Reviews for Dheva Mantra Resort
Review 1:Not enough staff at breakfast restaurant as I traveled on Thai long weekend, ordinary peroid should be fine
Review 2:Great Location near by the peaceful river , hotel decorations and design
Review 3:There was no staff by the pool on Sunday (11am to 1pm) and we couldn't order anything to drink or eat. When accidentally someone passed by, he said he couldn't take our order.
Review 4:The premises are amazing: huge swimming pool, large rooms, restaurant by the river. Service is good: staff generally speaks English (not common in Thailand), both our rooms were upgraded free of charge, babycots already installed in the rooms prior to our arrival, waitress recommended dishes at the restaurant for dinner and she remembered what drinks each of us had by the pool in the afternoon. Good breakfast selection: eggs station, waffles, croissants (average), Danish pastries, donuts, cheese plater, freshly squeezed orange juice and a very large Asian selection. Nice fried chicken and bbq skewers by the pool for snack.
Review 5:We paid cash for our stay but the hotel also took payment on my credit card. The hotel have admitted this was a mistake and they have communicated well with me but after 4 weeks I still have not had my refund as it is stuck in the "bank". Not sure what to do now
Review 6:The swimming pool was amazing, had cocktails in the pool - Amazing
Review 7:I have been there for 2 times and both of 2 times there were many guests from tour group all around the resort! I felt like no privacy and no free space for rest.
Review 8:Thai decoration & green environment
Review 9:The hotel restaurant service portions that are small so it is expensive to eat enough to get full. Also their soups were strange and watery.
Review 10:The grounds are impeccably manicured. The hotel is elegant and well maintained.
Review 11:Not a 5 star hotel! They tried hard but the service and quality of the food was not value for money. Very little air con in the lobby and restaurant areas so got hot in the afternoons. If they lowered their prices then it would be great.
Review 12:Beautiful grounds and lovely rooms
Review 13:Breakfast was poor, hotel was a bit run down, No atmosphere in the hotel ,very expensive for drinks at hotel 250 baht for a coffee and same for a small beer. prices in the town were a fifth of this. please note the free water only applies to the glass bottles - we drank the plastic ones in error and had the hotel chase us when were leaving to say owed 100 baht for them - after already spending 2000 baht on drinks etc - made us feel like common thieves when it was an error on our part - extortionate when can get them for 10 baht outside the hotel.
Review 14:Room was large and bathroom good.
Review 15:No bad experience, just all positive.
Review 16:Fabulous hotel, colonial style with very friendly staff and manager. All staff from reception to the pool boys and luggage boys are so welcoming and always with a smile. The rooms look over the River Kwae and was extremely peaceful. The hotel was very quiet and beautifully decorated. The pool area was very clean with infinity pool overlooking the river. We ate twice at the poolside bar and the food was great. The prices are standard four star prices for food. You can pay 350 baht for the hotel taxi to take you into town one way. You can pay around 60 baht for the return journey by tuk tuk which takes much longer but a great experience though the hotel will come back to pick you up. Would not hesitate to come back to Dheva Mantra as we had a fabulous time here.
Review 17:Bad espresso and extremely expensive. All food and drinks were expensive at the resort. Noisy karaoke, barely no view from the rooms due to Garden. Ground floor rooms are dark.
Review 18:Good breakfast, nice friendly staff, beautiful resort however slightly outdated. Good location to explore Kanchanaburi if you have a car. It's not located in the centre.
Review 19:The price of hotel was cheap but all extras were grossly over priced before they added service and vat which should be included in advertised prices. 3500 baht plus plus for a massage in Thailand!! And an almost empty hotel. There must be better value places to stay for next times!
Review 20:A nice room but next a noisy boiler
Review 21:Staff can hardly speak English, breakfast with poor quality food (so not good taste), far from everything (20mins from Kanchanaburi).
Review 22:Spacious & clean rooms, TV Channels Fox & Tv5monde, good wifi, beautiful swimming pool area.
Review 23:- internet connection doesnt strong keep reconnecting - the cleanliness of the terrace need to be improved
Review 24:- the serenity of the place is by the river and mountain view can brighten your day
Review 25:The resort is located a bit far from stores and taxi stands. We had to take the 350THB minivan ride from the hotel to get to the death railway museum. Later we adventurously took different tuk tuk to move around and got a contact of a taxi driver. The bathroom of the room smells a bit of mold due to the absence of windows. All in all the place is great and I recommend it.
Review 26:Quietness of the resort and great view of the Kwai river. Staff welcomes you with a 10min massage:lovely!! rooms are spacious and comfy. Great pool and atmosphere.
Review 27:Booked 2 rooms and were given on different building. Walk way connecting to dinning hall is slippery when rain. Not much verities on breakfast buffet.
Review 28:Swimming pool is big both adult and child sessions, water feel warm all day not sure if there is a heater or not. Hotel layout and atmosphere is nice. Location is good, not far from attractions and restaurants.
