Reviews for Cedarwood Inn
Review 1:The bathroom set up was rather odd and more than once I hit my knee on the toilet. The sink is in the main sleeping area so happy I was traveling alone.
Review 2:Cedarwood Inn is conveniently close to the home I was visiting for Christmas and close to the quaint town of Ashland. It was clean, warm and reasonably comfortable. Staff was friendly.
Review 3:It was kind of old and worn down. One of the main reasons we wanted this place was it had a stove but when ever we tried to use it, it would trip the breaker.
Review 4:We like having three beds four our family of 4.
Review 5:It's not the flashiest of hotels and the carpet and paint isn't the newest, and you have to drive 5 minutes into town, but still good value for the $$.
Review 6:Big room with king bed, lots of space, two sinks, and it was pretty quiet. The sauna was out of service while we were there, but we didn't have time to use it anyway.
Review 7:the locatioon was good, the price was good, te shower had no support, railings. i understand that the one handicapped wasprevious ly spoken for, so they should have more i was scared to move whileshowering for fear of fal;ling. the staff was great, the bnkst was orinary, need longer hours..the tv in relation to its location was way to small the seating facilities were inadequate
Review 8:Place smelled, dirty out-dated rooms, smell of natural gas around the laundry facilities causing nausea. Cheap, thin towels and stained. Brought my own.. If I could have found other accommodations, I would have.
Review 9:Location
Review 10:Didn't get the exact room we reserved, but it ended up being bigger so that was ok!
Review 11:Very friendly front desk staff, large clean room with comfortable beds. Easy to find, close to lots of markets and stores. Decent sized mini fridge and loveseat in the room.
Review 12:While it looked like the paper plates in the breakfast area were compostable, there were no receptacles to put them in except garbage. I would like to see more sustainable options plus recycling and compost bins.
Review 13:Nice big room with fridge.
Review 14:The breakfast was a lot of bread type food, a selection of but not too much else and you had to take it back to your room to eat. The base of the heated pool looked broken, we didn't use it so I may be wrong but it put me off going in.
Review 15:The bed was huge. Very close to the highway going through Ashland.
Review 16:Bathroom was missing toiletries and not properly cleaned Breakfast too cheap, it is not that more expensive to provide nicer breakfast supplied
Review 17:Bed, location, large room
Review 18:We went hour out of way to stay there. We got there a little after 9pm. We chose this place because on booking it said 2 pools steam room sauna. Upon arrival we were told that the teachers in district asked if pools and other areas be closed at 9pm because of students living at hotels. A major disappointment to our 13 and 6 year old. Also informed a basic contentinal breakfast. We get kids and lugague in room I go down stairs and he informs me that they don't take prepaid credit cards and we have to check out. I ask for a few mins to find another hotel he says that's fine if security escorts me and waits. I say we will just drive and find somewhere. Just refund me my money. He says I have to get the exact change he gave me to give me the exact bills back I have him huge hassle. Over all horrible customer service huge disappointment that we are on summer break and cant use any facilities. Never ever staying here again
Review 19:Nothing
Review 20:Room did not feel clean and had a poor smell. The fridge was awkwardly positioned and a number of little things needed repairing. Overall facility was grimy, breakfast options were poor, and the gentleman who checked me in was very apathetic
Review 21:Great value and location, and I enjoyed the pool.
Review 22:I loved the fact that the floors are laminate and so easy to clean. I felt that I could walk barefoot on the floor (something I rarely do in a motel). The room had a comfortable bed, nice bedding but not much in the way of towels. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Review 23:The bed was hard, springy, uncomfortable, and I felt very itchy under the covers so I slept on top of the covers for the night. There is an old musky motel smell.
Review 24:Receptionists were friendly and helpful.
Review 25:Lighting in the room was poor for reading. We also had trouble adjuxting air conditioning for the night.
Review 26:Breakfast (lots of choices) on your pleasant deck
Review 27:We were given adjoining rooms in easy access to the pool as we requested. The rooms are spacious with sinks accessible separate from the toilet, and lots of mirrors. great value for a family and located fairly close to the center of Ashland.
Review 28:Super place for a great price. No frills but all the basics were covered in a fairly spacious room. Fridge with a freezer than actually froze, a microwave, and sink and counter space made for a great food prep space.
