Reviews for Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel and Spa
Review 1:Would have been nice to have breakfast included but it forced us to explore Newport
Review 2:The staff were extremely friendly. They knew it was our 20th wedding anniversary and just minutes after check in they delivered chocolate covered strawberries and champagne-nice touch. We had a beautiful view from our room and the bed was super comfortable. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
Review 3:Not a thing!
Review 4:Loved the views from every part of the hotel~ great location, restaurants and staff were great! Room was huge, and very comfortable, with large windows. Great holiday stay!
Review 5:The bar area not comfortable at all, felt like Las Vegas not New England had zero comfort value, was quite upsetting as the rest of the hotel is so nice. It could be a great spot but there was no thought about making it a friendly romantic comfy place,
Review 6:Room was great, nice to be out of town with a water view.
Review 7:Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff and dining room staff. Excellent brunch buffet. Lovely view from our room. Excellent choice for a Newport getaway.
Review 8:Unfriendly staff. While breakfast was supposed to be included in price, they charged us more than $ 50 for delivering a breakfast for two by room service.
Review 9:The location is very good. The room was clean and spatious.
Review 10:We were very disappointed, mostly because the room didn't have any natural light (window) and we weren't told of this ahead of time. Also, there were tripping hazards in the room.
Review 11:Location
Review 12:The room had 1 comfortable chair and 1 desk chair. we read a lot and one of us were always stuck with the desk chair. The heat vent was at the top of a wall and part of the room didn't warm up nor did the bathroom.
Review 13:Staff, amenities and view.
Review 14:Nothing - everything was great!
Review 15:Hotel interior and room very clean, modern and attractive. Friendly staff and helpful cleaning staff. Great breakfast in the morning.
Review 16:The receptive and professional nature of the staff. Special thanks to Monica V, waiters: Jose and Suzette, Jose, housekeeper and Patti (makes the best omelette, ever!)
Review 17:See above
Review 18:The room and it's view was spectacular. The housekeeping staff was very attentive and friendly. The hotel bar and restaurant were extremely understaffed and created unpleasant wait time for even basic service. Found bartender "Maureen" to be overly aggressive and intrusive.
Review 19:Shuttle not well advertised so we couldn't take advantage of it. Heat difficult to control (hot and dry) Connecting room door allowed screaming teens to awake us at midnight. Very long outdoor walk to parking - if you self park. Pool is small, easily overcrowded, Breakfast plates were ice cold although food was hot. Toaster broken.
Review 20:Excellent location, shuttle to town available, nice outdoor area for the summer. Nice inside areas and views to waterfront.
Review 21:Absolutely perfect! Loved the experience. No downside.
Review 22:The room overlooked the water. You felt like you were on a cruise ship when we gazed out the first floor window! The location made you feel private and exclusive. Very close to the mansions, restaurants and shopping!!
Review 23:Works to the entrance driveway. This required an extensive distance to off load/load cases etc from the car park.
Review 24:Very professional staff, top quality accommodation and an excellent breakfast ! Parking was well located.
Review 25:Great room and great staff. It was our 27th anniversary and we were blessed by this lovely gift upon entrance to the room: bottle of champagne and three chocolate covered strawberries. Super quiet room. Loved the waterborne.
Review 26:Room service food is needlessly expensive. Ordered a $14 salad and the bill came up to $25. Only one restaurant seemed to be open late in the hotel.
Review 27:Nice looking hotel with nice amenities.
Review 28:I was charged 5 times for one night. Staff at front desk... Rude. It took over a week to have my money returned to me. I did have a great experience with one manager who tried to help .... The noise level in the morning is ridiculous 7 am .. Banging doors .. People having conversations right outside your door. Walls are paper thin! I had a late check in due to my work schedule, checked in around 930,pm,headed up to unpack and unwind, within 30 minutes I had security knocking on MY door saying I was too noisy... I tried to explain it was the next room as I heard it too. Just save yourself the hassle book somewhere else.
Review 29:The view from my room.
Review 30:The only negative is the parking situation. Wish it was a little more closer to the hotel.
Review 31:Friendly staff and very helpful. Clean and comfortable room. Breakfast was a great bonus as well.
