Reviews for Koa Kea Hotel & Resort

Review 1:The lighting is poor in the bathroom. Dresser against wall is very run-down looking. Needs to be refreshed for prices you charge. Lighting there needs to be upgraded. Room had no view and next to fence/path where people walked. Dark feeling over-all. Prices should reflect what's offered/not offered.

Review 2:The employees were fabulous. From the outside entry to the reception desk, all were professional, warm, friendly and helpful. The food - sashime and sushi specials - excellent and the bartenders (I ate there) made me feel like I was at home. The décor and candles in room were a nice touch. Boutique Hotel is a nice feel, without the hustle and bustle of a larger hotel. Everything was more personal.

Review 3:Only option was to valet (which was very quick!). Immediate beachfront had a rocky entry. Beds a little too soft.

Review 4:Very friendly staff and concierge. Concierge even had pre-printed directional cards to any of their suggested activities and restaurants. Rooms very clean, sizable, and comfortable. Hotel was in a great overall location, just a short drive from many local attractions.

Review 5:Poor access to beach. Poor packed breakfast for early start one morning: $15 for about $5 worth of off-the-shelf items. Coffee machine in our room didn't work.

Review 6:Comfort and cleanliness of rooms. Good location for exploring different parts of the island. We would use this hotel again despite the downsides.

Review 7:I had to think long and hard about any dislikes The down mattress pads have been worn down creative peaks and valleys across the bed, which proved be quite uncomfortable from time to time. My only other gripe is the path to the nearby beach has quite a drop off, and becomes very congengested when multiple people are attempting to pass.

Review 8:Every staff member was kind and helpful, always offering valuable information, tips, sightseeing destinations, etc. The resort grounds were beautifully maintained, providing an exceptional area for lounging by the pool or on the pristine grass lawn near the shore. Comfortable rooms with modern design bring the entire hotel and resort together, creating a memorable and enjoyable stay. I will definitely be back.

Review 9:They only provide a comforter on the bed but a top sheet would have been nice to keep the temperature down and maybe allow some sleep with the slider open. We should have asked for one - probably would have gotten it.

Review 10:While Valet parking is a bit of an issue if coming and going a lot, it was convenient and the valet guys were an excellent help with directions, advice on weather and ocean conditions. The fridge and Nespresso enabled us to have light breakfast in the room each day. Very comfortable bed. Convenient and inexpensive snorkel and beach rentals, nice pool, superb location. Garden room was fine. Friendly staff.

Review 11:Signage. Thin walls between rooms (twice had to listen to arguing neighbours in middle of night). Expensive restaurant.

Review 12:Location. Waiter service in restaurant.

Review 13:Pool was clean and serene, however, a lot smaller compared to other hotels.

Review 14:Friendly Staff (Pam, Frank). Hotel had beautiful view of the ocean. All facilities were clean and high quality amenities were provided. Red Salt Restaurant, the hotel's only restaurant was excellent.

Review 15:I wish their were chaise lounges on the beach too. The bed was too soft and sank in the middle which was not good for my back. I loved the bed turn down service which leaves the iced water. Wish there was a better store on the premises to buy sunscreen, bug spray, light snacks.

Review 16:The hotel and grounds are so beautiful. I loved the fact that you could lay on chairs on the grass and overlook the ocean. The staff, especially the pool bar, amenities and car valets, were very friendly. Liked the location. We had dinner at The Red Salt and it was fabulous!

Review 17:Lunch service - both in the pool area and in-room was very limited. Beds could be larger and vacation longer!

Review 18:Staff was very attentive, location is the best in South Shore. And you do not have to deal with crowds in the swimming pool area.

Review 19:I expected more from a 5 star resort hotel in terms of amenieties and services offered. But ok the bed was super soft and you sink almost to the bottom needs an overhaul as well as the interior of the rooms . 80 's chique don't cut it for 600 $ per night I've sleptin better 3 stars with modern designs and equipments.

Review 20:All staff was amazingly friendly and always helpful and tried there best to make the stay special .

Review 21:Luxury accommodation in a superb setting with great views from our room. You can walk along the sea front and snorkel just in front of the hotel and see lots of fish. Ask for a room close to the sea. Might need to upgrade to get this.

Review 22:We loved the location and the intimacy of the hotel. The gardens are well maintained and overall we enjoyed a wonderful, restful few days at this special hotel.

