Review 2：The host is a Navy veteran, as I am, and he shared some great stories and plans for ship refurbishments that thrilled me. The room was very big and clean. The location to Newport was great.

Review 4：It's always a great stay at The Pineapple Inn. Just a short 10 minute drive to Thames St in Newport but less than half price of those pricey hotels. Owner actually told me the rates went down by $10 since I had booked and reduced my room payment. My boyfriend and I stay here 3 or four times per year for the last 3 years. Highly recommend!

The manager was generous with information about the work being done to upgrade what had become a derelict property. It's not there, yet, but the rooms are comfortable enough and wi-fi, small fridge and bath adequate.
Review 11：1950's motel working to make a comeback with new owner. Distance is problematic, but manageable. Room had a strange odor, might be from their cleaning solutions. How old ? If you want to pop open a beer bottle while sitting on the "throne" this place is for you! Need more hangers for "closet" We paid high season price and did not think it was warranted.
Review 12：Clean room, except lacked adequate soap, shampoo, hair rinse (one packet per person) and thin towels. Bed was comfortable. Check in/staff were helpful. Need to improve quality of towels and offer more then 1 per person. Beds were truly comfy with plenty of pillows.

Review 14：I booked Thursday for a Saturday over night. Surprised to find a Newport/ Middletown accomodation available. Price was very reasonable for this late notice and location. Owner was at front desk and allowed me to check out our room prior to submission of credit card payment.. clean and functional..we approved. Great place to lay your head.. new management is working hard to renovate and update entire facility thus some rooms are not available..
Review 15：The office was disgusting and rooms doors looked they had been bashed in at one point or another. The tub when you took a shower filled up with water almost to point of over flowing.

Review 19：After reading some of the negative reviews, my expectations weren't very high. I was pleasantly surprised. It appeared that our room had been very recently redone. All fresh paint, carpeting, and a brand new bathroom made the room seem clean and comfortable. It was within a few miles of Newport attractions.
Review 20：Overpriced. We had a bad experience when we found a huge stain in the bed sheets. The TV didn't work. The fridge was old and rusty and the coffee maker was very dirty. Also, they didn't supply new coffee the next day.

Review 27：The location at first gives not the best impression; but once you're in and settled you get over that. From what we heard, if local development efforts are successful, and the curb appeal work keeps on, then they'll have an enviable spot in a short while.

Review 29：This was a budget friendly motel. It was clean but no frills. Since it was July 4 weekend it was exactly what I needed something centrally located where I could sleep at night since I spent most of my time out of the room.
Review 30：There were ants inside the wall where the AC unit was. And did noticed the towels(even though they looked clean, had a smell to them.

Review 36：We had to go and buy pillows for the beds as they only had 2 flat ones on each bed. The refrigerator ran all night it was needed to be defrosted and the door would not close, so this had not been looked at or cleaned in a while. The floor had not been vacuum as well.

Review 40：I will never stay here again. The heat was broken in the room when we got there. Luckily, my boyfriend is handy and was able to fix it. When I went to shower, the water was dark brown along with the sink water. It was disgusting. The wifi also did not work whatsoever and there was no cell phone reception. I will never ever be back to this hotel. They really need to get the water fixed and the wifi should have actually worked. We couldn't get out of the room fast enough the next morning!
Review 41：Towels and washcloths were dingy and rough to the touch. Showerhead squirted water to wall wetting floor and towel on bar. Ants in bathroom and killed large spider. I asked guy. At front desk for spray because of ants. He asked me if I put sugar on the floor. Told him there is hole in wall, a leak in shower, sink and I had bought Ajax to clean the Scunthorpe tub. Room next to office has pure black mold in fridge when opened so me and my hubby requested what turned out to be the ant room and water leaks! I used wash cloth to wrap showerhead from leaking. I was given flying insect spray for ants. So I kept cleaning room and avoided placing food trash items in can to prevent any other critters from lurking. Online it said last room left . Upon arrival seems everyone checked out. Lot was empty! We saw 3 people during our 5 day stay. Not much to do in area. Several restaurants around and a skimpy casino with slots that require you to bet a certain minimum. We had to entertain each other since no fun stuff to do. Maybe best to visit in summer at a different location. Front desk could care less about maintenance issues.

