Quinta da Vila Maria sells fast on our site. Located in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, Quinta da Vila Maria is 10 minutes’ driving from Portalegre. This restored house is set in a traditional, organic vineyard and provides one and two-bedroom apartments. It retains its original period features.
All apartments include a well-equipped kitchenette, living and dining area, and private bathroom with shower, free WiFi, flat-screen satellite TV, and scenic countryside views.
There are several local restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive from the Quinta and supermarkets and a local market in Portalegre. Breakfast is provided every day at the apartments, so guests can enjoy their meals at their own leisure. Each apartment also has tea and coffee making facilities.
A variety of outdoor activities are available in the area, including walking, mountain biking, bird watching, horse riding, fishing and swimming. Mountain bike rental and horse riding can be arranged through reception. Reguengo’s public swimming pool is a 10-minute walk away.
Day trips include medieval Marvão and Castelo de Vide, historic Vila Viçosa, Portalegre, Estremoz and Évora, Roman remains at Ammaia, Torre de Palma and Mérida, the fortified towns of Elvas and Badajoz and numerous Neolithic dolmens and menhirs.

The quinta, located in a former wine merchant’s country house in the heart of the vineyard, is decorated with a lot of charm. The owners, Jane and Edward, were extremely welcoming and helpful. Our only regret was not to stay longer! We definitively recommend this place.

Review 17：Exceeded expectations! Such a beautiful house and grounds in a traditional style with interesting winemaking artifacts, considerate modern touches and lovely helpful hosts. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need and much bigger than appears in the photos. Could comfortably stay for a week in this peaceful location, especially sat down by the water font and only wish I’d had the time. Close to the lovely countryside in the National Park and visits to local wineries.
Review 18：Quinta da Vila Maria is beautifully renovated Portuguese “vivenda”, la large family house, on a wonderful countryside of Upper Alantejo region. Ed and Jane were the perfect hosts. Jane sent us email with all the details immediately after our booking, they were waiting for us, made a reservation for the nearby restaurant, and at the end of our stay waved us goodbye. The apartment was lovely and confortable, the breakfast was great, the plus is a terrace where you can have a breakfast or an afternoon glass of wine. Will definitely come back.

We wereabsolutely well received by the adorable couple that manages the Quinta.They, from the very beginning until our last minute there, demonstratedthorough attention to us, assuring we were comfortable and well fed. Allthe information we needed concerning restaurants, places to visit andeven wine production was given to us in the warmest way. The Quintaconsists of a seven acre terrain where olive trees, grapevines and apool compose a relaxing and picturesque sight. In front of such idyllicplace stays the house in which are the apartments. Ours was perfectlyclean and tidy. The decoration and the furniture make everything cosy.All the required utensils were available, making our stay easier. We aregrateful for having so marvelous a time.
