Reviews for Stratford Inn

Review 1:We loved it. The bed was very comfortable, the gal at the front desk was kind. We came through town at 11pm so we weren't sure what we would find. Its an older place but we loved the charm of it all. It was quiet and we left the next morning.

Review 2:small hot tub...not strong jets semi comfy bed flat pillows room #1 had old carpet and funky furniture room #2 had nice wood floor and updated

Review 3:-pool hours! water toys and floatie to borrow...cute pool art -separate breakfast and room for kids -fancy cafe with good coffee for adults -breakfast had good eggs, sausage and two sets of all food items...mini doughnuts! -location was simple...we walked downtown with 7 kids no problem -pretty holiday decorations -nice overall design with pool and cafe -local drama/theater history -very helpful staff/felt local/nice house keeper...not pushy -adjoining rooms! they are hard to find elsewhere -easy and secure parking -eco shampoo and soaps -heat/air worked great -quiet

Review 4:The breakfast arrangement (breakfast room or coupon for coffee shop) is a little confusing). Breakfast room was closed on our first morning there.

Review 5:Good location, comfortable bed.

Review 6:Reserved room for three of us: however there were not enough towels, coffee or coffee cups... We are early risers and had to wait for Siskiyou Room to open at 7 for coffee......NOT a great breakfast!

Review 7:Beds were very clean and comfortable.... Room and bathroom nice and clean

Review 8:We don't stay during the summer because the rates are higher than what I feel are comparable to other places. However, in the fall your prices were very good. So I hope to return in the fall.

Review 9:Location Cleanliness Pool Staff

Review 10:More gluten free options in the breakfast buffet for a person like me with Celiac Disease would be appreciated.

Review 11:Great location, easy parking, clean, nice front desk staff. Very quiet and a nice view of the mountain.

Review 12:DREADFUL, nearly inedible breakfast (eat out. there are lots of great places to eat in Ashland). TERRIBLE wifi connections. constant drops IF you can even get on. Hallways have dirty and worn carpets and generally an OLD, USED feeling in halls only.

Review 13:Location great. If you are ambulatory, you can enjoy a short walk to everything...plays restaurant shops. Staff GREAT. Lobby clean. Beds comfortable. Room and bath very clean. NO CARPETS IN ROOMS!!! YAY!!!!

Review 14:Cause of Shakespeare festival able to overcharge breakfast horrible room almost disgusting, old bedding very old unattractive furniture & only 2 pillows on a king bed

Review 15:My biggest complaint was the lousy wifi. We were at the end of a hall, about as far away from office as could be which probably explains the connection. It would connect, lose connection, reconnect constantly on both iPad and iPhone. Also the devices never seemed to remember password. Had to stand outside elevator at other end of hallway to be able to read emails, etc. The breakfast menu could use some variety, especially if staying for several days. Only so many cold scrambled eggs and hard, cold tater tots one can eat!

Review 16:Close to downtown and Shakespeare festival so can walk to those activities. Also across street from full grocery store. Very comfortable room with plenty of space. Adequate refrigerator and microwave. Friendly staff, very clean!

Review 17:The staff seems quite unhappy, especially the housekeeping staff. They are quite unfriendly. The supplies Kleenex box was almost empty when we arrived in our room so we went and asked a house keeping woman for a new one and she said we'd need to go look for a cart, but we saw a huge stack on them in the supple room right behind her and asked for one, which she made seem like a big deal and big problem for her. I don't know if it's a problem with the staff or the hotel management - which one won't allow guests a new box from the supple room and why it's a big issue. The coffee maker in our room was also dirty, having an old used filter left in it when we arrived. We arrived late at the hotel and ended up getting to breakfast at 9:45 and the cleaners were in there bang on 10am taking all the food out and told us we had to leave in an unfriendly manner. We were halfway through eating so just took our plates to our room. Also th breakfast is pretty dreadful, barely warm and dry. The first day the sausages were completely burnt to a hard crisp and pancakes were old, dry, cold and hard. I guess it's kind of better than nothing but nothing to boast about. The plates are also ridiculously tiny so they I saw everyone dropping food off of them as they attempted to fit a slice of toast with a single sausage and egg on the minuscule plate.

Review 18:The king suite was nice and spacious, the beds were pretty comfortable and there were extra blankets and pillows. The pool and hot tub were nice and the look and decor in the hotel we enjoyed.

Review 19:Spacious, well designed room, great full kitchen with large dining area. Enjoyable and comfortable to spend daytime downtime in. Extremely friendly and helpful staff both at front desk and in Café. Just a 7 minute walk to downtown Ashland. The hotel was new to me but I will continue to book it for my trips to Ashland.

