Reviews for Thai Guesthouse

Review 1:weak pressure on the shower

Review 2:Perfect location away from the crazy Main Street but close enough to shops and restaurants, hot shower, comfortable bed, big room, helpful staff, gave us free watermelon every morning, fast wifi

Review 3:There was a leak in my room but was immediately moved to a new room and given a full refund for that day so am still happy with the experience.

Review 4:Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location. So much to do in Kanchanaburi and this hotel is an great base. Nice seating area to socialise outside, we met some other travellers and had drinks on a few occasions. Also the host occasionally brought random snacks out for us. Overall a good experience and great value for money.

Review 5:Great location, clean, free bottled water in the fridge, free coffee...free extra bad for child...very friendly staff. You can also book trips...we would defenitely return.

Review 6:The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The premise locate well between the tourist attraction of Kanchanaburi and downtown. It is wonderful to have a bicycle ride in the afternoon, however you need to rent it yourself from one of the rental shop nearby. The guesthouse make you feel like back home.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:Very quiet and 2 minute walk to the main strip Bug and clean room The guy at reception was very quiet during our stay (always helpful though) but on the last day he offered us a ride to the station and negotiated getting the bus for free in the minivan, legend!

Review 9:Had I known breakfast was available I would have pre booked it.

Review 10:Staff very friendly. Lots of free water in hand. Very helpful to me in resolving an issue with a local motorcycle rental shop. Thai House manager spoke excellent English and resolved the matter. Nice big rooms very quiet location despite being close to all the nightlife.

Review 11:Great location if visiting Hellfire Pass, Death Railway and Bridge over the River Kwai. Great location and very nice rooms. Close to both the station, night markets. Nothing to fault here !

Review 12:the bed was the most comfortable bed we have had in Thailand. the location is perfect and very calm. we have had a great sleep. this guesthouse felt very cosy and we loved it!

Review 13:Nothing. Everything spot on.

Review 14:Outstanding value for money. Very clean, very comfortable. Big comfy bed. Nice shower. Excellent air conditioning. The young manager is extremely friendly and helpful. Speaks good enough English and is happy to advise, recommend and arrange for the guests. Second time visiting and will definitely go back again.

Review 15:Nothing really

Review 16:Lovely little guesthouse very close to the center but in a very quiet location. We stayed for a few days longer as we were very happy with the room. There was free coffee and tea all day and the owner offered us fruits from his garden.

Review 17:No river view, no breakfast even not in the nearby restaurants at about 8:00 am.

Review 18:Free coffee and tea while sitting in a poor garden. The stuff is very friendly, but business-minded and helps to arrange all tours e.g. Erawan waterfalls.

Review 19:Guesthouse has Perfect location. Near restaurants, deadrailway museum / cemetry / train station and nightmarket (walking distance) yet in a small quite street. Owner lady super nice, took care ofour girls (3 and 6) with mango, juice, cookie, walking around with them. Bridge is 60 baht (for our whole family) with tuktuk away. Or by train of course. Room is simple but good, beds a bit hard, but with airco, shower (hot available but we did not use) and towels. Free coffee available. If they have time ask for taxi service, saw them leave for bangkok, and they took us to our next location (3,5 hours drive) Hua Hin for a good price. We would come back! (Stayed for 3 nights to follow my grandfather in the war camps eg took train to nam tuk to go walk hellfire pass.)

Review 20:The toilet was leaking and they didn't clean our room the second day. However, they came to our room to switch off the fridge every time we left, so there wasn't much of a point keeping things refrigerated in there. There isn't a real reception and sometimes it was difficult to find anyone when we needed them. It's too expensive for what it is, have been backpacking around south east Asia and have found rooms like this one for a much lower price.

Review 21:The staff was very friendly even though they speak little English. They have free coffee and the lovely lady gave us some free fruit a few times

Review 22:Limited parking. There are only 3 parking lots in front of the property. One car needs to move when the front car leaves.

Review 23:Closed to convenient stores, restaurants and night market. Walking distance to the War cemetery. Only a short drive to the bridge. Owner is very helpful and friendly.

Review 24:It's not so easy to find. When you arrive don't think you're in the middle of nothing: if you continue on the street of the hotel, you will find dozens of restaurants and shops. Don't trust taxi drivers that say you that no travel agency are there: many are on the same street where all restaurant are.

