Reviews for Eureka Town House Motel - Historic Old Town

Review 1:But paying $12 extra for a pet bumped the rate to $80, which is way too much for a tiny motel without even simple amenities like breakfast or windows that face the street. The place was totally clean and fine, just not worth $80.

Review 2:Location downtown was great

Review 3:It's across the street from The Humboldt Co jail and it on the edge of a shady neighborhood.

Review 4:Clean comfy rooms, nice staff. Decent food and bars walking one direction. 3 nights $200

Review 5:had to try door key about half-dozen times (each time I opened the door) before the door unlock activated ... but no big deal.

Review 6:Friendly checkin, upgraded to king for no extra charge, large overhead showerhead, cleanliness great despite older facility, easy downstair parking

Review 7:This hotel is very outdated and has very tight parking. The rooms look over the car park which is dimly lit. The rooms were filthy- all surfaces were covered in thick dust. Our heater (which we couldn't turn off) smelt of gas. There are a lot of homeless people around the hotel, which is more a reflection of Eureka rather than the hotel locality. Streets are very dark at night time.

Review 8:Manager gave good recommendations on where to visit

Review 9:People should know that the motel is right behind a jail. Lots of tweakers and desperate folks all around. Motel had no"non-feather" bedding.I have a severe allergy to feathers. I needed to microwave a pillow case and stuff a blanket in it. (Note: "About 30% of people have a feather allergy.") Also, small point, but no artificial sweeter. Was going to stay 5 days but checked out after first night.

Review 10:I like the lively decor and its proximity to old town.

Review 11:Doesn't look great from the outside but all rooms inward facing so very little road noise. Desk clerk very friendly and gave us good recommendations for dinner. Very convenient location for the Old Town.

Review 12:The front desk staff (I believe father & son) were wonderful! They took the time to go over details of our stay and also gave us directions and brochures for things to do in Redwoods. They were above and beyond kind and accommodating and tipped the scale towards a great rating. The motel itself is basic but very clean and quiet. Plus I felt safer knowing the sheriffs office is right across the street.

Review 13:It was in the middle of remodeling and had a bit of new construction in progress. Some projects seemed be to done unprofessionally and quickly.

Review 14:Location was great. Seemed in the heart beat of town but still secluded.

Review 15:Did not accommodate people who are handicapped . All rooms up 12 steepsteps, we asked for the lowest floor and there is no such thing and nomention on advertisement. The manager would not issue a refund, after hewas well aware of the circumstances.

Review 16:Rooms could be renovated / updated. They seem a bit gloomy and lack character. There is some noise from the street and the nearby bar which can be a bit off-putting. We felt safe staying there though.

Review 17:Good central location to explore that part of the West coast. Central location downtown, easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Staff were efficient and friendly. Excellent large screen T.V.

Review 18:I liked the family who run this hotel/motel. They were helpful and very pleasant. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was also extremely clean. Also the bed was very comfy- we slept very well!

Review 19:Really old nasty ill equipped motel that is grossly overpriced.

Review 20:There is nothing to like about this place other than the pleasant chap at the front desk.

Review 21:It was a typical,no frills right off the Hwy Motel. The convenience to "Old Town" was nice. Coming face to face with multiple (and clearly severely mentally ill homeless people ), & having to kick a syringe away from our vehicle the next day (not so good). The staff was accommodating and helpful. City of Eureka, you need to get a handle on your town before businesses are forced to shut their doors due to the apparent epidemic of transients in downtown /oldtown.

Review 22:only window was onto common inside area with no net curtains so I had to draw curtains for any privacy. we had 2 rooms - one was quite good on a corner with outside window but mine was dark, poky and exposed.

Review 23:bed quite comfortable, wifi worked

Review 24:Room was very small for 2 beds, noise from street traffic came through the windows, no air conditioner although there was a fan in the room.

Review 25:Good water pressure and shower head.

Review 26:Cramped parking. Downtown makes for interesting characters walking by. Not sure it's the safest place but they did have a bank of security monitors. Alone, I'd stay again but not with family.