Review 20:Would have liked more fresh fruit at breakfast and a different menu or alternate selections each day.

Review 21:Good location, friendly staff, odd decor, comfortable room.

Review 22:Furniture was chipped & oddly arranged in room. Need to update Lobby & replace hall carpet (stained). Didn't like the dispensed soap, etc.

Review 23:Breakfast & free wifi was a plus, also has a nice cafe on premises & free parking. Has a nice view of the mountains.

Review 24:A simple hotel, so a little pricey -- I guess it is because we went during the high season for the Shakespeare Festival. Breakfasts were ok, could have had more variety, fresh fruit, and better coffee (they served great coffee -- Noble -- in the hotel cafe right next door).

Review 25:Loved the location -- easy walking distance to theaters, restaurants, etc. Loved the pool (I often had it to myself). Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel cafe served great coffee (Nobel, roasted in Ashland). Parking easy and free.

Review 26:fruit flies in bathroom, very disappointed with continental breakfast. Ended up eating eating at the cafe in the same building

Review 27:location, friendless of staff

Review 28:First room assigned was on 1st floor, below street level, between maintenance and service areas and was like being in a basement apartment (cold & dark). Not good

Review 29:Staff was very helpful & accommodating and reassigned us to a very nice room on the 2nd floor

Review 30:We were there for our anniversary, loved the spa suite! Was like our own private condo. The man who signed us in was very nice and even gave us free drinks at the coffee shop for our anniversary.

Review 31:Lack of fruit at breakfast 3 of 5 mornings Room wasn't vacuumed 2 of 4 mornings When Elevator was not working, there was no sign on 2nd story doors. Staff did come by & helped us with luggage as we checked out.

Review 32:Front desk staffed 24/7. When elevator didn't work, staff carried suitcases down to shuttle for us. A/C in room Breakfast on premises Guest laundry on premises Going green - bed not changed; but towels changed as requested

Review 33:Basically, aging motel facilities dressed up with accents to echo Shakespeare theme. Breakfast so-so. Beds a little too soft.

Review 34:Short walk to theaters, shops and restaurants. OK rates compared to other walkable lodgings.

Review 35:The room seemed a bit over-priced to us. $400 for 2 nights is on the high side for a Best Western property.

Review 36:Super friendly staff made our visit more pleasant. The room was comfortable, if a bit dark. I particularly appreciated that the soap and lotion were in dispensers instead of the small sizes often seen in rooms that can't help but create a great deal of waste.

Review 37:I missed breakfast in the Siskiyou Room because the door I tried to enter was locked and I did not realize there was an open one down the hall. Please add a sign that says "use other door".

Review 38:It was quiet and clean.

Review 39:Breakfast was okay, could have used a little more variety.

Review 40:Easy access to town and the university. Clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 41:breakfast was disappointing. the sausage was burnt, tater tots seemed very old/stale and the state of the bananas was beyond ripe they should have been thrown out and they were the only fruit available that was a disappointment.

Review 42:flooring, (wood/laminate) plenty of outlets and a nice big window that opened. very clean and modern.

Review 43:The room we had (302) was right above the cafe, meaning we would wake every morning at 7am to their radio.

Review 44:Clean and spacious room, friendly staff, good value.

Review 45:The pillows were the only downfall. The pillows were not matched for comfort. One was flat, the other, was soft and lumpy. The reputation of this hotel would benefit from comfortable, matched pillows.

Review 46:Staff was helpful. Free breakfast was quite good. Location is always excellent. Walk to downtown, Safeway right across the street!

Review 47:From the moment we stepped in till we left the Stratford Inn was a home away from home. The staff was very accommodating and the room was awesome. Location was perfect for what we needed. Will stay there again. Thanks!!

Review 48:The wifi should be more reliable. It was on and off sometimes.

Review 49:The room we stayed was clean and big enough for four of us (2 adults and 2 children). The hotel is located near downtown with about 5 minute walk. There's Safeway across the street from the hotel, too.

Review 50:Looks good from the outside but the rooms are dated and a little run down. Quite noisy - a heater (not in our room - we turned ours off as the rooms was over warm, even in December) kept coming on in the building and was very loud. We could also hear whenever anyone around us used the bathroom. The included breakfast was barely edible - eggs over cooked,

Review 51:Location, easy parking, staff is veru friendly.

