Reviews for Bayview Motel
Review 1:Price per night bout $10-20 more than preferred for this level....but because of staff and facility it was worth it.
Review 2:Great location, great staff, exceptionally clean tight and tidy. Staff/owners take great pride in keeping rooms up to date, relevant and fresh. Located close to many good restaurants, coffee shops and tourist sites.
Review 3:This is an older motel with all rooms having a balcony that looks out at the Bay. There was a central(ducted) heating system, so there was no horribly annoying heater cycling on and off. There was a sitting area with a comfy couch and big bathroom with walk-in shower. There was no microwave in the room, but that's all we had to do was ask and one was delivered to the room! Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 4:Very noisy. If it wasn't for the patio door (the culprit that does not do anything to stop the Hwy 101 noise) it would have been great.
Review 5:Clean and comfortable.
Review 6:AC didn't work, or maybe it never worked because there was a fan in the room. The door deadbolt didn't work. Mattress was one step this side of plywood.
Review 7:Staff was friendly. Room was clean
Review 8:Traffic noise is a problem. The couch at a glance looks comfortable, thanwe sat on it and the padding was like it was someone's hand me down. The bed needs to be replaced, we felt like we were rolling into themiddle and lastly, this is merely a cautionary statement....the jettedtub was great, but there were no safety bars or for that matter anythingto grab onto to save you if you slipped on the tile. The bathroom hadsafety bars as if it were designed for handicap access, there wasnothing near the tub.
Review 9:The room was very roomy, clean. The view was okay, but I later foundthat no other hotel had much or any view, so I got what I asked for (aroom with a view). If I were to return to the area, I might considerstaying again. But it was $$.
Review 10:No microwave in our room (unable to make my hot cereal for breakfast or reheat leftovers for dinner). No lamp near bed. In order to turn off lights, one must get out of bed.
Review 11:Large room. Nice kitchenette-style area with ample counter space, sink and refrigerator. Were very pleased with the "back" door and the nice patio and lawn area.
Review 12:The furnishings are dated. But the clean out-ranks the style any day!
Review 13:Super clean and very well maintained. Lovely family owners. Free wifi. Huge room with balcony.
Review 14:Traffic noise all day and all night! No microwave. Bed was so hard we got up two hours earlier than we scheduled and left.
Review 15:Very clean. Hostess was very pleasant
Review 16:No Air Conditioning; opening windows for natural ventilation allows US 101 traffic noise into room - VERY noisy; not a restful night's sleep
Review 17:Clean room, nice quality linens
Review 18:Unable to sleep because of road noisefrom the 101. Having asked for a quiet room I mentioned this the following morning and was told that the rooms on the ground floors are quieter. The bay view - you could see the water but there was a industrial centre and rubbish depot in front of the water (I realise the hotel cannot do anything about that but it detracted from the overall impression). Overpriced for the position.
Review 19:Pleasant spacious room and staff
Review 20:The staff was friendly and fun. The location is great for the redwood park adventure we were on. The family suite was easy to use and still private for everyone.
Review 21:101 traffic noise was terrible. No microwave. No snack (breakfast) before departing. Homeless encampments across the street. Noticed a smashed window of a traveler's car parked next to mine.
Review 22:Had a great view.
Review 23:It was located right near the highway so there was traffic noise and the view of the water was of industrial places spewing smoke into the air.
Review 24:The room, amenities in the room, and the balcony were really nice. The staff was very nice.
Review 25:No AC so needed to open doors to cool room off - road noise too loud to watch tv when door opened. Windows do protect room from noise when doors are closed. Priced higher than expected to pay with this problem but room was charged in advance with 24 hour notice needed to cancel - don't know of the noise problem until you get there.
Review 26:Room and bathroom were spacious. Room modernly decorated with full complements of cable, internet, and personal touches. Hostess was pleasant, informative and accomodating.
Review 27:Not a real view of the bay! Maybe a sliver of water with a cement gravel plant at the end. LOL! Bed very hard. So uncomfortable. Shower head so low hit me in chest.
Review 28:Nothing!
Review 29:Location not very convenient up on a hill. No complimentary breakfast.
Review 30:Manager very pleasant and patient with my questions. Family operated with pride in their business.