Review 49：I think Pineapple Inn's management should decide to section off an area for smoking rooms. It was very cold outside which made it difficult for me to enjoy my cigarettes. Although smoking is a bad habit to have, it is legal to smoke and therefore should be ok to have a smoking room to do so in. Of course, these smoking rooms should be possibly in the far back of the Inn and might even cost slightly higher ($5 - 10) per night.
Review 50：I like the location which is less than a mile to the shopping outlet center and Newport Grands. The Inn is tucked away from the highway traffic noise. I enjoyed hearing the birds whistle each morning and enjoy watching the wild rabbits in the evening.

Review 55：No wifi. No breakfast. A few spiders here and there. Cleaning lady left dirty towels from former resident on the bathroom floor. All sheets and blankets had cigaret burns on them. Room smelled bad. One blanket had blood stains on it! And I'm pretty sure the walls are made of asbestos which is linked with cancer risk.

Review 60：We stayed for Labor Day weekend They didn't make the beds or clean the room. when we asked for fresh towels they said the towels were being washed when they were done they would bring them to the room and never did. the bathroom faucet didn't work.
Review 61：There was nothing in the room but a bed, nightstands and a couple of drawers...no chairs or table. The air conditioner was fairly noisy. The second day, it seemed the covers were pulled up, but no sheet change and the bathroom didn't look freshly clean. We had only 1 thin bath towel.

Review 69：The tub looked dirty; plus, there was no mat in the tub. However our tub had old strips; yet I almost fell getting in. There were no hand grips to support you getting in and out. It would have been more comfortable to have a table and chairs in the room. The room is large enough to handle it. Refrigerator was not plugged in and took a while to get cold. Very sloppy paint job on the walls, trim and radiator in bathroom.

Review 71：the service wasn't the most inviting. the staff were continually warning me not to do things that I had no intention of doing such as having extra guests or smoking or partying. since it was just me and my wife relaxing for a weekend this I thought was uncalled for and a turnoff. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest and neither was the floor. The ad said they had queen size beds but I have a queen at home and this was much smaller. It was actually a full bed. Furthermore, for $300 for two nights that's quite pricey for a tiny little room with no amenities. Luckily for us we were only sleeping and showering there. Based on location it was the cheapest thing available but you get what you pay for and if it weren't in Newport I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a weekend. so if you rent in Newport you may want to spend some extra money to get a better hotel room experience.

Review 74：Though it's a cheap option in Newport, this motel remains overpriced like most accomodation in this town. It didn't smell very good in our room and if you look at the towels and linen you realize that there have been lots of guests before. Neither the TV nor the Wifi didn't work properly.

Review 76：We arrived two hours early, and understandably we couldn't check into our room (at a hotel that had absolutely no car in its lot). We asked if we could at least use a restroom because of a very long drive we just had, and because we were spending out $ on a stay there, and the owner's response was that he didn't have a bathroom. Broken refrigerator (not good for my 14 month old's milk), food crumbs in our bed, a curtain that didn't reach the length of the windows, and a toilet that was angled so that you leaned to the right when you sat on it.

There were two beds in the room - we had obviously used only one bed and our things were on the unused bed. The only "things" on the used bed were the hotel supplied bed linens. I expected more for $150/night. I would stay here again only as a last resort!