Review 52:Continental breakfast could have had some fresh fruit...and a boiled egg or two

Review 53:outstanding staff...excellent location with shops and restaurants in walking distance...climate control in room was easy to adjust...indoor pool and hot tub was wonderful...

Review 54:Hallways are a bit gloomy but rooms more updated.

Review 55:Easy walk to town, restaurants and Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres. Older rooms but nicely appointed and clean. Very comfy beds. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy parking.

Review 56:This inn was a short walk from theaters, shopping, and restaurants. Safeway was across the street. There was covered parking and an indoor pool that stayed open late into the night. Breakfast was self-serve buffet, a simple presentation but with adequate variety. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and had a wonderful shower and mini refrigerator. I would stay there again.

Review 57:Lighting of the room could be better, though this was better than average.

Review 58:Large room with kitcnen facilities and great wiew to the mountains. Very good breakfast. Ample parking area. Good base for OSF events and city walking. Within walking distance a large variety of restaurants and (brew)pubs.

Review 59:nothing

Review 60:Loved everything about it, starting with checking in! Great selection for the continental breakfast - used the pool several times with my daughter and 6-yr old granddaughter. The staff/customer service - excellent!! I will definitely go back again.

Review 61:Adjoining room was noisy with conversation, 3 a.m. one night, 9 a.m. a day later. Was there a sofa or table near the door in the suite adjoining.

Review 62:Location was great, parking good enough, staff fine

Review 63:The included breakfast is generous, but not very good. Tator tots cooked in a microwave just aren't tasty. Stick to the continental breakfast theme, and add more fruit.

Review 64:Easy walk downtown and to the theater. Free pass to a nearby fitness center. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff.

Review 65:Had to have a car to get to the Festival. The noise from the pool at night. breakfast was pretty awful

Review 66:Reception was great. Probably better for a family traveling with a car and kids.

Review 67:Would have preferred more layers of bedding With only the down comforter, I was often too hot and then too cold without the comforter.

Review 68:Great location Nice breakfast

Review 69:We were not dissatisfied with anything

Review 70:The staff was fantastic - we had an issue with the tv in our room and they immediately came to help and then moved us to another room. The room was very comfortable and despite having a large group of young adults (12-14 yrs) at the hotel it was very quiet. Shopping, theatre and restaurants were easily within walking distance.

Review 71:Wish they offered soy milk at breakfast due to dairy allergy.

Review 72:The staff was great the pool is open til 1 am awesome for After plays at Shakespeare festival when traveling with child! The breakfast is decent and open til later as well.

Review 73:Both mornings, breakfast was a problem. On the first morning there were no eggs, potatoes, etc. We had to wait until more were made. The second morning the eggs were overdone, the tater tots were cold and dry. It appeared that the room was understaffed.

Review 74:The manager allowed us to borrow chairs (albeit with a deposit) for our tail gate party!

Review 75:Great location for walking to theatres, Lithia Park, restaurants, shops and coffee houses. Enjoyed the pool - water was perfect temperature! Good breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Review 76:The room service was spotty on some days. A maid would forget things such as toilet paper, replacing soiled towels or glasses. The pillows were floppy and thin. And the hall and stair carpets could use a shampooing.

Review 77:I like to walk, and the motel gave me the right distance for exercise while being close to the attractions I sought. I liked the attention to "natural" substances avoiding plastic containers, conservation of water and recycling. I liked having the breakfast room, although as vegans, we brought much of our own food. (We were mother and adult daughter -- your question about who we were did not cover us correctly.)

Review 78:We misunderstood the housekeeping schedule so missed out on getting room cleaned one day because we were napping in the afternoon.

Review 79:Outlook to hills. Nearness to Safeway. Adequate but ordinary breakfast (we missed B&B food and conversation). Sufficient parking. Comfy beds. Good air conditioning.

Review 80:I go yearly for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and always stay about a week. the staff always seems happy and glad to see you - their free breakfast is quite good for the type - very clean, always asking if you need anything - will go again next year

Review 81:We were satisfied; good value for money. Our room was on the back side, away from the busy main street, which I would request in future.

Review 82:we had been disappointed not to be able to get a room in our usual place, but were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Stratford Inn. It was a less than 10 minute walk to the Shakespeare Festival and was conveniently located across from a Safeway store. We were very happy and will stay there again.

Review 83:I gave a card of concern before checking out asked if they got it . They said yes but didn't respond to my concerns. Felt I was blown off, hummmm.

Review 84:Location

Review 85:The hotel was a bit away from the most interesting part of town, though everything was still well within walking distance. The decor is starting to feel a little dated.

