Reviews for Wellington Resort

Review 1:room was very drafty, even with control of thermostat difficult to keep rooms warm peeling wallpaper dated furnishings early check out time

Review 2:nice water view quiet comfortable bed nicely equipped kitchen facility

Review 3:When we arrived they did not have our reservation. The my did find us a room and offered a discount. I had called earlier in the day to confirm the reservation and they did so I was quite surprised when we arrived and there was no reservation for us.

Review 4:The location was terrific! We could walk to so many places.

Review 5:Though we have stayed in this very same unit before, this time who ever was in the unit just before us must have cooked something very pungent because we could smell it for 3 days. Unfortunately, it was so strong that we had a hard time sleeping the first night, even after leaving the window open all day (with the heat off)....and that's a hard thing to do in late November!

Review 6:Having two rooms (and showers) with the kids is great. Love the location and the view is lovely!

Review 7:We loved the view from our deck. It was perfect. The adjoining rooms were great for our teenage boys. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Location is the best!

Review 8:No restaurant in the facility. No housekeeping service unless paying an additional fee.

Review 9:We had a 2 room suite; very large area and very comfortable beds, kitchen was well stocked with equipment.

Review 10:Air conditioning was making terrible noises and there was a continuous loud drip from bathroom but it wasn't coming from our unit. II think it was coming from the unit above us and dripping on the ceiling in the bathroom. The mechanic of the elevator was behind our wall and made a lot of noise when in motion. We didn't sleep well at all and when I said something about the drop they just said they were sorry but they really didn't care.

Review 11:Location

Review 12:Aside from room being spacious it wasn't much of an improvement over a Holiday Inn Express. No ice was available to us in the building, one ill positioned chair.

Review 13:Location was terrific.

Review 14:Small room. But the staff told me that before I settle in. This was my choice.

Review 15:Great location. Friendly staff. Nice pool. Great view of the harbor and bridge.

Review 16:Lack of room service and breakfast. Seemed a little rule heavy. Initial check-in experience wasn't that pleasant, but righted itself in the end. Sort odd room layout for a suite (2 twins vs 1 king).

Review 17:Great location for our needs, couldn't be better. Decent beds, adequate amenities. Wish I'd known there was a pool.

Review 18:We thought the staff could have been friendlier, more helpful, and possibly known the area better. We asked where certain boats/sailing excursions left from and were told the wrong dock and wrong area of town. Also had to pay for every other thing you may want or need, like maid service is extra, no room service and most things are not near the room. The ice machine is in the clubhouse, not in the same building as our room. Not convenient at all. Lastly, they tend to cater to the owners/time share quests rather than the renters.

Review 19:The room was a god size and the bathroom had a big tub with a Jacuzzi so that was nice.

Review 20:The key system is annoying. It's for security I know but was still a bit OTT.

Review 21:Our balcony had a lovely view of a harbour as do most apartments. Plenty of beds around the pool area.

Review 22:The check in process was horrible! It took over a half hour and they told me I didn't have a reservation for my 2 rooms booked and that I would have to get new rooms for the night. They already charged my credit card back in July for the rooms but the woman kept saying that the rooms were cancelled. It was especially frustrating because I even called the week before to confirm both rooms and everything was fine when I called. They were very rude and not helpful at all and embarassed me in front of my friends. Finally they found the "paper" with my reservations on it filed away in a stack of papers and were able to give us keys. I am not sure why the computer system didn't have my information and why they had to rely on paper forms for me to check in but it was some of the worst hotel customer service I have ever received.

Review 23:The rooms were big and spacious and beautiful views of the ocean. Location to Thames street restaurants and shops is also amazing.

Review 24:air conditioning was noisy and not very efficient, we all slept poorly the first night. Kichen lacked a cooker and stove so full self catering was not possible. Was quite a long walk into the centre but past lots of lovely shops.

Review 25:Appartment was well appointed and good size. Washing machine and drier were most appreciated after ten days on the road. We had taken a two bedroom suite which made our stay rather expensive, but it overlooked the port and there were two decent sized swimming pools. It was one of the best places we have stayed this trip and originally we had booked three nights then changed to two which we were rather sorry about. Would definitely consider returning.

Review 26:Booking.com promised one price for a waterfront room and kitchen suite. When we arrived, the property put us in a tiny bedroom with a smallbathroom. We went back to the front desk and asked for what we hadbooked. We were put into a waterfront suite, but they took us to thecleaners for an extra $75/night than we agreed to pay.MINUSES: Other reviewers are right. The rooms are dated and rough. This is not a resort or a hotel. It is hard to put your finger on what exactly it is. They rent out units, and have this excuse of "we have to answer to our timeshare owners and management company." We drove 8.5 hours and over 400miles, ONLY TO END UP SLEEPING ON A PULL OUT COUCH! This is not what I had planned for $500/night. I knew Newport was pricey, but for the same price I could/should have chosen a better hotel. (Marriott, Wyndham, Hyatt Place) The WiFi is slow and not great, too. The staff acts like they can't understand why you would have an issue, and throws it in your face how much other guests are paying. (I'm not a cheapo either. I've stayed in some of the best hotels in the best destinations.) It wasn't until the morning after we arrived that the manager Marcia offered the kit to connect the twin beds into a king until the second night. It was a HUGE disappointment. I had really crushed expectations, and lost $2,000 on a lackluster hotel experience. Offering an extra decaf filter and a few extra towels (since they don't service the room unless you want to cough up another $50) just isn't my idea of making things right. I won't be back. Newport is expensive but this place is a rip off.