Review 23:Probably the best service we have experienced. Staff are professional, friendly, courteous. Red Salt is the best restaurant in the area--one of the best on the island. Comfortable. Great beach. Valet parking included--never waited more than 30 or 40 seconds for our car.

Review 24:The restaurant (red salt) was excellent, though pricey. Nothing anyone can control other than tyhe parents, but the night we tried to enjoy eating there, a patron brought their young child who screamed very loudly almost the entire time we were there. Not what you expect in a high end resort that is not known for being a family destination and it did put a damper on the enjoyment of our meal.

Review 25:The service was truly outstanding, the location was too. If we had more time I would have loved to snorkel on the beach as it was right there. We did grab a drink our last night there and watch the sunset from one of the loungers. It was magical.

Review 26:The air conditioner was noisy, and it didn't cool evenly. Sometimes the room was too cool and sometimes too warm.

Review 27:Beautiful place in a lovely setting. Friendly staff.

Review 28:U shaped building is easy to get around but views are not straight onto ocean. But that didn't matter to me. Sitting on balconies a bit weird and close to other rooms Seems noisier in hallways toward ends of buildings

Review 29:The rooms are nice but still most of the area are older 70 type of buildings and architecture. The room was quiet but we were in middle of second floor

Review 30:We ate at Red Salt multiple times, all meals and the only meal that was memorable was New Years Eve dinner everything else mediocre.

Review 31:Staff was very nice- the cleaning staff/turndown service excellent

Review 32:I rather was puzzled why my empty martini glass was still at room after room was made.. Last night glass in the morning doesn't help for refreshing the room.. ^&*

Review 33:My red hot camero convertible was showered w purple cherry like berries smashed all over when I parked under the trees.. my vallet volunteered to wash down when i didn't know where to take..

Review 34:Ocean view, Amenity sheet options for arrival, picnic basket, pool bar, shower, friendly staff, guest services very helpful before arrival, helped us rent a car when none were available through other channels, helped reserve activities, beach equipment (snorkel set)

Review 35:We could not fault anything about this hotel. It was the best holiday we have ever had, and mainly because of Koa Kea hotel.

Review 36:Absolutely everything was perfect at Koa Kea. We could not fault anything about our stay. Our room was excellent, the bed was SO comfortable, the modern styling great, location awesome, and the restaurant was outstanding. We agreed to eat at Red Salt once only, but after the first night we could not go anywhere else. Every single dish was outstanding, the wine list excellent and the service friendly but professional. Love the free valet service. We will tell all of our friends and will definitely return!

Review 37:The only criticism I have is that the same drink i ordered by the pool bar was double the price in the resort bar. We went out every night to new places anyway so it didn't really matter.

Review 38:We stayed at Koa Kea for our Honeymoon and it was the perfect resort for us. We loved the boutique style of the resort and we got upgraded to a partial sea view room! Great location right on the beach and walkable distance to a number of restaurants. The pool was great and the staff didn't mind you using the pool and hot tub in the evening. The breakfast was great too, they gave us these free mini muffins everyday! Would love to go back one day.

Review 39:Really very difficult to think of anything

Review 40:Small in size so felt intimate Great proximity to 2 beaches Loads of dining options just a 5 minute drive away Extremely helpful and welcoming staff, from the valets, to the waiting staff, to the reception staff Comfortable room

Review 41:A little bit overpriced. It is sold as a very exclusive hotel, but it is a bit bigger than an exclusive Hotel

Review 42:Great restaurant and really helpful staff. Room is great but could be a little bit bigger. Excellent shower

Review 43:Pool not cleaned until 8am. Pool services not open until 9 for towels etc Pool bar not open until 11am Only umbrellas for half of chairs. Pool area not cleaned Only 6 cups of coffee free- $1 per cup after this Had to book all own excursions- little info available on available excursions Valet parking only- lots of tips!

Review 44:Location Room décor Good food in restaurant

Review 45:Staff was aloof. Did not seem hospitable at times.

Review 46:Location is ideal. Pool set up is beautiful.

Review 47:Amazing! Will definitely need to go back :)

Review 48:N/A

Review 49:The staff gave 110% and were very pleasant throughout our stay.

Review 52:Rather dull bar.

Review 53:Fantastic staff

Review 54:Pool is overly warm, not really refreshing.