Review 29:Very poor customer service, rude employees, pool dirty, shower head leakingwifi not working properly, customer accomaidation below average
Review 30:The breakfast and hot tub was the only thing good there and it was justa walk to the college
Review 31:I made the reservation in May, cost was given, ($59) no mention of the fact that between when I booked and the season changed, the cost was then high season $15 more each night. Not fair, you should have said the season cost changes on a certain date..
Review 32:Staff very sweet and helpful.
Review 33:Dirty bed sheets, dead (big) bugs inside the picture frames. Stains and over all smell in the room. We were expecting a cheap motel, but not a standard this low. For the same price there is other chain motels wit a much higher standard.
Review 34:Slightly older rooms w/ poor lighting & musty odor. Easy to hear through the walls...
Review 35:Close to SOU; quiet neighborhood. Desk staff was very friendly & helpful.
Review 36:None.
Review 37:The staff at check in was great, making it fast and easy. The room was comfortable and clean and everything in the room working as it should. I recommend staying at Cedarwood Inn.
Review 38:We parked our car or I should say our sons car in the wrong place and forgot to register his car he came later than we did. They were rude to us about the mistake that we had made and I think they could've made some attempt to find out who's car it was. We parked our car or I should say our sons car in the wrong place and forgot to register his car he came later than we did. They were rude to us about the mistake that we had made and I think they could've made some attempt to find out who's car it was. However we shouldn't complain too much I suppose because they didn't tow the car. I just think they were rude about that mistake
Review 39:Location. Rooms are being remodeled. We have stayed many times and basically are satisfied
Review 40:This motel is under renovation, although there is no notice. Some rooms are complete and nice. Our room was shabby, plumbing poor, furniture banged up.
Review 41:good location in Ashland.
Review 42:We requested no stairs, and were told they did not receive that info from the online booking, and could not accommodate that request. The place is old, held together with duct tape, and we would not recommend.
Review 43:The front office wreaked of Curry. The beds were hard as a rock, and I felt like I was going to roll off. The bathroom was tiny. We had four people using the two plates and three bowls in the kitchenette. The room was advertized as having a "balcony", which was just the walkway outside the room.
Review 44:The pool was the only thing I have no complaints about.
Review 45:I didn't like the fact I was given a room which had a recently defrosted refrigerator full of water, left open with a towel in front of it, apparently left by housekeeping. I just naturally bailed it out myself, later thinking I should have called housekeeping.
Review 46:I liked the quiet serenity about the place, even though it caters to tour bus loads of young people. My room was fairly sound proof. I always have earplugs in case there is excess noise and did not need them.
Review 47:I was told the AC was on (it was, it just didn't blow cold), that there was no one there to look at it that night, they didn't have a fan I could use and it was suggested I open the window and door.
Review 48:Leaving
Review 49:Their was hair and dirt on the shower soap holder, dust all over. They asked to see my service dog registration even though they allow small dogs their.
Review 50:They first gave me a key to an occupied room. Then I had trouble with my key. Then the toilet overflowed, and they had to find me a new room. The choices for breakfast were very limited.
Review 51:After the bad stuff, they did give me a larger room.
Review 52:The indoor pool was closed for maintenance. The pool was the only reason I choose the place. The room was rite in front of the outdoor pool which was green and nasty.the tvs are old box tvs and y he bathtub and kitchen where dirty. I would never stay again. It looks as people are living there renting them as apartments.
Review 53:The family suite was big.
Review 54:Room obviously hadn't been thoroughly cleaned: found wrappers and a hair clip in open area. Toilet didn't flush very well. Light switch didn't torn anything on. Needs some general repairs, but really, nothing horrible!
Review 55:Close to downtown and quiet. Bike shop close by for rentals. Great food within a mile or less. Convenient location to freeway, but far enough away to never hear traffic. Great towels and quiet fridge.
Review 56:Musty smell, window was wide open at 9pm when we arrived. It took 2 hours to heat up the room. There was no thermostat. The heat was either on or off. I had to get up at midnight to turn the heat down and then again at 4:30 to turn it off. Bathroom floor looked dirty.
Review 57:Wet carpet, run-down appearance of the room(walls nicked, old worn carpet and furnishings, cracked tiles in the bathroom). This made it feel dirty
Review 58:Large room with a table and chairs. Didn't get to use it, but the sauna/steam room and spa looked nice!