Review 25:This place is more like a "rent a room in the family courtyard', not a guest house. Outside of the room was very messy.

Review 26:One person on the staff (the son), spoke english, so that was helpful. When we left a bag there, he worked with our next hotel to get it to us!! Also, the location was great for us- down the alley was a great veggie restaurant (Nuts), and around the corner was another (Ons). And the Bridge is a nice 40 minute stroll away.

Review 27:The bathroom was really dirty, dead insects scattered the shelf and floor. 2 showers, 1 for hot and 1 for cold, very strange and didn't work together well!

Review 28:We enjoyed the setting being away from the main busy road so had a quiet night. Wifi good connection. AC worked well. Good accommodation for a budget!

Review 29:Very friendly and helpful staffs ( the family ) wonderful - serene settings. i couldn't think of any bad points. perhaps the bathrooms shall be renovated. I would recommend to my friends.

Review 30:Hairs on one of the beds Hairs in the shower Shuttle to Bangkok was more expensive than stated due to extra charge that wasn't mention previously Staff could be more proffessional

Review 31:Location is central yet quiet Spacious rooms Good AC

Review 32:If I had to find something to complain about, the wifi reception was not perfect in the room I was in. It still worked just fine for email and browsing, just don't expect to stream some 1080p video or something.. really not much of an issue at all.

Review 33:It's not a luxury hotel, but thai guesthouse over delivers for it's price range. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The rooms spacious with great AC and (this is big for me) double curtains actually block out ambient light so it is dark in the room at night. The owner is very nice and even drove me to the bus station when he wasn't busy.

Review 34:The location was excellent, not far from restaurants and Kanchanaburi train station. It was quiet, no roosters to wake you up, so you can get a good nights sleep. The room was a good size and had a fridge and good a/c.

Review 35:Be aware that there is a dog, or 2 that bark constantly throughout the evening, left after 2 nights in need of a good nights sleep. I think the dogs belong to next door, so not entirely the guest house's fault.

Review 36:Location = Great Price, great value for money.

Review 37:We booked the room on the internet and were dissapointed when we arrived. Not that clean. The area arround is ugly. The personels make noises all day/night. The whole toilet become wet when you take a shower. This guesthouse is a normal Thai village family house, but not for that price (750BTH). It turned out that there are many guesthouse by the river, with better infrastructure offering double room for 250BTH each.

Review 38:The location, a bit away from the noises

Review 39:The guest house located close to train station about 5 mins walk and the night markets, has nice big rooms and beds with good hot water and fast WIFI. One of the best motels I have stay at including one for twice the price in Thailand, will stay again when in Thailand. The family who run Guest house were fantastic and made my family stay one of the great experience's in Thailand

Review 40:guesthouse seemed to be run by a young lad of about 17 who was a bit aloof and not to helpful with onward travel but maybe just a bit lost in translation

Review 41:nice location on the edge of the tourist strip, stayed 3 nights quiet apart from dogs barking all night, not the guesthouses fault but earplugs sorted next nights, rooms a good size, with hot shower, tv with bbc and a couple of English channels plus a fridge.

Review 42:staff could be a little friendlier - bed sheets were very soft and clean but mine had two cigarette burn holes - no breakfast or a kettle in room and bike hire would be nice - if they tried a little harder it could be great place - they just didn't seem that bothered either way or maybe they're more laid back in the provinces

Review 43:good location (a 30 baht bike from bus station) just off the main tourist strip so nice and quiet - decent wifi and basic facilities - good sized room - would probably stay again

Review 44:No restaurant but it is close to all nightlife spots in Mueng Kan so it'acceptable. Bike rental would be great improvment

Review 45:Location is perfect, close to all attracitons and town square. Walking distance from bys station hovewer it is better to take taxi with bigger luggage. Very quiet place hidden in the backyard.

Review 46:too far to walk to the bridge (2 km)

Review 47:Good place, natural, can see squirrels and hear the birds ,,,common place to sit outside ,free coffee ,near night market and Cemetery ,,friendly owner and nice.

Review 48:If you looking for a five star hotel including swimingpool and expensive minibar, don't go here. If you want to discover what true Thai hospitality is then you really should check out this place.

