Reviews for Ashland Hills Hotel & Suites
Review 1:A company came out to flush the fire hydrants which caused some issues. The fire alarm went off long enough we had to evacuate. Then it continued to sound off over the next 2 hours while they tried to reset the system (never got an apology) This also cause the water to become dirty for the rest of my stay. Had to use bottled was and didn't feel bathing was okay.
Review 2:Nice area and the hotel itself was nice, a little dated but I believe they are upgrading things
Review 3:The room was very clean with updated furnishings. The staff was welcoming and professional with a smooth check in. We travel frequently from the SF Bay Area and Seattle and stop for the night in southern Oregon. We will definitely stay here again on a future trip.
Review 4:the service was wonderful. they moved us to a suite as it is off season...very nice! we also enjoyed the free wifi & breakfast with newspapers. couldn't ask for more. also close to the downtown area...a few mins. drive!
Review 5:The vending machine on both floors was out of water :(
Review 6:The bed was comfortable, staff was friendly, breakfast was delicious and the separation between the bedroom and living room was great! First place that I've stay at that provided Q-tips :)
Review 7:The suite was laid out well. It was spacious, comfortable, clean, and quiet. It was more like a small apartment than a hotel room. Our suite quickly became a home away from home.
Review 8:The sheets had marks on them that made me think they weren't washed. The coffee wasn't too great ether.
Review 9:I liked the staff and the decor of the hotel. I liked that breakfast was included.
Review 10:It would be nice if a Restaurant and/or lounge were on the property. However, the options close by are very good.
Review 11:The staff was amazing and made my first Christmas as a single Mom with adult children very nice! We all had a great time.
Review 12:I was very pleasantly surprised by how cozy and inviting our room was. Plenty of room, good seating (nice chairs), etc. We had a King room, and our boys stayed in a Queen/two beds. Their room was a bit less "cozy" because it was larger. The beds in both were very comfortable, with crisp white sheets and wonderful comforters. The reading lamps above each side of the bed were perfect - nice looking, bright, convenient. The rooms were spotless, including the bathrooms. Nice shower heads have been installed as well. This was probably the best value I have come across in a long time. P.S. We had to drop our fourth night - called Booking.com - they were so easy to deal with. No questions, everything as they said it would be. I will use them from now on.
Review 13:The bed sheets
Review 14:Ashland hills hotel was great, it was an oasis after a 12hour drive. The sheets were personally a little uncomfortable for me but that is just my opinion overall everything was great and the room for the price was surely a blessing.
Review 15:The continental breakfast was okay. Did not like the separate location of coffee/hot h2o station. The breakfast could use a little pizazz. Fruit looked old. It might help to bring someone in to help with selections and staging.
Review 16:The suite was a pleasant surprise and very reasonable. The main lobby and dining area are amazing. Nice job of interior design! Restful, yet so much to admire and enjoy! Loved the records theme!
Review 17:Nothing bad at all. I do wish, however, that they had included tea as well as coffee in the nice little in-room basket.
Review 18:Simply can't beat the value for price. While not a "luxury" hotel, it is definitely a step above the ordinary. We stayed in one of their suites, which is a complete 1-bedroom suite with sitting area, tiny kitchenette, etc. Everything was perfect. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I have a tough grading system and this is more of a 4-star facility than a 5-star. I would definitely stay there again!
Review 19:I loved the suite! It was like a little getaway in a beautiful small town. The breakfast was excellent with many choices. The room offered two televisions and a nice shower with two sinks.
Review 20:Room was dull and oddly shaped. Cool senaibility from the lobby didn't carry through.
Review 21:Welcome was very warm. Lobby is awesome. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 22:I love, love, love this hotel! It was peaceful, clean, and lovely. My room had a beautiful view. For me, the location was perfect. I love the amenities in the suites, too!
Review 23:The check in was easy and staff was pleasant and helpful, even providing a wine opener and glasses instantly upon request, and cookies when we returned from dinner.