Review 27:Waterfront area carries conversation easily, but surprisingly itwasn't as disruptive at night as I anticipated. It is also righ atthe end of the main dining and shops on Thames Street. The shower washuge - 2 showerheads. But the "pluses" stop there.

Review 28:The AC/Heat unit is very loud. When the in-unit system turn on, especially at night while trying to sleep, it would make us often jump.

Review 29:Loved the location of our room within the facility and the Manager/staff were very helpful.

Review 30:I was expecting a condo/unit with kitchen and deck. Instead, Iwalked into a tiny room with two twin beds pushed together. I couldreach out my arms in the center of the room and touch both walls. Twinbeds pushed together is not a king bed. Furthermore, we had to share athermostat with our neighbors. I couldn't sleep all night fromsweating in the summer heat because every time I turned the thermostatdown, our neighbors came out and turned the ac off. Who ever heard ofsharing an ac unit with another room??

Review 31:The staff was curteous when I expressed my concerns over the room. Therewas notbing they could do, however.

Review 32:Some of the decoration was looking a bit tired and the decking itself was in a poor state with a risk of splintering. Some of the rules come over as a bit heavy handed but then they do nothing about drinking around the pool area from glasses and bottles.

Review 33:Our apartment was great as it had a fantastic view of the harbour and bridge. Pool access was also really easy. The apartment was just the one bedroom but was a really good size. Everything was in place for a lovely 3 days.

Review 34:No flat screen TV, long outside walk to pool, poor hours for exercise room. Room had a bed, old small tube TV (advertised as flat screen), one small window in the room that had no view, and not only did this "resort" room have no kitchenette as expected, it didn't even have a coffee pot, small fridge, or microwave. It was bare bones - I was very disappointed and was misled to believe I was going to stay in a high quality room when what I got was below what I would have had in a Motel 6.

Review 35:Your site for room included a kitchenette but on arrival we were informed that this was incorrect & we had to pay an extra US$72.00...not impressed. I asked for a refund but none has been forthcoming! No towels at pool & we were not fore warned.

Review 36:Views Balcony

Review 37:Room was a bit small and seemed dated. A/C controls were also outside the room and appeared to be for two rooms.

Review 38:The price for the location is amazing. It's significantly less expensive and only and extra 10-15 minute walk from the heart of Newport. Very convenient for visiting the Mansions, Fort Adams, and Castle Hill.

Review 39:I didn't like that the ac unit was controlled in the middle of 2 rooms. There was another couple in the room next to us who kept turning the ac on when it was already freezing. Plus we could hear everything they said, I can only imagine that they heard everything we said.

Review 40:It was chilly in the morning so the indoor pool was perfect but a little too much chlorine. The staff was friendly. They gave us a room with 2 twin beds, I asked if they had a king bed they checked, had it, and set us up with the new room!

Review 41:No shampoo or coffee, limited housekeeping. Nothing disastrous, but you expect at least the basic amenities you would find at a Motel 6.

Review 42:You can't beat the location or the view. It's nice to have a kitchen, too.

Review 43:The suite was spacious and accommodations to sleep 6. The kitchen came in handy, 2 bedrooms each with a tv avoids conflicts, and the dining room & living room created a gathering space for all, including another tv for family time. 2 bathrooms is important and the best views of the ocean from the rather small, but perfect little deck outside the room.

Review 44:Spectacular views! Working fireplace! Huge jacuzzi tub! 2 balconies! Full kitchen! Friendly staff! Grounds even in late April nicely maintained! Spacious suite! Will be back! :)

Review 45:Be careful when you book your room on this website because the descriptions don't match some of the rooms that are available. We ran into this issue as we were under the impression we were booking a suite and actually had not. The staff was very understanding of the issue, but make sure to contact the resort to confirm you are getting the room you want.

Review 46:The staff went above and beyond to make our stay a great one. From upgrading our room when we had trouble with the bathroom tub to allowing us to extend checkout, the staff truly made our experience incredible. And not to mention the suites are amazing with all amenities you could need and have great views of the water!

Review 47:Simple registration and check in, everything we needed was there, easy check out

Review 48:Good place to stay clean reasonable

Review 49:The view was spectacular

Review 50:We had to clean the room we paid money to rent. It was not refreshed daily.
