Reviews for Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

Review 1:The hotel is tired, hallways, bedrooms needs new carpets and furniture etc. I was in the older wing.

Review 2:Location and easy to get to from the airport and to my business location

Review 3:Non-Smoking room was pungent with old cigarette odor, always coming from the heating unit that might have leftover tobacco tar inside. Old, discolored hand towels with dim yellow stains, mis-matching hand towels where one looks newer and another looks dark, discolored and very weathered. My suit, tie and dress clothes that I hung in the closet came away smelling like cigarettes once I left the hotel. Dented tile in the bath.

Review 4:The staff was very comforting in what turned out to be an uncomfortable stay. The human experience was enjoyable from start to finish.

Review 5:There were hairs stuck to the shower wall. The sheets were stained and had a hole in them. And then my personal pet peeve, we hung up our towels to use again and they were replaced anyway.

Review 6:Loved the beds!

Review 7:Carpet is a little dirty in hallways. Needs cleaning or replacing for people with bad allergies.

Review 8:Staff is amazing. We had experience with registration, housekeeping, restaurant, bar and shuttle. All of which is the reason we keep staying here.

Review 9:We arrived on 8/7/2015 the day of our check-in at your Red LionHotel there was no Availabilty Quenn Doule Bed/room (5 people) thatI reserved. Adults & childrens (5 people) has to fit in a King sizeBed. I was charged $40. Deposit for the first nigh stay & $10. Thestaff are very dishonest! I was charged additional fee that I was notinform with honest information. I've received different falsestatement from 3 different staff. I ask for the receipt breakdown on check-in that I was charged for 3 days stayed. I was told I can't get noreceipt. No details information were given to me where the room'slocated. Just handed me the 2 card keys (one is not activate) till I askwhere we have to go for our room. We were at the locate for disabilitypatron room that has no Bathtub but Open door (curtain) above the floorthat water gets wet all over the floor that we have to protects our selfby placing the towels on the floor so the children/adullt does notget slip down on the wet floor everyday!Garbage still in the trash on the 2nd days. Room was not very clean enough! Free Wifi very slow! Can't use the free wifi for Laptop that I have to use my hotspot devices. We did not get help from the staff with our carrying bags to bring them in the room.ho I was very, "VERY DISAPPOINTED" of our 3 days stayed in your Red Lion Hotel. Review rate to 0- star. Sorry! From Room 217 Your Very Disappointed Customer. San Diego, California

Review 10:Just the soap Bed! But, we prepare the queen size double bed! Thechildren had fun in the Swiming pool!

Review 11:I have mobility issues, there were no handicapped rooms left but the desk work worked hard to find a room on the first floor and near a door where my car was parked. I don't recall his name but thank him for me if you can figure out who checked me in. Frank Winsor

Review 12:The parking area at our end of the hotel was a meeting and break area for the local taxi services and the Gentleman's club across the street added a tackiness factor. The room was non smoking but I don't think you can ever get the odor out of the hallway carpeting anyway.

Review 13:Room was clean and comfortable but a little cramped with our two Labradors. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The maids did an excellent job keeping our room clean and resupplying the linens. Location was quiet but close enough to major hi-ways, making it easy getting to and from other destinations. Didn't patronize the hotel restaurants because of the pooches but there was a great Susi/Chinese place with a pet friendly dining area called Susi Joy that was within a very short walk from the hotel.

Review 14:Their pool wasn't open which wasn't listed on their website, but the spa is big enough for 16 people. We stayed because of the restaurant but it's actually a bar that serves food, no children allowed which should be on their website. Also, breakfast is 14 dollars a person and ten dollars for kids, which seems extreme and ridiculous.

Review 15:Rooms were large and clean

Review 16:the whole experience was great. Easy check in, clean and comfy room and a good place to be. Liked that there was a bar with a pool table open until 1 and a breakfast place with lots of options! We were very happy with our overall stay, if we come back through Boise we will stay here.

Review 17:Requested non-smoking room. Staff indicated all rooms were non smoking. Disappointed when our room smelled of stale smoke. Yuck!

Review 18:Food was good at bar. Only had coffee at restaurant. Very nice having both on site.

Review 19:Breakfast service was slow.

Review 20:The Staff at the Red Lion Downtowner made my stay so enjoyable. I felt like I was staying with a group of friends. Each staff member that I interacted with was profession and made me feel like I was just visiting friends.

Review 21:My stay took me into Saturday night and a rowdy crew moved in late night from a football game making sleep nearly impossible. Staff fixed it when notified.

Review 22:I liked everything. Room service, great shower, nice bed, nice amenities you would expect from a hotel that charges double the rate.

Review 23:Booking.com indicated on the receipt that breakfast was included but the hotel disagreed and we had an issue trying to get it worked out. In the end the hotel and receptionist was very accommodating

Review 24:Breakfast was included and the location for our stay was great.

Review 25:Hallways outside rooms did not have very good ventilation, so stepping out of room became a prospect of "how long can I hold my breath?". The stairways were even worse. Stagnant air with body odor smells. Ick. Also, bathrooms did not have a ventilation fan. All in all, my stay would have been better if I did not have a nose.

