Reviews for The Village Inn

Review 1:Bathroom was not clean espically the showerhead which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Staff was not helpful or friendly.

Review 2:Room was newly renovated and bed was comfortable.

Review 3:Taxi ride.to and from vineyard was expensive due.to zoning issues apapparently. Also the countryside smell of farms was strong.for city folk.

Review 4:Perfect for overnight trips to the wineries. Beautiful spacious rooms and new renovations look great on exterior. Friends stayed in a full suite room so after dinner visiting was convenient.

Review 5:We like the VI because the staff is very friendly, the rooms are always clean, it is located close enough to JMU and the highway but far enough away to be quiet, they have dog friendly rooms and the cost is reasonable.

Review 6:Front desk was also the dining room cashier, so checking in or out at certain times required waiting in line behind diners.

Review 7:Location was good, close enough to I-81 but not right on it, and close enough to Harrisonburg to make it convenient. All rooms are at ground level also, to make for easy access.

Review 8:The check-in person was very helpful and upgraded our room as there was availability. The room was cozy with a nice view off of the back balcony. In general, very good value for our money!

Review 9:Price way too high for the quality of the room. Hotel jacked up prices because it was homecoming weekend at the university.

Review 10:Comfortable room and safe location. Quiet setting and not too far from university. Nice balcony to sit on. Good breakfast buffet on Sat. Morning.

Review 11:The Village Inn was very different then other chain hotels. It was very unique in style and comfort. I will look forward to staying here again o0n my way to North Carolina.

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:All of the staff were great and the room was great. Every room is street level and you park right in front of your door. Loved the breakfast buffet which was plentiful and reasonably priced.

Review 14:Overall we loved the hotel but the bathroom floor was quite dirty. The room seemed clean in general so we are guessing the bathroom floor must have been missed.

Review 15:Loved the balcony! Our dog was thrilled to be able to have some outside time. The staff was incredibly friendly and the hotel was obviously kept up.

Review 16:No clean table in dining room, altho several were empty. Could not get sliding door to enjoy the deck on a nice evening, but did not call for assistance, wasn't important.

Review 17:Nice "mom & pop" motel & dining room. Comfy atmosphere.Delicious dinner.

Review 18:Had no complaints whatsoever!

Review 19:Loved this place, had everything including a lovely balcony and spa bath! Super clean, great bathroom. Had breakfast overlooking part of the shenandoah valley!

Review 20:some rooms right in front of heavy traffic road. noisy. i recommend to ask for a room on the back of the building.

Review 21:nice large room and well equipped. people very nice and professional

Review 22:This Inn was clean and our room was beautifully decorated. I loved the park-like setting of the pool and play ground. This would be a wonderful place for a family to visit.

Review 23:unfortunately it was a very old feeling and smell. One of our rooms wreaked of smoke...the other old mold smell. mildew on showerheads and some sort of hand soap dispenser in shower was also full of mildew and carpets need shampooing! Really needs updating!

Review 24:Location was great to JMU...

Review 25:The room had a bit of a musty smell, but my nose tuned it out after about an hour. The mini fridge was not really cold, even at it's highest setting. The small freezer shelf didn't have accumulated frost, because it just wasn't cold enough. I had planned on recharging my foam freeze bricks for my cooler during my stay, but that was out. Watch for better pricing. It was very reasonable on my trip down South, but a few days later, when I looked to book a room here for my return two weeks in the future, the lowest price for the same accommodations was much higher. Too bad, because the alternative I settled on was a nicer place and I will look to book there first, in the future.

Review 26:Nice place. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Flat screen TV. Restaurant on site is small, but pleasant. Breakfast buffet was a good value, though some items a bit bland.

Review 27:The AC unit was very loud, I was unable to lower the fan speed, it would click on every few minutes. It did keep me cool and awake.

Review 28:Everything was Great! I will be back it is the half way point to my house in SC

Review 29:We did not have a bad experience but I would not eat in the dining room again. We had supper there after we arrived the first night. It was good but not great. (We had the soup and salad bar only.)

Review 30:It's charming and well maintained, with appealing exterior and clean rooms. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay again if ever in the area, and we met others who had stayed previously too.

