Reviews for Cottonwood Suites Boise Riverside Downtown

Review 1:Nothing in walking distance. Staff were both reading books when we went to check out and couldn't be bothered to look up and help us until I stood there for a couple minutes. Bathroom was not totally clean.

Review 2:Only good thing was the price.

Review 3:It just seemed a little run down. The linoleum was coming up in the bathroom, my tv only had sound and no picture, the smoke alarm was hanging by wires on the wall and the weight machine was out of order in the fitness center.

Review 4:The staff was very nice and attentive and the complimentary breakfast was way better than I expected.

Review 5:Deceptively far from the airport. Could have advertised better that there was a free shuttle.

Review 6:Friendly, polite staff. Decent rooms for a one night layover.

Review 7:$25 a day for 5 days for my little dog is a little pricey - I have to leave her with family - $25 per stay would have been perfect.

Review 8:Love the staff and location of this property.

Review 9:there was supposed to be a exercise room, but it was all out of order. And breakfast was not good, and was exactly the same everyday.

Review 10:Beds and pillows were very comfortable, room was fine.maid service was good.

Review 11:They wouldn't let me check-in because I wasn't 21 (I will be in less than 2 months). I was planning on proposing and they almost ruined my night completely.

Review 12:The spa whirlpool bath was kinda gross. I'm sure the water was clean but the tile was very dirty. It needs to be totally emptied and wiped down.

Review 13:I liked the convenience of parking and the greenbelt. We had a dog, it was so easy to take the dog outside thru the sliding glass door on our downstairs room. The staff was friendly. The guy in the breakfast room both mornings was awesome! He deserves a raise or big Christmas bonus.

Review 14:Although rooms wer clean the bathroom was a bit outdated The out lay of the bathroom needs tender loving care. The toliet constantly ran. They sit too low to floor for elderly people. The TV showed no picture when turned on at one time. The fitness room is the worst I've ever seen

Review 15:The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Review 16:The hotel was well staffed with friendly, courteous and helpful staff.Location was perfect. The free breakfast had a variety of things to eat. I liked staying at this hotel and I plan on staying there again.

Review 17:Nothing. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Review 18:Staff was very friendly and of course they had a good breakfast available for the guests. The accommodations fit our needs perfectly as we spent the day(s) exploring and came back to the room for a good nights rest. The price was right and it was perfect.

Review 19:Took our little dog.wasnt even gone hour.got a voice message he was barking.i know for a fact he wasnt barking for very long.after we left to go eat.

Review 20:It was very friendly staff and clean.

Review 21:The easy entry door by our room wasn't working, and the bed was rather hard.

Review 22:The staff was great, breakfast was more than your average hotel offers and they had great wifi

Review 23:The lady calling every 2 mins about check out we slept a little late she really kept calling every 5mins the lady was annoying and we asked for a late check out

Review 24:The check in lady was very nice the view from room was beautiful

Review 25:Nothing seemed to work not even the phone. it smelled horrible. I had a mirror fall off the wall on top of me. I woke up to pounding and loud noises around 7am and it was still going as I was leaving.

Review 26:The staff

Review 27:- Noisy floor. When somebody walked around, it was like he was walking through my room - Smell on the room was strange, especially when the air conditioning turned on - The breakfast supposed to be from 6am. When I went for breakfast at 6:30, it was closed. The hotel staff told me, that the breakfast guy is late. On the other hand, the staff made everything so I could have something to eat before I had to leave

Review 28:- Good price - Good WiFi - Good Breakfast - Nice bathroom - Willing staff

Review 29:The fitness center was anything but. It had one piece of circuit training equipment that was broken and absolutely no other equipment in the room. No bench, no cardio machines. Nothing.

Review 30:Very comfortable beds. Clean linens and room. Great, accommodating staff. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety.

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:The staff were friendly and informative. Breakfast was well presented and had a lot of variety between hot and cold food. The room was a good size. We didn't feel cramped even though there were 4 adults and a baby.