Review 29:1500 baht for an extra bed. Is a high price. The bed is hard and small 350 baht for the bus. to town The hotel is far away from the city. it should be free. with this distance
Review 30:Lovely resort. lovely pool and nature
Review 31:The breakfast is very boring. It is poor for a 4-5 star hotel.
Review 32:Excellent location,it has own riverside of River Khwae Yai which is a historical famous river of Kanchanaburi province. Beautiful , romantic look and colonial style-designed buildings are situated around tranquil courtyard. Swimming pool was never overcrowded always pleasant and you can see the hill, the river and tamarind trees simultaneously as you are in the pool !! that's amazing.
Review 33:It would've been helpful if the weekday desk person spoke moreEnglish. Comprehension was a problem for me...He was very polite &kind, though - no one's fault. Location seems to be w/o localtransport so there was difficulty about getting into town. I didn'tfeel comfortable taking the hotel's limousine, as suggested, and hadhoped there was a guided tour.
Review 34:Good, friendly attentive staff. Architecturally stunning buildings onbeautiful & beautifully cared for grounds w/generously sizedrooms. The salt-water pool is large, lovely & perfect temperaturew/shower & towels available. I would venture to say nothinghas been overlooked for guests comfort. Beautiful dining room - foodis plentiful, though I'd prefer more Thai dishes. Spa hasexcellent crew working there. I can recommend the massages & thesalt rub was heavenly.
Review 35:Staff during dinner time seems a stretch. Maybe few guests dine in anyway.
Review 36:Everything just falls into place when you step in Dheva Mantra. From parking, checking in and resting in your abode. Wonderful staff and hotel altogethe.
Review 37:Isolation Being charged for a bucket of ice Restaurants being closed without notice to guests Booking a limo transfer from Don Mueang Airport for 4200baht & getting a pretty basic van! Pool bar not open Verandas & stairwells need to be constantly cleaned to remove rodent droppings
Review 38:Quality of resort, the design is beautiful The pool Staff were friendly
Review 39:Mosquitos
Review 40:Clean spacious high ceiling room, with wide balcony that has a fan and seating . We can totally enjoy both in-room facilities and all around hotel in general. The food at Rice barge restaurant is very good and has an authentic test both for thais and foreigners . The staff are attentive and can give recommendations to guests with service-minded attitude.
Review 41:Should include a complimentary shuttle bus in morning and afternoon so guests can visit the town. The only way to go into town is to take a private car from the hotel that costs 350 baht one way.
Review 42:Amazing architecture, interior design, hospitality, river views and surrounding gardens!
Review 43:We came to kanchanaburi for a two day trip and looked for a good hotelto stay in. Since we travelled at August and it's considered an offseason, we found this 5 star hotel to be relatively cheap. As you enterthe hotel it hard not to be overwhelmed . This hotel is b e u t I f u ll !!! It colonial design makes you feel like you are in a movie.Everything is uniquely designed. The surroundings are jowl dropping -the gardens, the pool and the river which flows near - absolutelyastonishing . The rooms are specious and clean and, the bathroom is bigand accessorized, exactly what I expect from a five star hotel. Thedinner at the hotel restaurant is also great and breakfast as well. Eventhough in the first night the hotel was almost empty - they made tastyand fresh dishes. The service was excellent and staff members were veryfriendly. Summering it all - its a great and unique hotel. We willdefinitely recommend it to anyone visiting Kanchanaburi!
Review 44:breakfast dinner restaurant only. booking did not include breakfast, at 550 baht per person, we chose to have combined breakfast/lunch outside the hotel grounds... (2 persons can get quite a meal for 1100 baht in Thailand) if the morning meal had been incl. at a maybe higher room rate then this would have been a bonus
Review 45:staff very friendly, room cleaned to a very high standard
Review 46:the menu, the food, expensive food & drink, 5km from town and limited transport. They charged my room to my credit card from my booking automatically and would not allow the facility to pay in cash on check out, did not tell me till I was leaving. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort, sorry its mot!
Review 47:Room, wifi, pool, some staff were very helpful.
Review 48:We stayed at the dheva mantra at the end of June and it was deserted! This usually wouldn't be such a problem but half of the facilities were not available. We were not able to try the restaurants and had to result in eating food in the lobby. Very poor for such a well established hotel- should be providing everything it's advertises all year round.
Review 49:Had a lovely pool!
Review 50:Very hot in reception and restaurant, we had to ask several times for the air con to be turned on. Staff seemed reluctant and supplied a small fan ?
Review 51:Very nice hotel, great food, however, the restaurant was buzzing with flies for the three days we were there.
Review 52:Beautiful gardens, pool and location
Review 53:Breakfast was terrible with little variety.
Review 54:Lovely pool, restaurant on the river was beautiful and the staff were wonderful.
Review 55:One of the nicest hotels we've stayed in in the Kanchanaburi area. Used as a base to visit friends and will definitely stay again.
