Reviews for Hotel Continental
Review 1:I would have preferred a better TV as at first I found it difficult to work - it was explained to me that it was one of the older ones - they are currently updating and replacing all TVs
Review 2:The hotel is well situated - literally 100 yards across from the exit of the Flytoget subway from the airport. Its location enabled us to visit the many sites in Oslo by bus, tram and metro. Excellent Wi-Fi and staff extremely helpful and pleasant.
Review 3:The location is excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated and the breakfast is great.
Review 4:Nothing was bad. Not cheap...but Oslo Bathrooms small but functional.
Review 5:Ideal location. Charming hotel. Professional staff. Art in the lobby and in the room
Review 6:Been staying for circa 35 years, since I began managing the Norwegian group a-ha. Hotel is very clean and friendly. Fab staff, wonderful food and restaurants. Good fun, homely feel.
Review 7:The only room service they offer late night are sandwiches, which are not at all tasty.
Review 8:Amazing location. Can't get better than this. Very spacious rooms and extremely helpful staff. Had an amazing time.
Review 9:Ask for a room as far away from the nightclub as possible (across the street from one side of the hotel). We had to move rooms as the noise was unbearable on the first night but once moved it was fine.
Review 10:Everything about this hotel screamed luxury - definitely eat at one of the restaurants if you get the change too. The staff we very attentive and genuinely seemed to want to help.
Review 11:You can't fault this hotel. The staff are efficient and helpful. The rooms are clean and well equipped and the breakfasts are super fresh with plenty of healthy options. There was some noise from the street below but that can be expected from a city centre location. The rooms facing the courtyard may offer a solution.
Review 12:Beautiful rooms, everything you need for your stay was in the rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and super convenient location in town especially to public transport!
Review 13:The location was excellent. The airport train, Flytoget, stops at the National Theatre station, which is just five minutes walk away from the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with very comfortable beds. Enjoyed the wide selection available at breakfast too.
Review 14:Gym small and no pool but minor detail
Review 15:Well situated and staff excellent. Very accomodating and helpful. Nothing too much trouble and requests dealt with very quickly
Review 16:Too bad there is no pool :-) Breakfast: maybe a few more options when it comes to cereal
Review 17:Great spacious room, huge walkin closet, no problem to have the extra bed in the room. Childfriendly and helpful staff.
Review 18:Breafast pretty good more of a variety would be nice full size toiletries would be nice
Review 19:Room & bed spectacular! staff excellent! Hotel nicely done cozy, hospitable. Head bell Cpt even helped me to the train in the pouring rain. Helped with my ticket helped w/ luggage on the train. Vicki a server in am was sweet great service. Id write more but im on my phone. Great place its a huge yes. Youlllove this place
Review 20:Our room had a mysterious odor for the length of our stay that neither we nor the staff could alleviate. Our room was in a part of the hotel with no air conditioning. This would normally not be a problem, but with the unusually warm weather during our stay, we got pretty uncomfortable at times. The air system for our wing simply circulated the air in the building -- no conditioning. The street noise until wee hours kept us from getting relief by opening the windows. After 2 nights, the staff offered to move us to another room, but we decided to "tough it out" for another night since we were leaving early the next morning. This was not at all the fault of the staff. Just noted to alert others to enquire about the availability of air conditioning if they plan to visit during the peak summer months.
Review 21:The front desk staff was among the most courteous and helpful that I have ever encountered. They helped book all sorts of sightseeing, dining and transportation activities without any issues. They also helped us deal with some trying issues with our room location. The property has an excellent location right next to trams and the metro, as well as central city sights. The property is well appointed, and the rooms are comfortable, but small. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and available for most of the morning.
Review 22:Terrible concierge Service. "Forgot" to inform about change in restaurant reservation. Result we had flown in from abroad for a dinner meeting and had no table reservation at 20.30!
Review 23:The gym was very small & my room was slightly noisy because it waslocated beside the gym and the opening and closing of gym door wasdisturbing and so was the noise from the street
Review 24:Stuff we're very helpful and always reached out
Review 25:The Pride Parade tied up traffic for several hours so we walked back from the Opera House.
Review 26:Very convenient to Karl Johans Gate, City Hall, Metro, and several other places all within an easy walk.
Review 27:Rooms are underwhelming. Not worth the price. Websites make you believe this is a smaller boutique-style hotel but this is a huge impersonal property. Rooms exceptionally small. View from room was disappointing.
Review 28:Location is superb.
Review 29:I've traveled around the world and I have stayed at many hotels, and I must say this has been my favorite to date.I loved this hotel! I truly can't say enough wonderful things.Bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Very, very clean. Food was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel. My stay was awesome.