Review 24:The staff here is impeccable, the attention to detail is impeccable, and the quality of this hotel is impeccable! It was unfortunate we only had one night here - this is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Slipping into bed in your room will feel like you are sleeping in a cloud! This is resort living at it's best, and they really do know how to make your stay here enjoyable. Beautifully appointed rooms, maximum cleanliness, and high class service is what you will find.
Review 25:Nothing we didn't like. Didn't have the breakfast - left too early.
Review 26:Very clean, quiet and the beds are really comfortable. Too bad we were just staying overnight on the way back to Portland from LA. A new discovery for us and we'll be back again. (I'm pretty picky about quiet and clean!)
Review 27:Friendly staff- Robert in front desk was a great customer service person- great attitude and helpful. I suggest that if you want to check in- time it during his shift.
Review 28:It is the best hotel we have stayed in for many years. Check in-quick and easy. Left a note with our online reservation that we needed a pet friendly room and they had one ready. The cleanest, nicest pet friendly room we've had. Great breakfast included warm, hard boiled eggs.
Review 29:My room was opposite the hotels laundry room.----could have been better, but not the end of the world.
Review 30:Concern by employees for our complete satisfaction.
Review 31:I enjoyed the healthy breakfast but by husband was disappointed that they did not have any meat or pastries. Although, he did enjoy the do-it-yourself pancakes.
Review 32:My husband likes to watch t/v long after I have gone to bed. Being able to close off the bedroom was nice.
Review 33:The friendly staff at the desk was helpful and guided us to good restaurant for a simple dinner meal just across the road. A wonderful surprise was that we were put in a 2 queen-bed suite in a quiet area towards the back of the hotel for the same price as a regular room. The free breakfast was great and seating ample in a nice setting. Everything about the hotel and our stay there was better than we expected.
Review 34:There are no microvaves in the regular rooms, though I did notice them in the suites. No major hinderance, but to note.
Review 35:Rooms were very comfortable with awesome decor.
Review 36:Entire hotel was out of water bottles in their vending machines - all of them. At 10:45 PM, about an hour after I had arrived and discovered this, the front desk told me I could walk across the street to a gas station for cheaper water or pay $3 for a bottle of Smart Water from their business center.
Review 37:Very clean. Just of the freeway and 3 miles to downtown. Staff was friendly.
Review 38:Not a bad experience, but we thought adding scrambled eggs (warm) to the breakfast would have been nice. Also, perhaps more fresh fruit.
Review 39:We loved our room! After traveling for about 3 weeks, this was our last stop on our way home. This was the nicest room we had on our entire trip (7 states). We especially enjoyed having a room that was more like a suite, where there was a television in both the bedroom and the sitting area. Also, having a bathroom and a separate vanity was especially nice. We plan to come back and spend 2-4 days here again.
Review 40:That we didn't stay longer!
Review 41:Super cozy, very comfy beds and very lovely interior design! We definitely enjoyed our stay, wish we could have stayed longer!
Review 42:We didn't have a bad experience our room was just hard to get to and the door closest to the room which was supposed to respond to the key card, did not. It was a very small glitch in an otherwise comfortable stay and I would stay there again.
Review 43:I liked the lodge feel. The property was bigger than I expected. Our room was on the ground floor but it was very quiet.
Review 44:The facility was beautifully appointed, my suite comfortable and spotless, and the staff very accommodating. The grounds were lovely, with Oregon's signature roses blooming everywhere. Although the Ashland Hills did not provide a shuttle, there was a local shuttle (reasonably priced and dependable) which was available for rides to and from Medford Airport. I should add that breakfast was very good and served in a spacious dining area. I'd return in a heartbeat.
Review 45:my booking.com reservations were not found; after a difficult day this was frustrating and discouraging but the hotel helped us out despite a glitch somewhere.
Review 46:The staff was super accommodating; the suite was amazing
Review 47:It is very comfortable, clean and quiet. The bed is especially comfortable, with nice linens. The grounds are well maintained and depending on the room location, there is a beautiful view of the nearby hills. I stay here every time I travel to California.
Review 48:Complimentary Breakfast buffet could have been better. Scrambled eggs, potatoes and bacon would have been nice additions.