Review 59:Heated pool bordered on cold and not much larger than a hot tub. No pots/pans/spoons in the kitchenette. Pool towels were shabby. Did not have extra pillows or towels.
Review 60:Plenty of space for my three children and I. Bed and bedding was comfortable. Conveniently located close to the highway. It was quiet despite having a group of high school students during our stay.
Review 61:Pool should be open past 10...smoking should be discouraged in outside walkways.
Review 62:Suite was very affordable and satisfying. Second time staying....no reason to stay anywhere else. Unless you want to be right downtown or in an expensive, swanky joint.
Review 63:The headline says it all...great staff, very comfortable room with a kitchenette, right near the University with great stores and restaurants...about two miles from the park and downtown area.
Review 64:I didn't like that the wifi wasn't good thats pretty much it.
Review 65:It was a nice place for the price! And it's close to everything. I enjoyed my stay.
Review 66:Only minor complaint is that the bed was hard.
Review 67:We really like the tile bathroom and how clean the room was. Front desk staff late night was really nice. Steam and sauna room made it all worth it.
Review 68:Little to no cell service in our room and very poor enternet service. The indoor pool looked a little dirty so my children didn't want to swim. The shower pressure was poor. There were no cooking vessels or utensils and not much in the way of serving dishes.
Review 69:If you have an upper room you would have a beautiful view. Unfortunately we learned the hard way that there are no family suites on any upper floors. Therefore, after booking a family suite with a view online we were very disappointed upon arrival.
Review 70:There was a terrible fan sound coming from another room ALL night long that made it very hard to sleep. The sound began after office hours so there was no one to complain too, we suffered all night. We complained in the morning, and the staff met us with complacency. They didn't care nor acknowledge that there was an actual problem. Poor poor poor. We'll Never stay here again.
Review 71:My friends couldn't stand to stay there, because when they arrived, it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly--there was a broken glass and balls of hair. The streetside room also must have been near where people took smoke breaks, as she had smoke drifting into her windown incessantly. We had to check out the next morning, and got a room at the Bard.
Review 72:Great two room suite with two bathrooms and a kitchen in between. Outside our door was a patio off the street, with an outdoor swimming pool.
Review 73:breakfast not so great but plenty of coffee.
Review 74:location and price was great we travel to watch are son play football at sou we have stayed at several hotels but this is the one we stay at for the next 3 years
Review 75:The room was large and had a great feel and was very well designed with the sinks separate from the toilet and tub. I've never gotten so much for so little.
Review 76:Indoor pool needed cleaning. Need to update breakfast room - they said that's in their plans.
Review 77:Clean, simple, older motel. Staff was very friendly. They're working on remodeling. Fridge, sink, microwave in room. Outdoor pool was beautiful!
Review 78:The door needs to be repaired, the deadbolt is very difficult to engage. Also, the fan/heater adjustments were broken. It was supposed to be on low adjustment but was stuck in auto which made the fan go on and off all night long.
Review 79:The motel was nicer than expected, the exterior a little older and run-down but the room was reasonably clean and very large. I was put in a "quieter" part of the unit but of course the walls are thin and I could hear the neighbor, but no traffic noise outside.
Review 80:1. Wi-fi and phone signal were both non existent in our room. Even where signal was good, wi-fii speed was the worst I've experienced. At least it was free.2. steps, steps, steps 3. Smell of "carpet fresh" was extremely strong 4. Hot tub was right outside our door, and people were using it past midnight and the posted hours were only until 10 pm... No-body policed it! It should have been locked! 5. Breakfast hours were too short and too early.
Review 81:1. Room size! Very spacious2. free breakfast! 3. It had a nice funky "vibe"
Review 82:Wifi somewhat inconsistent -- off & on; in & out...
Review 83:Relatively inexpensive & quiet at night. Basic amenities. Nothing fancy; OK for the price.
Review 84:A/C wasn't cool enough
Review 85:We needed a jump start and asked the young lady at the front desk if they had a maintenance person that could help. She replied, "I can help you!" and jumped to her feet, ran to her car and did. Thank You.
Review 86:The bath mat in the bath tub was old. If you took a bath rubber pieces would float up into your bath.
Review 87:Barbara, who checked us in, was very nice and helpful. She walked around the motel, greeting us in the morning. She was very helpful in pointing out places to visit in the area. The room we got, was nice and big. It was quiet and clean.