Review 32:The sofa bed couch in my room was quite uncomfortable and I found it difficult to sleep in the bed - the m not sure if that was the bed or me though.
Review 33:The hotel staff provided great restaurant information and very good service. The view from my bedroom was lovely!!
Review 34:Upon arriving to our room we found dirty socks on the floor. They offered to clean the room but we would have had to vacate. I also feel like the room was in sore need of an update. Its dated and the bathroom should be gutted.
Review 35:The view from our room was lovely.
Review 36:We were only there for one night, but enjoyed it tremendously. The convenience of all the amenities and the friendliness of the staff were a very welcome experience. Had it not been completely booked, we would have stayed another night.
Review 37:The service for the restaurant was less than poor. We were told 20 minutes or sooner for the breakfast buffet, and it was well over 45 minutes with many available tables. The hostess seemed to disappear for long periods at a time. The restaurant was understaffed and the waitstaff seemed out of sorts. We also reserved a room with a KING bed and it was queen, which was okay, just not what we expected.
Review 38:We absolutely loved the view from our room. The spa services were amazing and the staff in the spa were super friendly.
Review 39:We had free breakfast we got there at 9:30 am for breakfast we were told 20 minute wait we waited 1 hr before being seated
Review 40:It was my husbands bday we went out for dinner when we came back they had brought us 2 cupcakes , strawberries and 2 cold iPa's it was very nice and not expected
Review 41:The only thing to dislike would be having to leave!!!!
Review 42:Thank you hyatt Newport!!! You made our stay fabulous! great staff beautiful views! Comfortable facility couldn't of asked for a better getaway!
Review 43:Front desk staff - less then welcoming. Front lobby drive closed under construction, unknown before check in. $20.00 'resort' fee - no option - paid for things that were 'included' anyway. Water pressure - shower - poor. Room clean up not guaranteed until 5:30pm - what!
Review 44:Dining room staff was great. As was the bell desk.
Review 45:Problem with reservation; no bell hop; poor valet service; got locked in the bathroom; window blew open every half hour all night...no sleep
Review 46:Location; breakfast service was terrific
Review 47:Maid service knocking on the door prior to 11 a.m. check out time.
Review 48:The room was nice with a beautiful view of the harbor. The breakfast was delightful.
Review 49:It was overpriced. Our down comforter was so old it was like a sheet. I had to put the heat on because the bedding had no warmth. The bathroom didn't have a fan. And the wood on the vanity was worn. The sink was slow, and the water pressure in the shower was weak. The breakfast was good.
Review 50:The hotel was in a good location because we had a wedding on Goat Island. So it was very convenient.
Review 51:Security knocking on door at night wanting to come in. We were talking in bed with TV on . Earlier than 11pm. Think cut off should be 11pm. Was with a friend travel with frequently. Our ages r 59 and 60! Really shame on you!
Review 52:Loved grounds and lobby.
Review 53:My friend tripped over an extended outdoor parking sign and hurt her toe before we even got to check in. Although the manager came over and had us fill out an accident report, we never heard anything back with regard to the clearly misplaced sign.
Review 54:Concierge was great!. Room upgrade very much appreciated although at a cost. Poolside dining a plus. Location plus, plus, plus. Activities offered good. The outdoor restaurant..Pineapple food was good. Drinks were very good.
Review 55:The layout of the hotel and the views were excellent. Very comfortable, Good food. Lots of activities to choose. The overall experience was top notch.
Review 56:The hotel is tired and rooms need upgraded as it is very expensive. Walls are paper thin and the outside building of the hotel is ugly for the superb location. There are delays with the valet parking it could be a fantastic hotel if the building is updated and rooms refurbished.
Review 57:Fantastic location with stunning sunsets, easy walk into town and we were there during the boat show which was lively. The outdoor areas, views from the hotel and the pool are lovely.
Review 58:hotel needs a major renovation. When we booked, I had reserved two rooms and spent over $1,000.00 a night. I was initially given a room with a view of a brick wall. The staff eventually switched us the following say but it was a disappointing start to a well needed, and long awaited time away with our grown children. It is not a typical "Hyatt" experience.