Review 49:Clean and stylish rooms. Comfortable bed.
Review 50:Only thing I wish for was more towel hooks in our room which was a handicapped room. There were none near the shower itself.
Review 51:Staff was very polite and helpful. Rooms were very clean and grounds were well kept.
Review 52:The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the room we had was large and comfortable. I appreciated the coffee service; no styrofoam cups. Needs a restaurant.
Review 53:I got a very good price for a single stay. The suite room 377 was awesome: big, roomy, comfortable, quiet, easy to locate and reach with luggage. I will definitely stay again and request a suite room.
Review 54:Beautiful views! The room was very clean! The staff was welcoming and friendly! The breakfast was great! I can't believe we got this hotel at the rate we did! It far surpassed our expectation! And the breakfast was great too! The coffee was wonderful!
Review 55:This place was amazing! -Excellent staff -Excellent suites! -Excellent Breakfast -Huge Facilities with amazing views on the back side!!! -Excellent free wifi speed!!! -I am a serious traveler and this is THE type of place that everyone wishes they could experience!!! -Absolutely perfect amazing experince -The bed was incredible! -The bathroom was flawless -The kitchen was excellent -Suites even had a little balcony to view the sunrise over the foothills. -Size of suite was surprizing! -Breakfast was a full continental plus some!!! -Everything in all of the buildings was emaculate both in cleanliness and decoration! -This place is perfect! -I have made this a stop for future vacations!
Review 56:It is a distance from the City Center but it is manageable. Breakfast offering were OK but somewhat limited food options although the breakfast room was quite large and comfortable.
Review 57:Enjoyed the large room with a deck that looked over the courtyard and pool. Room (and the facility) were clean and well maintained with updated features. WiFi was excellent.
Review 58:Breakfast wasn't great but adequate. A bit of a drive to the theaters.
Review 59:Quiet, comfortable suite. Slept really well. 3 sinks made it easy to share bathroom.
Review 60:The reception desk personnel were welcoming and efficient. The room was huge! and clean. The inner courtyard w/outdoor pool was lovely. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options.
Review 61:It's not within walking distance of downtown, but the trade-off on cost/comfort is well worth being a few minutes away from downtown Ashland.
Review 62:Very nice hotel with spacious rooms and nice facilities (pool, complimentary breakfast, etc)
Review 63:What didn't I like! A lovely hotel with excellent, friendly staff in a gorgeous setting, I would recommend Ashland Hills Hotel to anyone visiting the area. Oh... and the coffee was great too.
Review 64:The coffee could be hotter. No regular coffee in room and no microwave.
Review 65:The room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. Cookies offered in the evening.
Review 66:I loved the funky ambiance of the lobby. It's definitely got a 1970's vibe to it, and they ran with it! We stayed in the champagne suit for our honeymoon, and it was amazing. I saw a peek of the other rooms, and while they weren't as out of this world, they seemed nice and clean. The front desk staff was very helpful in finding us a place to eat as well!
Review 67:Screen sliding door would have been nice so you can let fresh air into bedroom.
Review 68:Great location. Very helpful staff . Cleanliness and very well kept grounds. Planning to stay there again when visiting son at school.
Review 69:We were in the Suites facing the east and tennis courts and during the night noticed a high pitched whine from some kind of mechanical system. Would be nice to have that eliminated.
Review 70:Really enjoyed the updating effort! Very Mad Men and fits well with the existing architecture. Pool and spa were beautiful with the surroundings and new lounges.
Review 71:No tissues in the entire room. Though there was a coffee pot, coffee, and cups in the room, there was no sugar, coffee stirrers, or cream.
Review 72:Great value for the money. Though it's close to the freeway, we never heard any traffic noise. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Complete self-serve breakfast was included.