Review 56:Little bit away from everything. Must offer a free bicycles for quests to go around.
Review 57:Great atmosphere, cleanliness, beside the river.
Review 58:Quite away from the town , would be difficult if you didn't have a car.

Review 73:Price was reasonable Pool menu was good
Review 74:Great swimming pool and fantastic breakfast
Review 75:Breakfast fresh fruit could have been more selection otherwise good
Review 76:The pool was one of the best features, also the staff were all very helpful
Review 77:too big. The reception is so far from the room and also from car park.
Review 78:the room is spacious.
Review 79:Food choice very limited,. Hotel could do so much more. It has great potential but lacking in service
Review 80:Great setting, comfortable hotel
Review 81:Overpriced drinks at B580 for 2 small bottles. Thai food was poor and over priced.
Review 82:Location, room, surroundings and most of all the staff
Review 83:Staff very friendly and efficient. No complaints. Good location
Review 84:We liked everything about the resort and could not fault it.
Review 85:Nothing, really,
Review 86:The pool is amazing. Breakfast was pretty good, the staff are very nice and the hotel is high quality. Park 2 minutes down the road at the Felix resort and you are at the other side of the Bridge Over the River Kwai
Review 87:The hotel was nearly empty which felt very odd.
Review 88:Wonderful place, very luxurious with large rooms and polished teak floors. The spa and massage was excellent.
Review 89:Lack of staffing in pool bar, restaurants weren't great either, shuttle bus into town advertised but didn't exist
Review 90:Beautiful and well-kept grounds
Review 91:A little too far from Kanchantaburi. Ok if you have your own vehicle. Or don't mind paying for the hotel taxi service.
Review 92:Beautiful building, Pool and Gardens. Breakfast to suit all tastes. River flowing past the bottom of the grounds. We walked to the Bridge 3-4kms.
Review 93:Restaurant on riverside, within the grounds did not serve good food but the price should have ensured this. Breakfast was also not cheap and for the price charged, there should have been a lot more choice.
Review 94:Friendly staff. Beautiful building with well tended garden area. Room was very nice.
Review 95:Internet very slow, location a bit far from town, and the hotel booked taxis/hotel shuttle expensive. Very few guests, the hotel seemed empty and deserted.
Review 96:The hotel is beautiful, and very nice rooms, garden and pool area. The surroundings are amazing, just next to the river. Beds excellent, bathrooms as well, and all very clean.
Review 97:Limited menu choice. Cheap champagne. Uncomfortable sette. No mosquito repellant. Poor lighting. Poor internet speed. Poor TV choice
Review 98:Peaceful. Good Chef
Review 99:If you want the River View, you have to stay in separate building which take some time to reach the main building.
Review 100:The room is spacious and well equipped.
Review 101:This hotel only opened it's main dining room on one night , and westayed for five nights....this mean't we had to drive into townevery night...fortunately we had our own rent car.Mainly it's guestsare groups of company employees. I would not stay again.
Review 102:Lovely rooms...very spacious and well equipped
Review 103:The inability to speak English, no fittness everyday when told so, almost no guests, very desolate and impossible to get on-line
Review 104:The surounding, the tranquility, the style..
Review 105:Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and its facilities. Was a short drive from the town but ok. Only real complaint was the price of beer but we were on holiday so only a minor issue.
Review 106:This resort is quite far out, kind of in the middle of nowhere. But you can hire a car to take you there.
Review 107:This is a wonderfully beautiful place to chill out for a few days. Rooms, pool, grounds, staff are all top notch.
Review 108:The first room we were given had some horrible stains above the air-conditioner, which made the room look ugly. I complained and was given another room.
Review 109:The design of the hotel is excellent. The grounds are lovely. The pool and facilities are also very good. Breakfast is very good.
Review 110:WiFi connection in the hotel room was poor with frequent interruptions. We had to go to the lobby to get a good wifi connection. The breakfast buffet was disappointing and undeserving for a hotel that claims to be 5 star. Travelling to Kanchanaburi by car from Bangkok takes almost 3 hours. That is 150km on main roads and through just about every village along the way.
Review 111:The hotel staff was very friendly and supportive
Review 112:Staff, while polite, were not very intuitive when it came to service especially at the pool. Poolside service was not available and had to be sought out.
Review 113:The grounds and the rooms were very well maintained and beautiful.
Review 114:Hotel area is not suitable to go to River Kwae

Review 123:Location next to Kwai River with a large swimming pool
Review 124:The location is a little further from the river than I expected.

Review 126:A bit too far out of town
Review 127:Swimming pool was gorgeous
Review 128:Wi-Fi was sooooo slow. Could not connect 2 devices in the room.
Review 129:The pool. The restaurant. The service and the size of the room.
Review 130:We Loved the hotel ,very peaceful
Review 131:Toilet only working after repair by housekeeping