Review 31:The bed was a little hard, but not too bad. The only thing I didn't like was there were 2 dirty towels out on our deck when we got there.

Review 32:The gentleman that checked us in was very friendly and accommodating. I wanted to switch from a queen to 2 queen beds and he did it very quickly with no problem.

Review 33:This was our 2nd stay and this room was significantly smaller than our first visit. Very cramped. Wifi was terrible.

Review 34:Nice motel without that chain feel. It's a classic old roadside motel that's been nicely renovated. Very comfortable bed. Great breakfast buffet.

Review 35:I can't think of a thing that we did not like.

Review 36:The Village Inn is so quaint. The location is beautiful. The rooms are very nice and clean. We feel that you really get your money's worth. The landscaping is lovely! This was our second time here and we will be back!

Review 37:very clean room & bathroom, friendly staff, onsite restaurant w/decent dinner, good sat am buffet breakfast, quiet pool, great AC - much more than just a spot to sleep. definitely recommended.

Review 38:The wi-fi didn't always work

Review 39:The location was ideal for our family reunion. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The buffets were tasty and reasonably priced

Review 40:The one single flaw was that there was an empty soda can on the deck.

Review 41:This is the most adorable motel I have ever seen. They are safety features on both doors and the bed is super super comfortable. The jetted tub was wonderful, having a refrigerator and microwave was great, and the location it is beautiful. So many little distinctive features made this such a special place to stay. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Oh, and the room had a deck and even though it is not a hotel with a lobby, there is a parking spot in front of each room. The room was extraordinarily clean and it was just a great place to stay. The hotel has a family feel plus it's quirky, quaint, beautiful, and very comfortable. I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed!

Review 42:Incredible maintenance of this 60s style motel has it totally up to date and super comfy. No detail has been overlooked. Fab bed. Great room layout. Couldn't be better, and the price was super reasonable. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Review 43:The bathroom had a moldy smell that was powerful . We had to keep the bathroom door shut so we could sleep, and we showered very quickly. We were in room facing the road, so we heard a lot of traffic. The room decor seemed to be from the 1980s.

Review 44:The property was well-maintained, very neat; the bed was comfortable; the room was large. We didn't make use of the pool or hot tub, nor the restaurant so I can't comment on those parts of the property.

Review 45:The Village Inn literature in the room - in binder form - was wrinkled, water spotted, old and dirty. That is my only criticism and easily fixed.

Review 46:The bed in this room was extremely comfortable. The area was quiet. A/C worked well. The room was super clean!

Review 47:I do wish it was more in the country but that would not stop me from staying there again.

Review 48:I would have never thought of a place like this. It's the old fashion where you pull up to your door but the room was clean and updated. The staff were wonderful and very pleasant to deal with. It has also been with the same family for over 70 years and it's shows because of the way they treat their staff (with kindness). I would definitely go back.

Review 49:I am handicapped. It would have been nice to have something on bathroom floor. Floor was very slippery. Almost took a fall after shower in A,M. Construction blocked our parking space in front of our room. They could not move it because of the holiday. No crews available.

Review 50:Comfortable and quiet. Enjoyable dining room. Staff was very helpful in making our evening very enjoyable. Hot tub and pool area was much fun. Our grandchildren visited us and really enjoyed themselves.

Review 51:It was advertised online there was a bar but the Inn is located in a dry county. Prepare ahead and bring your own.

Review 52:The Inn is in a very nice location in Mennonite country. Very clean, friendly staff! Great value for the price. Definitely will visit again!

Review 53:I had requested a room in the back of the property, but was assigned a room right in front. Quite a lot of highway noise throughout the night, that disturbed our sleep

Review 54:Easy, quick check in and check out - friendly staff.

Review 55:No noticeable difference between this and another road-side motel at half the cost. They'll invite you to breakfast and then charge you for it. I'm underwhelmed with this over-promising, unexceptional motel trying hard to be more.