Review 73:Tried to check into a perfectly empty hotel at 2:15 pm, was told therewere no rooms clean.................35 Minutes later I was notified aroom was ready..........and returned to find the same very emptyhotel.........like no cars in sight empty. I was tired from a long dayof traveling , they were not accommodating to my needs. Also, when theyremodeled the hotel, they should have used a bulldozer and started over.I've seen some odd bath/shower arrangements in hotels before, not sure what they are going for with the one they are using. If theydidn't want me to stand in the shower, you think they would havetaken out the wooden platform thingy.
Review 74:Checking out
Review 75:the view from our room. But every room can not have one of course. Still enjoyed our stay
Review 76:Pleasant staff. Lovely room that was very clean . Healthy fresh breakfast, an unusual amenity when breakfasts are an inclusion. Loved it.
Review 77:We found multiple pills, a sharp metal object the size of a medium sized button that had a corkscrew wire jutting out from under it and old peanuts around the perimeter of the bed, and dirt/debris/dust bunnies under the bed. Having an 18mo old who gets into everything I am glad I checked before letting her find the items first. The items were in plain sight, right next to the bed/front of nightstand table. All items would have been extremely dangerous to my daughter and may have been fatal.
Review 78:It was roomy and nicely furnished.
Review 79:The staff were friendly and very helpful. The facilities were clean and orderly, not just the rooms but the entire property. The beds were comfortable and I really like the patio that overlooked the grounds. It was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was good and I enjoyed it even though I prefer more than just a continental breakfast.
Review 80:There were working on another floor and the noise and sawdust was uncomfortable. The keys didn't work and we had to return to the desk to get another set. Seemed disorganized.
Review 81:The room was very spacious and comfortable. The decor was campy - very 50's but nice
Review 82:There were more golfers, or people who looked like golfers, staying at the hotel than I would prefer. :)
Review 83:Our suite was spacious, comfortable, and very quiet. We didn't interact with the staff much, but they were quite friendly and professional when we did. Nice views of the surrounding hills.
Review 84:Pillows were uncomfortable. Staff couldn't link two reservationsand called threatening to kick us out, then called to say we needed toget new keys. Pretty rookie - needs training. (Linking reservations isbasic stuff)
Review 85:Quiet, Easy to get to, near where we wanted to be.
Review 86:Everything! The room was very comfortable and there was a very quiet patio facing a garden area that was very lovely. The staff were very accommodating (we had a problem with a young child crying in the room next to ours) they upgraded us to a room a few doors down. The continental breakfast was very extensive and the dining area was inviting, bright, airy.
Review 87:Breakfast was mediocre. Ran out of items early. Not walking distance from town. No shuttle.
Review 88:Staff was very nice and helpful. Nice newly remodeled room. Comfortable and clean. Cookie at check in. Breakfast area was a large and beautiful loft area.
Review 89:Housekeepers were outside the room in the mornings (around 8:30-9am) yelling back and forth to each other. Woke me up. They were speaking in Spanish but I understood enough to know they were complaining about guests who may or may not have checked out yet (couldn't quite tell) Very rude. The rest of the staff were amazing though. Breakfast was not good. Too many people trying to maneuver in an odd shaped space and layout. It's a large motel so they have to improve that. Also not much seating. Not many options and the only good thing was waffles which I never got because there were too many people lining up for the two machines. Maybe extending the breakfast past 9:30 would help with the last minute rush. We are on holidays and don't want to be rushing to get food.
Review 90:Clean and modern. Balcony overlooking the pool was nice. Good tv, wifi and bathroom. Location was fine as I had a car. Had a fridge and desk and a table with chairs.
Review 91:The jacuzzi was lukewarm and only 2 jets were going but not really working properly. That was very disappointing for such a nice place. Ice machine so far away.
Review 92:Great location and beautiful place. The breakfast was very good. Had extras.
Review 93:No pay per view movies very disappointing, breakfast close at 9am ridiculous for vacationers, had to change room cuz moo sofa bed for 3rd adult, roll away bed horrible
Review 94:Suite, grounds lobby, convenience
Review 95:This wouldn't be a negative for most people, but I have difficulty walking, and I found the room slightly too large. The distance from bed to the bathroom was farther than most hotels I have stayed at.