Review 86：Even for a budget motel this place is poor Room smelt like it hadn't been opened for a few months and rooms very run down and facilities basic Worst of all is it appears homeless/addicts have set up camp near rooms at the rear of the property which didn't make for a feeling of safety

Review 88：It does not look anything like web pix Even the entrance sign was run down and in need of a little repair It was total asphalt and concrete. toilet seat was not sized correctly had to ask for extra towels had to ask for ironing board and iron was told to look behind vending machine and to fish it out of a pile of boxes etc. myself and carry it down to our room wi fi was unacceptable the desk manager was helpful but the lady (maybe his wife?) was not and could use some people skills as well. we asked to have a cab arranged to pick us up for a n afternoon wedding and the manager said he would set up for 4:30 pm When I brought the ironing board back to the front desk at 4:15 I double checked to make sure cab was on schedule for 4:30 and the woman at the desk said no cab had been called because her husband had said we were arranging it ourselves. The husband gave us a (about a ten minute) ride to the wedding venue which was nice and we did arrange a return trip on our own. When we turned in our keys the next day i asked the women at the desk if she could make change for twenty and before I had to explain to her that I was going to give her husband $10 for his driving us she dismissed my request in a brusk fashion. needless to say I had no more interest in giving that outfit anything more. Our room was not cleaned while we were there.(fri arrival to sun departure) We got our money's worth but it could have been a much nicer stay with a little effort on the part of the staff and a little pride on the part of the ownership. How could an owner let a place in a pretty nice location go to seed like that?

Review 102：Overpriced. Reserved a queen bed online a few days in advance, when we arrived they were not prepared for us and gave us 2 twins without informing us of the change. Room was dirty. Hair on sheets and in bathroom, mirrors dirty, no tv remote, cigg burns on comforter. Not sure what the other rooms are like, but from our experience there we definitely will not return.
Review 103：The shower was riddled with Mold, the room reeked of mildew and cigarette smoke for a non-smoking room we were staying for our toddler, there was only free wifi in the office and not in the rooms as specified in their ad. Refrigerator was broken. Lack or friendly service and accommodations when asked was given attitude. Affordable or CHEAP hotel stay does hot mean a customer should receive rude demeanor or attitude.

Extra towels and coffee werereadily available. The bed, bathroom and refrigerator were always clean.The room we had this past weekend was extremely clean as though it hadbeen recently renovated and painted. We have never gotten a dirty roomwith ants or seen any drug deals or prostitutes in the area! This willalways be our first choice of places to stay unless we want to pay $275a night somewhere else.
Review 107：When we first walked in I thought the room smelled like urine, but later realized it was a mildew smell coming from the bathroom. I stopped noticing it after a while. I walked down to the office to get an ice bucket but was assured that it was in the room. It was not, but when I asked somebody else they gave me one. The beds were very hard, not just firm, my back hurt in the morning. The Wi-fi was so weak I couldn't use it on my phone, but it worked fine for the laptop. The housekeeping came in every day, but as far as I can tell they just took our used towels and inexplicably changed our window curtains half way through our stay. The microwave and refrigerator would have been great if they worked properly. The room was maybe a bit too small for all the furniture they keep in there.
Review 108：The staff was very nice. Check in/out was painless and any request I made was acknowledged. If you know how to get around, the location is great. The room was very inexpensive. Overall, the hotel was satisfactory. Our intention was to save money on lodging so we could spend more on dining and entertainment.

Wish we hadread the reviews before we booked at the Pineapple Inn.No chair inroom..no Wi-Fi access..bathroom door was warped..not able to close.Office not open 24 hours..unable to get ice. Certainly not up to ourstandards as far as comfort and cleanliness is concerned. We did enjoyour 2 meals at the Blue Plate Diner in Middleton, R.I. just minutesaway. We paid $173.43 Canadian ($158.15 American) to stay Fridaynight..this was the most expensive stay of our vacation. I now see anadvertised rate on booking.com (Sunday night) for $78 Canadian includingtax?? Maybe an error?? That seems, to me, more in line for what thismotel is worth. We won't be back..even if it were free! I forgot tomention the train tracks close by..When we heard the train we justlaughed..and said, "Why not??!!"

Review 111：Room was FILTHY!!!!! Shower was disgusting- had to wear flip flops. Shower head sprayed sideways and flooded bathroom. (But at least that cleaned the floor). Chairs in room had gross stains on them. Vent in bathroom almost clogged with dust. Soap dish by sink covered in crusted on soap. Burn holes in comforter and blanket. Inside of fridge had rusted shelf, freezer had 2" of frost in it. Do NOT stay here!