Review 59:location
Review 60:The prices of the spa services were high and their schedule was booked
Review 61:The hotel's great location overlooking Newport bridge and the bay. The hotel minivan that travels to Main street every 30 min. The Staff was very helpful when we requested to change to a room with a view
Review 62:I'd love more coffee creamers and sugars. I hate those little packs. Also, probably because we were there at the end of season, the bikes appeared to need repairs. I'd suggest they be maintained at all times to offer optimal enjoyment by guests.
Review 63:The fire pit by the shore at night was special. We really enjoyed the 11 mile bike tour. We got great exercise and saw beautiful sites along the way!
Review 64:The hotel is very dated and in need of a renovation - top to bottom. Although the facilities were ok, the pool was terrible. Cloudy, dirty with a slick of oil and drinking cups from the festivities the night before greeted you in the morning. Air conditioning was loud, clearly outdated, and windows needed replacing. Hyatt should knock it down and build a new hotel on this ideal location.
Review 65:Location can't be beaten. Room was very comfortable, staff was friendly, and facilities were ok.
Review 66:they're are actually no complaints the hotel staff and just the overall experience was very pleasant and would definitely recommend it and will be coming back
Review 67:The room was very small and I thought I booked a water view room with balcony but got a half window with no balcony. The walls were so thin you could here people talking in the next room .The breakfast was gross and expensive . There was also a resort fee which I think is ridiculous,(I paid 600 a night)I feel the shuttle into town should be included.
Review 68:The grounds were pretty and the view was beautiful.
Review 69:The vent in the bathroom didn't work resulting in a very steaming room in which to dress. The a/c vent on the ceiling dripped water all night onto the night able including my cell phone.
Review 70:Shuttle was very convenient, parking easy. Nice to have an outdoor bar to have a drink and enjoy the sunset.
Review 71:Outdoor pool was great . My son loved the games going on all day , playing with other kids. Easy walk to town for dinner and arcade. Definitely going back
Review 72:Checking in was very late. we came at 4 and got rooms around 5:30 Not enough staff at check in. Took too long for the staff to figure out the rooms.
Review 73:Menu could have been a bit broader.
Review 74:The bed was great! Services were unbelievable & the location was amazing! Highly recommend this place to anyone!!
Review 75:horrible over priced! No hot tub, the bed was extremely unconfortable, the towel looked dingy and low quality (I have better ones at home) not going back.
Review 76:Location, but we still drove into town
Review 77:Over priced food with limited selection. Booked a room with balcony and only received the room after three complaints and tipping the bell boy. Water leak from the roof during and after a rain storm.
Review 78:Beautiful views over the ocean.
Review 79:The hotel needs an update. The location is fabulous but for $428/night it should be updated. The rooms are miniature and the style is a late 80's modern. The pool wa s bit cloudy mid day and they had 1 waitress for the whole pool on a busy August end of week stay. They are losing out on a fortune!
Review 80:The location is spectacular
Review 81:Interconnecting doors - very bad sound insulation. We were disturbed both nights and early in the morning. Also the sound of doors slamming shut was heard inside the room.
Review 82:Helpful staff, spacious and clean room
Review 83:The service was a let down, along with the cleanliness of one room, which had dirty sheets upon arrival
Review 84:Great property and location. Very comfortable environment
Review 85:Tiny room. Chair too big for tiny room kept slamming into it! No balcony
Review 86:So wonderful! S'mores! Boat AND van shuttle! Helpful staff! Bday cake! Sunset toast! View!
Review 87:Too many children in pool. Would be nice to have 2 pools, one just for adults. No hot tub, what's up with that?!
Review 88:Lots of outdoor green space along the water/property. Lots of seating along the water. An outdoor bar/restaurant
Review 89:Restaurant Dinner service poor. Value of the meal was poor. Pool side bathroom was disgusting. Room was small with terrible water view.
Review 90:Location of facility. Ease getting to town.
Review 91:The outdoor pool needs to be open until at least 10 PM!!! They Need umbrellas on the deck for dining as it's very hot. Need movies offered for purchase on the TV. Need to offer more things e.g. Swimming accessories/snacks in the hotel gift shop. Minibars in the room would be nice as well.