Review 27:Good price. Clean.

Review 28:There were a lot of homeless people in the neighborhood.

Review 29:Location by 101 was easy to find. We got two room apartment. There were renovated Victorian houses closeby.

Review 30:We felt very unsafe in the area. It is full of homeless people. They have security cameras but anyone can walk up to room doors.

Review 31:It was a bed for the night, full stop!

Review 32:I liked how accessible the hotel was and within walking distance of old town eureka, enjoyed the free wifi, many TV channels and fridge and microwave for the leftovers we had saved from going out.

Review 33:A bit antiquated, but that gave it some character.

Review 34:Handy location very near to downtown. Despite being in an old and rather quaint building the room was perfectly clean and and had all the necessary facilities.

Review 35:It was a place to sleep. Not in a good part of town. I could hear people yelling at each other outside our room; using not nice language

Review 36:. The only good thing it has going for it was that it had 2 bedrooms which is nice when traveling with a family.

Review 37:Beds could be updated.

Review 38:Very nice and friendly staff. Clean rooms and premise. Shower great, bed decent. Easy walking distance to the historic portion of Eureka. Carport parking. Even though an old property, owners have kept it freshly painted, clean and comfortable with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. We would return!

Review 39:Not the best area of town with a fair few homeless people about, but we had no problems.

Review 40:Clean rooms, shower with hot and plentiful water, quick wifi, fridge and microwave, good TV. <5min walk to a number of reasonable restaurants. Note you need to be on 101 southbound to see the motel as the streets are one way through the town.

Review 41:Parking is cramped but plenty of parking on the street.

Review 42:Great location, the owner was very attentive. Room was clean and included all the things we needed.

Review 43:The warm welcome from the man at reception and the added travel advice from him was greatly appreciated. Even though in the centre of town it was very quiet. Bed was very comfortable and the room very clean

Review 44:Very friendly staff. Made online reservation of one room with two queens in the morning. Upon arrivel we got a room with three queens at no extra costs.

Review 45:Street noise on room facing main st., lack of common area bathroom (in room only), surrounded by ashpalt and government buildings.

Review 46:Convenient location, accomodating management, clean and well-managed facility, comfortable rooms. Loved the covered common area in the middle. Parking easy and convenient, easy walking to restaurants and old town.

Review 47:There is a substantial homeless element in this neighborhood, which makes it a little uncomfortable walking around. My card key didn't work half the time, requiring me to go to the office to have it re coded.

Review 48:This motel is conveniently located near Eureka's old town

Review 49:Our room had an older style gas heater in the wall. The pilot light was giving away a fairly strong smell of gas. Somewhat alarming, although the rooms do have carbon monoxide detectors.

Review 50:Very clean room, big bed, big bathroom, microwave and fridge as well as a location very near scenic old town houses like the Pink Lady.

Review 51:The location is not good. It is in historic old town, but there were a lot of homeless and we didn't feel real safe.

Review 52:The motel, inside and out was neat and tidy and clean. They gave us a king bed even though we only paid for a queen.

Review 53:The location was great -- right off the freeway and yet a short walk to the historic downtown. A good gateway to the redwoods forest. The staff was very helpful and friendly with good suggestions for what to do once in the forest.

Review 54:Property was close to everything in Old town Eureka. Room had three windows that opened! Perfect for fresh air. Only downside of location was traffic noise with windows open. But, with windows closed, traffic noise was very muted.

Review 55:It's located directly across the street from the county jail. While walking my dog in the morning ran into some interesting folks, but never felt "unsafe" while staying there.

Review 56:Location, and can't beat the price.

Review 57:Room was fairly basic, but the price was also quite basic, especially for Eureka, which tends to be on the high side. Had some issues with the key cards that would only work some of the time.

Review 58:The manager kept an eye out for us and recommended that we move our car from the back alley to the covered parking in the front of the motel. We had some business at the County Courthouse, which is right down the block, so it was a convenient place to stay.

Review 59:The staff were extremely kind and helpful. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. This place is really good value for the price. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 60:There were a couple of strange loud noises from nextdoor late at night, and no breakfast provided.