Review 49:This is one of the rare places I have been to where there is such nice and peacefull atmosphere. Note and his family do everything to make you feel comfortable. The location was pretty good. Even the bars were on a short distance, it was far away from all the noise. It is close to the nightmarket, were you can get all your food for almost free. The cemetary and museum is nearby. The bridge takes you a 30 minutes walk or five minutes by car. I was suposed to stay here for two nights, but extended it to a total of nine nights. Should say enough.

Review 50:There are water boiling facilities, but no tea bags are available. All other things are good.

Review 51:The location was good. But if you arrive at the busstation instead of the train.. Be prepared for a 2,5km walk. Or take a taxi. You are about 100m away from the street with bars and restaurants.

Review 52:They have no breakfast. Sometimes the staff was not available, but a not a big deal.

Review 53:good for sleeping, quite, comfrtable and clean. Hotel facilitate tours and it is located in a good area.

Review 54:Honestly nothing, everything was perfect, as backpackers we were really treated here

Review 55:Friendly Great location Helped strange tours and took us to bus station Complimentary items in room Comfy beds Nice touches Peaceful

Review 56:The room was clean and good value for money...The location was close to all the bars and restaurants..but far enough away to not hear the noise..The best thing about this place though is the staff...Note and his mother went out of there way to make us feel like a part of their family...I sprained my ankle while there and was unable to get out much...They would bring me snacks and fruit and herbal teas and even made me congee for breakfast one morning...Note also drove me around to see the sites of Kanchanaburi by car...They are a kind, generous and helpful family that made our stay at their guesthouse the best in Thailand.

Review 57:The window was very clear in the morning.

Review 58:In front of the room was the garden with wooden tables. Nice place. The room has air condicioned, bathroom and window to the garden.

Review 59:Very friendly and helpful staff who own and run the place.

Review 60:Ground floor room privacy would be an issue for long stay, could not pull blinds

Review 61:convenient to war cemetery etc etc

Review 62:10 minutes walking distance from Kanchanaburi railway station and night market. Very helpful owner.

Review 63:Not all the staff speaks english

Review 73:Helpful and nice staff. Free Nescafé was great.

Review 74:The owner of Thai Guesthouse was a sweet and kind lady. She was really helpful. And the location is good. A short walk from the main street.

Review 75:Good location, close but outside the main strip

Review 76:nothing

Review 101:Great Info's from the Owner, Central Location, Good Value

Review 102:Staff were not much in evidence.

Review 103:Large room. Close to busy street with cafes and restaurants, but set back so quiet.

Review 104:hot shower was a dribble

Review 105:staff, great wifi, cleanliness

Review 106:Great location, clean room, friendly family run guesthouse.

Review 107:Very clean - close to action but down quiet road - very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 108:Good location, clean and spacious rooms, friendly and helpfull staff. Very good value for money.

Review 109:Friendly, helpful staff in a good location. Basic place but it does the job and is good considering the price. Came with fridge, TV and airing/drying room for clothes

Review 110:The toilet facilities in the room - a BIG notice stating "No toilet paper to be put down WC" but nothing provided to dispose of it elsewhere. The toilet bowl always seemed in danger of overflowing (although it never actually did) when flushing. Urine flushed away O.K., but any excretia had great difficulty in 'disappearing' - it just kept coming back into the bowl. The owners really do need to 'address' this problem, which they are obviously aware of because of the notice.

Review 111:The people were extremely friendly and helpful. Itself in a quiet location down a side-street, but only around 100 metres away from numerous bars/small restaurants/shops. Only about 250 metres from the famous 'War Graves Cemetery'.

Review 112:Cigarette butts not cleared away daily from outside ash trays.

Review 113:Thai Guest house is in close proximitiy to good restaurants, sight seeing and evening market. Noisy clubs etc are close by but cannot be heard from the guesthouse. Note is a fantastic host and goes the extra mile to help you and make ones stay more pleasurable. Lovely area outside to sit and relax after a busy day. Very quiet neighbourhood and we always had a good nights sleep. Tea and coffee is always available. Very clean bedroom and shower room. Highly recommended

Review 114:Staff very helpful and very kind. Location is great because is quite near (1 block) to a main street although is very calm and peaceful. Great place!

Review 115:No negatives

Review 116:Lovely staff. Gave us a lift to places just to be kind. Also arranged a hire car for us at a cheap price which was delivered and picked up for us. Not the very cheapest but still cheap. In return Spotless room and massive double bed. Clean showers. Good location and very quiet at night. Would recommend to anyone going to the area.