Review 88:I am old and I was on the third floor with no elevator. The young man that checked us in was not friendly. Hotel is a bit run down.
Review 89:The price. The lady the checked us out was very nice.
Review 90:Leaky faucet in Rm 418. I notified front desk upon checkout.
Review 91:Very helpful blonde lady at front desk :) .... Assisted me in finding certain locations in Ashland.
Review 92:They need to replace the plastic lounge chairs at the pool--all were cracked and ready to break if used. Breakfast hours were too early and short...and we weren't even told where or when by the desk person when we checked in. Newer linens would be nice too.
Review 93:Price was low compared to many hotels in the area. Room was spacious and quiet. Nice to have a good-sized refrigerator.
Review 94:I didn't like the brown water that came out of the cold tap when I ran a bath. That breakfast finished at 0900. Perhaps a notice at the reception would be helpful.
Review 95:Only one bed in back room where we wanted to put the kids (though we were able to get a roll away bed). A bit dated inside. Breakfast a bit boring (my kids did not like most of the options).
Review 96:Very spacious, with two rooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The kids loved the pool too! Fantastic for families! Very easy to drive into town. Great natural foods store nearby (sushi and burritos are great there)
Review 97:Breakfast bar closed at 9am, towels were yellow and frayed. Older motel, if carpets and linens were replaced it could be much nicer.
Review 98:Location was good, price was right. Staff were nice.
Review 99:If you're looking for something standard and comfortable, Cedarwood is perfect for you. I needed a place to stay last minute, and booking it online was extremely easy. The facilities were fine, and the staff was extremely nice!
Review 100:We had a terrible experience at this motel. I was driving north from visiting family in the bay area with my 11 year old son . Nowhere on our reservation did it say that the office closed or that we had to check in by a certain time. During much of our drive through the mountains, we had no mobile signal. When we reached the motel, it was close to midnight. The office was closed and there was a phone next to the door that said to call a number for after hours service. I've done this for late check-in at other motels as well. I tried several times before actually getting the phone to work (the numbers stuck). Finally, someone answered and I was told that they had tried to call my cell phone three times and that the motel was closed. I checked and did have one missed call from Ashland. They had charged my credit card, which meant I did not have enough funds to get a room at another motel in the area (we tried and others were full or out of our price range). I was exhausted and so was my son, but we ended up driving straight through to our home in southwest Washington. They need to specify office hours/check in hours. I saw that I am not the first customer to have this experience. I was told that I would be refunded the charge. I am awaiting that.
Review 101:I am unable to comment.
Review 102:The bathroom fans in adjoining room a bit loud at 6:00 am hard for a light sleeper like myself to stay asleep through
Review 103:Courteous staff, nice pools & steam room & sauna clean easy to operate. The hot portion of Breakfast was awesome biscuits with the usual offerings but included hard boiled eggs & real half & half for coffee
Review 104:Spacious room. All amenities, nice furnishings and cedar paneling in a nicely decorated room. Friendly staff. two pools. A very relaxed stay. I checked in early for free and really enjoyed my visit.
Review 105:Some of the pool furniture was broken, no big deal though. Not really walking distance from theaters but we knew that before booking.
Review 106:Even our street facing room was quiet. The pool was, thankfully, not in the parking lot like so many motels in the area. Clean and quiet enough for the price. A good value for the area.
Review 107:The door to the room needs to be replaced or sealed properly. There was daylight showing around it which also let noise in. If you are a big breakfast eater, get there early. If you snooze, you lose. We got there at 8:30 and the gravy was gone, the eggs were gone and they were not replaced even though they serve until 9:00. Not a big deal with us, but might be to others. Shower water pressure not so good.
Review 108:The room was wonderful. Large, nicely decorated, big comfy leather sofa, two comfortable queen sized beds. Located in a residential area. The outdoor pool looked great. Short drive into the shops and theaters in Ashland. House of Thai with great food just a block away. Found the staff to be friendly and helpful. And, unlike some of the earlier reviews we read before our visit, we found our room to be clean.
Review 109:Needs updating...
Review 110:This place desperately needs updating. However, for the price, its the best around. After looking at several hotels online and weighing my options, I realized that this is one of the best deals out there. We enjoyed our stayand would definitely recommend it!