Review 61:Very well located downtown with free parking. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, would recommend it just for that!

Review 62:Nice budget hotel...nothing flash but suited our needs. Room was large enough, comfy bed and everything clean. Lovely staff who were very helpful :-)

Review 63:Couldn't open the windows for fresh air

Review 64:Close to the charming old town and harbour and just three blocks from a great bar & grill suggested by the receptionist. Very clean with modern fridge microwave & tv. Ticked all the boxes & secure parking.

Review 65:The first parking spot on the left is so tight I brook my side mirror I think the wall and floor should be well marked that is a very tight spot I drive a subaru and I could not open my doors after a long drive you often don't think so clearly :( made it a very expensive stay :(

Review 66:The staff and office were very helpful when our car broke down.I felt like family. The motel might not be brand new but it was clean, centrally located and had the best shower heads that I've ever used, plus plenty of hot water .If you want all the bells and whistles some of the other places offer like hot tubs and mini bars go somewhere else. ..

Review 67:Nothing

Review 68:I enjoyed staying here , very helpful owners , spotlessly clean , free parking . We upgraded to room with spa bath , which was lovely . Easy wm to Victorian part & the water front .

Review 69:Room was very small, very bare with electrical cords stretching tight across bare walls from plugs low on wall up to TV. Bathroom was also very small, tight shower, with small thin towels.

Review 70:Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee Maker

Review 71:Very old and tired property, in an extremely run down neighbourhood. Addicts and panhandlers literally all around. No AC. Very noisy (both road noise and other guests), you can literally hear people walking by your room.

Review 72:Parking on site

Review 73:Little noisy as room faces Route 101 south. As with most US rooms, nothing provided with microwave to heat in (no cups, plates, bowls) - so useless unless you carry your own stuff. No tea.

Review 74:Position in historic part of town

Review 75:Unable to have a darken room. Needed to leave window open, bright light shing and unable to shut door (wanted cool air) Note: would not stay again. Would schedule travels to be in some other city.

Review 76:Ratings indicated it was to be a good deal - guess our "scale" didn't rate the same.

Review 77:We had a truck and parking was a little tight.

Review 78:. For the area when I got there I was concerned but it turned out to be a clean courteous motel.there were concerns of panhandlers but we didn't encounter any.

Review 79:THe location is just by the highway. Very noisy indeed. You have to close all the windows and doors all the time. Otherwise you cannot sleep.

Review 80:The manager is friendly.

Review 81:Some road noise and the surrounding area was a little sketchy at night (you can say that about other places in this town too!). Did not feel unsafe however.

Review 82:Easy place for a quick stopover. Clean, hot, newly renovated shower.

Review 83:The bed was a little too hard for my taste as a side sleeper.

Review 84:The staff was very friendly and helpful. It had over 300 TV channels to choose from.

Review 85:Located across the street from a jail.

Review 86:Clean room, great staff. Excellent value for the money.

Review 87:Great location to walk to old town and explore the north coast.

Review 88:warm and reletavely quite

Review 91:The city of eureka needs to pay a little more attention to the area around this hotel.

Review 92:The hotel way great for the money.

Review 93:Location

Review 94:no frills building - nice inside - close to old town - beautiful Victorian homes - good place to take a walk

Review 95:Towels were very tired. Shower stall needed a place to put toiletries

Review 96:Nice staff. Comfortable bed. Great location for walking

Review 97:Great location, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable room. Building itself has character, for the price you won't get anything better.

Review 98:Fantastic staff. The hotel is a little older but they keep is extremely clean. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 99:Very close to old town. Receptionist Alpesh (?h) charming and helpful. Room had all we needed. Comfortable bed

Review 100:See above

Review 101:Not much as we drove up to the motel there was a group of homeless folks to greet us.

Review 102:The property is tired and dated, but the rooms are clean and the staff are very helpful.

Review 104:No AC had to leave window open to noisey on hwy 101 could not sleep at all left more tired than i arrived.
