Reviews for Beach House Half Moon Bay
Review 1:We booked last minute for 2 nights, we were not disappointed! We upgraded to a full seaview room which had a balcony, fireplace, seating area, kitchenette and 2 TVs! Woke up to a beautiful sunrise, with amazing views all day. Complimentary breakfast and a comp wine hour in the evening! Very relaxing break.
Review 2:the Penthouse suite with complete ocean view was great-visual and relaxing to look. room/suite was large and comfortable and very quite. And only 16 miles from home. Continental breakfast was good.
Review 3:The only thing that we thought was missing was a hot breakfast. The breakfast was nice, but for the extraordinary hotel we felt the breakfast should have been extraordinary as well.
Review 4:We loved the location, the grounds and the room. It was all very beautiful and comfortable. The pool/spa area was wonderful and serene.
Review 5:coffee machine was old and dirty with brown stain
Review 6:location; view, kitchenette, firewood, very helpful and friendly staff, hot tub and complimentary continental breakfast.
Review 7:Right on main road so noisy. No Bar or restaurant facilities. Bathroom was functional but not what you'd expect from a 'Boutique' hotel.
Review 8:the rooms were large
Review 9:No shopping or general store in walking distance for basic supplies. Kitchen that has no cooking equipment as no ventilation! Room rate includes breakfast very poor. Coffee & bagel. Not good enough for rate being charged. Fog horn going off every 12seconds 24hours day/night.
Review 10:Location is excellent on the water . Microwave & fridge. Space.
Review 11:Breakfast very minimal, no real seating possibilities. (They expect to eat in the room or on balcony? 61°F...). We asked for fruits, no yoghurt, no cereals but reaction was reluctant. For above 350 $ per night (our) expectation is above sweets at breakfast
Review 12:Super view on coast, sea and harbor, beautiful environment, nice comfortable rooms with balcony and all facilities needed.
Review 13:No serious complaints, although it took a while to get the correct internet password: the initial one we were given didn't work, the attendant at the desk promised to look into it, but it wasn't until hours later that I passed by the front desk and happened to ask another attendant if the internet problem was fixed yet? She looked like she new exactly what I was talking about, and gave me the correct password ... it wasn't a busy day at the hotel, so a quick call up to our room to correct the initial error would have been appreciated!! Still, if that's the only complaint I can find about an excellent hotel in a beautiful location, I think we were doing well!
Review 14:Nice suite (although not facing the water - those are pricier - but very nice space, even for a family of five). Beautiful pool and hot tub, overlooking the ocean, nice open terrace alongside for sitting and watching the boats. Just a really nice space.
Review 15:Great location walked to dinner, walked along the inlet after dinner. Sat outside and watched the sunset and sat outside and had breakfast provided be the hotel. We now found a place to go now to get away,!
Review 16:The furniture in the room was too big and it was difficult to get around when the sofa bed was opened. The heater seemed to be on although we called a technician to turn it off. The room was too hot and we had to have fans on, which took up more space.
Review 17:The breakfast was good for a continental style.
Review 18:Noisy: Nobody mentioned that you hear the sirena from the harbor all night long. Continuously! I could not sleep through because I thought a telephone ton of busy line was on and "laud" all night! Nobody warned us! Breakfast: Room was too small and really feeling like in a fast food place. Dirty, smelly and the food quality was minimum. Coffee, regular, do not expect to wake you up!
Review 19:Room: We slept well, as it was our first night after arrival in the US. Location: For a nice walk in the morning.
Review 20:Po extremely small full of very young children unZble to use
Review 21:Staff very friendly, room clean and views were great. Noisy when people on balconies that are extremely close to each other
Review 22:Be sure to get a room with a view!
Review 23:I have stayed at this property many times. I love the location and the ocean view rooms. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need.
Review 24:Our room was on the second floor facing the highway so there was faint traffic sound easily drowned out by the fan provided. If we looked directly out the window, we had a view of the parking lot because we hadn't thought to get an ocean view room.
Review 25:Our room was big, with a small kitchen, and if we sat on the sofa in the living area, we had a view of the bay. Bed was comfortable, everything was very nice, including the staff.