Review 111:Extra fees for a pet. TV was wonky, they have dish for pay channels, and the old style set up was not very intuitive, and there were no instructions for it. It's 2014, please update your television capabilities. No where to walk a pet, I asked at the front desk and was told just to go around the perimeter. There's actually a nice cemetery nearby, as well as a pretty neighborhood that are great options - why didn't staff mention that? One staff member I asked for help about the TV just turned and ran away from me. Weird. Location is pretty far away from the Shakespeare Festival, I had wanted to walk but needed to drive there instead - luckily parking in the town center is easy.
Review 112:There are two pools, one heated indoor pool and one unheated outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was really nice. I also used the sauna briefly and it worked great. Breakfast was fine, not good but not really bad. There are a few restaurants nearby if what they offer does not suit you.
Review 113:The wifi wasnt always great, the rooms are outdated, and lamps and clocks were unplugged in the rooms during two of our stays.
Review 114:The price, the size of the rooms, the two pools, the gracious staff.
Review 115:small size of room poor wifi service limited choice of bkfast options and lack of recycling
Review 116:location pool wide range of facilities (bkfast, fridge and micro, etc) price
Review 117:Toilet needs some maintenance as it would run until handle was jiggled. Entire motel was in need of little fixes here and there... Peeling wallpaper, small holes in wall, paint chipped. Staff was not the friendliest in the world but they were professional. Bed was rather uncomfortable. Overall this motel needs some TLC from the owners and is a fair value in a great location. Probably better motels with slightly better rates in the area.
Review 118:Good breakfast, with a decent selection. Pool was very clean and well maintained. Room was clean. Wi if was easy to connect to with a solid signal all around the motel.
Review 119:I liked that this place had a pool however it was hazy water when you went under. The breakfast was decent. They had a few selections. The water for showering took forever to warm up and th end could use replacing as they are old and sunken in and kind of itchy as far as the sheets.
Review 120:Hard beds, dirty rugs, slow wifi, staff not very friendly except the maid. She was very nice.
Review 121:This hotel was on a nice property full of trees. It was quiet.
Review 122:our bathroom was dirty, lots of nasty hair in tub and dirty and smelly, and our towels were dirty , like they just got refolded I went and asked for new ones, they were so bad and I would've went somewhere else but I already paid on credit card , lesson for me to look at room first
Review 123:big rooms ,nice rooms, decent breakfast,
Review 124:Our room had two queens... needed to get a room with a kitchen... We tried the bed furthest from the door and the heating/cooling unit. The mattress sagged in the middle. The next night, we switched to the other bed. It was much better but the noise from the heating/cooling unit was right there. Checking with the other members of our family, the couple with a single queen room, said their mattress was lumpy and dipped in various places. The last couple in our group had a king room and said the mattress was fine. Overall, this was the unpredictable element of our stay.
Review 125:Our rooms were right next to the hospitality room where there was a nice deck with table and chairs. They were quite handy for use when we ate our other meals and just wanted to enjoy the setting. The pools were both clean and inviting if a little small but adequate for the usage they received. We liked the abundance of outdoor tables and chairs. The kitchen was in its own room with a door that closed shutting out the refrigerator noise at night.
Review 126:Could definitely be cleaner. Much noise from normal walking above coming through the ceiling. Sound proofing is poor between floors.
Review 127:Enjoyed the location, the grounds, the pool, the diversity of guests.
Review 128:carpeted floor was not clean bathroom was not clean and repairs done looked tacky windows and screens in bathroom and corridor were not clean and secured had to sign bill with ok to reclaim damages to room if after motels inspection determined damages, rather than inspecting prior to our departure.
Review 129:relatively inexpensive easy to find pool flat screen tv
Review 130:A lit far from downtown and the Shakespeare festival
Review 131:Room was spacious, beds very comfortable, nice & clean, two pools, lots of parking, handy to mini mart.
Review 132:The awful reek of bleach never went away. The tv reception was fuzzy. My wife got a towel with a hole in it. The shower nozzle was too short.
Review 133:The AC worked well. The coffee was surprisingly tasty.
Review 134:Great price but poor value. Electrical hazard lamp next to my bed - the socket was pulled out of the lamp base, dangling. Not enough plugs to have the lights and TV/cable operating together. Staff had no particular desire to accommodate us. AAA symbol displayed but they are not actually on the AAA approved list. We left after one night and went to Best Western.