Review 33:The property was dingy and had roof repairs going on. We booked and paid extra for a room with a "river view" and all we could see out our window was the parking lot. The bathroom had a hole in the ceiling and there was plaster on the floor and black fingerprint smudges on the bed. Also, needs a deep thorough cleaning, especially the bathroom. (disgusting toilet bowl ring and discolored tile grout)

Review 34:The front desk staff was friendly.

Review 35:The morning staff was absolutely terrible. She was beyond rude, had anattitude, etc. when I called and asked about pet fees, they didn'thave any, but when we showed up there was a $25 one. Then we reserved aking room, on the river side, with a balcony, and noted that we weretraveling with a pet, but when I checked in, since we had a pet, we hadto stay on the first floor, in a double bed room. Our reservations werecompletely changed. It was ridiculous.

Review 36:Since we traveled with a pet, we had to be on the bottom floor, and wewere in a room on the river walk side with a sliding door straight tograss, so it was very convenient. The guy that does he breakfast, Jim, I think, so beyond nice and takes pride in his job and serving the guest breakfast.

Review 37:The decor is dark and dreary; not a warm atmosphere, especially hallways. Add some color by using pictures and mirrors to give it a homey feel. The dining area was much brighter and food was average. Server was attentive and gracious!

Review 38:It was comfortable, met our needs and easy to find.

Review 39:I could hear the person snoring in the room next to me and the person above me walking around.

Review 40:Location is great, near walking path and lake. Not far from city. A lot of staff really trying to keep it clean and nice.

Review 41:the staff prioritized a phone call with a woman who was lost over a line of people who had already pre-paid and just arrived to check in. it was rude and showed poor judgement and I will not be returning.

Review 42:Roofers started work on repairs very early, so no chance of a lie-in. Lots of banging even though we weren't on the top floor.

Review 43:very comfortable. Easy walk to find dinner.

Review 44:They didn't have a Map except the one in a magazine and couldn't really recommend restaurants beside from those just around the corner. To go downtown (or at least to get back) on foot it was a bit far out...

Review 45:The room was very spacious and clean. The maid came even though we left the room after 1pm. Breakfast was good

Review 46:Although it's in an odd semi-industrial location, it's a short walk to restaurants along the Riverwalk.

Review 47:The room was large, quiet, clean, comfortable. Hot breakfast buffet was generous.

Review 48:The rooms are not as pictured. This place is pretty much old and dumpy. TV's worked poorly and you couldn't even watch ABC/CBS/NBC! Breakfast was terrible and for the most part they didn't have enough for all the guests. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 49:Initial price was good, but then when I added another day, they tripled the price and in the end it wasn't a very good value. Parking was easy and the front desk was nice, but that was about all I could say that was good.

Review 50:Breakfast was "ok". Most disappointing was the location. Due to one way streets it was hard to get to but more than that, we were under the impression the hotel was "downtown". It is not. While not far away, you definitely have to drive in order to get to the downtown area.

Review 51:The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Review 52:Doors were a little noisy at night. Freeways and roads are very confusing with lanes ending at odd times.

Review 53:It was close to the hospital. Close to the river and trail.

Review 54:I tripped the breaker for our room by using the microwave, and knocked out the lights.

Review 55:Awesome, friendly staff and a beautiful location. The first floor, 'pet' rooms have sliding doors that open onto a green space, which is super convenient.

Review 56:It was just an older hotel, nothing fancy but it was great for the value.

Review 57:Great location, friendly staff. Right on the river walk with a balcony. I would definitely stay again if in Boise.

Review 58:Not located in the greatest of neighborhoods.

Review 59:Location was good.Staff were a joy! The facility was dated,...in need of a good freshening!Value for money was acceptable.Overall, a pleasant stay.

Review 60:$25/Night for my pet; I had to leave her with family. $25 for theduration of my stay would have been perfect.

Review 61:Very accommodating and thorough staff.

Review 62:This hotel is on the edge of the green belt in Boise. It was awesome! Walked with my family every evening. Lovely. Hot fresh coffee every hour of the day.

