Reviews for Timbers Motel
Review 1:I noticed several guests w/dogs allowing them in the landscaped areas that were clearly marked 'no pets'. Although there is an open grassy area directly across the street, perhaps a designated spot would be helpful as well.
Review 2:The staff (Justin & Jeff) were very nice & the room was super clean w/all the accessories (ie fridge, coffee maker). Great location & most things within walking distance. They were very accommodating w/all my questions. I will definitely be back my next visit to Ashland!
Review 3:Room had items that needed to be fixed but overall quiet room. Difficult to maneuver turning into parking lot and needed assist from students on street to find place as link gave us non-specific directions. Only coffee and several pieces of fruit left at breakfast and not at the end of the period of time. The site was too far to walk to the old town, which was the original intent.
Review 4:I liked the price!!!! The booking was easy and front desk clerk was great!
Review 5:The toilet took a really long time to flush. I found a bloody booger on one of the pillows when I first layed in bed eww.
Review 6:Bed was comfy. Room had microwave, fridge and coffee machine.
Review 7:Was given wrong type of room - reserved 2 queens and was given a single queen room. The man who helped us change rooms was barely friendly. Rooms had paper thin walls - we heard our neighbor quietly talking all evening.
Review 8:Location. Price.
Review 9:Mildly concerned about lack of security lock pins on ground-floor bathroom window. Would've appreciated an idiot-guide to operating shower-bath control. Entering and exiting narrow parking lot a bit problematic.
Review 10:Appreciated microwave and mini-frig and fact bedding wasn't tucked in impossibly tight. Very clean. Bedding seemed new. Roomy, good heating and lighting.
Review 11:Only feature I didn't like was hubs wifi didn't connect to all our devices but we dissent really need it since they had cable tv with channels we actually watched. Best place I've ever stayed in! Hotel didn't stand a chance I would choose this over any hotel
Review 12:It was amazing! The room was just the right size for our stay, but that most amazing feature was how clean it was. I didn't feel like the sheets were dirty or I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I was in love with this room. We travel a lot and I've never been this excited about a room. I was sincerely upset when I had to leave. The bed was so hard to get out of in the morning I wish I could take it with me. The restroom were spotless, they even gave us a brand new shower Mat and the toilets seemed steam cleaned.
Review 13:Was a little hard to find. Off the main road, no easy to see signs.
Review 14:Room had nice decor, and was comfortable & cozy. Clerk gave good recommendations on restaurants nearby.
Review 15:Front desk personnel, Jeff, was extremely friendly. Thee is a wonderful grocery store just behind the motel and an awesome pizza parlor right in the parking lot. Great place for the cost, nothing fancy, but clean and friendly. Will be back.
Review 16:The shower went cold after just a few minutes but that was my only complaint.
Review 17:Looked clean & smelled clean. Updated everything. Soft & comfy bed & pillows.
Review 18:Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Nice touches not found in normal budget accommodation: hair drier, ironing board, microwave and fridge.
Review 19:no room or table for breakfast no tea or herbal tea in the room (only coffe) breakfast not ready in time on Sunday
Review 20:proximity of convenient stores nature and animals all around
Review 21:The parking lot was small and I had to park farther away from my room than I was comfortable with.
Review 22:The checking in and out process was very easy. The front desk personnel were exceptionally friendly. The room was small but clean and comfy just what we needed after a 14hr drive.
Review 23:I think the ad is a little misleading as it states a kitchenette is included. Actually only some of the rooms have one. Although my room didn't have one, it did have a microwave and small refrigerator, which was adequate. Continental breakfast could be better with inclusion of cream cheese for the bagels, as choices were somewhat limited. Only english muffins or bagels, bananas and orange juice.
Review 24:It was very clean and quiet. You had to drive to town for any of the shows, etc, but was still a good location. I think the ad is a little misleading as it states a kitchenette is included. Actually only some of the rooms have one. Although my room didn't have one, it did have a microwave and small refrigerator. Staff was helpful in correcting a billing error on the first night.
Review 25:Great little motel. Wonderful restaurant around the corner, Omar's. Breakfast was just toast and coffee, but appreciated having a bite before getting on the road.
Review 26:The continental breakfast was awful. Cheap English muffins, over ripe bananas and no place to eat. The swimming pool was closed most of our stay due to high bacteria. The water was green. Manager just seemed to be putting in his time.
Review 27:Location was good. Easy access to downtown, restaurants, entertainment
Review 28:The wifi is very weak when the hotel is full.