Review 92:Awesome views. Friendly staff. Rooms had great AC. Good food and drink.
Review 93:The room was a little small and the location of it a bit odd. You had to go downstairs, outside and back in to get to the room. Dinner at the indoor restaurant was just fair. It was 4th of July lots of kids and lots of pet...the pool did not accommodate so many guests were fighting for seating. If you did not want to share the pool with many children this would not be the spot for you.
Review 94:Location, the views, the water, the shuttle access to town! Breakfast was good so was the light fare at the two outdoor restaurants. View of the 4th of July fireworks was great. The town is great and so was the food at The Canfield House.
Review 95:The inefficiency of housekeeping. I asked repeatedly to have maid service and shirts ironed. Very expensive for an outdated venue.
Review 96:Clean with perfectly pleasant staff
Review 97:no bath, the extra 35 dollar resort charge and the 500 dollar a night charge that did not include breakfast. waiting for the shuttle into town and back that only goes every 30 minutes and then half of them are full
Review 98:comfy beds
Review 99:A bit of the molding was broken on the baseboards in our downstairs bathroom--you never like to see that.
Review 100:We were travelling for our anniversary and they automatically upgraded our room and sent us Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries. Room was very comfortable with great views of the water/sunset. We loved the outdoor bar and the comfy furniture in the hotel deck. We ended up ordering dinner there one night.
Review 101:Our room was located over a noisy outdoor fan system - we immediately relocated with mediocre assistance. Facilities seem to be old and cater toward families' activities, not updated building and amenities.
Review 102:Room and bathroom interior features were very good. Lobby and outdoor deck and pool were very good too.
Review 103:The foghorn went off every ten seconds from 12:30 am until 7 am. Hard to sleep. Very little the hotel could have done. It wasn't helpful that the front desk person referred me to the coast guard. Assuming this is a regular occurrence, one would think that they could offer ear plugs.
Review 104:Helpful concierge and activities staff.
Review 105:The room was so small two people staying can't move around at the same time. The huge television blocked the fabulous view. Housekeeping was a train wreck. Poor service there and foget about having your laundry done.
Review 106:Location! Goat Island is in walking distance to the wharfs. Pineapples is a fun bar to be at for sunset. Shuttles are great if you don't feel like walking.
Review 107:Service was abysmal. We waited with six or seven other parties 15 minutes for resto manager to arrive for breakfast. She just deserted her post. Then were told we need to wait 15 minutes more to be seated although a table (which we were finally seated in) was obviously free. Valet lost our key and took 20 mins to retrieve. The facility could use a touch up. Very 1980s. Tiny rooms.
Review 108:Nice view. Fun pool area.
Review 109:The $35 resort fee was not properly explained at check-in, as being a daily fee. The desk clerk merely said "there is a $35.00 resort fee", which led us to believe it was a flat, ONE time fee. The same was true of the valet parking fee. The valet mentioned it was $5, but omitted the 'per day' part.
Review 110:The location, views, pools, spa & shuttle. You could fully experience the town of Newport & all it has to offer, and then quickly retreat to the serenity of Goat Island.
Review 111:Front desk staff was amazing. Cleaning staff, not all too friendly. Bed pillows very uncomfortable and small. Small supply of towels/cloths. Not sure we will go back.
Review 112:Being on the water was delightful. Walking distance to all the shops and other restaurants. Room was large and visually pleasing.
Review 113:Room not serviced one day. Would have liked a balcony to view bay. Water view is not worth the price. Breakfast was too pricey. Hotel old but kept up nicely.
Review 114:Shuttle service, comfortable clean room, good location.
Review 115:- AC in the room was out of control and blowing right into our heads, it was impossible to sleep with it and without it (since it was pretty humid outside). Since we were only staying for one night it kind of ruined our experience. - Spa services are waaaay overpriced. We tipped the masseuse generously since we were not told that the tips were going to be included in our bill, and afterwards felt like we were ripped off.
Review 116:Great location and view! Older hotel but recently renovated.
Review 117:The resort fee of $35 a day was a complete rip off. Also $20 to park. The Hyatt also charged our credit card $50 a day for incidentals. 2 days later and the $50 a day has not been credited. These "fees" should be included in the room fee. It's not cheap to stay there.