Review 96:The room was very nicely appointed; quite luxurious. Two sinks, one inside and another outside the bathroom; a small patio facing the courtyard; tasteful art on the walls. The bedding was very comfortable. And I really appreciated the superior quality of the breakfast. The hotel building itself is also attractive inside and out.
Review 97:What a great place! We loved the room, the bed, the pool, and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast in the morning was great and we will most certainly be staying here again and recommending it to other people traveling through the area!
Review 98:Was looking forward to swimming after a long hot day, but the pool was quite cool. I didn't realize that to get a microwave and a coffee maker I would need to get a suite- they don't come in standard rooms. Those amenities are so standard now, I didn't even think to check. Because of that, we won't be returning to this property.
Review 99:Large, comfortable room Nice view from balcony
Review 100:I got in after dark... BIG challenge!! This is more like a campus than a "hotel", and the buildings aren't numbered. I drove around for 10 minutes looking for my room. After a long travel day, that was awful! The coffee is terrible! Being in this region, come on!! Breakfast ended too early... I missed it. :(
Review 101:The suites are lovely, and the layout/design is perfect. Most importantly, the bedding is divine.
Review 102:Nothing.
Review 103:Large room with comfortable bed. Also, we'll designed bathroom with a second sink outside of main bath area. Enjoyed patio which looked out to the courtyard.
Review 104:Mix-up on room reservation. We should have had a pull-out sofa in our suite (2 queens). When I called the front desk to ask why the sofa wasn't a pull-out, I was asked "did you request it?" I didn't think I needed to request it when that was the description of the room that I booked.
Review 105:Upscale room decor. Breakfast was good.
Review 106:Air conditioner was very loud. Even a soudn sleeper like my husband could not sleep with the air conditioning on. But unfortunately I as a light sleeper could not sleep with the he windows opened, as the room faced the highway. So if you are a light sleeper, make sure you get a room that faces the interior.
Review 107:Beautiful building and nice amenities.
Review 108:NOTHING!!
Review 109:Unbeatable value for how wonderful the facility is! Big room, super clean, wonderfully comfortable bed/pillows, beautiful landscaped property and great Mid-century modern design throughout. This was the nicest continental breakfast I've had in a very long time, fresh fruit, yogurt and cooked oatmeal. I would have expected this level of comfort and quality to cost at least double what I paid.
Review 110:Loved the mid-century modern style and the suites were pretty nice. Was really impressed with the staff at check-in. Front desk (Sonya) was so helpful with info on the hotel. She also was great with helping us with dinner plans. The phone call right after check in to make sure everything was ok was a nice touch.
Review 111:The mattresses were much softer than average. That probably delights some guests but for us, they were way too soft. We slept well in spite of that, so it was a minor annoyance.
Review 112:Front desk staff are sincerely pleasant and helpful.
Review 113:Airco loud
Review 114:Everything looked fresh, having plain yogurt is WONDERFUL having coffee set up away from food at breakfast is great strategy pleasant people all around
Review 115:Would have liked to be closer to Lithia Park, etc., but drive there was fairly short and freeway location has advantages as well.
Review 116:Short stay, everything was clean, place and staff had friendly, competent feeling.
Review 117:Good location, helpful staff, liked how they'd brightened the modern hotel and made it cheery and welcoming but hadn't priced it ridiculously like similar properties in my area.
Review 118:Horrible map of property and we couldn't find our room. We were traipsing back and forth, through the pool and lobby and parking lot, lugging our heavy bags, trying to figure out how to find our room.
Review 119:Internet kept kicking us off. Breakfast was ok.
Review 120:. Rooms were my all time favorite spacious, clean, and so comfy. Grounds are wonderful with garden area and pool. Would definitely book this hotel again
Review 121:Love the retro update! You could tell it was an older hotel with some great new renovations. Room was spacious and clean and a great deal. Only a short drive to downtown.
Review 122:The breakfast was ok. We were happy there was plain yogurt.
Review 123:We liked the garden, the view out of the windows of the Ashland hills and the privacy that the suite offered. The convivial ambience in the breakfast room was pleasant.
