of Lenox. Could hear snoring from the room next door. Wi-fi was not very good in peak hours. Smell from breakfast lingers in halls. No toothpaste in room. No mini-bar, just an empty small fridge that turned itself on and off all night every 20 minutes or so and interfered with sleep. Pool is small and infested with children.
Review 85:Fireplace in room
Review 86:breakfast left much to be desired. very basic. tea water not hot, waffles tough and chewy
Review 87:room was clean and adequate. Great location for touring around central Berkshires
Review 88:I was a bit disappointed that the front desk attendant told me that the pool was not open till 8am when the room manual listed 6 am. I was in my swimming trunks at the front desk at 6 am on Saturday and had to retreat back to my room.
Review 89:Breakfast was a great feature!
Review 90:Coffee not hot enough; breakfast so-so.
Review 91:Balcony, view, room, helpful staff. The great weather also helped. Swimming pool, although a bit over-chlorinated.
Review 92:The room was decorated very nicely, the breakfast was fabulous and the location was key! They even called us after we checked in to make sure that everything was to our liking! Wonderful time! Would stay again!
Review 93:Reservation said we would be in the South Building, a motel style building. What it did not say was that these rooms are in desperate need of a major upgrade. After one night we switched to the main building - it cost more but was worth it! We would not have booked the original room had we known what it was like. A real disappointment.
Review 94:We booked through Booking.com and didn't realize that our room had no tub. Could have lived with that but there also was no heat. This is in the less expensive South Building. But when we mentioned no heat they immediately tx. us to the Main Building which had heat, a tub and a balcony. So it was a great place and we were lucky. Next time I will read the ad better or maybe book directly with the hotel.
Review 95:The hotel was virtually empty when I stayed there but I was put in what was probably the most inaccesible room on the property. The tv was old with a very fuzzy picture and the computer with internet that was promised was out of order.
Review 96:The room I had was in a motel style separate row and the windows were not double paned, so road noise - which they face - woke me at 5 AM.
Review 97:Was near to a number of attractions and priced right. The rooms were smallish and dark, but clean and comfortable.
Review 98:Room was small, and could have used a sitting chair.
Review 99:The old part of the Inn (South) were beautifully updated and furnished. Although it was emphasized on the website that these rooms were not in the main building, it was a very short distance between the two, and well worth the difference in price.
Review 100:Staff couldn't have been nicer or more responsive. Good location, comfortable room. Loved having a refrigerator and balcony with a view And free breakfast too! Very pleased!!!
Review 101:The breakfasts left much to be desired.
Review 102:We were lucky and got a complementary room upgrade on the first floor with a jacuzzi and a four poster bed. Couldn't be better. The staff was very helpful too.
Review 103:The bathroom needed a good cleaning. An armchair in the room was needed.
Review 104:I liked the location and the size of the room. The breakfast offering was excellent.
Review 105:When I arrived, one woman was using the computer but did not look up or greet me; in a little while she asked if I was checking in but when I said yes, she went back to her computer and said the other person would need to help me with that. People who are using computers should do so in a back area; it appears strange and rude when they do not help guests. Carpet in room was worn and air did not smell fresh; faint smell of urine. Desk was sticky. Found a hair in the bathtub. There was no "do not disturb" sign to hang on the doorknob.
Review 106:Weekend omlettes made to order as part of free breakfast; nice indoor and outdoor pools; fresh water with lemon available in cooler by registration; comforter on bed was clean and a good weight and quality.
Review 107:when I booked, I was given a confirmation and rate for a queen room. when I arrived, was told no such room & rate was available & the hotel did not have our booking online. had to go to more expensive room. discussed in a.m. & was given rate as expected.
Review 108:convenience to area
Review 109:THe air conditioner was a bit noisey.
Review 110:Made to order omlets on Sunday morning were a treat. Very attentive staff. Nice pools and quite room. Drive up to your room makes unloading the car easy.
Review 111:Cleanliness of room was average. Lack of clothes washer and drier, unable to dry bathing suits after swimming in pool because of humidity of area.
Review 112:Location near family we were visiting. Very good breakfast buffet weekdays and additional omelette on weekends. Access from room to parking lot and fresh air of Berkshires.
Review 113:Our reservation was mixed up. Booking .com evidently had not cancelled our original reservation for the following week and there was no record of our current reservation . After looking at many rooms we took the upgrade. Worth it! Breakfast Is just okay!
Review 114:We wound up upgrading to a very nice room in the main building. Very comfortable with a view
Review 115:We booked through bookings. com and there was no notice to Yankee In n. They were able to honor our reservation anyway. Frustrating because we had booked months in advance, but grateful that we were accommodated.
Review 116:"South" section is the original 1950's motel refurbished but still small and bathroom setup inconvenient. The weekday breakfast had only hard-boiled eggs for protein and no mayonnaise.
Review 117:Location, lobby, exercise room, pool, "North" section (the new one).
Review 118:Second floor room with NO elevator available, no handicapped facilities. Bath towels on the thin side. I would not rate this location above a 7.5 grade.
Review 119:Location,close to a shopping area. Clean room. Nice pillows and comfortable bed. Fairly good breakfast. Excellent coffee. Very nice receptionists, that were very helpful.
Review 120:Rugs in room and lobby looked dated Pictures were greatly different from actual - looked much older than what was advertised Did not have hot water - luke warm at most
Review 121:Location Refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot blow dryer Pools Breakfast
Review 122:The TV in the motel section needed to be updated. The sets are old and the picture color was pink and green. New TV's don't cost that much now,
Review 123:The location was easy to get to. The quaint rooms in the motel units were adorable.
Review 124:When you don't book directly with Yankee Inn, they give you two double beds instead of a queen or king if that's what works for them. Bathroom was very tiny.
Review 125:Nice complimentary breakfast.
Review 126:The room had a strong smell of body odor coming from the bathroom. The AC was noisy. The room was shabby with stains on the furniture. Towels were cheap and thin. Our first floor room had an exterior sliding door which had been left unlocked when we arrived. The inn's interior common areas were rundown. The inn's grounds were ugly and in an busy commercial strip setting. The room was extremely overpriced for the the poor quality of the facility.
Review 127:The inn is conveniently located for Tanglewood and the town of Lenox. Check in was quick and efficient. Internet was easy to use and free. The bed was comfortable. The AC worked.
Review 128:When we booked we thought it was closer to restaurants. There was only 1 breakfast/lunch restaurant and no restaurants for dinner within walking distance
Review 129:Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and a balcony
Review 130:It was a standard mediocre motel and too expansive. We are traveling with our kids (12 & 9) and we have found better and cheaper hotels on our trip. We booked it because of the pools but the outside pool was situated in front of the parking lot next to the main road they don't show you that on the pictures and the inside pool was very dirty my kids found some worms in it. Breakfast was horrible too
Review 131:Close to all the nice Bershires towns