Review 30:We felt great about our experience! We had our grandson with us all 4 nights and he really liked the Continental as well. The accommodations were lovely and staff delightful. Excellent location!
Review 31:We had some issues arise with our travel plans and the staff could not have been more helpful. Thanks to the help of the hotel staff our daughter was able to meet us in Balestrand after a flight delay from the states. This hotel is excellent in every way.
Review 32:Staff with initiatives who give you not only what you ask for but what is also suitable. Great location with amazing balcony views. Kids friends and accommodating. Souvonir shops, supermarkets, coffee houses, utilities are close by. Concierge is very helpful.
Review 33:Have to clear and store away all personal belongings in the room to avoid housekeeping staff taking them away during cleaning.
Review 34:Excellent location right by the tram and train stations, and close to the City Hall and Royal Palace. We were impressed by the wide variety of choice at breakfast to sample fresh local Norwegian food.
Review 35:The hotel is at a great location Friendly and welcoming atmosphere The rooms are Fresh and chic Great internet services The hotel was very accommodating towards our needs specially with two little ones
Review 36:Felt very welcome and comfortable. Great and helpful staff. Clean and classy hotel. Nice elegant rooms. Nice breakfast. Close to everything you want to see.
Review 37:Air condition blew straight into the bed, I asked them to slow it down but nothing was done. So I had to wear scarf around my neck in bed.
Review 38:The room was excellent, bed and pillow comfortable, everything was celan, breakfast had good variety of foods. The room faced the yard and was very quiet.
Review 39:As part of the Leading Hotels of the World you can expect a perfect bed, breakfast, lobby etc. And they were perfect. Wat made us really happy is the perfect location near the water front, shops, cathedral.
Review 40:Picked the wrong time to go to Oslo - nothing on - as end of one season and other not quite started! Had to spend one night in another hotel for technical reasons. Other hotel good - but not as good! Stay not long enough - make sure you book the right time to go to Oslo.
Review 41:Location is brilliant. Hotel is elegant.
Review 42:No complaints. Everything was very good.
Review 43:Staff went beyond call of duty to locate lost bag left by daughter on train. Followed it up after we left and located it for us. One very happy girl.
Review 44:The shower could have been better, f.eks. rain shower head. Not much to complain about - everthing very nice.
Review 45:Great bed, linen and spotless room. I especially appreciated the small terrace for fresh air. Wonderful ambience in the lobbey and lounge. It felt like an oasis, a place to relax in the urban jungle.
Review 46:Gym leaves a little to be desired. Website doesn't do them justice
Review 47:Great position, elegant interior, friendly and helpful staff, classy barand restaurant
Review 48:The pillows the worst pillows ever. I have to remove the cushions by my self everyday.
Review 49:They offer leading hotel card for free which worth (150$). The views was good. The size of single room was perfect.
Review 50:The exercise studio is very small with limited facilities
Review 51:Everything. Great location, elegant hotel with friendly helpful staff. Honestly, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in - worth a deluxe rate.
Review 52:comfortable bed; lovely interior design; helpful staff; easy to use wifi; corkscrew in room; good sized room for a single; plenty towels and facecloths; great breakfast in lovely trad scandi style room
Review 53:Beds were too soft and no good solution available. Breakfast quite basic compared to many other Norwegin hotels and trays left empty for upto minutes, The service at breakfast was very slow even though it was not very busy.
Review 54:Fantastic location
Review 55:Internet reception was not very good when you go around the room.
Review 56:The comfort of the bed and the convenience of the location (walking distance to everywhere). View from balcony was fantastic by facing the national theatre. just lacking a coffee table and two seats on the balcony. Staff were nice.
Review 57:The wifi was down all day on Saturday. At break fast we order fried eggs and took more than 30min to get them on both days.
Review 58:Very nice refurbished room. We asked for late check out and they gave us until 2:00pm, with out any problem. Amazing dinner at the Theatre Cafe.
Review 59:Could not fault it.
Review 60:Location was excellent. About 10 mins walk from train station and 5 mins from harbour. Main sights all within walking distance. Hotel was amazing, we were upgraded to junior suit with balcony overlooking main square. Beds really comfy and no issues with wifi as it automatically logged you in for the duration of your trip. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of choice.
Review 61:Perfect location near all the sights and nice restaurants. Across the road for express train station to airport which was definitely an advantage. Great choice for breakfast and lovely bar area.
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:Best location possible. Train from airport to town center. Short walk to hotel. Trams and buses all close by. Feels like a brand new hotel. Everything is kept clean and polished. Had bkfst on Saturday. On the busy side but staff most efficient getting all we wanted. Off season price was reasonable.
