Reviews for Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa
Review 1:The hotel is amazingly designed and the grounds and pools are beautiful. The hotel is conveniently placed for the beach and plenty of eating options. Eating at the Seaview Terrace with live entertainment with the sea and sky as the backdrop was magical. The best bit is that the staff offer top notch service with a smile and a relaxed Aloha attitude - perfect! Jen, one of the concierges, couldn't have been more helpful in arranging tours and taxis for us. The in-hotel shop offering toiletries, food, pharmaceutical goods and gifts was a life-saver - an excellent facility as was the complementary laundry. All in all, an incredibly beautiful hotel offering everything we needed for a relaxing, comfortable but special 30th anniversary treat! A car rental is required if you wish to explore the island which I highly recommend you do. I found the hospitality and helpfulness of the people replicated wherever we went and the Island is stunning.
Review 2:There is really nothing to complain about.
Review 3:The resort was fabulous. The entire staff was very friendly, helpful and could not do enough for you. The room was very clean and housekeeping did at great job of accommodating our schedule. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 4:Very expensive. Might have chosen a cheaper room because you spend all of your time in the lovely public areas. Surprising at this level: no turndown service!
Review 5:Beautiful. Liked evening entertainment and food. Lazy River was fun.
Review 6:The major problem I observed was that the staff was very friendly to your face but as soon as you turned your back the eyes started rolling. I watched this happen across multiple days with both the hotel staff and the high end stores. Not a big fan of the attitude. Also 30 dollars for breakfast is a bit too rich for my blood
Review 7:Loved the 24 hour pools and lagoons. The resort was grandoise and lavish and huge.
Review 8:Had to reserve pool loungers early. Garbage around pool loungers. Concierge not very knowledgable. Gave us a bad dinner recommendation
Review 9:Rooms were well furnished with wonderful bathroom. Pools and gardens very beautifully landscaped
Review 10:In some aspects way too expensive. 15 dollars for a pool side drink and 20 dollars for a plain hamburger is just too much. Live parrots does not belong to resorts in this day and age. I'm sure they are well kept but it's just outdated and not good for the brand.
Review 11:Amazing grounds, gardens, pool areas! Absolutely beautiful all around. Great staff, attentive service. Also pool only for adults.
Review 12:Food/drinks were too expensive within the facility restaurants Rooms felt old, run down in need of upgrade. Did have the electronics upgrades, but for the price you expect nicer carpets and nicer walls, nicer facility
Review 13:The location is beautiful! The hotel itself is beautiful, the facility in general is beautiful
Review 14:I think the standard of the daily housekeeping service was poor as in the week we were there the rooms was not dusted or vacuumed and the toilets were not properly cleaned even though they had a self cleaning function. Further for the room rate ($$$$) the rooms need to be refreshed.
Review 15:The view was spectacular really amazing and unbeatable. The property is lovely and the included features in the resort fee were very generous.
Review 16:In one part of this beautiful resort, near the garden view rooms on the right side of the resort, the carpeting smelled of mildew, perhaps exacerbated by a lack of good ventilation. Very noticeable as you walked from the elevators through the hallways on the first floor. Also, the Croissants served at Halona Kai at the Maui Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa surpassed those served at the Seaview Terrace. Also, we would recommend Peets Coffee over Starbucks anytime. Consider switching.
Review 17:The location of the hotel is a prime piece of real estate. The views are spectacular. The way the hotel maintains its grounds, I.e., gardens, pools, views, service gets a 10 out of 10. The adult only pool is the best possible idea anyone could have thought about for the comfort of their guests.
Review 18:Paradise is expensive at $450 per night double occupancy, and we were off season. Food & beverage service around the pool maze was spotty. High prices were balanced by the quality of the property and the excellent food in the restaurants.
Review 19:Location, facilities, service, scenery, restaurants, rooms. We were greeted with leis (as was everybody) upon arrival. Staff account was high, providing excellent service. No long lines, no standing around waiting to be served. The main lobby is massive!. The ceilings must be 50 feet high. There are a good variety of restaurants.
Review 20:Unfortunately, the property is SPRAWLING - absolutely enormous - in which you can easily get lost and which makes the general atmosphere less than personal. Coupled with a curt staff, many of whom yell at or criticize each other within earshot of guests (we witnessed this in two restaurants and at the reception), one starts to really feel like "just another guest". The food quality for the money (very expensive) was not up to par. The food at Dondero's was heavy, thoughtless and disappointing. The food at Tidepools was fine, but exceedingly overpriced. The breakfast buffet and restaurant is extremely loud and bustling, made worse by crashing dishes being swept off of tables and into dish bins by the staff who can best be described as hurried, sweating, busy and stressed. In short, this beautiful enormous property is too vast to be personal and, for whatever reason, seems to be a stressful place to work for its overworked and somewhat nonchalant staff. If you are looking for a more peaceful vacation destination, consider a place that is smaller and more in touch with its soul. It will probably be better for yours.