Review 31:weird location, in a neighborhood with residential houses also, no "view" just highway and factories beyond the road
Review 32:very friendly and helpful staff very clean
Review 33:Location was easy to find but in a rather run-down section of town.
Review 34:Travelling with another couple, sharing a room is kinda' weird. So the solution is to book the family suite at the Bayview in Eureka. The suite has one large room with 2 queen beds and spacious bathroom, along with another attached room with one queen bed and a good size bathroom. Each bedroom had its own tv and access to a joint balcony. Large room includes a frig and a prep counter with a bar-sink. Super clean and tidy. Great value.
Review 35:Kitchenette needed a microwave and dishes and silverware to be functional, so it wouod have been to have been served breakfast. The decor needed some sprucing up.
Review 36:Bed was comfortable, wifi was free, and the room was sizeable. Located near lots of restaurants. Fairly quiet given the amount of traffic on the roads below.
Review 37:I travel on business and have early morning meetings. They were able to accommodate me with early check-in and very pleasant stay. Room is very clean and nice view.
Review 38:No fitness room for cardio. Can be a bit noisy from traffic along the 101 highway below.
Review 39:It felt like a family-owned business which it is. Rooms are well designed and spacious, nice balcony and view of the ocean, bathroom also well designed and user friendly.
Review 40:Helpful friendly staff was great. Location is off the main highway so would never have stayed here had I not booked online. Nice room with comfy bed. It was all perfectly adequate.
Review 41:The view was awful. The website said "bay view" but forgot to add that there was a highway and a large ugly industrial area in front of the sliver of bay that could be seen. :(
Review 42:Nice staff, clean room, comfy beds, good value for the money.
Review 43:This part of Eureka isn't the best - but that was what we loved about this hotel (up above it all!). Noisy, but can't be helped.
Review 44:The owner was fantastic, the bed was comfortable, and there's no smoking.
Review 45:When I came home at around 11pm, the lock had been jammed. It seems if you turn the inside lock, it puts a lock on where you put the key, so a key cannot open it. It is a good safety feature, but the only one who can open it back up was the owner, who I had to go wake up. I felt bad. lol
Review 46:Better than I expected for the price. Clean, attractive, with a view and a quiet environment. The grassy lawn outside the back of our room was peaceful and enjoyable. The owners were hospitable and very nice.
Review 47:The king size bed needs a memory foam topper little hard, a microwave oven would be a nice addition to the fridge and all the other appointments in the room, nothing else
Review 48:The hotel is visable from 101(down town) on a secluded bluff away from the back street as well (away from it all ) quite nice clean rooms, nice view of the bay, no drama
Review 49:The bay overlooked has a more commercial / industrial view than ecpected and overlooks the main Highway 101. The ubiquitous 4 wheel drive pick-ups all seem to have a throaty exhaust!
Review 50:Nice big room with comfortable king bed and lovely pillows. Good bathroom, all spotlessly clean. Good fast Wi-Fi.
Review 51:If your coming up main rd it's a great stopping point towards redwoods but young want to go to Trinidad if you are coming from 299
Review 52:Loved the 2 separate bedrooms and my kids were happy not to hear me snore!
Review 53:The location was a little confusing to get to but that was the only "not great" part of the stay.
Review 54:The suite was very clean and pleasant. It was nice to have a space for 5 people, especially the 2 bathrooms. The rooms were well-maintained and in good shape. The staff were helpful with finding a late dinner location.
Review 55:The bed was a little soft, and the showered was low, even for me at 5'9".
Review 56:It was quiet, and very clean. The room setup was great- the counter with a small sink and a pretty large fridge underneath was awesome.
Review 57:The wifi was a little iffy.
Review 58:We loved that it was centrally located, only 5 min from downtown and port areas. Also very close to the many sights around Eureka.
Review 59:Huge room and very comfortable. The owners were wonderful and helped me cut 4 hours off of my travel time the following the day by giving me another route. There are a number of restaurants and other things very close by.
Review 60:No A/C, fan. Could only open window on first floor room. Unsafe for sleeping. Iffy area. TOO expensive for what you get. Staff helpful and friendly. They were best.