Review 26:The bathroom smelled like mildewed towels, which ended up being the shower curtain and the towels once they were wet. The fan didn't work in the bathroom. The A/C was inadequate so it didn't cool down the room for the evening and was stuffy throughout the night. One vent rattled. The halls were musty and warm. We had a very busy couple days with Boise State Orientation, so I didn't say anything to management.

Review 27:The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The lobby gave a good first impression.

Review 28:Air conditioner was not working well. I thought it was near the river walk but I didn't see any river and the staff couldn't direct me to the river walk.

Review 29:The room was quiet.

Review 30:bathroom tub, slow drain, water filled up to ankle while still taking a shower

Review 31:The room was wonderful. I liked the hot tub

Review 32:Nothing was explained like loyalty club or break fast hours

Review 33:Comfort

Review 34:Older hotel but we'll preserved.

Review 35:all ok

Review 36:for me location was whwere i needed

Review 37:Restaurant and lounge were very understaffed. Long time to be waited on and served

Review 38:location

Review 39:your bathrooms need to be upgraded.

Review 40:location to downtown and easy access to the roads to get around Boise.

Review 41:Needs some up to date remodeling.

Review 43:The bed was very comfortable

Review 44:no parking by door...

Review 45:great bed....

Review 46:Location, did not know it was far from downtown, the shopping district.

Review 47:No fan in the bathroom to remove steam.

Review 48:Quiet room

Review 49:Hotel stinks like an ashtray. Bathroom amentities were lacking.

Review 50:The Sports Bar is nice, and we love their salads and popcorn.

Review 51:I did not get room overlooking pool, as booking. com said I was supposed to.

Review 52:Overall, everything

Review 53:Only one person was working at the front desk. On a Saturday. Had to wait a long time to check in.

Review 54:Room was clean. Beds were very comfortable!

Review 55:A/C was weak.

Review 56:location.

Review 57:Too few lounge chairs at the pool

Review 58:Size & cleanliness of room, frig. & microwave

Review 59:Bed was too soft - no fan in the bathroom so shower time became steambath time. Regulating air conditioning was difficult to figure out.Breakfast not provided as most hotels do.Already went out of budget tostay there...so did not have extra money to purchase breakfast so we hadto start our day without.

Review 60:Was very quiet! Room had an iron and ironing board....very convenientand useful! Tv and cable provided very nice. Location was excellent -made getting to destination in Boise very easy so early in the morning. Was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a better room than wereserved free of charge! We will stay again!

Review 61:We had 2 rooms at the hotel last weekend(fri-sun). The night we checked in one of the rooms had not been cleaned properly but it was too late to do much about it until the next day. The other room had an enclosed patio and it was leaking when it rained. The next day we asked the housekeeper to clean up the water that was on the patio and the puddles remained. No one cared! The the last day we were there, we could not take showers with hot water because the hot water heater went out. We were extremely disappointed in the hotel.

Review 62:The hotel is outdated and smells of smoke from the many years when itwas allowed. The lobby breakfast options were less appealing than acontinental breakfast, yet they charge for the nasty meal.

Review 63:Comfortable beds.

Review 64:The hotel seemed old and outdated. The a/c did not work very wellwhich made sleep difficult. Breakfast should be included.

Review 65:The fitness center and pool were nice.

Review 66:The food. We had over cooked dry chicken in the Alfredo and I could tell if I was eating tuna fish or pulled pork when I ordered the pulled pork

Review 67:It had a bar and the staff was friendly

Review 68:They need to upgarde the rooms and update them. They are getting older and need to be modernized. There was al;ways glasses and plates siting out by the doors staff did not do walk bys very much by the rooms to cleams up the plates and glasses. There were glasses outside by the pool on the tables and the walk way to the pools was not very clean and the pool needed to be cleaned.

Review 69:I liked that our room had a patio on the second floor looking out at the pool. The flat Samsung tv was nice and the beds were comfortable. I like that there was a bar and a restaurant downstairs.

Review 70:Bed was dirty and gross!! Ceiling was leaking water from a few placesand they just left it with a dirty trash can under it! It was there forthe full visit. It was all just nasty and gross. I'll never stay ata lion in again!!

Review 71:Nothing! It was so gross!!

Review 72:Sloooow elevator, and what good is room service that ceases service at 7? I had to go out for McDonalds!

Review 73:Nice! Friendly reception, huge room, perfect!

Review 74:No negatives.

Review 75:Food was nice in the bar area. Swimming pool was fun due to excellent weather.

Review 76:Air conditioner not working 1st night. One ice machine for each large floor, never had ice for the weekend.

Review 77:Location to downtown excellent.

Review 78:No hot water on the second day there.

Review 79:The first room we were given strongly smelled like cigarette smoke. Was not pleasant to walk into seeing as my wife is allergic to it.

Review 80:Needed a couple of chairs on the balconies and high definition on the tvs.

Review 81:Loved how comfortable the beds were, cleanliness, and how quiet it was.

Review 82:The hotel needs updating.

Review 83:The staff were very helpful & the bed was very comfortable