Review 63:We needed a cab to get into town, so location isn't great, unless you're just passing through.

Review 64:The staff were very friendly and not officious, helping us to figure out where best to eat.

Review 65:The directions to the hotel were a bit confusing. We were told to take exit 3 off 84. Actually it was exit 3 off of 184.

Review 66:The gal at the desk was the kinest & most helpful I have ever met. For some reason she had to do a double shift and was just as kind during the second shift.

Review 67:The breakfast was lacking. No jelly for toast. 2 different kind of eggs plus hard boiled would be good alternate days on sausage and bacon.

Review 68:The staff was very kind and helpful. It was very quite at night. Good size rooms. Nice pool. Breakfast room was very nice and clean. Staff in breakfast room was great..

Review 69:The location was a bit out of the way and a little tricky to get from the hotel to where we needed to be. It is not what I consider downtown.

Review 70:The front desk staff was great on every encounter! The room was spacious and comfortable. The room was clean and well appointed. We stayed 5 nights and had everything we needed.

Review 71:"Claimed" to serve a breakfast on the 2nd floor-conference room, but room was always locked!!!! Never had a breakfast!!! Also, we had the Boise River outside our room but could not even see it because the trees and shrubs were overgrown!! Laundry room was HOT and the dryers left clothes wet after 45 minutes on highest setting at $1.50 per load!! A little tricky getting to the hotel because of the one-way streets .Also, the DirecTV was so SLOW to change channels and for the picture to show up. No guide to show channels or programs. No ice machine on the 3rd floor.

Review 72:Staff was friendly, Boise River right behind room, had a balcony, good priced!! Quiet. People reviewed the rooms as being dirty and run-down but our room was not any of those!! Nice room.

Review 73:Staff were definitely oriented to providing quality service. Check-in, housekeeping, and breakfast room staff all showed attention to detail that was commendable.

Review 74:The breakfast consisted of unhealthy things only, sugary foods and one had to eat from and with all things plastic..!! That was really a disappointment.

Review 75:OK, comfortable room.

Review 76:Staff were rude (some were), rooms were dirty even after maids cleaned. Very noisy. Bad location. TVs in rooms worked half the time. Wi-fi kept cutting in & out.

Review 77:The view of the riverside if you get a riverside view room. Easily walk or bike-ride on the trail. Breakfast was good.

Review 78:Our room had no maid service one night! Rooms were old and needed updating. Lack of electrical outlets made it hard to charge phones! Breakfast not very good.

Review 79:Location next to Greenbelt on the Boise River was good

Review 80:While flipping through channels one night, I came across a porn station. That means any child or teen can have access. If someone wants to watch porn, let them pay for it and lock it off the regular tv. I do not want to see even 2 seconds of it. Also would like a "guide" station so can see what's on each channel.

Review 81:Breakfast Makeup remover pads. Nice basic room. Clean

Review 82:Where to start. The fridge had the last occupants left overs in it, and if it chilled to 40 degrees F I would be amazed. I think that they have a satellite for service, for there were zero local stations available. Yet five (!) HBO channels. The wifi sucked more than Richard Simmons on a submarine, and they have a Meraki blocker so many https sites are blocked. Made my trying to work from my hotel room impossible. It's location is not ideal, you still have to drive to get downtown. Save twenty bucks and stay on 84.

Review 83:Front of house staff were very nice and friendly.

Review 84:Our reservation had not been posted by hotel staff and they were booked full. We provided our confirmation email and were given a room but the process took 20 minutes of waiting.

Review 85:Your staff went above and beyond helping me when I told them about my husband's stay extending an extra day in the hospital. They extended the departure time so I didn't feel pressure while waiting for his release from the hospital.

Review 86:It is old and dingy. For the price I expected more. The mattresses were old and flimsy. The hotel overall smelt musky. The TV was a challenge to operate.

Review 87:The breakfast was great. The location was good.