Review 61:Very pricey for Eureka, view is a little sad industrial strip of beach, housekeeping entered before we checked out and without knocking.
Review 62:Large room, wifi, friendly staff.
Review 63:We were there on a Saturday night, the noise from the highway just below was very loud, we turned the fan on, that helped only a little. The view was not quite as they pictured and we were in the same room as the picture from the website. When we checked out they did not ask how our stay was.
Review 64:The large tub and fireplace was nice, the balcony was also nice but just an ok view
Review 65:A little farther from the downtown area but worth it.
Review 66:Very nice staff, very clean and the beds were comfortable. The managers stayed up to check us in as we were delayed by fog. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 67:The only complaint was the toliet paper. For such a beautiful room, it was not good. Also, some paper towels would be nice to have in that particular room with the little kitchenette.
Review 68:We liked the room, it's very comfortable with the fireplace and hot tub. It was also very quiet, which is good.. The patio was nice but a little cold to sit on this time of year, but I did watch the sunset and it was awesome!
Review 69:Nice, comfortable room with space. Motel is a couple blocks off the main highway, and was quiet. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay there again
Review 70:There were no floor, table, or bedside lamps; all lighting was ceiling down spots. It was hard for one to sleep while the other read because all the lights above the bed were on.
Review 71:we had a pleasant stay at the Bayview; we liked the size of the room and the porch. Very comfortable and clean. Good central location to Eureka.
Review 72:The room was a little old looking and feeling. Could use some work. As for the bay.... well it's kind of far from the bay. The view of the bay for us was a run down very industrial area. Not pretty. The homeless were everywhere in town. Very unfortunate.
Review 73:I liked how friendly the owners were. We arrived very late and they made accomodations for our late arrival. In the morning I was able to check in and check out. The outside of the hotel is very nice and well kept.
Review 74:We had no complaints. It was a very nice hotel. The owners or staff were very pleasant.
Review 75:The cleanliness, tidiness and grassy areas, parking right next to door. Quieter than expected being so close to Hwy 101.
Review 76:They room was touted as sound proof. Not so. The a/c didn't work so the room was stuffy. There was a table fan. However it was loud. Had to run the fan on the a/c unit to drown out the road noise.
Review 77:Room was large. Lots of space. Smaller hotel so no more than 30 rooms. The staff were very helpful and nice. They had lots of useful info on the area.
Review 78:We arrived in the dark and left in dark so we can't really describe the outside but it was VERY clean in the parking lot and walkways. We were so happy to walk in and see the beautiful decor, the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room. The staff was very friendly!!
Review 79:If the window is left open, there is traffic noise from Highway 101, which runs 50 feet below the bluff on which the motel stands.
Review 80:Welcoming staff. Clean accomodations including bathroom. Comfortable bed.
Review 81:The location is good. It takes 10 minutes to go to downtown and there is bay view. It's a nice and clean motel. The people are nice. He told me where to find good restaurants.
Review 82:No WiFi, lots of excuses. No bay view, just dumpster storage and huge homeless camp across the road. Highway right below balcony was so noisy, conversations were impossible and couldn't leave windows open. Was very warm, only ventilation was an ineffective tabletop fan that made more noise than Hwy 1. No microwave. Hair dryer kept falling into sink from its mount. ZZZt!
Review 83:Clean, large room w/king bed was fairly comfortable. Towels adequate. Staff was friendly.
Review 84:Not the best part of town, no breakfast.
Review 85:Room is excellent. Beautiful Spa tub and private (sturdy!) corner deck with expansive view. Clean, very roomy, quiet even with traffic. Good location, even though not the most beautiful part of town, felt private and secure. Close to everything we needed. Easy to order taxi for dinner.
Review 86:Not near any good eateries. We were there on a Sunday and the "best restaurant in town" along with many others were closed. The historic downtown was nothing like the pictures and most of those stores were also closed. The motel was OK - much like the chains, but a bit dated. The view of the bay had the tops of industrial buildings in front of it. Also, for the price, the chains all have some kind of breakfast, this one had none. Since it is very close to Hwy. 101 it was also very noisy. No A/C so if we opened the window the noise was a factor.
Review 87:Easy on and off Rte. 101. Pretty building. Comfortable bed and room was clean. Had a refrigerator.