Review 118:We didn't leave the resort for 2 days. No need to, everything was right there. Hotel staff was great, we loved the bartender Amanda. The bed was so comfortable!! TV picture was amazing!!
Review 119:We did not like the ridiculous breakfast prices..We do not mind paying the cost but $4 for a small OJ or $7 for a pot of coffee that 1 person is drinking is absurd..We also weren't happy with the buffet..The omelettes were not good at all...And, the buffet selection was not good...Who doesn't have french toast and pancakes at a buffet? We also were disappointed that the cleaning service did not come to our room unless we requested but the morning we had to leave, they were knocking our door at 9am..They also knew it was my 30th birthday and there were no special touches at all..I feel if an expensive hotel knows you are celebrating an occasion, they could at least acknowledge that...
Review 120:We loved the view, pool, fireworks, shuttle service, and water taxis...
Review 121:my room. unfortunately was not what I expected for $625 a night. While clean the bathroom was very small and the closet wasnt big enough for 3 shirts. I had to take the ironing board out and put the shirts in sideways. I stayed at the Hyatt in Times square for $200 a night less and was in a suite
Review 122:The facility was awesome from the pool to the firepits, the lounges and tiki bar. The staff was even better
Review 123:The walls must not be well insulated because you could hear voices of other guests. also our location was in the corner near the entrance and was not as private. That room should have been less expensive...
Review 124:The free shuttle and chairs everywhere to enjoy the view. The staff was wonderful!
Review 125:Concierge was very helpful with suggesting restaurants. Nice patio ,pool, landscaping, and plenty of chairs. Great place to stay because you feel secluded from downtown.
Review 126:Couldn't get Tums after 8pm from the hotel store/Starbucks. A nice hotel like that should have small items like that for sale at all hours.
Review 127:The location is amazing. The views are breathtaking. The upgrade to water view is well worth it. I would go a step further next time and upgrade to a balcony with water view. Short walk to Harbor area. Plenty of areas to hang out with family and friends and enjoy a beverage, food, and the views. Nice pool, pool bar, and fire pit right next to the water. Lots of sail boat going by to watch...could go on and on.
Review 128:Located right on the water. Pool overlooks the water and the Newport bridge. Located less than a half mile from the main downtown area. The hotel has a shuttle that transports you downtown every half hour.
Review 129:Long wait to get into restaurant for breakfast- seemed disorganized. the coffeeshop/store should stay open later since there is nothing else available.
Review 130:great outdoor space- pool, patio, grounds were beautiful.
Review 131:I felt the hotel rooms were dated. I expected luxurious linens and comforter. The night we were there it was windy and the window shook and was so noisy we couldn't sleep!
Review 132:Everyone at the Hyatt was so friendly and couldn't do enough to help you. The shuttle driver, the valets guys were so nice.
Review 133:It www expensive and did not care for added hotel fee of $35 It was a horrible night of high winds and rain. Not hotel fault but kept up by weather. Not enough toiletry products in room
Review 134:Location Clean Comfy beds
Review 135:We did not like being sent to Captains Quarters in the back lower part of the hotel attached to the conference center. Total downgrade. Was it because we were a Booking.com customer.? This occurred in our previous hotel room we booked this winter . We were sent to a far corner of hotel and the HVAC fan is what we heard all night when we opened the outside door. We were extremely disappointed. Desk attendant rushed the check in, it was no wonder because it was a downgrade to location in main hotel we were expecting.
Review 136:Breakfast was an amazing selection and beautiful presentation. Bed was super comfortable
Review 137:Room was very close to drive in front door - 3 weddings first night with many cars leaving with doors banging and loud voices kept us awake for a long time. No towel rails in bathroom.
Review 138:Locatio
Review 139:The only bad thing is that u have to wait for the shuttle(which runs every 30 mins) to go back and forth into the busy part of newport. But been on a separate island gives it a more appealing feeling to it! Def go there
Review 140:This is a great place to stay! Perfect for honeymooners or a romantic get away!.. If u have kids theres also lots of things to do w them! Lots of space to walk around or jus to sit and enjoy the beautiful views of the water!
