Reviews for Ivy Lodge
Review 1:The innkeeper Don and his wife were so welcoming! And this Inn was gorgeous! I just wished we could have stayed longer :) The pumpkin pancakes we had for breakfast were great, too!
Review 2:The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. They stayed and talked with us and let us know about places to visit. They also offered a special discount deal to the 3 mansions decorated for Christmas. Each bedroom, and most of the other rooms in the Ivy, included working gas fireplaces, which were so cozy. The bedrooms were individually decorated with lovely bedding and comfortable mattresses. The entrance had a full view of the staircase which wound all the way up to the guest rooms. A wonderful Victorian home.
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:Location location location The house is gorgeous Breakfast is delicious Nighttime snacks was a pleasant surprise We can't wait to return to the Ivy Lodge
Review 5:The tub did not work and I would of loved coffee or tea any time of the day.
Review 6:The staff was great, the location was perfect, the Inn was beautiful and the Owner just lovely.
Review 7:We were there for a wedding and there was only one mirror overThe bathroom vanity. No full length and no place to put on makeup because bathroom lighting was very very dark.
Review 8:It was quaint and quite lovely. Room was smaller than I thought but just the same lovely. Breakfast was great and the cookies and brownies left out in the dining room were great for when we returned late. Can't wait to go back!
Review 9:I really don't have anything negative to stay. Both my husband and I liked the Ivy Lodge.
Review 10:Everyone was very friendly - both staff and guests. I love that no one was slamming doors like they do in hotels. This is our first time at a B&B and would definitely recommend the Ivy Lodge and/or stay in another B&B in another town again in the future. They were even kind enough to do a little birthday celebration for my husband at breakfast.
Review 11:We had no complaints. All Good!
Review 12:There was a mix up in the room assigned to us. The owner got personally involved and offered an amicable solution for all. I thought the staff went the extra mile to make our stay special. What more could we ask! We will certainly return.
Review 13:Staff was friendly and helpful. We had an early morning half marathon and they put out cold breakfast so we could eat at 4:30AM. Also helpful and flexible in allowing us to shower up after the race.
Review 14:The location was perfect - there is a bus that runs all day on a loop - $6 daily pass - very convenient for touring the mansions. The bed was so comfortable! My sister and I shared a queen - lovely room - fireplace and large bathroom. We truly loved our stay here and would highly recommend it - it was also in a safe area and close to the mansions rather than on the marina which is further away. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops.
Review 15:The place is beautiful, well kept, comfortable, excellently furnished, with an eye on the details, and run in a very friendly way. Don't expect elevators to go to the second floor: they do not belong there and would be out of place. The house is quiet and functional with plenty of space for privacy. We had a very, very pleasant stay.
Review 16:They were accommodating from before we even checked in. Arranged for a late check in. Very knowledgeable on all events. Over all a great visit!! Will recommend them - without hesitation!!
Review 17:I didn't know how to access the free Wi-Fi, but I didn't ask anyone since I left after a stay of one night.
Review 18:My room, The Trunk Room on the top floor, was quiet and well-air conditioned on a rather hot summer evening. The breakfast was cooked-to-order and delicious.
Review 19:no complaints - the decorative piano could use some tuning lol!
Review 20:Staff, Bed is so comfortable, food is great location strategic between harbour and the mansions
Review 21:This bed and breakfast was lovely. It was a unique experience in an historic town. Very conveniently located near the historic mansions and the wharf. I could walk to all and then come back and relax on the porch with a glass of lemonade.
Review 22:Quiet ambience, lovely porch to sit on with coffee in the morning, comfy bed, welcoming hosts/staff, beautiful wood paneling & stairs on entry, easy parking.
Review 23:This place is well located if you have a car...and we did, so it was not a problem. I suspect most people visiting Newport would be driving.
Review 24:Lovely historic home beautifully maintained and very comfortable. We had a ground floor room which was ideal seeing we had heavy cases. Plenty of places to relax and soak up the atmosphere of the past. Very helpful proprietors
Review 25:Don greeted us and showed us to our room personally. The room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, hotel was within walking distance to Cliff Walk and Mansions
Review 26:Could not tell you anything we didn't like.
Review 27:The staff was fantastic, always a big help. Plenty of snacks, a fantastic breakfast. (Strawberry-pineapple pancakes). Loved the Cliffs which was a ten minute walk. Very close to the mansions, which is a must. Breakers was the best. Drive to Thames Street, lots of shops.
Review 28:This is like staying in a mini Bellvue mansion ! Tea, coffee, juice and snacks 24 hours a day. The breakfasts are the best we have ever had and as we all sit around a large dining table the interaction with other guests is amazing.
Review 29:The Ivy Lodge had an extremely friendly staff that was flexible with check in times and had coffee, tea, water and cookies available all day. They accommodated our 6 month old with a crib and high chair. A hot breakfast with cinnamon waffles with apples and cranberries and sausage was served as was beyond our expectations compared to prior experiences.