Review 29:The place is really nice, the staff are great. It's located in a great spot in Ashland. The rooms are nice but a little small
Review 30:The facility is a little far from downtown Ashland. It is within walking distance if the weather cooperates. It was very hot while we were there and so we needed to drive back and forth from the town to the motel.
Review 31:The facility was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the beds and linens were excellent. This is an excellent value.
Review 32:The carpet was filthy but we were staying in a room (101) that allows pets so I get where the stains come from.
Review 33:Timbers is pet friendly, clean, and economic. Great location too. Perfect for the no frills traveler.
Review 34:Complimentary breakfast is coffee, juice, English muffin and a banana. Powdered additives for the coffee; no real milk or cream. Accommodations are very basic. Nothing fancy.
Review 35:Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is decent if you like to walk. Plenty of free parking. Restaurants and grocery store nearby. And, you can't beat the price.
Review 36:The older style air conditioner does not completely chill the room.
Review 37:While the motel entrance is a bit tricky to see, there is ample parking in the adjacent shopping center's lot. SOU dorms are directly across Ashland St..
Review 38:WIFI went off and on a couple of times but it was related to equipment failure and was back "on line" once they were notified for the problem at the front desk.
Review 39:Cleanliness. Bathroom, kitchen, flooring, were very, very clean and sanitary. Bed was excellent. Not too hard or too soft. Staff was very friendly and caring.
Review 40:Location. Was lead to believe it was closer to OSF. Also, the breakfast could have used a protein option, and a variety of fruit.
Review 41:Friendliness of staff.
Review 42:Reasonably priced, friendly helpful staff that goes beyond the norm to provide service, quiet location that is still reachable to theater district with a nice walk.
Review 43:The Chinese restaurant light stayed on until 4am. A roller shade on the kitchen window in 215 would block the light. Otherwise a great place.
Review 44:The rooms were clean, the beds were good. The staff was super. Very retro.
Review 45:Mixed up reservations - no apologies... Had to wait over 2 hours to get into a room that had a 2 foot stain on the carpet! Yuck - don't stay here. Nasty...
Review 46:The continental breakfast was lacking. Not a lot of room to get things. I ate at a great restaurant in walking distance so no big deal.
Review 47:Location, bed, free parking, near good places to eat, close to city center and the theater festival.
Review 48:The room and adjoining bathroom were both good size, very clean and had been recently renovated. It was an older 2 story motel that was a great value for Ashland and we were both very satisfied after a good nights sleep on a comfortable bed.
Review 49:Not crazy about the location of this motel. Although it was clean and tidy in the rooms, this is located around the campus with lots of young folks loitering about smoking and drinking beer, which gave me an uneasy feeling. Too much smoking for a non-smoking motel! Not really close to the main area of town as far as walking to, which would have been good given the scarcity of parking spots! Sink vanity in room made for child-sized persons, air conditioning unit mounted so high on wall it was more for amazon-sized persons. Room was partially renovated but still needs work.
Review 50:The price was about the best I could find for Ashland on a Friday night.
Review 51:- Booked a king bed through booking.com, but they called and said they only had a queen for the same price.
Review 52:-The bed was very comfortable - Nice table and chairs for work and in-room snacking. - Room was clean and had all the things we feel we need.
Review 53:My only complaint would be the clogged up shower drain. It grosses me out to stand in bath water while taking a shower. Snake the drain & call it good.
Review 54:Great location, excellent value, very clean, quiet motel with free Wi-Fi and cable TV with lots of channels. Five minutes by car to downtown, Oregon Shakespeare Festival theaters, and beautiful Lithia Park. Morning Glory Café (great breakfast) is nearby, Great American Pizza is next door, and Market-of-Choice (gourmet grocery, bakery and deli) is around the corner. Omar's Restaurant (great dinners) is a few steps away. We're looking forward to staying at this motel on our next trip.
Review 55:The rooms were a bit down at heel and the beds were a bit back beakingly soft.
Review 56:Rooms spotless and staff wonderful, great location and brilliant value for money
Review 57:Bed was too firm for me, but we had two queens & my travel companion thought it was comfy.
Review 58:Convenient, comfortable, affordable with a friendly staff. When I mentioned the bath drain was slow, the front desk confirmed it was the tub, not the sink.
Review 59:Close to college so a Friday night was a bit loud; air conditioner in room didn't work and it was stuffy. Not enough plugs for computer/cell phone. But that's the case in most older hotels.