Review 64:Reception and breakfast space getting bit outdated, breakfast ok but not great.
Review 65:Central location, renovated deluxe room rally Nice, staff, quiet even in front, Theatercafé perfect start.
Review 66:Marvellous location, close to Train station Nationaltheateret and bus/tram outside. Two of Oslo's best restaurant in the building. Newly refurbished rooms, delicate interiour and very good bed.
Review 67:Breakfast staff could be a bit nicer and friendlier.
Review 68:The whole staff were the nicest and most helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and this hotel is one of my favorite.
Review 69:busy hotel with a lot of non resident visitors with apparently no preference for residents in bars and restaurants
Review 70:excellent location, generally helpful staff
Review 71:Week in breakfast, Absence of room complementary items such as coffee, tea, biscuit, water bottle, comb, tooth paste, tooth brush, etc.
Review 72:Comfort of bed, Cleanliness, Location
Review 73:Some noise from close by street until late in the morning. The selection of different variations of foods in the breakfast buffet was not on the same standard you colud expect from a five star hotel in Scandinavia (many hotels in Norway with four stars has better breakfast), the service was spotless.
Review 74:Good service, clean room, one of the best hotel beds I have slept in, 5 min walk from the Flytoget (airport express train) close to Stortinget (parliament)… the hotel accommodations includes famous (and legendary in Norway) Teatercaféen. Room renovated summer 2014.
Review 75:Was very pleased to arrive at the hotel and find that my room was ready and special request attended to. Loved the room and the bed was extra comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and staff attentive and friendly.Looking forward to return
Review 76:We should have looked at the menu of the Theatrecafen before we booked our table. We struggled to find something we really wanted to eat (and it is expensive). It is a shame as it is a wonderful setting but the menu is quite limited.
Review 77:Room was very comfortable - excellent bedding and bathroom. Also was very quiet - no noise at all from corridor or outside. Breakfast was in a charming room with plenty of choice - one of the best we have had anywhere.
Review 78:My stay was amazing I liked the food and sitting on loung area and the best was friendly helpful staff , the room was so clean and the upgrade me to suit it was amazing.
Review 79:night noise bcz of night club being next door, if you open the window u will never sleep.
Review 80:great people, great food, great location, everything is near and the breakfast is amazing. I won't stay anywhere else. lovely
Review 81:The cost of wine in Norway !!
Review 82:Room excellent Staff first class Food very good Wonderful ambience to the hotel with a bustling lobby bar. Well used by the locals always a good sign.
Review 83:No clothes drawers. The luxurious doona was too warm for a heated room. No scales in the otherwise well-equipped Fitness Room.
Review 84:Comfortable, warm & clean room. Superb breakfast, no musak. Central location. Atmospheric Teateren Cafe. Good staff.
Review 85:View from our room was into an internal roofing area, which wasn't great, but it was a lovely room otherwise.
Review 86:Staff were extremely polite and helpful, and we even got an upgrade which was a fantastic surprise. Excellent location in the middle of Oslo.
Review 87:Wi-Fi was a bit slow. They have just established a second elevator which will allow the clients to avoid waiting for quite a few minutes to get to their floor.
Review 88:excellent staff, very clean room though a bit small, all amenities there, convenient location just across the train station, 10-minute walk from the harbor, very good breakfast
Review 89:At that time, due to lift renovation, only three room floors were available. we needed to walk one floor down by staircases.
Review 90:From the airport, direct access with oslo airport express train. Stop at national theater. In room Free Wi-Fi . Large bathroom. Good breakfast.
Review 91:On checking in we were assigned a beautiful room with an appalling bathroom, totally inappropriate for a 5 stars hotel. I complained and they changed us, no questions asked.
Review 92:Brand new beautiful room and bathroom, spotlessly clean. Great location, fabulous brakfast.
Review 93:Nothing. It is not a cheap but the price is aligned with the quality and service provided.
Review 94:The hotel is very beautiful and well located. The rooms are amazing, modern and quiet. The staff is very professional and you get what you need without any difficult. The hotel is also located in a nice place where you can easily visit the city .
Review 95:Our room was simply wonderful. Service was exceptional Location perfect (I knew that ahead of time though, because I worked very close by many years ago).
Review 96:No extractor fan in bathroom, so a bit stuffy. Air con a bit noisy. I guess it's limited by the previous ventilation system installed, which they can not change even after remodeling. But all these can be easily overlooked given other superb qualities of the hotel.
Review 97:Part of the leading hotels of the world. Charged only less than USD250 a night. May be special promotion. Rooms spacious, newly renovated. Very courteous and helpful staff. Easy access to bus and trains.