Review 26:1st room faced the side of the building bad view. Had to pay an extra $100.00 per day- couldn't they lower it.( the price)
Review 27:View from the bay. staff very friendly and liked the breakfast- if you could come down. would have liked a bowl of fruit available at desk ;;have the breakfast later. liked the kitchen and stuff to use.Would like to come again in the area.
Review 28:Replacing the hallway carpeting could have started after after the breakfast buffet. I don't feel I should have been inconvienced getting through the workers and ducting under construction tape with a tray of food! We would like a full breakfast out on the patio. That would be outstanding .
Review 29:Quiet comfortable room. Being able to get night caps at the front desk. Fireplace with a bag of easy starting wood.
Review 30:The furniture was dated, and the breAkfast was limited.
Review 31:The setting is very tranquil with the walking trail, sailboats in the cove, and the various places to sit and relax. The lobby was nice with a fireplace to keep things warm. The furniture is a little dated, and the breakfast was limited, but overall we were happy with it for the price.
Review 32:Little to no greeting on arrival. Note: we were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary and it was never mentioned. Room was outdated, no amenities (H2O, coffee ect.) Major stain on sheet, old bird dropping on slider, and minimal continental breakfast for $300. We will not return!
Review 33:The location and view from room were excellent!
Review 34:We checked into our room went to dinner. When we returned our room had a horrible odor of feces. We then had to move to another room. Not a good experience. We will not be back!!!
Review 35:We have stayed many times. Two years ago I rented 5 rooms. We had a wonderful family time for my husbands retirement celebration. We return for my mothers 82 birthday. Not a good experience
Review 36:We did find the bed a bit firm for our liking. The foghorn could be a bit annoying at times, but we were able to tune it out. It would have been nice if the wifi worked out on the patio area.
Review 37:My husband and I both enjoyed the location. We walked along the Coast Trail in both directions. The bagels and fruit salad were a nice start to the day. There were a number of really good restaurants nearby that we could also walk to. The room was a fair size with a separate sitting area and fireplace. I was able to make a little pot of tea in the kitchenette. The hot tub was enjoyable after a day of being on our feet. The Sunsets across the harbor were beautiful.
Review 38:Dac, Patricia (both @Front Desk) went above + beyond to accommodate our requests. Their attentiveness and accessibleness made asking for my requests easy. The thoughtful amenities (tableware, tea kettle, appliances...) were truly welcoming and luxurious. The very well-maintained facilities and beautiful setting made this a lifetime-memorable vacation.
Review 39:We had a little trouble regulating the heat in our room but eventually got it where we wanted it to be.
Review 40:We loved everything from the hot cider and cookies when we arrived, to the accommodations, the staff, the breakfast in the AM...everything!!!!
Review 41:We really enjoyed our short visit to The Beach House in Half Moon Bay. The room was comfortable, clean, and in a perfect location! We will definitely be going back!
Review 42:There is a fog horn in the harbor that sounds all the time night or day fog or no fog. It serves no purpose now a day with GPS navigation. Take some ear plugs is you're a light sleeper
Review 43:The location is great. Lovely view of the ocean. Awesome room and they gave us a free upgrade. Staff and everything about the place was over the top
Review 44:Suite size and sleeping accommodations were difficult for more than three people to be comfortable and we were a family of five.
Review 45:Beautiful hotel, rooms, patio, pool and beach access. Nice continental breakfast. Wonderful fireplaces. Kitchenettes were a great convenience and the in-room stereos had beautiful sound quality. The front desk staff was kind and professional.
Review 46:The cleaning ladies did not clean up the place everyday even tho they came everyday..very disappointed in that. All the money you spend at least clean the place when you come in.
Review 47:Love the location...
Review 48:It was stuffy in the room when we arrived, and with no air conditioning, we had to use both fans to cool the room down to sleep.
Review 49:Loved the size of the room and how well appointed it was. The view was terrific and the location was perfect for the wedding we were attending.
Review 50:Every thing about this place was perfect. Sam's Chowder House is where we made reservations and it turns out it was in walking distance. Loved the closeness to the water and just a wonderful sweet time.
Review 51:The air quality in the room was not great, it seamed very "closed" and not a lot of fresh air, but nothing to actually bother about, would have liked to sleep with an open window but was not sure if that was entirely safe. It probably had been, the area is very quiet.