Review 88:It's not really downtown, though only a five minute drive away. Our rooms were river view, and while that's true, the river is right next to I-84. Still, the room was very quiet and the little balcony was nice in the evenings. No bar or restaurant on-site

Review 89:Beds were very comfy. Front desk staff when we arrived were very friendly and helpful. It's an old 70s-style place that is not fancy, but it's clean, easy to get to with a great pool facility and a sauna room. Breakfast had eggs and sausage along with waffles and regular sugary carbs.

Review 90:Needs a refresh, clean windows in pool area, ventilate pool area, far from downtown, hard pillow's, worn out entry lobby, staff seem out of it / odd. Talked out loud for every issue the hotel was having with everyone checking out and having no clean rooms, etc...

Review 91:Close to river walk.

Review 92:Pool and Spa were not working at time of my stay and they offered a 10% discount yet it was not entered into the system and so upon check out it was a bit of a hassle.

Review 93:The location, the facilities and the pet friendly option.

Review 94:Friendly staff at desk. Had a great suggestion for a coffee shop on our way out of town. Right on the greenbelt. 10 minute walk to downtown farmer's markets Saturday morning.

Review 95:We were very unhappy with the tv. It wasn't always working and when it was there were no local channels. We were told that the hotel recently switched from cable to satellite. We were not happy with this.

Review 96:The location was good for the activities our family had. We had 4 rooms with a total of 8 people in our family staying and our rooms were together. The staff was very helpful.

Review 97:Breakfast was horrible, powdered eggs tgat were somehow overcooked.

Review 98:Pictures are a bit misleading, but overall comfort for value is good. Def needs a bit of a facelift

Review 99:Had to wait for a room where the TV worked and no wifi. Had to check in late which spoiled our first day. There were dogs running down the hallways and no one seemed concerned.

Review 100:The location for walking etc. and a good breakfast

Review 101:Carpet seemed a little old and perhaps could have been cleaner.

Review 102:Great location; took the green belt walk. Very nice setting. Room was riverside with balcony and lots of green trees in view. Comfortable bed; good facilities.

Review 103:There was no wifi or tv period. They seemed to "pretend" to beworking on them. However we discovered they had both been out for manyweeks. The pool area was consumed by mildew and mold and crust/filththat was chipping from brick. There was no access to the outdoorpatio/from pool. Staff did not want to be "bothered" andone night mgr literally rolled her eyes throughout our time in thelobby. We were offered a discount and have yet to receive it.

Review 104:The view /after we said we did not want the room they gave usoverlooking (and smelling) the dumpster.

Review 105:The picture on the site looked nothing like the hotel room I stayed in. It was very old, stinky, and dirty. You could hear everyone in the hotel.

Review 106:The staff was friendly and my bed was comfortable.

Review 107:There was NO wifi in the rooms. The webside indicates that there is a hotel-airport shuttle. There is not a dedicated shuttle. They call a taxi for you but cannot always get you there in a timely manner.

Review 108:The hotel rooms are nicer than the hotel. There is a lot of updating happening. The pool was clean

Review 109:We had no TV and no internet. Very disappointing. The fitness room was practically non-existent...no treadmill or bike.

Review 110:The room was large, had a pretty good view and was close to the greenbelt. I also liked how the stairs were open and carpeted, not enclosed and creepy like many hotels.

Review 111:See above plus there was no wi fi and no TV service The clerk said she was sorry but she called to let me know, so .... So?

Review 112:Not a thing and the pictures listed on Booking.com could not possibly have been taken inside that dump

Review 113:It says that there is free wifi in all the rooms, but in fact the wifi just works in the reception area. There were no channels in the TV either so bring a book. They did a discount when we told them, so maybe it's just a temporary thing?

Review 114:Nice, clean comfortable hotel with lovely staff.

Review 115:We stayed at this facility 5 years ago and it was "under renovation." We chalked up the "wear and tear" to something that would be improved in the future. Our recent visit revealed that the "wear and tear" was still present with no sign of renovation. The staff gave the excuse that the facility was undergoing renovation. Five years for renovation with no improvement seems excessive. We won't be staying there again.