Review 60:It was clean and very close to downtown Ashland; there was a small glitch when I checked in because they only had 4 pet friendly rooms that were booked, but they managed to accommodate me for two nights. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 61:We stayed in the family unit as a family of 5. We have two sons and a daughter, our girl always has to sleep on a couch or on a rollaway. I picked this hotel for the family room offering which was superb.
Review 62:The room was not well maintained. There were holes in the wall from previous fixtures. We stayed in room 101 and had a view of the garbage can next to the office. The room key did not work well at all. On our first night I almost could not get the door to open because the key and/or lock was so poor. Absolutely no artwork in this room. The knob for the fan in the bathroom was missing. Parking was poor... very limited. When I asked for an extra hour to check out at Noon rather than the 11AM timeline the desk agent said that was not possible because they were full. I would not stay here again. This motel needs to be cleaned and freshened up with a remodel/paint. I guess you get what you pay for. They could do better.
Review 63:The price was reasonable... at the low end of the market. A short walk to Starbucks.
Review 64:Bed linens clean but very old and thin.
Review 65:A modest motel, walking distance to good grocery store and many coffee cafes. Room is a good size. Need to drive to the theater but there is street parking if you go early.
Review 66:There was hair from the previous occupant on the wall in the shower. We found a previous occupant's underwear on the floor under the bedspread as well as a roll of medical tape. The room was small and hard to move around each other.
Review 67:The location was good and convenient to restaurants and stores.
Review 68:It was perfect for what I needed. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location, right next to 2 great pizza places and a health food market.
Review 69:Carpet was rather stained. Other than that, it was very clean.
Review 70:It was fair value for the money. The manager was very helpful when I left something behind. I asked for a change to a first floor room because my back was very sore, and got it, even though they were busy.
Review 71:Free breakfast was minimal, coffee, tea, bananas, juice, English muffin. Adequate but no great shakes, no milk for the cereal I brought with me. The shower did not seem to function so I took a bath.
Review 72:I really liked the bright non-smoking room, my first impression was refreshing. It was simple clean and up to date for an old style motel. Especially well located for visiting Southern Oregon University.
Review 73:would recommend choosing a 2nd floor room as our ground floor room was a little noisy because of active guests above us.
Review 74:very comfortable beds, very clean, great access to coffee, all-round great place
Review 75:Nothing. We don't have a single complaint. And we had a horrible experience at a Motel 6 a few days ago. No comparison.
Review 76:Clean and neat. Front desk help at night and in morning was top quality. Helpful and friendly.
Review 77:I could hear people in other rooms. If there is a way to book people in rooms above empty rooms below, please do. my upstairs neighbors were very noisy. Meager breakfast offerings. cold cereal and milk, more fruit selections, and muffins would be a nice addition.
Review 78:Close to downtown. I like having a microwave and fridge. Great front desk staff. good value. clean room, lots of space.
Review 79:The breakfast was an english muffin, coffee and orange juice.
Review 80:The guy working was very nice, everything was clean. The location was perfect. Out cars were in a safe place.
Review 81:While this hotel is an Ashland icon, it is old and the walls, windows and doors do not represent the best in structure. Very easy to hear people talking outside while I'm trying to sleep.
Review 82:Conveniently located next to Southern Oregon University and the room was comfortable and clean. Front desk gentleman was helpful.
Review 83:Nothing serious.
Review 84:This is an older motel that has been well maintained. It's clean and within a very short walk of 3 good eateries. Close to university as well.
Review 85:The kind office staff made our holiday visit special. Aaron is especially a gem of a fellow, who just makes you feel right at home and happy to be at the Timbers. The room is perfectly set up for travelers: clean, with real closets, sturdy fixtures, counter space in the bathroom, hooks, drawers and a comfortable furnishings. Enough room to even do morning yoga! I enjoyed the bedspread to the smell of the soap! Our room also had a bonus- a breathtaking view of Mt. Ashland when the clouds cleared. Thank you Timbers for making our holiday fantastic!
Review 86:Their continental breakfast consisted of bananas & bagels with butter. Towards the end of our week-long stay, they did bring out english muffins but that's it. We had to buy breakfast every morning which put me over my budget, it was very disappointing. I chose this hotel for the king size bed & the free breakfast.
Review 87:The Great American Pizza Company right next door is AMAZING!!!