Review 52:Excellent staff! Wonderful very very big room, great bed, ok continental breakfast, nice hot tub and good opportunities for a morning run. Walking distance to a lot of restaurants. Book a room with ocean view. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 53:There seems to be ventilator pump in the wall /hall in front of rm#111 that gernerates noise thru the wall into rm#101. Very bothersome and did not encourage a good nights sleep. You need to look into this.
Review 54:If you choose a "partial-ocean view room" be aware that, yes, you will be able to see the ocean, but your room will be overlooking an empty lot next to a restaurant that I saw had some trash laying around. This was so disappointing to see. If I were to return I would only get a FULL ocean view room.
Review 55:We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach House. The rooms are so comfortable, the breakfast is wonderful and the wi-fi.... was very appreciated by my kids! The rooms and common areas are kept very clean.
Review 56:Swimming pool a bit small. The hot tub was ok but we weren't comfortable with babies in diapers being allowed into it. There may have been a rule against it but it wasn't observed or enforced.
Review 57:The staff were excellent - very friendly and attentive. The location was great - a short walk from many different types of restuarants and in a lovely bay. The room was superb - a very comfortable lounge area in the room which made it feel like an apartment. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 58:Nothing not to like!
Review 59:Great location and view! We stayed in a third floor "penthouse" suite with an ocean view - beautiful! The suites are roomy (bedroom, living room and mini kitchen, which was a nice surprise).
Review 60:The mattes was to firm for me
Review 61:Amazing room and perfect view
Review 62:The staff was fantastic and very intent on having us enjoy our stay.
Review 63:Short walk to SAMs Chowder House
Review 64:Price.
Review 65:Nice!
Review 66:Close to golfbox and Sam's crabb house next door
Review 67:Complimentary breakfast was very disappointing. Was a cold breakfast.
Review 68:Overall location, good size rooms
Review 69:The location is perfect. On the water, near great food and walking trails.
Review 70:The location of the property, fireplace in the room, balcony off the room overlooking the bay.
Review 71:Sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife in the water. The couple in the next room had never been there and were determined to visit again.
Review 72:My room key did not work No ice machine on 2nd floor Too expensive with no room service
Review 73:Would definitely return and recommend to friends!
Review 74:Breakfast very poor
Review 75:Lovely room and perfect location
Review 76:The location, the spa the room and the view
Review 77:Bathrooms and bed are tired, needs updating for the price. A freezer would be nice.
Review 78:Location
Review 79:Our air conditioner didn't work.
Review 80:The location was amazing and the staff was very helpful.
Review 81:With our drought, you should really replace the shower heads with low flows.
Review 82:Love the view from the balcony!
Review 83:The heat was on and I did not realize this until I woke up feeling hot in the middle of the night.
Review 84:The staff, view and location were fantastic! Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Thanks for helping make our anniversary trip perfect
Review 85:The breakfast, need more low carbs, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal yogurt.
Review 86:the beach and bike trail
Review 87:View of the RV park next door and road noise.
Review 88:The view of the bay and the size of the room.
Review 89:The continental breakfast was less than expected.
Review 90:The location and the room.
Review 91:construction
Review 92:the view
Review 93:Had a room on the ocean side and it was fantastic. Facility directly on shoreline. Did some work from the small deck area connected to the room.
Review 94:Everything was great
Review 95:relaxing
Review 96:Why have a stove to then not provide at least one pan!
Review 97:The junior suites are spacious and clean
Review 98:Breakfast very nice and location great by the beach. Nice big room.
Review 99:The room was huge. Had that cosy feeling about it.
Review 100:the near by FOG HORN sound 24/7, but do UNDERSTAND, that is a must have for the bay...
Review 101:Location, design, beautiful decoration of the hotel!!
Review 102:No AC, room next to exercise room
Review 103:Room was large, but no AC. Fans provided helped. Good breakfast and helpful staff.
Review 104:A very annoying horn in the harbor, which sounds every 10 seconds day and night. For us the reason not to return.
Review 105:Great rooms, beautiful view
Review 106:Too expensive, poor facilities (breakfast no place to sit, fitness very small, small swimmingpool)
Review 107:Nice location
Review 108:Breakfast is absolutely abysmal, the staff are generally unwelcoming and aloof. There's just no way this place is worth anything like $300 a night!