Review 116:This hotel had no WiFi available in the rooms only in the lobby. They advertised free wifi in all rooms and that was just not true. Also the TV service had been down so no tv at all. The room needed updating. The lampshades were falling apart and blankets were old and worn. I travel a lot and this was one of the worst rooms I have stayed in.

Review 117:Hotel staff was friendly. Location was convenient.

Review 118:TV was out. WiFi was out. Very inconvenient for people working and needing to use wifi! The lobby was packed and uncomfortable to work in. The mgmt should have offered discount across the board instead of guests having to ask.

Review 119:River location is pretty. Right next to green-belt and nice walking path along river. The entire staff was really nice. Desk, house cleaning and the guy serving breakfast we're all very friendly.

Review 120:Staffing was inadequate in the late afternoon when we arrived. Staff on hand could not fix a stopped-up toilet and didn't offer to change our room. Advertised wi-fi wasn't working in rooms.

Review 121:Really good breakfast.

Review 122:This hotel is dark, dirty and as I was there the week of a sports tournament, exhorbitantly overpriced at $360 per room. The balcony had no chairs, bird poop on the railing, and the hallway carpet was filthy and the halls themselves dark. It's just gross and needs to be overhauled badly. And the fact that they jacked up prices due to vacancy makes this review even more merciless at the rate I paid.

Review 123:Staff was helpful and friendly. Air conditioned.

Review 124:no towels in pool or weight rooms. checked with front desk and none available. had to go back to room on third floor. soda machine on third floor did not work.

Review 125:great pool and hot tub. very clean accommodations.

Review 126:Wasn't able to check in until an hour after check-in time, after being turned away twice (once an hour early, and then again on time). My ground floor room window opened up to a park trail busy with walkers, runners, and bikers. I coukdn't watch the NBA finals in my room because they only had 10 random channels, none of which were ABC. That might sound petty, but it was the ENTIRE REASON I booked a hotel that night of my road trip, rather than camped. (side note: McCleary's bar on Orchard is awesome). Overall, highly disappointing. Save yourself a few bucks and just go with a more reliable. If get hotel that doesn't masquerade as something it's not.

Review 127:Location is okay if you have a car or bike.

Review 128:WiFi did not work for 2 1/12 days, beds were broken down and uncomfortable, found 3 spiders in the bathroom, fan in bathroom did not work, landscaping was an overgrown brown mess, security door did not close. It was definitely not what was pictured on the booking site.

Review 129:The staff was friendly - just not too helpful.

Review 130:Could not open balcony door as noise from Freeway was intrusive in morning and night and could not leave door open at other times as Air Conditioner was faulty. Lass on front desk was helpful when we reported it.

Review 131:Competent and friendly staff on desk and breakfast room. Rooms spacious and comfortable with all requirement met. Good wifi and tv. Stayed 2 nights. Room faced the river which looked great.

Review 132:Wifi didn't work. Called the front desk, and they said they'd reset the router and we should " give it a minute." Not so much. Free wifi is a factor in choosing one hotel over another. Don't advertise it if you don't have the bandwidth to support it.

Review 133:Pillows

Review 134:It was located near a green belt where I could take morning and evening walks in a safe environment. My room looked out onto this path by the river, so I felt like I was in a country setting, even though it was on Main Street.

Review 135:We did not like the fact that we were unable to get local channels on the television, or for that matter any more than three channels. Also, the bathroom vent fan didn't work.

Review 136:We liked the weekend stay, rooms were clean and comfortable. It's not the Ritz, but we were satisfied with the value and the location was perfect for our needs.

Review 137:The bed I slept in was terrible. Their next improvement should be an investment in new ones!

Review 138:They are making improvements to the property, that's evident. The place was clean and the staff very nice and helpful.

Review 139:The pool was closed without notice on the booking which was very disappointing. The entire building smells of old cigarette smoke...very stale.

Review 140:The staff is very friendly and the breakfast included with the price of the room was more than adequate.