Review 88:For the price, I can't complain about anything. Excellent value
Review 89:Truly pet friendly as in no cost for pets. Best Wi-Fi we have had in a motel. A great place for an overnight on a long trip.
Review 90:The room I booked on booking.com was a King bed, however there is a lackof coordination between the hotel and booking.com and they did not havea King bed when we arrived. The room was newly refurbished which wasvery nice, however the doorknob to the bathroom kept falling off. Thewalls are paper thin and the hotel is noisy until everyone is asleep. The deadbolt did not operate on the room. Our block of rooms wasspecifically no animals allowed, however our next door neighbors broughtin 2 huge dogs, so if you are allergic, don't trust that the roomwas not housing dogs. Way too far to walk to downtown Ashland. No decorin room, but new furnishings.
Review 91:It was reasonably priced, It had a continental breakfast that was fine, the rooms were clean and recently refurbished, the bed wascomfortable. The heat worked.
Review 92:No handicap accessible room available even asking when making the reservation
Review 93:Nice big room. Incredibly helpful and friendly night clerk on 11/26/14. A little off the freeway but not difficult to find.
Review 94:Parking was tiny and we had to circle around to find the driveway, but that is no reflection on the motel.
Review 95:The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly and the motel was just a stones' throw from the SOU campus which was our main reason for visiting Ashland. The room lay out was small but efficient and we had everything we needed.
Review 96:Bordering Southern Oregon University. Great walk up the Main St. of town to Lithia Park and back, 4.6 miles total. All American Pizza right next door for pie and suds and walk next door to crash.
Review 97:Check in ok except the person on the desk quite negative. If you have a question it will be answered quickly, but not pleasantly. Other guests mentioned the same experience. Doesn't seem to like his job.
Review 98:The room and bed was clean. Towels, soap et al neatly laid out. Refrigerator very handy for me. Coffee maker in room and micro for reheating was nice. WiFi very fast and appreciated. Good tv reception and variety of channels. Restaurants nearby.
Review 99:Wi-fi was intermittent. Difficult to find a parking space at the hotel if the pizza place was open.
Review 100:Very clean. Front desk clerk was friendly. Bed was comfortable. Great location.
Review 101:Guy who ran the desk during the day. (Not a big deal, we came by earlierthan check in time, he just said no, room wasn't ready and when wesaid we needed a bathroom (after traveling for hours), he just said no.Didn't direct us to nearest place we could use or have any kind ofpleasant social/customer service skill. Though, I have to say he didsay thank you when I turned in the key). Refrigerator froze my food.Continental breakfast was toasted English muffin and a banana.
Review 102:Price for the town. Tough to find cheaper. Guy who ran the desk atnight. Location next to a Market of Choice. Price. Comfy bed! Carmen thehousekeeper did a good job cleaning.
Review 103:Timbers advertised having internet access. I needed to work in the evenings, and could not get access. The staff were limited in their abilities to address wireless issues. If you advertise internet, you should have it, or be motivated to fix it in a timely fashion. We stayed 3 days, and no service.
Review 104:Cotton sheets and blankets.
Review 105:The Timbers is located directly across the street from SOU and the dorms--it couldn't be more convenient. The rooms were clean and comfy with a lot of extras. I will definitely stay here again. In fact, we've booked it again for when the whole family comes up to visit our SOU student for her birthday!
Review 106:Not much to not like :-) it was steps away from the best grocery chain in Oregon (Market of Choice) and centrally located. It wasn't a modern updated venue but it was cared for like a small, neighborhood motel.
Review 107:Staff was attentive, friendly, room was clean, homey, and we were pleasantly surprised to have a fridge and microwave for a late night cup of tea after seeing an outdoor play at OSF!
Review 108:Place provided two pillows per person. Room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly & excellent service. Will definitely book again when we go to Ashland!
Review 109:Not enough parking when it's full and you may have to put up with some noise from adjoining rooms.
Review 110:Despite being an older hotel, everything was clean and functional. The beds were very comfortable and we received a nice greeting when we arrived, even though it was pretty late. It's within easy walking distance of Morning Glory, Ashland's best breakfast spot. So you can save $50-$70 over the typical B&B.
Review 111:The room was a little crowded--a lot of furniture in a small space. Thecomplimentary breakfast was very skimpy.
Review 112:We wanted to stay downtown but we were too slow to get reservations. ButI'm glad we ended up here--the rates were much lower than a downtownroom and it wasn't that far, just a 5 minute drive. The nice thingwas that there was a great game store nearby and some other"regular" shops, so we also got some nice souvenirs at non-tourist prices. Fridge and microwave in the room was very convenient!