Review 109:The location is excellent.
Review 110:When the kids suited up and hit the pool, I felt like I'd walked into the "Spinal Tap" Stonehenge scene. I mean, this pool was seriously petite. Though that didn't stop us from enjoying it. And what the pool lacked for in size, the hot tub's capaciousness and perfect temperature handily made up for it.
Review 111:Loved the killer proximity to the Coastal Trail and series of beaches, the spaciousness and loveliness of the room, the linens, having a stocked kitchenette, the supreme cleanliness. The staff were gracious, and the on-site breakfast was a true plus -- with strong coffee, giant bowls of strawberries (as opposed to forlorn melon wedges one often gets elsewhere), and real half-and-half. Only wish I'd had time to try the massage services.
Review 112:Pricey
Review 113:The location was incredible - and the room my boyfriend & I stayed in had a beautiful ocean view. It didn't hurt that Sams Chowder House was right next door!
Review 114:the rate per night was on the high side
Review 115:We loved everything from the moment we walked in !!! The room was very clean, well appointed, and spacious. The balcony had a great view of the ocean and the surrounding areas. The free continental breakfast was also a nice touch, only made better by the availability of a great outdoor terrace with beautiful landscaping and lounging areas to have our breakfast. Also had nice access to walking trails, restaurants & nearby shops down the road
Review 116:Elevator was bad...was it under construction? the furniture is the room was old. the room had 60s feel. shower was OK.
Review 117:the feel of lobby was european and nice. Staff nice and friendly. Coffee was good.
Review 118:TH BLINDS ON THE SLIDING DOOR WERE ALMOST NON-FUNCTIONAL & NEED TO BE REPLACED. Living area with sofa had a small TV. Larger TV (at least 32") was viewable only from the bed as it was above the dresser. Breakfast was bagels and pastry, coffee and juice, plus fresh fruit. People in room above us were noisy and banging continually. The only ice machine is on the ground floor.
Review 119:Room was wonderful, view was perfect. We were on 1st floor. Had real fireplace with Duraflame logs, Wi-Fi, microwave, fridge, toaster, coffeemaker, 2-burner stove, dishes (no pots or pans), a safe, and room was decorated beautifully. Had sofa and matching chair, a large wicker chair, coffee table and one end table, two flatscreen TV's. continental breakfast (not great) and patio furniture outside. Bed area had a desklike counter with one chair. Bathroom had shower and a separate tub, plus double sinks. You enter the bedroom area, then it drops down to the living room area. Exceptionally nice overall. Choice of several free daily newspapers. Had nice trays to transport the food back to room to eat, although there were a few small tables in the lobby where you could eat. Since there is an elevator, upper floors would be quieter and views even better. Total for room 114 for two nights (Mon & Tues) was $585.40. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Review 120:Unfortunately, our balcony and transom window faced the rising sun. Itwoke us both days before 8 am. We'll plan our reservation betterwhen we come back.
Review 121:The suite was amazing. Very comfortable. We very much enjoyed the hottub and pool as well. Nice job with the wine social. We checked in andhad some wine and a nice conversion with another couple before we evenwent up to our room.
Review 122:LR TV very small, hard to read from couch
Review 123:View/room set-up/luxurious bed linens/Aveda products/lamps with dimmer switches/kindness from front desk when we were looking for ginger ale for an upset stomach
Review 124:Very cozy room with living area and kitchen. Great bathroom has both a shower and bathtub. There is a fireplace, you can use (hotel attached to it firewood and matches) Friendly and helpful staff
Review 125:It was my own fault but it was a lot further from Half Moon Bay town than I thought. It is a 4 mile walk on the coastal path which is very nice but pretty far. No inhouse bar or restaurant. There are a number of good restaurants in the harbour nearby but they are incredibly busy at the weekend and it was difficult to get a table at any of them between 1730 and 1930. The kitchens seem to close at 2100 in all of them!
Review 126:Very spacious and comfortable rooms. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nice, but basic, contintental breakfast. Kitchen facilities in the room. Views of Pillar Point harbour and the ocean. Proximity to beach. Good sports bar and local restaurants nearby. Fantastic seafood. Very welcoming to all travellers. I would recommend the hotel if you have a car and are looking for a good quality base to explore the local area from.