Review 88:Not any amenities. Somewhat difficult to find as the sign and uphill drive are on the highway, the hotel itself is not.
Review 89:The hotel is simple but nice is a 1970s way. Met our needs and reasonably priced. Owners are very nice.
Review 90:The view of the bay was basically non-existent and we looked over an old equipment yard. Also, in second bath room, there is no counter-space for supplies.
Review 91:We had a suite so had lots of room, it was clean and beds were very comfortable.
Review 92:Road noise from US-101 is annoying if your windows are open.
Review 93:Nice location, easy in and out, gorgeous view at sunset, a nice patio with a bench to enjoy the end of the day.
Review 94:You can view the bay, over the rusty skips and disused units - then itsonly smoke belching factories in the distance. The hill the motel"lies atop" is 20 - 30 metres high. Lying abottom of said hillis the I101 and 24 hour big rigs. I couldn't sleep through that! After 2 nights I was glad to move on!
Review 95:Large room, good facilities.
Review 96:The bed was a bit hard and uncomfortable, sleep was not great. The view made up for this, though, easily.
Review 97:The view is nice, and the individual backyard patios with backyard access was the best part. They're not private, but it's still very peaceful.
Review 98:The neigborhood isn't the best. On the next hill there are a lot of homeless people. They visited the motel and night and made a lot of noise. The bay is too far away.
Review 99:Huge and clean rooms with balcony.
Review 100:The rooms were big with a nice clean bathroom The staff was friendly and helpful I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a bit out of the way you need a car.
Review 101:This is a functional place to stay. There is nothing attractive about the view or locale. You probably wouldn't want to stay more than a night or two.
Review 102:Run by a nice couple who obviously take pride in their hotel. Well maintained and clean.
Review 103:Eureka has a hug homeless problem, but that is not the motel's fault. None of the homeless were near the hotel.
Review 104:Staff was very friendly and helpful when asked about the area. Great view and the room was very lovely.
Review 105:No AC. You can open the doors for a breeze to blow through. Only problem is it's right on 101. The back door is over looking the road. (But all hotels are in this area.)
Review 106:The location is good. Room was very clean. Large shower. Wi-Fi Would recommend.
Review 107:The "Bay View" was way off in the distance across a busy highway and over a run down business district. The view actually detracts from this quaint facility and they would do well not to try to advertise it.
Review 108:Neat room layouts with front and back doors with small patio and hedged yard where the kids could play.
Review 109:Couldn't find anything we didn't like.
Review 110:Many more amenities than anyplace we've stayed in the past for the money. Cleaner than anyplace we've stayed! Not kidding! Staff took the time to help us find GOOD eating places. Awesome experience!
Review 111:Unfortunately we felt Eueka was generally not a nice place to be. There seemed to be an abundance of homeless people and we generally did not feel it was a safe place to be. The motel was great but in a depressed and rough town.
Review 112:The staff was accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and a good size. We had a family suite that suited us well.
Review 113:While the location was great for the view, the sound of the traffic from the 101 right below was a little off-putting. Also they had vending machines for drinks but no food options!
Review 114:The view. And the room was nice!
Review 115:The room was clean and had a nice view. The people in the office were very nice.
Review 116:Noise from the main road
Review 117:Friendly owner, big room
Review 118:Clean and quiet. Does not have normal terrible included breakfast. Wifi worked well.
Review 119:Great place to stay.
Review 120:The toilet plugged
Review 121:The location was good, the room was comfortable. The woman at the desk was helpful.
Review 122:Ants in the shower. Freeway traffic noise.
Review 123:Beautiful view of the bay! Pay extra for the deluxe king room - nice!
Review 124:no issues
Review 125:Very clean, nice view rooms, friendly staff.
Review 126:Cleanliness!!!
Review 127:Wish there had been a microwave
Review 128:very comfortable room; convenient parking close to room
Review 129:Great Room helpful staff
Review 130:Much better than expected, very good motel. AND VERY FRIENDLY host.
Review 131:Wonderful place to stay!!
Review 132:Closeness to the 101
Review 133:Very friendly, helpful and nice reception; clean, well equipped and comfortable rooms.