Review 98:As above. Friend in newly refurbished room had extremely soft mattress. Difficult to sleep due to heat and ventilation issues as outlined above.
Review 99:Lovely staff. Excellent location. great breakfast. Room good but unseasonably hot weather caused me problems. No aircon and inflexible bedding options.
Review 100:If they had Wi Fi in the room excellent. And theater cafe restaurants food quantity is too expensive and the quantity is very small. That's all what I saw
Review 101:Excellent friendly staff. Convenient location. Breakfast is fantastic. I love this hotel. If I go to Oslo I will book this hotel again.
Review 102:It was warm in Norway and the A/C in our room was not good. We asked to be moved to one of the rennovated rooms but they said no other rooms were available. The hotel did not seem full to us.
Review 103:Location was not far from the waterfront and shopping. The room was a good size although very limited storage for your clothes. The staff was friendly.
Review 104:Room was small. It was too hot and if you leave the windows open, it was very noisy the whole night.
Review 105:Great hotel. Wish our room was as big as others we saw. Great breakfast and everything else.
Review 106:Not much.standard teamaking would be good
Review 107:Location.comfort.staff. Wi fi was fast. We complained about lack of teamaking and were given a kettle and cups- which was fine as we had teabags! We were along way from the renovation area so no trouble with that. Breakfast was very good
Review 108:Shame the Theatercaféen was closed but we should have remembered that most Norwegians go away in July and many businesses close, including a surprising number of restaurants. Obviously not busy enough with tourists?
Review 109:The staff at breakfast were some of the best we have come across in years of being both tourists and conference organisers. The location, very close to tram, ferry, bus and metro, means you can see most things using a simple travel card (from Ruter).
Review 110:Unfortunately the TheaterCaffe was closed for the summer due to renovations. We had read so much about the food and experience so we were quite disappointed.
Review 111:Location was perfect after a long day of travel. Staff was very attentive and gracious. Super comfortable bed and attractive room. Very charming dining room and wonderful breakfast buffet. In terms of quality, it was the best breakfast we had on our trip.
Review 112:The hotel is currently under renovation (no noise) but some of the hallways are smaller and narrow with the works. The hotel is still very clean and rooms are confortable. I suspect the price will increase when all the lovely renovations are finished so get in while the price is this good!
Review 113:Great rooms and lovely breakfast. Good location in town
Review 114:Hard to find fault, excellent in every respect. We particularly liked the central location. Friendly staff, with non of the snooty attitude often experienced in 5 star hotels.
Review 115:Having a room that I had to use the stairs for access - really a pain and I was not informed about it until the room was assigned. Not a very pleasant experience considering how expensive the room was.
Review 116:Staff was very friendly.
Review 117:Don't book standard rooms (basic category), they are not represented on the booking.com gallery, very tiny with inappropriate value for money
Review 118:Exzellent breakfast, very friendly staff, central location for business and leisure trips
Review 119:There is extensive contruction going on. Certain floors do not have elevator service so you have to walk up and down one floor if your on certain floors. We were on one of those. If you open the windows to get some air it is very noisy and a bit noisy from the construction.
Review 120:The location and breakfast were great.
Review 121:Hotel renovations were ongoing for an August 2014 opening, so anyone staying on the 6th floor had to take the elevator to the 7th floor and walk down one floor. I got confused and lost at first, going down unfamiliar hallways and opening doors I wasn't supposed to open. Especially in the stairwell, there was no way I could access the other floors unless it was the 7th or the ground floor (which btw, got decidedly darker and creepier as I went further down the stairs). I thought going down one floor I would be able to grab the elevator but I was wrong. There are no indication of under construction zones in English, so for your sake, don't go through the gray doors and green hallways! The hotel hallways should be red carpeted with white doors.
Review 122:Staff is professional and friendly, great location, and so thankful for a full bathtub! Breakfast was nice.
Review 123:This was meant to be a treat at the end of a week in citybox- it's no better than a premier inn in the U.K. No tea making facility in room- extortionate room service price 80 NOK to deliver to room, then the price of tea on top. We were next to the gym and woken up by sounds of crashing weights. Unless you want to be in the busy area, or have a desparate need to watch TV (why??) or a bath then citybox is quieter, and 1/3 of the price- we much preferred it.
Review 124:Lovely lovely big soft bed Staff on the whole friendly and welcoming. Good choice at breakfast
Review 125:None
Review 126:Location location and fantastic staff!!
Review 127:Twin bed was two mattress on one base......too small
Review 128:Location fantastic and close to everything.
Review 129:Wonderful location. A quick walk to the waterfront and across from the subway!