Review 21:It is hard to fault the hotel on its comfort, cleanliness or location. The beautiful and grand property, situated along a scenic stretch of rocky shoreline, has everything you could want in terms of hotel amenities and roomy accommodations ... except a soul.
Review 22:A bit costly, but the nicest resort on Kauai! We only stayed 4 days here, and stayed another week on the island elsewhere due to cost. Luau very 'commercial- for a little more authentic, try another, for example, Smiths.
Review 23:Location! Spirit of Aloha. Very clean, spacious and has beautiful gardens, lagoons and beaches. Near best snorkeling spot on island! Pacific Dream Photography on site was an AMAZING experience, with exceptional work.
Review 24:Genuinely nothing
Review 25:This is a first class hotel - we had a spacious room with a balcony overlooking the adult only pool with far sea views. The gardens are tropical and lush, the marble bathroom was luxurious and the food was exceptional. The breakfast buffet has the largest range of hot and cold dishes I've ever seen, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. You won't be disappointed.
Review 26:Need to ask toiletry and other room service.
Review 27:I found out I am too old to walk long distances
Review 28:great room with view, excellent service
Review 29:Just the price wish it was a little more reasonable for locals . I live here was my little getaway
Review 30:Everything was nice room service was great
Review 31:Food at the pool bar sucks.
Review 32:Place
Review 33:Great location gorgeous property, great beach
Review 34:The scale of the resort, the pool and beach areas etc
Review 35:Wifi was off and on. Off more often than on.
Review 36:No electricity for over 1 day . No beach chairs or lounge chairs. Too many small kids . Rooms average , overpriced .
Review 37:View
Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:The facilities and gardens were amazing. The most beautiful ones from all our travel. There were plenty of restaurants to chose from.
Review 40:Lovely terrace
Review 41:Needed more food options.
Review 42:Bathrooms had no ventilation fans so it became very humid
Review 43:Fantastic pools, amazing views and excellent location
Review 44:Great location, lots of beach, nice rooms, unbelievable pool area and landscaping, all restaurants were good, and an excellent golf course.
Review 45:nothing
Review 46:everything
Review 47:Cushions on pool lounge chairs, slide off. Fan Palm tree totally blocked our partial Ocean view.
Review 48:Pool, service, good people on staff. Clean, up to date rooms.
Review 49:Bad: service at reception and concierge, loud weekend tourists with screaming kids, rather not for calm seeking tourists, rooms not in perfect shape
Review 50:The Garden
Review 51:Nothing. They are doing it right.
Review 52:Staff were all really nice. Great property and very well maintained and managed. If you need to relax in paradise this is your spot!
Review 53:Food was average and extremely expensive. We generally ate off site just due to the extreme added expense.
Review 54:Awesome pools and facilities. Gorgeous grounds, gardens and surroundings. The breakfast for us was included and the golf club setting, food and service was amazing!
Review 55:The lap pool should be available for all guests, not just spa guests. Iswim for fitness, my husband uses the gym. His was free but I would havehad to pay $30 for one workout in the lap pool.
Review 56:The lagoons, especially at night—no one uses them & you canswim foreverthe staff genuinely want to help
Review 57:That I had to leave!
Review 58:Beautiful property, very spacious, very well maintained, not overcrowded in any areas. Rooms were large, staff was friendly and attentive, lots of nice shops. Pool area is beautiful with many different areas to enjoy it from.
Review 59:Well located. We stayed four nights there and two night at the Marriott. The best restaurants and shopping are around the Grand Hyatt. That being said, the beach is all but user friendly.
Review 60:The pool and beach access. A restaurant open late.
Review 61:Amazin resort!
Review 62:The price was expensive.
Review 63:Loved the luxurious property!
Review 64:We went for our honeymoon. What a great place. Staff was very friendly. Great food, and amenities. Great beach steps away.
Review 65:With a bit more training the staff could reach Excellent. There could me entertainment available.
Review 66:The breakfast buffet is excellent.
Review 67:It's tough to get dinner reservations at the resort restaurants. Sometimes there were long lines at the concierge desk.
Review 68:Great views.
Review 69:We were very comfortable here service and knowledge 5 star Perfect grounds, as if from heaven. A golfers delight Would come back here again.