Review 30:Don was an excellent host. Location was a block from the Cliff Walk and Salve Regina. The staff hand dipped strawberries as a birthday treat for my husband- best we ever had! The ambiance from the foyer to the common areas to the dining room to the wrap- around porch and bedroom was spectacular. Decorating with gorgeous antiques and the delicious breakfast just put it over the top.
Review 31:Don and Jacqui not only made us feel welcomed but then spoiled us with their gourmet breakfast and warm smiles. The inn was magnificent and our room was really comfortable. As we drove back to PA are only thoughts of returning was when.
Review 32:no elavator, at our age climbing the stairs was difficult. Location was secluded, peaceful yes, but felt isolated
Review 33:Innkeepers very cordial. breakfast was excellent
Review 34:Could hear every sound from the neighboring room (bathrooms must have shared plumbing and thin walls - was woken up by the sound of their sink turning on! 1 Big dining table for breakfast, my husband and I had to sit among a family with 5 children, it totally ruined the breakfast experience, couldn't leave table fast enough. Would have liked to linger and read the paper with coffee, not happening there with that crowd.
Review 35:Staff very friendly and helpful Coffee and snacks in the lobby area Breakfast was delicious Great location to Mansions
Review 36:The bed could use an upgrade but it wasn't terrible and that is truly the only complaint we had.
Review 37:The house is beautiful and well kept. The owners were very friendly and engaging. The breakfasts were delicious. We very much enjoyed our stay!
Review 38:My first time staying at a bed and breakfast...I am not a breakfast person and felt bad I did not take full advantage of their hospitality and amazing food...not their fault but mine
Review 39:I loved the proximity to the campus...one more year and my daughter graduates. Fantastic building. Owner very gracious. informed my to think ahead to graduation....close proximity. positive experience
Review 40:We enjoyed the room although I would pick one on the second floor next time. The food was excellent. We wish we would have booked another night but we will go back.
Review 41:Hot breakfasts were uneven. Swiss eggs were great. Pancakes the next day less so. Wifi also very spotty.
Review 42:To stay at such a hidden gem off a quiet street so close to the Newport Mansions was unbelievable. Spent one rainy day just relaxing with a book and homemade sweets and hot tea in the parlor. Could walk almost anywhere. Will be back.
Review 43:No complaints.
Review 44:I loved the character of the beautiful lobby. The rooms were clean and well kept with everything you need including makeup mirror and hairdryer. The owners were helpful with tips on what to see and where to dine. We thoroughly enjoyed our cranberry pancake with sausage breakfast. Convenient to the mansions. I would stay there again.
Review 45:Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was difficult to bring our luggage in with 2 staircases. It was very warm and muggy inside the house due to painting on the exterior.
Review 46:Don was very nice and full of good information and recommendations. Our room was very comfortable, clean and no detail was missed. The location was PERFECT.
Review 47:Our room was not what I expected at all. We were in the attic essentially. The room was small but decorated nicely. I do not recall seeing a picture of this room on the web site. I think $300 per night was high
Review 48:Location was great, easy walk to town. B&B was quiet very relaxing.
Review 49:Nothing bad to say at all!!
Review 50:This was the best place that I have ever been to. Great staff, the room was gorgeous, amazing location. All good things to say and I would recommend it to anyone!!
Review 51:As a morning tea drinker, I was unable to have a hot cup of tea, as there was no freshly boiled water provided for tea drinkers. That was my only disappointment. One young staff person, suggested I use the hot water out of the faucet tap! That is NOT how to make a proper cup of tea !
Review 52:*The ample parking *VERY,VERY CLEAN GUEST ROOMS AND COMMON ROOMS!!!!! *Friendly staff *We LOVED the front hall and all the aspects of the home from "back in the day"! *Beautiful porch and yard.
Review 53:We booked in early June for a Labor Day weekend. Last room available was on the third floor, a attic room, @ 5'10" I banged my head on the doorway once or twice.
Review 54:Relaxed atmosphere, friendly, close proximity to wharf area, mansions, cliff walk and beaches
Review 55:Charming mansion from the 1800's that has been very well kept and beautifully decorated. Staff was great, breakfast was delicious, Rooms/Beds were very comfortable and the location is perfect if you're looking to be right next to Bellevue Avenue and far enough away from the strip but still within walking distance.
Review 56:A little bit further from shops/restaurants than I thought. About a 20 minute walk on some not so well lit roads.
Review 57:Great breakfast. Typical b&b. Quaint and cozy. Good value. Very friendly staff.
Review 58:Our room was OK but the bathroom was small with a tiny pedestal sink. There was no place to put toiletries or anything else. Moreso a group of 6 women guests were celebrating a reunion of some kind and brought their cell phones to the breakfast table where they loudly exchanged texts, held up photos and other incoming messages throughout the meal. No one else could have conversation or enjoy the beautifully prepared breakfast until they left the dining room. Some of the rudest behavior I have ever seen .
Review 59:Excellent location…right across the street from the Elms. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. The breakfasts were were wonderful and the wrap around porch was a lovely place to relax.
Review 60:Would have liked counter space in the bathroom.
Review 61:Top dollar price, but absolutely beautiful lodge. The surroundings were very elegant and we loved it. The staff was accomodating which was to be expected, but in this world of poor service, these owners delivered.