Review 113:access to resetting the AC shortage of soap suggest staying open 15-30 minutes past the plays getting out so we could get soap or towels if we were short (we were not in the room during the day)
Review 114:good condition - clean location for plays and food good price
Review 115:Noisy a/c. Ineffective a/c. The breakfast bar could open a little earlier or at least when 10 min til time could have let us in. For a traveler and early riser, 8:00 seemed a little late to be opening.
Review 116:I would recommend it for inexpensive lodging. It had a lot of stores/restaurants/markets in the immediate area.
Review 117:Breakfast was minimal. I just picked up a banana and a cup of coffee.
Review 118:Comfortable beds Handy location with excellent restaurants nearby (Omar's for dinner and Little Shop of Bagels for breakfast) Friendly, helpful staff Allowed to check-in early
Review 119:Wall mounted a/c, small pool beside the relatively busy street, extremely basic continental breakfast.
Review 120:Very well maintained facility, it appeared to have relatively new faucets in sinks and tub, very good tile work in restroom area. Great towels, free Wi-Fi, close to most everything and priced reasonably.
Review 121:The breakfast that was offered "until 11am" wasn't there. Maybe it is on a first served, gets the food basis.
Review 122:It was the best price in town at the time. We have stayed there two years in a row now. The cleaning ladies were very, very nice.
Review 123:We stayed four nights within one week, two nights on our way up to Seattle, then two more nights on our way back. First room (114 downstairs) was uncomfortably tiny and cramped, with air conditioner blowing in face all night, and uncomfortable bed. Ugh. Second room (upstairs) was spacious, well laid out, comfortable bed, adjustable-fan air conditioner mounted in rear of room, so no blowing in face while in bed. MUCH BETTER. Also on negative side, the "breakfast" was absurd- orange juice from a carton, a package of English muffins to put into a toaster (no cream cheese or peanut butter, etc) and a small bunch of unripe bananas (if you were lucky enough to grab one before they were gone). We will probably continue to look for other motel options for Ashland.
Review 124:Friendly staff. Conveniently located, walk into town less than 2 miles. Refrigerator in room. Plenty of linens.
Review 125:Room was a bit cramped and bed not so comfortable. Bathroom sink didn't drain, however staff took care of problem. Second front desk person was rude and not helpful.
Review 126:Value and location were good. Room and bathroom was clean and updated.
Review 127:Gentleman who checked us in was unbelievably rude. Behaved as if we were inconveniencing him by checking in (!?)
Review 128:The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Fairly quiet location.
Review 129:The air conditioner didn't get to the whole room. I wish we had had a fan with us.
Review 130:We loved the place. The young man at the front desk was helpful, the older man in the morning suggested a great place for breakfast (Morning Glory)
Review 131:Long walk to town, TV didn't work, Aircon not even in suite - one room freezing the other boiling.
Review 132:Price, cleanliness, staff, next to great Pizza place
Review 133:Although it said at booking that the queen room with a kitchen could fit five people, it does not. The person at the front desk kindly changed me to a three bed queen which worked well. I was happy with that even though we gave up the kitchen. The floor under the bed needed to be vacumed, it had straw wrappers, cup etc under it. Room was clean otherwise. The reviews are correct about the breakfast, so didn't expect any and brought cereal and milk for the morning myself.
Review 134:Beds were very comfortable and rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Although this is an older motel, there was a feeling of overall effort to have rooms comfortable for guests. Good value for the money.
Review 135:The attitude of the desk person who answered the phone when I called early in the day to say I'd be bringing my dog was not nice. Booking.com fails to tell proprietors that guests have requested pet-friendly room. The carpeting in the room was extremely stained (though apparently sprayed with odor-reducing solution). All rooms seemed to be marked as NO PETS so it's not clear if I got this room following many other pet guests.
Review 136:The location was convenient during my trip between Washington and California. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and even directed me to a dog-friendly park nearby. Though the room was on the first floor near the office and utility area, it was very quiet. Bedding felt luxurious, the many towels were decent and the room was clean overall. The room's amenities all functioned very well, including the easy-to-adjust air-conditioning. The microwave oven, the flatscreen TV and super WIFI provided great value. There were very-near family restaurants and market and 7-eleven, while the college is directly across the street. The pool outside looked inviting. I'd stay here again.