Review 56:The staff was exceptionally helpful. The cleanliness and comfort of the room was an A+, was delighted with the jacuzzi tub. I slept peacefully and enjoyed my view, I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 57:T.V. was out for the two days we were there. Breakfast buffet was very good. Disapointed with the dinner buffet. Poor selection and what was on the buffet was not good.Made both of us sick....

Review 58:Clean and quiet

Review 59:Slight muggy, mildewy smell upon first entering room

Review 60:I made the reservation at 10pm and arrived @ 11:40pm. I was exhausted, alone, and wanting to get a clean, quiet room for a few hours. The 2 women that greeted me made me feel welcomed and like family. The check in was quick and easy. I made it to my room that had the pleasant aroma of roses. The room was clean and very nicely decorated, albeit older. The towels were also older, but looked and smelled clean. The shower had good water pressure and hot water. The fridge was clean and cold. The bed was comfortable. I slept well. Breakfast was adequate, perhaps not great, especially for the $10 cost. Coffee alone was $2. Would recommend.

Review 61:There is a small patio off the back of the rooms to relax which is nice. Unfortunately, our view was dominated by a huge TV ground antenna right off the corner of our porch.

Review 62:We loved all the amenities in the room. As parents of a new JMU student, this will serve us well as a "base camp" as we explore the area. Everything was very clean and there is plenty of room to spread out.

Review 63:Shower head too low. I'm 6', couldn't raise any higher than hitting my chest.

Review 64:Nice deck view, good value and food in dining room. Free wifi was appreciated, and the facility was very clean

Review 65:Breakfast buffet was awful. Scrambled eggs all dried out, english muffin so hard it hurt, and potatoes so overcooked I could have used them to play checkers. Coffee not bad.

Review 66:Room was clean and quiet, with working fridge and microwave, plus lots of really hot water for showering

Review 67:The bathroom was still dirty had hair in the bath tub still had human fecie in the toilet when I arrived also the pictures on the wall were all turned upside down the mirror on the wall was turned around mirror facing wall I was not happy at all

Review 68:Well the rooms are big and cozy n that's about it

Review 69:Restaurant attached to motel was recommended by motel staff. The food was below average. Staff great.

Review 70:Comfortable, clean, great location, warm and friendly.

Review 71:I just needed a place to get away for a me night. I specifically picked this property for the room decor and the spa tub. The temperature outside was below freezing, and when I got to my room at 6pm, the heat was turned completely off. It took nearly three hours to warm the entire room/bathroom, and the floors were cold all night long. The spa tub looked like it needed a good cleaning, so I opted not to use it. I am used to sleeping in a king size bed, but since I was alone, the queen was alright. I'm not sure that this location has any king rooms.

Review 72:The decor in the room was beautiful, from the wallpaper, to the P. Buckley Moss prints. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows were not great. I asked for a quiet room, and they gave me a room all the way in the back, which was much appreciated. The kitchen is closed on Sunday, but they put out a nice little spread of fruit and pastries. I would visit again, when the weather is warmer.

Review 73:Nothing!

Review 74:We loved the spacious size and cleanliness of this room, the quiet location, coffee and breakfast provided. It is nice to 'shop locally' and give business to a family hotel. We had 3 adults in the room and had plenty of room!

Review 75:The breakfast was very dry and had skinned over in the buffet pans. Biscuits were rocks and crumbled into pebbles. Eggs were fake and rubber from heat lamp buffet. POOR breakfast for just being 1 hour old and still had a couple to go.

Review 76:All staff were very nice.

Review 77:The room was clean and inviting. When we checked in the clerk upgraded us as no one had booked that room and it was late. Made our evening! Everyone was so friendly to us. We ate breakfast at their restaurant and it was a great start to our day.

Review 78:nothing

Review 79:We enjoyed our stay, but wished we could of stayed longer. We were on our way back home and had to be at work the next day. Decor was good, bed was excellent, and the staff was great.

Review 80:internet service was somewhat slow.

Review 81:I liked everything from the room décor and cleanliness to the many amenities they provide. Also thought the all you can eat breakfast and dinner were the best!