Review 86:The room was comfortable and clean and the food in the attached cafe was great. We especially appreciated the gluten free options.

Review 87:The door of the fridge opened next to the wall. It should have opened on the other side. I scraped my fingers a couple of times on the textured wall, but finally got the hang of it.

Review 88:The room was quiet, facing the parking lot, with plenty of room to put our stuff. Comfortable beds. Nice kitchen, with equipment for cooking and eating, and a table and chairs. We ate out at some great restaurants, but also shopped at the Ashland Co-op and cooked a few things "at home". The collards from the co-op were baby collards, very tender.

Review 89:The carpet in common areas needs to be replaced. Would have been nice to have some gluten-free options at breakfast, as the eggs and sausage weren't the best.

Review 90:This is a comfortable inn with some Elizabethan flair in keeping with the Shakespeare festival and a nice cafe on the premises. We appreciated the availability of two queens and a rollaway bed. It was also nice to have a refrigerator/freezer in the room. The location is superb; it's a pleasant stroll to the city center.

Review 91:We were in a basement, handicapped accessible room. Cannot comment on rest of hotel. Near the laundry. The room was dark.

Review 92:Location is good and staff helpful

Review 93:Very dark room. The shower had a trick to work it which involved pulling a ring down from the faucet (or tap as we Brits would say). This wasn't obvious.

Review 94:Huge room and the hotel is located in a brilliant location.

Review 95:Couldn't stay longer. Ha.

Review 96:Ever since I have been visiting the area, I had always wanted to stay at this hotel-- it's away enough from downtown to provide a quiet night, but close enough to walk everywhere. The front desk staff was wonderful and cheery--it just was a pleasant stay. Homey. Yes.

Review 97:This is a great location with nice amenities. The indoor pool is lower and not at street level - I always like that. The area is quiet at night. This is a good place for families, so if you don't like kids, I'd avoid this place. It was clean and comfortable.

Review 98:The pool was very dirty--murky looking with a skin of scum floating on top. Had hoped for a dip, but feared for my health. The room was not very up-to-date with the times. If you're looking for a classy, five-star experience, this inn should not be on your list.

Review 99:Quaint lodgings--basics for the traveler. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Convenient location...very near the Shakespeare Festival. Good value for starving students and people on a tight budget.

Review 100:Overcooked scrambled eggs! Otherwise we were quite pleased also with everything. Great location to shops and restaurants.

Review 101:Breakfast, not exciting but good to get up and not have to search for a good cafe.

Review 102:Not enough parking Poor quality breakfast Small rooms Poor quality shampoo High price and obvious effort to cut corners on amenities.

Review 103:Front desk staff was friendly

Review 104:The property is decent, a but dated. It is across from a grocery store and walking distance to downtown. Parking was easy. The pool is open late, great for after a late play.

Review 105:Nothing

Review 106:I liked the larger rooms. Old school feel and a real metal key for our room. Great sleep on your bed. The lotion and soap wall containers were full and convenient. Large shower. Great location with Safeway and town a few blocks . Loved the coffee shop on 2 floor . Nice touch. We will return

Review 107:Percent location, great staff and wonderful rooms

Review 108:pool staff location overall cleanliness

Review 109:Great location in Ashland.

Review 110:Sheets and towels had stains on them, they were clean but come on lets get some new ones!!

Review 111:Location is great.

Review 112:Fridge and microwave in room. Excellent Wi-Fi reception. Good complimentary breakfast.

Review 113:Fitness center over a mile of site. Noisy location. Blah breakfast. Sheets didn't fit. Toilet flush problems (resolved second day)

Review 114:Boulevard cafe.

Review 115:Need better verity for breakfast

Review 116:Good location to downtown

Review 117:dirty hallways

Review 118:comfortable beds

Review 119:The breakfast area was adequate. I would have liked to see more fresh fruits rather greasy potatos.

Review 120:I liked the pool and polite staff members.

Review 121:Excellent coffee shop on property. Easy walk to Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Review 122:hard bed

Review 123:Ease of stay

Review 124:Easy walking distance to shopping and the theatre. Nice to have a super market right across the street and coffee shop in the building

Review 125:Breakfast could have had yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Scrambled eggs in pan very dry and over cooked

Review 126:Bath tub was clogged so when taking a shower the water rose up without draining smoothly.

Review 127:Free parking

Review 128:The price.

Review 129:Walking distance to town

Review 130:WiFi kept disconnecting.

Review 131:Clean & convenient location

Review 132:I liked the coffee shop for its comfort and the location for closeness to the theatre and shops.