Review 82:Everything. I asked for a handicapped bath, and that is what I got. Ask a big chain for a handicap bath and you will get a maybe from headquarters. It it always best when you can interact with the owner, Thanks for a great stay, my fourth. See you next fall

Review 83:The motel is a little bit out of town in a more rural area. This is nice for scenery but there is nowhere right near the motel to eat, and the motel charges for breakfast.

Review 84:This motel is beautiful! The grounds and room were lovely and very clean. There was also a lovely deck overlooking a nice green area.

Review 85:Loved the beautiful grounds and landscaping. Had a great swim in the beautiful outdoor pool. Room was clean, and very tastefully decorated. Enjoyed the jacuzzi bathtub.

Review 86:On their booking website it says airport shuttle, when they do not have one. This was the main reason I did choose that hote. It cost me double the hotel prize to get from and to the SHD airport.

Review 87:Clean rooms Friendly stuff

Review 88:No decaf in room. Front desk shrugged it off as no big deal - "come to restaurant and we will give you a go cup" Only property we stayed in during trip from AZ. to NY. without "breakfast included" My mistake in making reservation.......

Review 89:NONE!

Review 90:They never fail to provide a clean and nicely decorated room with wifi and jet tub etc. Eating at the restaurant on site again always provides a deceit meal for a fair price. My husband chooses to enjoy their buffet breakfast and that never disappoints him.

Review 91:The motel is on a somewhat busy highway. No big deal...just ask for a room away from the road.

Review 92:This place is a gem. We have stayed here 3 times now, and have yet to be disappointed. The rooms are simple, but comfortable and clean. There is a nice, private pool area with a hot tub, shuffleboard, corn hole, a playground, and picnic tables. The restaurant has an excellent breakfast buffet with prompt and friendly service.

Review 93:The food at the restaurant could be better.

Review 94:We have stayed here at least twice a year in our travels from south to north. We wish there was another location such as this that meets our stopping criteria on the way back South. We love to get an afternoon swim, and the peacefulness at this motel. The restaurant plays great background music.

Review 95:Very slow service at breakfast. Only one waitress and no buser. No wifi.

Review 96:Staff friendly, room great size, restaurant on site, cooks stayed late to cook after we arrived at just before closing. Down home feeling.

Review 97:Could not request more pillows

Review 98:Beds are comfortable

Review 99:Internet access awful. Don't advertise wifi if it doesn't work.

Review 100:Restaurant on site.

Review 101:Smelly neighborhood. Uncomfortable beds Noisy room heater.

Review 102:Very clean

Review 103:That we were warned there was renovation going on Fortunately it began as we were on our way out

Review 104:Good value for the money, clean convenient.

Review 105:Construction on exterior of hotel early morning.

Review 106:Updated room was nice.

Review 107:NOTHING

Review 108:HAVE STAYED HERE IN THE PAST AND IS A VERY FRIENDLY HOMEY ATMOSPHERE.

Review 109:The cleanliness of the room.

Review 110:Very noisy due to busy road in close proximity to rooms.

Review 111:Pictures were misleading....much smaller than we expected

Review 112:Location....close to a wedding we were attending.

Review 113:Heating system is too noisy, even at low power.

Review 114:Staff was very nice and helpful when I had a problem with my car.

Review 115:Availability of the restaurant.

Review 116:They state officially that they serve dinner til 8.30 and I arrived 8 .10 to find out they'd closed because of few customers

Review 117:I was told that breakfast was served from 7am to 11am but when I checked out at 9:55 they were taken it apart for lunch !!!

Review 118:Breakfast not included.

Review 119:Very clean and comfortable. Great staff...friendly, and helpful.

Review 120:Had to lift toilet seat to close bathroom door.

Review 121:Nice to have our vehicle close to our door.

Review 122:Nothing

Review 123:Lovely place to stay. Easy access. Clean, comfortable room. Great restaurant with home cooking.

Review 124:Bath tub is too small for velocity of water jets. Causes spills.

Review 125:Very comfortable bed and pillows. Quite.

Review 126:The food at their restaurant is awful- common, fried, over cooked, canned greened beans, not healthy food.

Review 127:Friendly staff, nice deck, large room.

Review 128:friendly staff, good facilities, comfortable bed

Review 129:Great value Very large rooms Great restarunt
